Million Dollar Listing: Ryan’s Renovation

BRAVO GETS TO WORK WITH FOUR-EPISODE LIMITED SERIES “MILLION DOLLAR LISTING: RYAN’S RENOVATION” ON JUNE 3RD AT 10:15PM ET/PT

Bravo brings Greek traditions to Brooklyn in the new limited series Million Dollar Listing: Ryan’s Renovation premiering Thursday, June 3 at 10:15pm ET/PT. After purchasing a multi-million-dollar townhouse for their expanding family, Ryan Serhant and wife, Emilia, gut the newly acquired 7,900 square foot home to create the home of their dreams with enough room for their big Greek family. In each episode, viewers will see the transformation of the constantly evolving townhouse, with more than a few hiccups along the away.

While the vision for the vast, five-floor property started as a home for daughter Zena to grow up in, it’s expanded into an inn for the couples’ extended family. Embracing Emilia’s very large Greek family, they are building out the basement level as a suite for Ryan’s mother-in-law…but with mom comes dad, sister, brother, and the rest of the family. Since everyone wants a room, everyone wants their opinions heard. With so many voices chiming in, the Greek chorus starts to sound like chaos.

In a renovation of this magnitude, there are always bumps and curveballs, including COVID-postponements, elevator installations, questioned decisions, and millions spent over budget. In an empty, concrete shell of a property, can Ryan see a forever home to grow old in, or will the chaotic, expensive construction make an unexpected multi-million dollar offer worth considering?

Watch a sneak peak right here

Million Dollar Listing: Ryan’s Renovation is produced by World of Wonder with Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey, Tom Campbell, Nick Prescott and Kevin Maynard serving as Executive Producers.

Electric Car Popularity In Europe

15 European Countries Had Highest Share of EVs in New Car Sales in 2020; Norway Highest – 75% Share

European nations are leading the way in new Electric Vehicle (EV) sales despite the emergence of Mainland China as the biggest market for EVs. According to data presented by Trading Platforms, 15 European countries had the highest share of plug-in EVs in new passenger car sales in 2020 – Norway had the highest at 75%

Norway A Positive Outlier In New EV Sales

Electric Vehicles have become more popular in recent times, accounting for 4.2% of the world’s total light-vehicle sales in 2020 compared to just 2.5% in 2019. Only eight countries achieved an EV share of 5% or higher in 2019, but in 2020 13 countries were able to cross the 10% mark of new light-vehicle sales.

Norway leads all nations by a wide margin with an incredible 74.8% plug-in EV share of new passenger car sales in 2020. Iceland was a distant second at 45% making them the only other country to have an EV share that accounted for more than a third of its total new light-vehicle sales in 2020.

Europe Leading The Way In New EV Sales

The top 15 countries with the highest EV share of new light-vehicle sales in 2020 were all European. China is the first country outside of Europe to feature on the rankings with 6.2%, for the 16th highest share in the world, despite being the largest market for EVs in terms of unit sales. Notably, the USA is well below the top nations at just 2.3%

Rex Pascual, Editor at Trading Platforms , commented on the rise of Europe’’s EV market;

“EV had a strong 2020 despite the economic downturn caused by the pandemic. Many rich European nations effectively use policies such as tax exemptions and subsidies to encourage the purchase of EVs, making the continent a robust emerging market in the ever going EV industry.”

Winnetka Bowling × Sasha Sloan – barcelona

WINNETKA BOWLING LEAGUE TEAMS UP WITH SASHA SLOAN FOR NEW SINGLE “barcelona”

LISTEN/ WATCH THE ANIMATED VIDEO HERE

Today, Winnetka Bowling League and Sasha Sloan release a new single accompanied by a lovely animated video for barcelona out now via RCA Records.

The track was produced by Winnetka frontman Matthew Koma, and co-written by Koma, Dan Book and Sasha Sloan. Wistful lyrics It doesn’t mean, it doesn’t mean that I loved you any less/Just cause we reached the end are surrounded by a dreamy, indie pop bouncing melodies, a signature sound that Koma and band excel at.

Matthew Koma of Winnetka Bowling League offers barcelona is a song about still being able to have love for the person that it didn’t work out with. I always feel the urge to discredit every ounce of a relationship after it’s over because it feels way better than scrolling the highlight feed…but sometimes there was a lot of good worth recognizing & the ending doesn’t have to be this big dramatic ‘delete all.’ I had a super rough voice note of the chorus on it, and I sent it to Sasha.  She told me to finish it, and when I did, she was sweet enough to lend her voice to it.

Sasha Sloan continues Winnetka Bowling League opened for me on tour (before Covid and the world fell apart). Matt and I hit it off on the road and we’ve kept in touch ever since. When he sent me ‘barcelona,’ I fell in love with it and wanted to jump on the track!

barcelona is the first single from Winnetka Bowling League’s forthcoming EP and follows their 2020 critically-acclaimed Congratulations.

The Los Angeles Times declared their debut On The 5 as an undeniably anthemic pop, V Magazine described Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Matthew Koma…[as] raw and honest, possessing a dry sense of humor that is reflected in both his songs and his mannerisms…[Winnetka Bowling League is] the perfect pairing of deep lyrical content and alternative rock melodies, and Idolator raved Winnetka Bowling League continues to roll out hands-in-the-air pop/rock anthems at an alarming rate.

Dogecoin Interest Spikes

Interest in Dogecoin on Google spikes by 3,000% in 2021 led by the US and Turkey

Data acquired by cryptocurrency trading simulator Crypto Parrot indicates that the global interest in Dogecoin had surged by 3,233% between January and May 9, 2021, when it peaked with a popularity score of 100. During the same period, Dogecoin’s price has spiked by a whopping 12,650%.

The United States has recorded the highest interest in the meme-coin on Google Search with a peak score of 100, followed by Turkey at 86. Canada ranks third with a popularity score of 76. The asset has a popularity score of 62 in Singapore, followed by the Netherlands with 61.

Other countries recording a high volume of interest in Dogecoin include Australia (50), Austria (44), Nigeria (42), Ireland (41), and Slovenia (39)

Dogecoin emerges as the emblem of meme investing

The rise in Dogecoin began in early 2021, and the report explores the trigger for the spike in interest. According to the research report:

In general, Dogecoin’s momentum began building after investors were eager to find out the next big hit after the excitement around GameStop and other stocks faltered. GameStop stock surged after members of the famous WallStreetBets subreddit rallied the price to new levels. Dogecoin has, therefore, emerged as an emblem of meme investing, a trend that has helped drive up the stocks of GameStop. These stocks have flipped the traditional concept of value on its head.

The rise in Dogecoin culminated in the asset hitting a new all-time high of $0.73. Notably, the interest was also sparked by celebrities. However, Tesla founder Elon Musk has been at the center of the asset’s extraordinary price movement. He regularly tweets in support of the asset.

COVID-19 Wastewater Testing

COVID-19 Wastewater Testing Proves Effective in New Study, Research Offers Needed Guidance for Early Detection in Nursing Homes, Dorms

Wastewater testing is an effective way to identify new cases of COVID-19 in nursing homes and other congregate living settings, and it may be particularly useful for preventing outbreaks in college dormitories, a new University of Virginia study finds.

The research, a collaboration of UVA’s School of Medicine and School of Engineering, was led by UVA Health’s Amy Mathers, MD. It offers some of the first clear guidance on the most effective methods to perform testing to detect COVID-19 in wastewater.

The researchers evaluated and compared sampling and analysis techniques by testing them within buildings with known numbers of positive cases. They were then able to determine wastewater testing’s strengths and limitations as a tool for monitoring COVID-19 in a building population. For example, the technique proved better at detecting initial infections than determining the number of occupants infected or how long they had been infected.

One important answer revealed by the research: Wastewater testing can detect even small numbers of asymptomatic cases, something not previously documented.

“This work could be applied to surveillance in buildings where people live in groups, where transmission may be hard to control but the risk of spread could be high,” said Mathers, an infectious disease expert in the School of Medicine’s Department of Pathology. “Since we can identify new infections with high sensitivity, it provides an early warning signal of when to test everyone in the building to find and isolate the newly infected persons before an outbreak becomes large.”

Wastewater Testing for COVID-19

To evaluate the effectiveness of wastewater testing for detecting COVID-19, Mathers collaborated with Lisa Colosi-Peterson, PhD, an associate professor in UVA Engineering’s Department of Engineering Systems and Environment, who connected with Mathers through UVA’s Center for Engineering in Medicine. They and their colleagues monitored wastewater from two student dormitory complexes for eight weeks. They then compared their findings to the results of periodic student testing UVA had implemented to prevent COVID-19 transmission. The researchers found that the wastewater testing caught more than 96% of cases.

One limitation of wastewater testing: It could not distinguish between new infections and virus found in stool from those who had recovered and were no longer contagious. That means the wastewater testing detected both active and former cases. “The inability to distinguish recently infected but no longer contagious persons from new contagious infections within a building is an important finding, as it means that wastewater testing would be best for identifying new cases and isolating individuals in groups without recent infections,” Mathers said.

UVA’s new research also establishes useful protocols for wastewater testing. In a scientific paper outlining their findings, the researchers describe how they collected and tested the samples, noting that refrigerating the samples on ice adequately preserved them for testing that same day. Institutions that plan to send their samples elsewhere for testing, however, may need to take additional steps to preserve the samples for longer, the researchers note. Cleansers and disinfectants used in the facilities could also degrade the viral RNA over time, they caution.

While the researchers are urging further study, they conclude that wastewater testing holds great promise for detecting and controlling COVID-19 in places where people live in close quarters. “Passive pooled surveillance of wastewater is now serving as an early warning system in many dormitories, barracks and prisons to identify new cases in situations where transmission risk is high,” Mathers said. “Applications for wastewater surveillance to inform and control infectious disease transmission will continue to evolve, but it is hard to believe how far and how fast we have come in the last year.”

Findings Published

The project was a collaborative effort of UVA’s School of Medicine, School of Engineering, School of Data Science and UVA Health’s Facilities Management. The research team consisted of Colosi-Peterson, Katie E. Barry, Shireen M. Kotay, Michael D. Porter, Melinda D. Poulter, Cameron Ratliff, William Simmons, Limor I. Steinberg, D. Derek Wilson, Rena Morse, Paul Zmick and Mathers.

The researchers have published their findings in the scientific journal Applied and Environmental Microbiology.

The work was supported by a UVA Engineering in Medicine Seed Grant and support from the University Reopening Committee.
