NEW JACKIE 1961 GUCCI CAMPAIGN f/ Dakota Johnson VIA 360 MAGAZINE.

GUCCI JACKIE 1961 CAMPAIGN

Dakota Johnson stars in a new film and imagery that revisit the emblematic handbag’s storied origins.

JlA longstanding mainstay within the House’s collections, ‘The Jackie’ experienced a well-chronicled rise to icon status—ever since its debut in 1961, the handbag’s perpetual presence on the arms of celebrated figures around the world crystallized its everlasting association with their signature sophistication.

Dakota Johnson finds herself at the latest inflection point of the line’s celebrated chronology in which a certain attitude encounters a certain era, marking the beginning of
a new chapter through the House’s latest campaign. Johnson makes her way through
everyday moments in Los Angeles with different versions of the Jackie 1961, each with its
own personality, each perfectly paired to the occasion. The film and imagery, captured by
Glen Luchford, pay homage to the style’s storied origins as spontaneous snapshots
highlight the silhouette’s intrinsic versatility and enduring elegance, reflecting a state of co-existence that spans decades and personas.

The Jackie 1961

Following a distinguished line of reiterations, each emblematic of its time, today’s Jackie
1961 emerges to transcend the traditional with its sleek silhouette and universal attitude.

The selection is presented in three different sizes—mini, small, and medium—in a wide
range of colors that highlights the design’s inherent versatility. Clean lines bring the focus
to the unique piston closure, as well as the quality of the material itself, whether natural
grain, patent, or precious leather, or the emblematic GG Supreme canvas. A longer,
removable shoulder strap, either in leather or as a chain, enhances the Jackie 1961’s
adaptable personality and practicality. Within each collection, the House introduces
creative interpretations, including in woven raffia and straw, as well as with velvet tapestry patterns for Cruise 2023.

The original model introduced in 1961 became expressive of the 1960s and 1970s jetsetter
lifestyle for which Gucci was known and new sensibilities were brought to the signature
style in 1999 and 2009, drawing from a contemporary intuition and attitude and ever–assuming new characters that defy definition.

GUCCI BLONDIE

Furthering an ever-evolving narrative, the House presents Gucci Blondie – a line of handbags that draws inspiration from an archival style defined by a rounded rendition of the signature Interlocking G, as seen in patent documents from 1971. The emblem takes center stage on the collection’s distinctive silhouette, as Alessandro Michele continues to traverse time, gently drawing out the threads of storylines waiting patiently to be found and given a new voice.

The Gucci Blondie, which first debuted within the Love Parade fashion show in Los Angeles, reflects the Creative Director’s ability to effortlessly bridge eras through his creations. This temporal resilience is reflective of an essence that is both chameleonic and charismatic, a combination that allows the line, like many others of the House, to remain contemporary, no matter the year. The modern-day iteration is a stylistic progression of the original, infused with striking details that speak to a free-spirited and independent persona.

The Gucci Blondie offering spans sizes, silhouettes, and details, from a versatile messenger that can be worn on the shoulder or across the body with the included Web or leather straps, to a smaller day-to-night style whose included chain strap can be tucked inside to transform it into a clutch. A miniature version, also featuring interchangeable and adjustable leather and Web straps, rounds out the selection. Designs are available in leather, suede, and GG canvas, with a varied palette for both the bags and the Web straps.

The Gucci Blondie is presented through a new campaign, envisioned as a love letter to New York, as a cast of characters are captured against the backdrop of some of the city’s most celebrated landmarks. Reportage-style shots evocative of an analog age are filled with candor and spontaneity, portraying impromptu moments of heritage in motion and dynamically converging past, present, and future in every frame.

Artemisia Gentileschi, Self Portrait as Saint Catherine of Alexandria for use by 360 Magazine

By Her & Hand: Artemisia Gentileschi and Women Artists in Italy

Italian Women Artists Celebrated in Groundbreaking Exhibition at the Wadsworth Atheneum

The first exhibition solely dedicated to Italian women artists at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, By Her & Hand: Artemisia Gentileschi and Women Artists in Italy, 15001800 explores how women succeeded in the male-dominated art world of the time. From the group of eighteen artists presented, Artemisia Gentileschi (15931654 or later), takes center stage with outstanding portraits and images of heroines. This exhibition recognizes and celebrates the vital contributions of women to the history of art in Italy through rarely seen works, recent scholarship, and introductions to virtually unknown artists. By Her Hand will be on view September 30, 2021 to January 9, 2022 at the Wadsworth.

Sofonisba Anguissola, Artemisia Gentileschi, and Rosalba Carriera, among others, created pathbreaking works of art, simultaneously subverting expectations and challenging norms,” said Oliver Tostmann, Susan Morse Hilles Curator of European Art at the Wadsworth. “Their works and careers are often distinguished by alternative choices and idiosyncratic methods employed within the context of the male dominated art world of the time. By Her Hand brings together a wide spectrum of works by these artists many on view for the first-time inviting visitors to explore, reassess, and celebrate the achievements of Italian women artists.”

The exhibition features a wide array of paintings, miniatures, and works on paper from institutional and private collections in the United States, Canada, and Europe. The artists take on a range of subjects from portraiture and still life, to historical and religious stories. Many works are being shown publicly for the first time or are making their U.S. debut such as Artemisia Gentileschi’s ravishing Mary MagdaleneBy Her Hand reweaves history by examining women artists’ work and careers from the 1550s to the 1750s. Despite the fundamental differences and challenges women artists faced, some achieved notable success in their lifetime. The accomplishments of this diverse and dynamic group are introduced, discussed, and reassessed. Until recently, many of these Italian women artists were overlooked by critics, scholars, collectors, and institutions alike.

Artemisia Gentileschi is arguably the best-known artist included in the exhibition. Gentileschi’s talents were widely recognized by her contemporaries, many elite patrons of her day knew of and desired her work. Important works by Gentileschi highlight her innovative ideas, use of sensuous colors, and command of the brush. The Wadsworth’s Self-Portrait as a Lute Player is compared with the recently discovered Self-Portrait as Saint Catherine of Alexandria from the National Gallery, London, as well as Portrait of Saint Catherine from the Uffizi Galleries, Florence. This will be the first opportunity to see these three celebrated paintings side by side in the United States. Additional examples of Gentileschi’s pioneering depictions of strong women, such as Judith and Her Maidservant with the Head of Holofernes from the Detroit Institute of Arts, will also be on view.

The compelling works of art on view in By Her Hand coupled with stories of their pioneering makers reveals a nuanced picture of the role Italian women artists played from the Renaissance to the RococoBy Her Hand celebrates their long-overlooked contributions, and aims to inspire continued reexaminations of the role women artists have played throughout the history of art.

Never before in its long history has the Wadsworth devoted an exhibition to the work of professional women artists in sixteenth through eighteenth-century Italy, despite the fame of our Italian Baroque painting collection” said Jeffrey N. Brown, Interim Director & CEO of the Wadsworth Atheneum. “By Her Hand is the first exhibition in any encyclopedic museum in the United States to focus on this subject. This ground-breaking exhibition provides our audiences with a chance to encounter the outstanding art produced by these women artists in early modern Italy and to appreciate the far-reaching consequences of Artemisia Gentileschi’s illustrious career.”

By Her Hand is a collaboration between the Wadsworth and the Detroit Institute of Arts. Curated by Eve Straussman-Pflanzer former curator at the Detroit Institute of Arts now Curator and Head of Italian and Spanish paintings at The National Gallery of Art, Washington and Oliver Tostmann, Susan Morse Hilles Curator of European Art at the Wadsworth. After its debut at the Wadsworth, it will travel to Detroit where it will be on view February 6 to May 29, 2022.

Tyler Florence & Cooper’s Hawk

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants, a lifestyle brand centered around food and wine, has announced their second wine collaboration with Chef Tyler Florence: a Sauvignon Blanc. The blend is a labor of love between Cooper’s Hawk winemaker Rob Warren and the Food Network host, author, restaurateur and winemaker, Tyler Florence. The collaboration wine is a limited production blend made for the company’s 300,000-plus Wine Club and is positioned as July’s “Wine of the Month”. While the wine debuted at a members-only Wine Club dinner hosted by Florence in Naples, Florida on June 20th, restaurant guests can sample the blend by the glass in the dining and tasting rooms throughout the month of July in any of Cooper’s Hawk 32 restaurants.
“Collaborating with the very best chefs and winemakers not only elevates the Cooper’s Hawk brand, but raises the bar for the entire hospitality industry,” says Cooper’s Hawk Founder & CEO Tim McEnery. “Working with Tyler on our second wine collaboration has been one of the most educational experiences to date. His curious palate and deep knowledge of wine helped create an exceptional Sauvignon Blanc.”
Over the past twelve years, Florence has added several wine awards to his list of accomplishments, scoring in the 90s with Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast. Tyler is also a top-selling author of 12 cookbooks and proprietor of two acclaimed restaurants.
I am laser-focused on creating exciting flavor profiles, so wine was a natural next step for me a decade ago,”says Florence. “The Cooper’s Hawk philosophy of blending brings great freedom to the world of winemaking and allows them to move with the trends. We used grapes from Monterey County to create a wine with aromas of lemon, orange, melon, grass, grapefruit and gooseberry with whimsical tropical flavors like guava, kiwi and passion fruit. The finish is crisp and loaded with green apple and citrus fruit.”
Cooper’s Hawk continues to push the boundaries of experiential branding by sharing the excitement that comes from collaborating with culinary and wine luminaries like Florence, and many others including Francis Ford Coppola Winery, Jean Charles Boisset (Boisset Collection), Richard Blais, Anne Burrell and many others.
About Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants
Founded in 2005 by CEO Tim McEnery, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is built upon the belief that food and wine hold the power to forge lasting connections. A lifestyle brand focused on creating memorable moments that enrich lives, Cooper’s Hawk is the 34

Florence + the Machine x Big God

Florence + the Machine unveil a new song, “Big God,” and video today—watch it, choreographed by Akram Khan and Florence and directed by Autumn de Wilde, HERE. “Big God” is the third track to be released from Florence + the Machine’s hugely anticipated fourth studio album High As Hope, out June 29 on Republic Records.

Listen to Big God HERE.

Watch the music video HERE.

Says Florence:

‘Big God’ was written about that feeling when someone has not replied to your text, the modern phenomenon of ‘Ghosting’ which is one of my favourite words but not my favourite feeling. I was describing it to someone and they said to me ‘You need a big god’, as if the need in me were so cavernous, it would take something enormous to fill it. Probably something bigger than a text message.

It’s always been a very physical song. I saw a dance piece in my head as I was writing it, so to co choreograph something with Akram Khan was a huge honour. Autumn de Wilde fully understood what I was trying to do. The power of the desire within the void, left with yourself to rage and wonder and really it is yourself you are raging against. Not the ghost.

Akram Khan adds:

For me, this encounter with Florence and her powerful song somehow navigated itself towards the element—water. But the direction of the dance also became a resistance to all things that wish to oppress, a sort of protest dance and yet a celebratory one towards a new found freedom.

Furthermore, the band have added additional shows to their 23-city North American fall headline tour, including second nights at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl September 26, Washington, D.C.’s The Anthem October 6 and New York’s Barclays Center October 10. Tickets are available to the public Friday, June 29, with pre-sales beginning Monday, June 25. Previously announced dates—on sale now—include Seattle, Portland, Nashville, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago and more. Visit florenceandthemachine.net for more information.

High As Hope was co-produced by Florence and Emile Haynie and features contributions from Kamasi Washington, Sampha, Tobias Jesso JrKelsey Lu, Jamie xx and Thomas Barlett. Watch the A.G. Rojas-directed video for first official single “Hunger” here.

The Leeu Collection invest in Alajmo S.P.A

Luxury hotel group Leeu Collection (www.leeucollection.com) has taken a 10% stake in Alajmo S.P.A (www.alajmo.it), the Italian family business established by brothers Massimiliano (Max) Alajmo, the world’s youngest three-star Michelin chef, and Raffaele (Raf), the company’s Chief Executive and maître des lieux.

The purchase mirrors previous investments made by Analjit (BAS) Singh, the owner of Leeu Collection, all of which have a family focus; companies such as South African Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines and Indian chef Ritu Dalmia’s Riga Foods and Mamagoto.

Alajmo S.p.A. operates four fine-dining restaurants and six café-bistros, including Le Calandre and La Montecchia restaurants in Padua, Caffè Stern in Paris and Grancaffè & Ristorante Quadri in St. Mark’s Square, Venice, as well as a line of food products and a special events business, all overseen by Max from Le Calandre, his vibrant culinary laboratory, which has held three Michelin stars since 2003.

Leeu Collection currently has three properties (Leeu Estates, Leeu House and Le Quartier Français) in Franschhoek, South Africa, with Linthwaite House in the Lake District due to re-open following a year-long refurbishment in June 2018. Two further hotels are under construction in London and Florence.

Said Raf Alajmo, CEO of Alajmo S.p.A., “Having, last year, bought back the shares once owned by Italian investment firm Palladio Finanziaria, my brother and I decided to open our doors to a foreign shareholder. A chance meeting with BAS in Milan has led to him purchasing a share of Alajmo S.p.A., in what we sincerely hope will be the first step towards a strong alliance between our two companies.”

In response, Analjit Singh said, “I am always attracted to invest in family businesses that share a similar vision to mine and, because there are a lot of synergies between Leeu and Alajmo, I feel sure that the results of this partnership will be seen for years to come.”

ARTEXPO NEW YORK

ARTEXPO NEW YORK CELEBRATES 40 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN ART

World’s largest international fine art marketplace returns to Pier 94, April 19—22, 2018

Artexpo New York XL presents [MAGNIFY] as the Anniversary theme that takes a look at over four decades of the artistic canvas through a retrospective lens

Redwood Media Group, the nation’s leader in exhibitions and event production, media, and marketing for the global fine art community, announces its highly anticipated four-day annual showcase and most coveted fine art experience that marks an unprecedented 40-year anniversary milestone.  Artexpo New York returns to Pier 94, located at 711 12th Avenue in Manhattan, from Thursday, April 19th to Sunday, April 22nd. Exhibitor or trade registration and purchasing of show passes or general admission tickets is now open at www.artexponewyork.com.

The annual fine art destination will once again offer Three Shows Within One Venue at the heart of Midtown Manhattan, across 135,000 square foot of uninterrupted convention space, known as “The Art & Design Pier.”  Artexpo New York XL will host more than 400 innovative exhibiting artists, galleries and publishers from across the globe, showcasing original artwork, prints, paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, ceramics, giclee, lithographs and glass works among other contemporary and fine art.

To celebrate 40 years of excellence in art, Artexpo New York presents [MAGNIFY] as the curatorial theme for 2018 – examining four decades of artistic expression through a retrospective lens.  During its 40-year history, Artexpo New York has hosted the likes of Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Keith Haring and Leroy Neiman; intensifying the discourse on today’s most pressing industry challenges and magnifying the very best the fine art world has to offer. In addition to coming to see the world’s largest fine art trade show, more than 35,000 avid art enthusiasts and industry leaders will return to enjoy [SOLO] highlighting established and independent emerging artists and [FOTO SOLO] featuring fine art photography from some of the world’s finest abstract, contemporary and realist photographers.  Artexpo New York XL will also feature its annual lineup of interactive and educational programming covering the industry’s topics and trends.

“This year’s Artexpo New York commemorates a very special milestone within the fine art industry,” says Eric Smith, president and CEO of Redwood Media Group. “For 40 years and counting, Artexpo New York has been changing the way people buy and sell art. Our annual curated expo brings the biggest publishers, galleries and collectors face-to-face with hundreds of established and emerging artists. [MAGNIFY] as our curatorial theme for this year’s expo offers a retrospective lens through which four decades of artistic excellence will be represented, examined and immortalized during all three shows.  With giant canvases, monumental sculptures and immersive installations, Artexpo New York is going to be larger than life – both in scale and conception.”

Hosting more than 35,000 avid art enthusiasts, including 5,000+ trade representatives every year, Artexpo New York is the largest international gathering of qualified trade buyers—including gallery owners and managers, art dealers, interior designers, architects, corporate art buyers, and art and framing retailers. Attendees will have an opportunity to browse thousands of innovative new works of art and enjoy education seminars, cocktail parties, live entertainment and other special events. [SOLO] offers established and emerging independent artists the opportunity to showcase their work on an international stage. Over the decades, [SOLO] has become the ultimate venue for independent artists to be discovered—not only by gallery owners and art publishers, but also by collectors and enthusiasts. [FOTO SOLO] includes collections of fine art photography by some of the world’s most acclaimed independent photographers.  The show has continued to partner with industry publishing experts, Digital Photo Pro and Outdoor Photographer, to reinforce its philosophy of supporting career opportunities of independent artists.

As part of the interactive schedule of programming, this year’s Artexpo New York will include Art Labs, featuring specially curated site-specific projects by prominent galleries, art institutions, and art collectives within the show; Spotlight Program, providing collectors with a focused look at several prominent artists and galleries that will each be creating a site-specific exhibition, and the LaunchPad Artist Program, showcasing an emerging and unrepresented artist who is selected to create an exhibition at the show, resulting from a collaboration among local art institutions, galleries, and Artexpo New York. This year’s expo also features the Topics & Trends Education Program, which includes four days of complimentary seminars and conference classes offering expert perspectives on subjects ranging from art and the economy, small business management and art marketing to design and decor trends and social media management for artists. The full schedule of programming activity will be announced in April.

An addition to this year’s Artexpo New York will include an artists Sculpture Garden – a dedicated installation at the rear of Pier 94, with more than 10 of today’s leading sculptors exhibiting their most impressive work. This area will also provide seating, allowing attendees to relax while they browse a number of exhibition partner and vendor stands in the surrounding vicinity.
