RENCE — “AWOOO!”

“Rence is in his own lane, defying the stigma that an artist has to be bound by any one genre.” – FLAUNT

“In a way that few artists can, Rence has redefined his sound with every new release.” – ONES TO WATCH

“Rence is one of the most promising vocalists in the music industry right now.” – LYRICAL LEMONADE

Critically acclaimed, buzzing singer, songwriter and produce Rence is back today with the heartfelt new single “AWOOO!” Get it HERE via Epic Records.

Hopeful and romantic on the surface, the breakout star’s latest release is actually a breakup song, even if not immediately apparent in the lyrics. “I love when you howl at the moon, I wanna lay here watching you,” the 23-year-old coos over dreamy guitars. “Til I’m howling too, like AWOOO!”

“I actually wrote it as a bookend to a relationship,” Rence says. “But it turned into a love song even as a goodbye.” Somber but full of life and color, “AWOOO!” became about the realization that even true love can fade. It covers the kind of complex emotional territory that Rence has tread since bursting onto the pop music scene while still studying at NYU.

“AWOOO!” follows the exuberant anthem “Endless,” which was released at the top of 2021 and showcases his trademark vulnerability and emotional nuance. With more new music on the horizon, he continues to create a kaleidoscopic pop sound, while experimenting with everything from electro to hip hop.

Over the last few years, Rence has established himself as one of pop’s most unguarded young stars. When he isn’t crafting transparently emotional singles like “Strawberry Blonde” and “Type 2,” he’s lifting the veil on his artistic process in a series of TikTok videos. At the same time, the artist/producer has also stayed busy with collaborations, recording music with Sarah Barrios, Alex Port, Chloe Lilac and Johan Lenox. Since debuting, Rence has amassed more than 50 million cumulative streams and continues to expand his fan base with each release. “AWOOO!” further builds out the emotional complexity and intricate instrumentals at the core of his songs, reminding listeners that there are poignant messages behind every infectious melody.

ABOUT RENCE:

Sharing real life snapshots in song, Rence magnifies his personal perspective through a genre-less palette, bordering pop, alternative, electro, indie and hip-hop all at once, yet never dipping into one for too long. He first introduced himself on the breakthrough independent project, Pink, featuring standout single “Baby Blue.” In 2019, after signing to Epic Records, he followed with the release of “Expensive” [feat. Noah Cyrus] and his major label debut EP, FALL 2019. Over the last year, his consistent output continued with the bold and buzz-y “hate u, btw,” “Type 2,” “Tears in December,” “Sometimes Things Just Fall Apart,” “Strawberry Blonde” and “Endless.” With over 50 million streams and counting, Rence has received acclaim from the likes of Pigeons and Planes (who named him “Best New Artist” Dec 2019), The FADER, Lyrical Lemonade, Nylon, Billboard, V Magazine, Paper, i-D, Wonderland, Flaunt and Zane Lowe.

Talia Goddess – Poster Girl

As a pioneer of Brooklyn youth culture and a multifaceted creative, Tayahna Walcott, professionally known as Talia Goddess, releases her newest self-produced single Poster Girl on all streaming platforms off her forthcoming, debut EP.

Talia Goddess is a nineteen-year-old multi-hyphenate creative: singer-songwriter, rapper, producer, DJ, model, and community leader. Poster Girl is the third single off an EP of the same name to be released in Fall 2021. This track, like the EP, serves as a time-capsule of her teenage/high school years and experiences with love, identity, sexuality, loss, and growth. It is a reflective body of work on where she was mentally, emotionally, and spiritually the songs’ creation span from 2018 to 2020, and it’s also a reflection of her growth as an artist and my journey of finding her sound and avenue. Of the track, she says:

“Poster Girl has been long in the making, written and produced by me, and explores a theme of coming into an identity as a public figure or “Poster Girl” whose exterior is adored and idolized by many but in reality, is only the surface level to who I am.”

Talia Goddess merges her many talents as a self-taught singer-songwriter, rapper, music, producer, DJ, model, creative entrepreneur, and community leader to galvanize the next generation of creatives and push culture forward. Co-signed by the likes of A$AP Ferg, at the forefront of global campaigns with Converse, Tommy Hilfiger, MCM and editorials with Vogue, Refinery29, i-D, the queer vocalist-rapper hybrid seeks to leave her mark in a tangible form, impacting people through the words and rhythms that ultimately mirror how they feel inside, but can’t find the words to adequately express.

Determined to not be confined by the bounds of societal pressures, industry standards, and social conditioning, Talia has cultivated her own identity and seeks to bring various forms of art and expression under one umbrella in an unconventional way. An alchemist of words, an astute leader and cultural innovator, Talia Goddess is determined to help foster a safe and inclusive space for queer, black people such as herself and redefine and challenge the norms and expectations placed upon youth.

ROSELAND COMMUNITY HOSPITAL SERVES CHICAGO’S SOUTH SIDE

With a rich and storied history in the Greater Roseland Area, Roseland Community Hospital demonstrates a stellar example of a community hospital that is both owned and operated by the people that it serves

Since opening in 1924, the Roseland Community Hospital, or RCH for short, has been offering comprehensive healthcare services to residents of Chicago’s far South Side neighborhoods, including outpatient services, a well-known Obstetrics Unit, behavioral health services, and most recently plays host to a COVID-19 clinic. The Hospital, which is located in the Greater Roseland Area at 45 W. 111th St., is open 24-hours, and strives to satisfy the community and offer quality resources to each individual, a mission it has maintained since its inception. At the forefront, professional caregivers provide valuable services to patient’s recovery and overall wellness. Throughout the myriad of social, economic and political changes that have dramatically affected the neighborhoods, the Hospital has maintained a strategic focus to help those they serve. Throughout the calendar year, the team at the Roseland Hospital has created special programming as a way to give back to its surrounding community, with various activations scheduled including a Back to School celebration, an annual coat drive, a Giving Tuesday and Toy Drive initiative and much more.

“Our vision has been, and continues to be, to develop quality hospital programs and services that enable our community residents to grow and live healthy lifestyles,” said Tim Egan, President and CEO of the Roseland Community Hospital. “We see ourselves as a major lifeline to many in the surrounding communities, and will continue to strive and satisfy this community we call home.”

Due to the rich history in the Greater Roseland Area, the neighborhood surrounding the hospital has continually evolved beginning with a Dutch settlement in 1840. Since then, most importantly, “The Great Migration” played a major role in immigrants and thousands of African Americans pouring into the community in search of employment opportunities. Today, African Americans comprise of ninety-nine percent of Roseland Community Hospital’s patients; and seventy-five percent of RCH’s administrators, doctors, nurses and staff. Increasingly, the community has also been seeing a rising percentage of Latino residents to the area.

The Hospital provides a wide range of services including an Obstetrics Unit, Behavioral Health Services, a Medical Stabilization Unit, Outpatient Services, a Mobile Dental Clinic, a COVID-19 Clinic and a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. Roseland Community Hospital has experienced the privilege of providing healthcare services for the people who currently call Roseland their home.

AUX DUCS DE SIENNE OPENS IN MONTAGNE

Opening of a four-star boutique-hotel, Aux Ducs De Sienne, in Montagne near Saint-Emilion

Saint-Emilion’s tourist infrastructure continues to expand

In the old presbytery of the Mountain and its park, a complete renovation program, led by the architecture firm of Charlotte Allard, promises a new and exclusive experience, combining a chic and comfortable atmosphere, a bright, warm decoration in a setting ideal for recharging your batteries, working from a distance, taking a break, and discovering the superb landscapes of this “little Tuscany,” a stone’s throw from Saint-Emilion.

The elegant and understated rooms have retained a slight fragrance of meditation, close to the Church of Saint Martin, a small marvel of Roman art that flanks the light stone building.

A few carefully chosen details are highlighted by the purity of the lines, a kind of luxurious asceticism that helps creativity, contemplation and rest.

The calm of the enclosed park is a joy that the occupants of the rooms with private terraces opening onto the garden will particularly appreciate.

On the first floor, the rooms offer, beyond the walls of the park, a perspective on the vineyards and the valleys as far as the Moulins de Calon.

The adjoining restaurant La Réserve du Presbytère (Bib gourmand, Michelin guide 2021) is a delight for hotel guests for breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Room service is also provided by the restaurant’s kitchen. On request, meals are served on the private terraces!

Chef Jean-François Robert concocts special menus for detox weekends or “telework” weeks.

A fully equipped seminar room is available. It is possible to privatize the hotel and the restaurant for corporate, (seminars, groups) and family events (meals served up to 120 guests).

Hairdressing, manicure, make-up, massages and florist services are available in your room.

The hotel concierge is responsible for helping all guests in a personalized way so that their vacation is unforgettable in this region where there is certainly no shortage of visits and activities! Electric bikes with audio guides are also available.

Last but not least, the hotel shop offers magnificent custom designed leather goods in the colors and logo of the Dukes of Siena.

Ringling College of Art and Design × Smithsonian

Ten Ringling College of Art and Design Illustration students created a series of biographical sketches for the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) based upon the lives of ten women artists whose work is featured in the Museum’s collection. With aligned missions to inspire creativity and provide platforms for professional experience, the project was a collaboration between SAAM and Ringling College’s INDEX program.  As winners of the INDEX competition, the ten students created short comics comprised of 12 to 16 frames apiece to convey the story of each of the ten women artists, some of whom may not have received the attention they deserved in their lifetimes.

The ten winning students were chosen from the 29 Illustration students that entered the Ringling College INDEX competition. Each winning student received a $1,000 award and the opportunity to gain professional experience by working on Drawn to Art: Ten Tales of Inspiring Women Artists. All ten comics are viewable HERE.

“This INDEX project with the Smithsonian American Art Museum has been a phenomenal career-advancing opportunity for our students,” said Ringling College of Art and Design President Dr. Larry R. Thompson. “Working to tell the stories of these important women artists has drawn upon our students’ talent, creativity and ability to work collaboratively with faculty advisors and Smithsonian American Art Museum staff, providing valuable professional experience prior to graduation. We are very impressed with, and proud of, their work.”

In creating this project, the Smithsonian American Art Museum wanted to give young people the opportunity to identify with the struggles and triumphs of ten visionaries and rule breakers, to see themselves reflected, and to draw strength from that visibility.
