SEVENTEEN World Tour

SEVENTEEN will bring back their powerhouse performances to the concert stage this June with ‘SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [BE THE SUN]’ (hereinafter ‘BE THE SUN’).

The K-pop stage-breakers announced their world tour ‘BE THE SUN’ on their official social media channels. While revealing North American tour dates, the announcement hinted at more shows to be added to the list, including cities in Asia and a Japan Dome Tour through November to December.

SEVENTEEN will kick off the tour on June 25 with two consecutive dates in Seoul, to be followed by shows in 12 North American cities: Vancouver on August 10, Seattle on August 12, Oakland on Augst 14, Los Angeles on August 17, Houston on August 20, Fort Worth on August 23, Chicago on August 25, Washington, DC on August 28, Atlanta on August 30, Belmont Park on September 1, Toronto on 3 and Newark on September 6.

‘BE THE SUN’ will be the K-pop supergroup’s first world tour in 2 years, after ‘SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR’ prematurely came to an end in 2020 due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The 13-piece act signaled the return of their highly-anticipated live shows earlier this month, with a fan meet in Japan that amassed 60,000 people.

SEVENTEEN will release their 4th studio album Face the Sun at midnight (ET) on May 27. The 9-track album with the lead single “HOT” has already racked up over 1.74 million pre-order sales in its first week, reaching an all-time high for the band.

About SEVENTEEN

Racking up 2 billion streams and selling 10 million albums, SEVENTEEN has rocketed to the forefront of the music scene fueled by a fiercely independent spirit and an unmatched in-house creative ecosystem. The group’s innovative structure hinges on the interplay of three units: hip-hop, vocals, and performance. Living up to the title of “K-pop Stage-breakers,” SEVENTEEN has unassumingly made history and become one of the biggest groups ever due to their world-class synchronization, jaw-dropping choreography, and tight teamwork. Moving at an unparalleled pace, the K-pop stage-breakers made their U.S. television debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden in January 2021 and followed it with unforgettable performances on The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and MTV’s Fresh Out Live. SEVENTEEN’s latest EP, Attacca, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and No. 13 on the Billboard 200. It sold over 1.3 million copies in the first week of release, earning the K-pop superstars the “quintuple-million seller” title.

Sam Fscher – Hopeless Romantic

Following the release of his duet with Demi Lovato on ‘What Other People Say’, hit single ‘This City’ and recent fan track ‘Simple’, Sam Fischer has shared his emotional and uplifting new single ‘Hopeless Romantic’, available now through Sony Music UK/RCA Records. Check it out HERE.

In true Sam style, ‘Hopeless Romantic’ wears its heart on its sleeve and discusses the struggles Sam has faced as an artist and romanticizes what every-day life should be. While the song is lyrically deep and emotional, musically it is a melodic and uplifting pop song that builds to a catchy and bold chorus. Sam says; “There have been times over the past 2 years where I really felt like I’d never get to do the things I’d always dreamed about doing as an artist. With every virtual performance that ended with a deep silence from my furniture, it just started making me really sad, and at the same time guilty, because I wasn’t appreciating what I have at all. I was actively refusing to accept the reality and instead romanticizing a version of life that just simply didn’t exist. That’s really what Hopeless Romantic is about. Though I will say, having just come off of my first headline tour, where I got to meet my fans for the first time, who are the people who give me this life, I’m in a much better place.”

Sam’s debut single ‘This City’ currently stands at over 500 million worldwide streams and stayed in the UK Top 20 for 11 weeks. The track is also double platinum in Australia, platinum in the UK and Gold in the US, New Zealand and Switzerland. Sam also performed the track on US TV, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Late Show With James Corden. He recently completed his first live tour in the UK, including a packed out London Garage performance and will be bringing the tour to the US in January 2022.

Australian born Sam Fischer first introduced himself with his Not A Hobby EP and has achieved incredible and well deserved attention through his soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. Touring North America with his friend Lewis Capaldi, he wowed crowds with his buoyant personality and pure love and talent for song-writing. Now based in LA, he not only has received acclaim for his own work, but he continues to solidify his spot as one of the hottest current writers, having worked with global pop superstars including Ciara, Lennon Stella, Louis Tomlinson, Elle King, Jessie J, Virginia To Vegas and many more.

However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for Sam, who endured his own heartache to achieve his dreams. With the promise of a recording contract in the bag, he set off to LA only for the deal to be pulled away. After months of couch-surfing, he finally and deservedly received his break with This City and project Homework, which has been just the amazing start of an exciting new chapter in Sam’s career.

NESSA BARRETT — “i hope ur miserable until ur dead”

DEBUT PRETTY POISON EP ARRIVES ON SEPTEMBER 10

DELIVERS INTERNET-BREAKING SURPRISE PERFORMANCE AT LOLLAPALOOZA

Ready to make a major mark after gathering millions of streams and receiving widespread critical acclaim, rising singer-songwriter Nessa Barrett uncovers a new single and music video entitled “i hope ur miserable until ur dead” today. Listen to “i hope ur miserable until ur dead” HERE and watch the music video HERE.

Nessa delivers a Gen-Z grunge bop underlined by caustic guitars and a hypnotically spectral hook. Her voice teems with raw emotion as she lets everyone know exactly how she feels! In the accompanying video directed by the incomparable Hannah Lux Davis [Ariana Grande, Halsey], Nessa emerges from a television set Poltergeist-style in order to haunt a deserving ex with her undeniable presence (and totally stealable nineties prom goth looks).

Regarding the song, she said, “‘i hope ur miserable until ur dead’ is the anger you hold inside when people betray you—when people hurt you so bad and you unapologetically hope they get what they deserve.”

Most importantly, the song heralds the arrival of her debut pretty poison EP out September 10 on Warner Records. Pre-order pretty poison HERE. Illuminating the scope of her signature style, she leans into a lullaby melody on the darkly catchy “grave,” while “i wanna die” feels tailor-made for the closing credits of a classic nineties slasher flick. Her jazzy intonation adds raw emotion to “scare myself” as she admits, “Sometimes I even scare myself.” Over wobbling distortion on the title track “pretty poison,” she urges, “Say my name, say my name like you know it’s holy.”

Check out the full tracklisting below.

Nessa broke the internet last weekend when she joined jxdn for a surprise duet of “la di die” on the Main Stage at Lollapalooza. It immediately trended across social media, generating millions of impressions. Meanwhile, she continues to attract critical acclaim. Of her latest release “counting crimes,” Clash Music wrote, “The single itself showcases Barrett’s vocal power alongside a backdrop of guitar and piano overlaid with glitchy production.” In addition to plugs from the likes of UPSET Magazine and more, The Line of Best Fit hailed her as “On The Rise,” going on to rave, “She is the architect of her own, grunge-indebted netherworld, leaning into the pop-punk revival close enough to brush shoulders with it, and yet retaining an extraordinary sense of self that belies her eighteen years.”

Earlier this year, Nessa linked up with jxdn on “I’m Dead” as part of the Official Soundtrack for the new scripted podcast Prom In Hell, the four part horror-musical-comedy series which debuted as the #1 Apple Music Podcast in April. “I’m Dead” notably marks the second collaboration by Nessa and jxdn following their breakout hit “la di die,” produced by the legendary Travis Barker. The latter has already amassed over 200 million streams, cracked the Top 15 at alternative radio and reached #27 at top 40 radio. The duo made their late-night television debut performance with “la di die” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and also performed on The Ellen Degeneres Show. The song has received widespread acclaim from MTV, Elite Daily, Buzzfeed Radio.com and Nylon declared, “As the last line of ‘la di die’ says: She’s gonna be a superstar.”

TWICE × Taste of Love

TWICE’s new album, Taste of Love, marks their first Billboard Top 10 as the hit reaches #6.

Global K-pop icons, TWICE, officially reached the #6 chart-topping position on the Billboard 200 chart with their new album, Taste of Love, as well as #1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart. This high Billboard 200 ranking marks a first for the group, jumping up 66 slots from their most recent #72 position for Eyes wide open. Taste of Love pushed the musical boundaries for the group, while in return earning TWICE their first top 10 album to date. The group initially ranked in the Billboard 200 chart in June 2020 with their album MORE & MORE, closely followed by Eyes wide open later that same year. To say TWICE had an impressive 12 months would be an understatement, but the group’s driving force remains the same. The focus has always been and will continue to be, the bond between TWICE and their fans, ONCE.

“We look forward to growing more and more with our fans,” said TWICE in a group statement. “Thank you for being with us.”

TWICE has worked diligently to get to this point. In 2019, the group successfully completed their World Tour, TWICELIGHTS, which included sold-out shows in the U.S. at The Forum in Los Angeles, the Prudential Center in Newark (where they performed in front of 11,000 fans), and a show at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago. In February 2020, TWICE signed with Republic Records and launched their original  YouTube series “TWICE: Seize the Light.” With the higher chart rankings coming in just this time last year, the group turned it up a notch with their recent broadcast hits. TWICE performed I CAN’T STOP ME off MORE & MORE for Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #PLAYATHOME YouTube series. Within the last 6-months, TWICE has been gracing screens everywhere. They performed on the prestigious TIME 100 Talks, had their U.S. broadcast debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show, and last week performed their new single Alcohol-Free on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Throughout the last six years, TWICE has become a globally renowned phenomenon, rapidly taking the U.S. and beyond by storm – including the moment they graced Allure Magazine’s May 2020 cover. Their 2020 chart-topping albums, MORE & MORE and Eyes wide open, were included in TIME, Billboard, Teen Vogue, PAPER, and BuzzFeed’s roundup of top albums of the year. MORE & MORE also marked the first time TWICE have been included in Billboard’s Artist 100 and Billboard 200 lists, becoming the fifth all-female musical act from their country to rank on the 200 charts. In addition, Eyes wide open, hit the top five slot on the all-genre iTunes US Album Sales Chart, debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s World Albums chart, and ranked #72 on the Billboard 200 Chart.

“The collective continues its artistic evolution” – BILLBOARD

“The young women have shown their multifaceted approach to music and ability to showcase new charms with each release, with “Alcohol-Free” being no exception” – ROLLING STONE

“TWICE succeed in their desire to bring their fans ‘good vibes’ in unprecedented times” – NME

About TWICE:

Formed under K-pop powerhouse JYP Entertainment in 2015, TWICE is one of the best-selling K-pop girl groups of all time regarding physical album sales. The group first rose to prominence with their debut title song Like OOH-AHH, and the 2016 breakthrough single CHEER UP which went on to top multiple Korean pop charts and won ‘Song of the Year’ at the Melon Music Awards and Mnet Asian Music Awards. The group was also included in Variety’s Youth Impact Report as the only K-pop group included in the list. The group was included in Forbes Korea Power Celebrity issue in both 2019 and 2017; and was also included in 18th place and as the only Asian act in Billboard’s 21 Under 21 2017: Music’s Next Generation issue. Last year, TWICE’s album MORE & MORE made its first ranking on the Artist 100 and Billboard 200 lists. Their second 2020 album, Eyes wide open, hit the top five slot on the all-genre iTunes US Album Sales Chart and debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s World Albums chart; and the album’s lead track debuted in the top 10 of the all-genre iTunes US Song Sales Chart. The group hit their first top 10 album for Taste of Love, ranking it at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart. TWICE recently performed Alcohol-Free on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, CRY FOR ME on The Kelly Clarkson Show, I CAN’T STOP ME on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #PLAYATHOME digital YouTube series, and DEPEND ON YOU on TIME100 Talks.

JAX – 90s Kids

JAX does it for the “90s Kids”

Multi-talented singer-songwriter premieres nostalgia anthem, available now via Atlantic Records

STREAM “90S KIDS” HERE

Singer-songwriter Jax has premiered her highly anticipated new single “90s Kids” – available now via Atlantic Records. The nostalgia-fueled anthem became an instant fan-favorite after being previewed on TikTok late last year, packed with all the quintessential decade references from Tamagotchi to Britney Spears.

“I’m obviously a 90s kid, and grew up with all these amazing trends that I’m still obsessed with today” said Jax. “One night at 3am I was just thinking of all the times I’d watched ‘Saved By The Bell,’ played Super Smash Bros, danced to Britney Spears and I just put it all in a voice memo. Next thing I knew by sunrise I had this anthem to rep all my fellow 90s babies.”

“90s Kids” follows the release of “Ring Pop,” Jaxs major label-debut which yielded a massive viral response and high-profile appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Access Hollywood & more. Initially teased on TikTok, “Ring Pop” instantly captivated fans with its honest lyrics that perfectly encapsulate the emotions being felt by so many in today’s predicament. Her warm delivery coasting over dreamy guitar and snappy percussion as she croons to her boyfriend, “Don’t need no diamonds, you’re my rock, and I’m okay with a ring pop.

Raised in New Jersey by way of New York, Jax got her start by performing a wide variety of genres and in bands growing up. At the age of 18, she developed cancer above her vocal cords, which returned following a couple months of remission right as she relocated to Los Angeles in pursuit of her music. Left unable to sing herself, Jax turned to songwriting for others and found industry success behind-the-scenes.

As her ability to perform returned, Jax needed to pivot yet again when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. This time she turned to TikTok, posting a hilarious response to the pop gem “Stacy’s Mom” from “Stacy’s Mom’s Perspective” which exploded with nearly 9 million views in just a few months and “Update from Avril Lavigne & Sk8er Boi 18 years later” which became her most successful parody to date with over 14.5 million views. She continued to go viral a dozen or more times over, eventually amassing over 1.6 million followers on the platform, 200 million total views and 28 million “likes.” With a massive online audience under her belt, Jax began sharing her own original music in late 2020 to an overwhelmingly positive response – ultimately leading to her singing with Atlantic Records for her forthcoming debut full-length.

Ellen Tests Positive for COVID

By Hannah DiPilato

Talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has shut down her talk show until January after testing positive for Covid-19.

“Hi Everyone,” DeGeneres wrote. “I want to let you all know that I tested positive for Covid-19. Fortunately, I’m feeling fine right now. Anyone who has been in close contact with me has been notified, and I am following all proper CDC guidelines. I’ll see you all again after the holidays. Please stay healthy and safe,” wrote Ellen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show’s official Twitter account

The announcement to cancel the show came from a spokesperson from Telepictures studio. “Following Ellen’s announcement this morning, we have paused production on the Ellen DeGeneres Show until January,” said the statement.

The show had returned to the air in Septmeber after a summer of employees reporting the show as a “toxic work environment.” Ellen made an apology about these allegations during the September premire.

“As you may have heard this summer, there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show,” DeGeneres said during the first episode back on the air. “And then there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened. I take that very seriously. And I want to say, I am so sorry to the people who were affected. I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power. I realized that with that comes responsibility and I take responsibility for what happens at my show. This is The Ellen DeGeneres Show. I am Ellen DeGeneres. My name is there. My name is there. My name is on underwear. We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes. And today we are starting a new chapter.”

DeGeneres has apologized to her staff for the environment of the show. Employees reported accounts of sexual misconduct, racism and “culture of fear.”  This has resulted in many celebrities turning down the oppurtunity to be featured on the show. Although the show has featured big celebrities such as Justin Bieber and Jimmy Kimmel in the past, celebrities don’t want to be featured on a show with such negative backlash.

Ever since the show’s return to air, the once popular talk show is now struggling to stay on top. According to Buzzfeed, the show hasn’t been able to book A-List celebrities for appearances. The show has also lost advertisers as well as seeing a large dip in viewer ratings. Usually Decemeber is a busy time for The Ellen Show because of the “12 Days of Giveaways” segment that runs through the holiday season.

This year The Ellen Show planned to give the gifts to those impacted by coronavirus such as frontline workers and affected families. However, an employee has said this year’s gifts that will be given to the audience are much less extravagant than usual.

“In a typical year, ‘12 Days of Giveaways’ is huge. We’ve basically claimed Christmas on daytime TV. When you think of Christmas on TV, you think of The Ellen Show,” said the employee. “Everyone wants to be in the audience. Everyone wants the gifts. And so we line up all these crazy sponsors, and people love it. But this year, our ‘12 Days’ is more condensed. We don’t have as many sponsors.”

Although the show is postponed until January, DeGeneres has signed a contract that continues the talk show through 2022. While the show is struggling more than usual, executives have said the show isn’t going anywhere.

Ellen’s Reputation

By Eamonn Burke

The reputation of Ellen Degeneres and her show, The Ellen Degeneres Show, are unstable after employees of the production alleged there was a “toxic work environment.” This included citations of being fired after medical leave, bullying, racism, and sexual misconduct by producers. While there were rumors of Ellen’s toughness, this is the first time a proper investigation has been done internally.

Of the report, released in July, Ellen said in a statement: “We all have to be more mindful about the way our words and actions affect others, and I’m glad the issues at our show were brought to my attention.”

This report is not the only scratch on Ellen’s reputation, as it is the culmination of multiple years of rumors. Back in 2018, in an interview response to the Hollywood stories of Ellen not being as cheerful and kind as she appears on television, she called the rumors an “outright lie.” In early 2019, she was criticized again for pardoning Kevin Hart of his previous homophobic comments in an interview with him. A photo of her talking with George Bush in late 2019 drew distaste again, though she defended herself and said that they were friends despite different political beliefs.

The closer examination of Ellen started with a November interview with Dakota Johnson, in which Johnson awkwardly calls out Ellen for lying about not being invited to her birthday party. It led to a viral Twitter thread including ugly stories about Ellen’s meanness which further damaged her reputation. Lastly before the report was an April scuffle with Ellen’s audience as she insensitively compared quarantine to being in jail while she sat in her mansion. It was also reported that her employees had been told very little about the future of the show.

Most recently was a Daily Mail article revealing that Ellen may leave the show or be “cancelled” and that employees are terrified of this scenario. “The show feels done” says a source, despite producer Andy Lassner asserting that “No one is going off the air” in a tweet. It is possible that James Corden will replace Ellen on her daytime television slot.
