Kruse GWS Auctions’ World Record

The world-record-breaking auction house, Kruse GWS Auctions, specializing in entertainment memorabilia, fine jewelry, iconic fashion accessories, Royal artifacts, antiques and collectibles, has announced another world record. On Saturday, December 5, 2020, the Oscar-nominated actress Melanie Griffith’s 48.00ctw Diamond, 8.5mm Pearl and Solid Platinum Pair of Antique Bracelets from her mother, Tippi Hedren, sold for $156,250 during the “Billionaire’s Estate & Royal Auction” event. The final bid marks the highest price paid for Tiffany & Co. jewelry at auction.

The pair of solid platinum, diamond and pearl antique bracelets personally owned by film star Melanie Griffith come with quintessential Hollywood provenance of having been gifted to her by her mother, iconic Hollywood actress Tippi Hedren, who famously won a Golden Globe Award for her iconic role in Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds.” The bracelets are collectively embellished with approximately 48ctw round and old European cut fiery white diamonds and are lined with eight 8.5mm pearls each. The bracelets were sold with a personal letter from Griffith’s famous mother and are housed in a fitted box. The bracelets measure 7” in length and 2.15” wide and are marked Tiffany & Co.

“Melanie Griffith is a true American fashion and film icon. These bracelets are so exquisite, our auction house recognized immediately they are fine art in the form of fine jewelry and we were proud to set a world record with their sale,” said Dame Brigitte Kruse. “They represent the highest level of Americana; being made at the peak of craftsmanship by iconic American jewelry company Tiffany & Co. and being gifted from iconic American actress Tippi Hendren to her daughter, fellow iconic American actress Melanie Griffith. Kruse GWS Auctions was thrilled to be trusted with such a remarkable opportunity. The sale of the beautiful Diamond and Platinum bracelet secured a new world record as well as a placement in a museum.”

Alex Trebek Dies at 80

By Hannah DiPilato

Alex Trebek, the face of “Jeopardy!” for many years, has passed away at 80 years old. He is known and loved by many for being the show’s host since 1984.

“Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends,” the official Jeopardy account tweeted on Sunday morning. “Thank you, Alex.”

Trebek leaves behind his wife Jean and his children Emily, Matthew and Nicky. Trebek has been fighting stage four pancreatic cancer since March 2019.

Trebek shared this cancer diagnosis in a video to fans on March 6th. “Now normally the prognosis for this is not very encouraging, but I’m going to fight this and I’m going to keep working,” Trebek said while vowing to keep hosting the show.

Trebek hosted over 8,200 episodes of “Jeopardy!,” and shared answers through 37 seasons according to CNN. He accomplished many things throughout his 36 years as host, including five Daytime Emmy Awards. Similarly, he surpassed Bob Barker of “The Price is Right” for the person that has hosted the most games-show episodes. Trebek now holds this record in the Guinness Book of Records.

In 2018 Trebek hinted at retirement but signed a final contract extension that was set to end in 2022. “I’m just enjoying what I’m doing, I’m happy to have a job,” said Trebek in a 2014 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I like the show, I like the contestants and it pays well.” It was clear Trebek loved his job and the show.

“He loved that ‘Jeopardy!’ popularized intelligence and it was important for him,” said Mike Richards, the show’s executive producer to CNN. “I think he really became synonymous with the show, in that he really was that smart.”

Trebek “reveled in these intelligent people, in the contestants, in the writers,” Richards continued. “It’s just who he was — he craved knowledge and it showed.”

According to People, Trebek and Jean celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary in 2019 but agreed that almost thirty years married still wasn’t enough.

“I’m pretty satisfied with my life,” Trebek shared with People. “But my wife Jean and I have been together almost 29 years, and I was thinking about President Bush when he died, and all the comments about his life about what a nice guy he is, and how he and his wife had been together 73 years.  I thought, oh my gosh … if I’d just met Jean in my 20s we could have had a longer life together.”

Jean added about her husband to People. “He takes his job very seriously, but won’t take himself too seriously,” said said. “He’s just an intelligent human being. Part of Alex’s staying youthful is his staying curious,” she continued.

Throughout his years on “Jeopardy!” Trebek battled many health complications. Besides battling cancer, he suffered from two heart attacks, a knee replacement, blood clots on his brain and a torn Achilles tendon according to People

Trebek kept fighting until he passed away peacefully in his home. According to Sony Pictures episodes of “Jeopardy!” featuring Trebek will continue to air until December 25.

Jadakiss × Slice Out Hunger

Def Jam Recordings artist Jadakiss – the New York hip-hop icon whose career spans two decades and millions of albums sold – takes it back to the community this week, as he teams up with Slice Out Hunger and Slice’s “Pizza Vs Pandemic” campaign, to deliver pizza to New York and Los Angeles-area hospitals. The ongoing campaign supports both small businesses and healthcare workers by purchasing pizza for frontline workers fighting COVID-19.

As a native of Yonkers, NY, Jadakiss is sustaining his hometown community by sponsoring a massive delivery of his favorite food to heroes on the front lines, in this case, hospitals in the New York and Los Angeles-area.

“In this time of tragedy and confusion in the world, I would like to say thank you to the Healthcare Workers on the frontline in both New York and Los Angeles for all their efforts to help those suffering from Covid-19. I am partnering with @sliceoutthehunger, @slice & @deliciouspizzahq to deliver boxes of pizza to hospitals on 5/15/20.”

Since the nation-wide “Pizza Vs Pandemic” campaign was first launched by Slice Out Hunger and Slice in March, it has raised over $400k to fund its pizza deliveries. The nonprofit is 100% volunteer-run, so every dollar they receive directly impacts the communities they serve.  Fans can go to Jada’s direct donation page at https://sliceouthunger.org/allcrust

As an added bonus, the donations funded by Jadakiss and his fans will be delivered in limited edition pizza boxes featuring the artist’s “All Crust” mantra.  The box design is of particular interest to Slice Out Hunger’s founder Scott Wiener, who holds a Guinness World Record for his collection of over 1,500 unique pizza boxes from around the world. All of the boxes will also have a QR code linked here:  https://Stream.lnk.to/AllCrustPizzaFP

“We will provide pizzas for Covid only departments, as well as Health clinics and community centers, working directly with underserved communities across Los Angeles.”

On March 6th, Jadakiss dropped his fifth studio album IGNATIUS, whose tracks include “ME,” “Kisses To the Sky” featuring Rick Ross and Emanny, and the brand new single “Huntin Season” featuring Pusha T.  The album is named for Jada’s dear friend, Ignatius ‘Ice Pick Jay’ Jackson, who passed away in 2017, due to Colon Cancer.  Jadakiss is an active supporter of the City Of Hope Colon Cancer treatment & research hospital based in Los Angeles.  For more info, as well as exclusive merch offers, visit Jada’s online store at https://shop.jadakiss.com/.

Break Dancers Set World Record

Break It ’til You Make It…Red Bull BC One is Spinning Into The Records Book

Over 70 breaking aficionados have set a world record for the most simultaneous windmill moves completed in 30 seconds.

The windmill is a classic Hip Hop dance move in which the legs are lifted high in the air and twisted in a windmill pattern, while the torso and head rest against the floor. The world record for the most windmills – the most recognizable move in breaking – was completed simultaneously by the largest group of dancers aged between 15 and 50 years old.

The world record was set at Kinderdijk, a village in the Netherlands’ South Holland province, known for its iconic 18th-century windmills and a monument to the history of humankind that was officially included as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.

Over the past few years, the Hip Hop scene – and the culture that surrounds it – has grown dramatically, with rappers like Poke and Brainpower filling the country with old school beats and fuelling a society of talented breakers, battling in competitions around the Netherlands and around the World.

Leading the breakers is Italy’s Mauro Peruzzi – aka Cico, the ‘Prince of Power’. Known for his dynamic, gymnastic, power moves, Cico is one of the most impressive talents in the B-Boy Dance form today and this is not his first World Record. Especially heralded for his energetic airflare combination moves and incredible ‘1990s’, where he spins and speed in a one-armed handstand, holding the World Record with a mind-boggling 27 revolutions.

The World Record Breaking event marks the growing breaking scene in the Netherlands, with Amsterdam hosting this year’s Red Bull BC One World Finals on November 4th.
