Madonna Launches Fundraiser for Malawian Orphans

Madonna today announced a partnership with Facebook and global payments company Ripple to activate her fans, kick off a month-long celebration of her 60th birthday, and raise funds for orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi. The fundraiser, which benefits Madonna’s foundation Raising Malawi, is hosted on her Facebook page and will run from July 30 through August 31. Fans can choose to donate directly to Madonna’s fundraiser and/or start Facebook Fundraisers of their own to mobilize their social networks in support of the cause.

The fundraiser utilizes Facebook’s charitable giving tools, which charge no processing fees, meaning 100% of every contribution goes directly to Raising Malawi’s work at Home of Hope orphanage, located in a rural, high-need area of Malawi.

As a company that cares deeply about giving back and eliminating barriers that keep marginalized populations from fully participating in our global digital economy, Ripple has announced it will be matching all donations to Madonna’s fundraiser.

“I have an unwavering commitment to providing vulnerable children with a loving home. For my birthday, I can think of no better gift than connecting my global family with this beautiful country and the children who need our help most,” said Madonna. “Every dollar raised will go directly to meals, schools, uniforms and healthcare. I want to come together with my friends, fans and supporters to change the lives of Malawian children and let them know they are nurtured, protected and loved. Through their generous match, Ripple is doubling the impact each individual can make.”

“We’re honored to be a part of Madonna’s amazing work with some of the world’s most underserved children and are grateful to our investors at Sound Ventures for making the introduction to us and this important cause,” said Eric van Miltenburg, SVP of Business Operations at Ripple.

In her 10+ years of working in Malawi, Madonna – through her foundation – has served 10,000+ children with schools and education, provided scholarship funding for high-potential youth, launched Malawi’s first paediatric surgery and intensive care unit, and supported 750+ vulernable children annually at Home of Hope.

Nearly one million children in Malawi have lost one or both parents to HIV. Life for these orphans and vulnerable children is about day-to-day survival. Inspired by a belief that orphans and vulnerable children deserve more than to “just survive,” Raising Malawi works with local partners to create opportunities for kids to learn, grow and transform their futures.

Madonna’s fundraiser will run through the month of August to mark the musician and philanthropist’s birthday on August 16.

DaniLeigh

When the end of Summer hits, the desire to rewind time kicks in, reliving every magical moment from the season’s past. It’s a vibe that newcomer DaniLeigh has managed to encapsulate in her debut EP Summer With Friends, coming soon. The 22-year-old singing and dancing phenomenon cut her teeth in the business when she directed a music video for her late mentor, Prince. She enhanced her buzz with back-to-back jams “Play” (featuring Kap G) and “Lurkin’”, and is here to continue her mission of making music that both sounds and feels good.

The South Florida native had music in her blood, singing from a young age. As an early teen, DaniLeigh recorded YouTube covers of songs like Musiq Soulchild’s “So Beautiful,” though she wasn’t quite ready for the big time. “I was really shy,” she admits, “and I didn’t realize the unique sound of my voice until later on.” It wasn’t until a few years later when she moved to Los Angeles at 16 that DaniLeigh began harnessing her craft. In LA she found her footing in the music industry, starting with dancing. “I was dancing in music videos, commercials, you name it,” she recalls. “From there, I met a lot of producers onset and just networked.” Singing became the secret weapon, as DaniLeigh would reveal her chops and be invited to studios for recording sessions. However, a life-changing encounter with the legendary Prince would be the real catalyst.

After learning of DaniLeigh’s talents as a dancer (through a one-minute video clip), the Purple One reached out to have her direct his video for “Breakfast Can Wait” at just 18 years old. The video hit worldwide, appearing on networks like MTV, BET, and REVOLT. Prince ultimately took DaniLeigh under his wing, mentoring her budding singing career. His untimely death in 2016 left a void in DaniLeigh’s life, though his presence is still felt as DaniLeigh’s star is only getting brighter.

“Play” truly kicked things off. The high-energy single is described by DaniLeigh as an empowering anthem for women. “It’s a bold statement,” she says of the cut, which carries a message of “making a play” in all areas of life. “I’m a very positive person and this song I feel can help motivate people to put in that work,” she says. Bringing Kap G (who is of Mexican descent) into the fold as a feature was her way of uniting more Latinos in music, as DaniLeigh’s Dominican heritage is evident in both her style and sound. The single “Lurkin’” immediately followed, as a slick nod to social those stalkers who don’t congratulate moves, yet look on from the social media sidelines. The song even made its way to the HBO hit series Insecure. The stage is now set for DaniLeigh to show the diverse angles of her talent on a grander scale.

Aptly titled Summer With Friends, the upcoming EP sums up DaniLeigh’s past few months, which she lightheartedly describes as “just having fun and working.” The relatable nature of the project brings forth the aforementioned singles, along with feel good songs that channel the young artist’s inspirations including Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, and Drake while showing her ability to fuse hip-hop and R&B with poppier electronic-driven vibes. Songs like “Questions” playfully target those relationship interrogation sessions (Where were you? Who were you with?), while “Ex” is a self-explanatory track about the now-single artist’s previous romance. “He got one song,” she jokes. Other cuts like the infectious “On” and “All I Know” show DaniLeigh’s versatility within the pop-urban landscape, while “All Day” highlights her Dominican roots. “That’s a bachata beat underneath [the production],” she proudly points out. “The time right now is in alignment, showing that things are going the right way.” As DaniLeigh unveils her debut Summer With Friends and the projects that follow, she maintains her goal of positive music, though has one wish involving one important angel by her side. “I always say I wish Prince was here to see all of this happening with me right now,” she says. “It’s okay though. I know he’s watching.”

Singer & Songwriter RAYLA

Let’s talk about your single “Boys Like You” – Can you tell us a bit about the song and the creation/recording process?

I love the creative process of writing songs, you never know what you are going to get when you go into the studio. “Boys Like You” was not really something I planned. It came out of a very personal experience. I was in a pretty unhealthy relationship where no matter how badly I was being treated, I kept going back. Once I realized it and that I didn’t need him anymore, I got out! Writing the single “Boys Like You” is actually what helped me to get OUT of that bad relationship. I really wanted to share the experience because so many girls may be going through the same thing. The song really has an empowering message and I’m so excited by the support and reaction it has been getting.

Can you share about the kinds of songs you write and what motivates you when you’re writing a song?

All aspects of my life give me ideas for songs. Things my friends are going through, things I see at the movies or events that are going on in the world, even a conversation I have with someone can spark an idea for a new song. My songs are like my personal diary I just let the world see. Lately I have been writing really happy songs and songs that I think are empowering to woman today.

How would you describe your sound?

My sound is definitely a little more on the pop side. Honestly, I just love to create music so I don’t usually put a box on my sound, I sort of let it figure itself out.

Which artists are you looking up to now?

My music taste changes all the time. Currently I really like Ed Sheeran, because of the way he writes his music and does his live performances. It’s very acoustic and feels very real. Camila Cabello is another artist who I really like her sound and her independence. She seems authentic and like that she’s her own person. And also, Halsey because she is just so dope and I would love to sing with her someday.

If you could collaborate with any other artist, who would it be?

That’s a really hard question because there are hundreds of people I could pick, but right now I would probably choose Ed Sheeran. I’m so intrigued on his writing styles and how authentic he is, so I think it’d be so cool to experience a session with him.

What can fans be expecting from you in the near future?

Definitely new music on the way! I’ve filmed music videos for some of my new material that I’m really excited to be released. And I have a few surprises coming as well!

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not in the studio?

I recently got my driver’s license so this summer my friends and I have spent a lot of time at the beach. I really love hanging with my friends and being a normal teenager.

Where can we find you on social media?

2019 Rolls Royce Cullinan, Effortless Everywhere: The Super Luxury Lifestyle Vehicle

By Shin Takei

Cullinan, the first, Super Luxury SUV from Rolls Royce came about because of demands from a customer base whose profile includes young or young at heart, affluent, demanding, cutting edge, stylish, leaders in their own fields and successful like the many readers of The 360 Magazine. You want to go all over the place without compromising comfort or quality whether on the highway or off road like in a Rolls Royce kind of way. The Cullinan is imposing as it stands tall and is unmistakably a Rolls Royce. Unlike the familiar two-box SUVs the Cullinan is a three-box design with a trunk area that extends beyond the tailgate. This is reminiscent of Rolls Royce from the 1930s which were equipped with an outside travel trunk for your belongings. The rear luggage area of the Cullinan is separated from the passenger compartment by a glass wall so that the passenger compartment noise level and temperature is controlled for maximum comfort. It will definitely stand out from the crowd and you will be noticed. It is powered by a 6.75 Liter twin-turbo V12 with 563bhp and 627lb-ft of torque with all-wheel drive and all wheel steering. Part of the All Aluminum Architecture shared with the new Phanton and future models, it offers incredible rigidity and features that expands the parameters of the flexible chassis.

The Cullinan features doors that open and close by a touch of the remote key or the door handles and the bottom curves inwards so that no trousers or long skirts can be soiled by dripping residue from the rain or having fun mid romping. The car also lowers itself 1.6 inches to make ingress and egress easy. Open the door and a whiff of exclusive leather aroma titillates the olfactory nerves. Beautiful wood veneers, jewel like finish on switches and knobs grace the interior. The high quality of the materials are what you come to expect from Rolls Royce and again Bespoke is the word here and there’s no end to what you can achieve to individualize your very own Cullinan. The central infotainment screen is now touch sensitive but there is the Spirit of Ecstasy dial in case you prefer to use it manually. There are two configurations for the rear seating; the Lounge Seat for owners with family that sits three across of the Individual Seats with a fixed center console that incorporates a drinks cabinet, Rolls Royce crystal whiskey glasses and decanter, champagne flutes and refrigerator. This luxurious feature come in handy when you deploy two rear-facing seats from below the rear luggage area by a touch of a button. These are no cheap jump seats but made to match the other leather material and interior feature sand is called a Viewing Suite. This is an elegant way to watch a cricket match or waves crashing near the ocean. It’s what we call a tail gate party on this side of the pond. By the way, rear seat passengers sit higher than the front so they have a commanding view out the large windows.

The Cullinan is at home on every terrain with the Magic Carpet Ride. There’s a Off-Road button commonly called the Everywhere Button that takes care of surfaces like rough road, gravel, wet grass, mud, snow and sand. This delivers torque to each wheel smoothly and without interruption. With input from electronically controlled shock absorbers, steering inputs, camera info and body and wheel acceleration, the air suspension system adjusts to current conditions a million times a second. In addition to the Off-Road button, there is a Hill Descent button and Air Suspension ride height button that makes it real simple to adjust.

The 2019 Rolls Royce Cullinan is a welcome addition to the Super Luxury SUV class with its elegant yet imposing looks and commanding presence. We anticipate the Cullinan to land on our shores late fall so we will be giving it a test drive then.

Playboi Carti’s New Tour

By Alexis Rojas

As of date,  the Atlanta based Hip-Hop artist Playboi Carti kicked off his second performance of his 21-city tour at Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

Carti performed many of his biggest hits from his debut album De Lit along with many fan favorites from his Spring 2017 Mixtape titled Playboi Carti, which also includes his most popular up-to-date song, “Magnolia.”

Traveling back down in memory lane, Carti definitely started from the bottom. Growing up in a poverty-stricken Atlanta household, he manages to become one of the most successful music artists in the world.

Much of his success can be accredited to his team as well as A$AP Rocky who serves as his mentor. The two share a bond that only a genuine friendship can relate to. They’re so close that they even like to jokingly roast each other on their Instagrams and you can find it here.

Signed to Interscope Records, Carti first caught their attention with his catchy beats paired with his high energy performance and a brilliant display of pyrotechnics executed with beaming bright lights throughout the production.

Carti’s openers included members of his crew, LB, Drupey Kane, and Sheck Wess. Each performer brought out their best as they showed their individual unique style of music.

Hyping the crowd up was no problem as Carti’s appearance brought screams of excitement from his fans. Songs of his he performed were “Poke it Out” and “R.I.P.”

To finish everything off, Tyler the Creator made a surprise appearance. With him by Carti’s side, both artists were able to make the concert even more epic.

Feeding Our Warriors Daughters

IN THE TREATMENT OF ADULT WOMEN, we often hold discussions on powerful women being “warriors” in recovery, overcoming the trials of an eating disorder and likely other hardships.

IN WORKING WITH ADOLESCENT GIRLS, I sometimes hear comments on how “sweet” the work of younger girls must be by comparison, or sometimes even how “sad” it must be to see younger girls’ struggle. In response, I routinely say that these girls are the truest warriors – a path less refined by age, but sometimes with just as many battle marks.

SO, HOW DO WE EMPOWER our adolescent girls to be warriors in their recovery while also holding space for them to stay at a developmentally-appropriate place in their life and recovery work?

12-Year-Old Nutrition Expert Shares Kids Can Be Active & Healthy

by Kai Nunziato-Cruz

Hey Guys! Kai here from Generation Kai! As a 12 year old I’m just like you, getting ready to go back to school to see my friends again. Oh yeah, and I’m going into the 7th grade! You probably don’t know who I am, and I don’t know who you are so we’re even.

360 Magazine, Kai Nunziato-Cruz

Last year I published a book called, “Digest This Now for Kids!” it’s a quick and easy read about how your body works and what you need to do to get and stay healthy. I talk about everything from food to stress (we’re not supposed to be stressed as kids but some of us are). You’d think we as kids don’t need to learn how to get and stay healthy, we’re kids, we’re supposed to be healthy. So many of us are tired, overweight, on lots of medicines already for whatever health issues we are having. I don’t know about you, but I believe at our age, this shouldn’t be happening! I get asked to write articles for magazines and online blogs all the time to give kids (and even adults) tips on how to be healthier. So, if you’re ready to get healthy and stay healthy this article is for you!

I saw an unbelievable statistic recently at a recent visit to my doctor’s office for my check-up. I thought it would make for a great article.

AMAZING STATISTIC: For every 2 hours you spend on the couch, you increase your chances of obesity by 25%.

As Buddy the Elf would say, “that’s shocking”. I mean, that’s a pretty high percentage. And most people these days are spending 4 – 5 hours on the couch every night so does that mean they are increasing their chances by 50%?

They say the reason is because when you are sitting for long periods of time you obviously aren’t moving your body, so being stagnant doesn’t help. The only thing that moves the lymph is us moving the body. If the body doesn’t move, the lymph doesn’t move. When the lymph gets backed up the toxic build-up begins which includes weight gain.

On top of this many people eat mindlessly while they watch TV – grabbing a bag of their favorite treat and eating away without even realizing how much they’re eating. Eating while watching TV is one of the most dangerous things you can do to your body. When your brain is watching TV you completely lose the mind body connection between your brain and your stomach. Your stomach can’t communicate that you are full so you keep eating.

I know many people watch hours of TV at night as a way to relax. But I’d like to challenge you to find new ways to relax. It doesn’t have to cost money to get up and do things; a walk around the block for example, trying out a new sport like tennis or racquetball, riding your bicycle around the neighborhood, go to your local park, play hide and seek around the house or play a board game, plant a garden, visit a friend, volunteer at a local hospital, take up a new hobby, etc. Honestly anything else you do aside from sit and watch TV every single night of the week is going to be better for your health – both physical health and mental health. To watch a couple of my YouTube videos on some of the things I like to do instead of watching TV click here and here, don’t forget to like and subscribe while you’re there.

I just want to challenge you to start with one night a week of doing something different. I think you will find it very refreshing and you might want to do it more and more as the weeks go on.
