Reebok – Tom & Jerry

Today, Reebok, in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, debuted its highly anticipated collaboration with beloved television cartoon series, Tom & Jerry. The result: a footwear and apparel collection for adults, kids and toddlers that unites Reebok’s iconic styles and Tom & Jerry’s’ classic, Saturday-morning cartoon heritage, available online and at select retailers worldwide beginning February 15th. 
 
Hero to the collection are four footwear styles that provoke Tom & Jerry’s long-standing fun-loving rivalry:
 
Instapump Fury x Tom ($200): Bold and aggressive like the conniving feline, the Instapump Fury x Tom is designed with a cold grey upper and fleece material mimicking fur, with cartoon yellow hits throughout. Club C x Tom & Jerry ($100): For fans who don’t pick sides, or those who simply love the show, two additional Club C x Tom & Jerry models highlight the cartoon in its entirety. The first is designed with a paper white upper, all-over cartoon sketch graphics and asymmetric sock liners featuring Tom & Jerry logos and character graphics. This style is also available in toddler ($50), preschool ($65) and grade school  ($70) sizing. The second – a subtle chalk and quiet pink colorway – features visual animations and sound FX graphics on each heal, while the “Tom & Jerry” logo replaces the “Reebok” wordmark on the upper window box.

In 1984, the Iron Man of 2020 visited from the future in MACHINE MAN #2. Now, decades later, that future has arrived! Just announced at the Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing Panel at New York Comic-Con, IRON MAN 2020 kicks off in January and begins an event that will redefine one of Marvel’s most iconic heroes!

Recent teasers have hinted at the tragic fate of Tony Stark, and now readers will see his long-lost brother, Arno Stark, take over as Iron Man. How he tackles the responsibilities that come with being the armored Avenger will have monumental effects on the Marvel Universe. Dan Slott and Christos Gage, a superstar duo of longtime Marvel writers, have crafted an Iron Man saga for the ages, and with art by the incomparable Pete Woods, this is an event that was worth waiting decades for!

“Like the inexorable turning of pages on a calendar, we’ve been building up to the arrival of 2020 and the advent of Arno Stark as Iron Man ever since this latest run began,” says Executive Editor Tom Brevoort. “Here, all of the larger themes we’ve been playing with will come to the fore in a big, sweeping, epic action movie that anyone can enjoy!”

Pokémon x UNIQLO UT 2019 Grand Prix

UNIQLO announces that it will launch UNIQLO T-shirts (UTs) featuring winning designs from its Pokémon-themed UT GRAND PRIX 2019 design contest. Items will become available from June 28th at UNIQLO stores and through UNIQLO.com.

The contest attracted a record of more than 18,000 entries worldwide, reflecting the staggering popularity of Pokémon. The judging panel selected 22 winning designs.

Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival

Birders descend on Morro Bay each year over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend to attend the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival and capture glimpses of the massive migrating madness as they dive, swoop and scatter by the hundreds. This is Insta-worthy at its finest. But, you don’t have to attend the festival to marvel at these fine feathered friends because Morro Bay is a distinctive coastal destination for birds migrating along the Pacific Flyway through March.

The coastal Mediterranean climate sets the stage and creates the perfect backdrop for bird watching, no matter where you roam: the Morro Bay State Park boardwalk, bustling Embarcadero, iconic Morro Rock, or up close and personal from kayaks, paddleboards and boat tours. No preregistration or registration fee is required to participate in the family day events which take place on Saturday January 19th at the Museum of Natural History. Programs include arts & craft, educational talks, hikes, kayak and canoe rides, and up-close encounters with birds, reptiles, and insects. Children participating in Family Day will also be given a gift from the Morro Coast Audubon Society. Programing runs from 9:30 am-3 pm.

ߦ Mind Walks Series: Peregrine Falcons

Biologist Steve Schubert chronicles the efforts of nest site attendants and endangered species management techniques, captive breeding, double clutching, captive hatching of thin, fragile wild eggs, and the fostering of falcon chicks into the wild nests that have assisted in the recovery of a once-imperiled species. Author of the book The Peregrine Falcons of Morro Rock: A 50-year History, he is past president of Morro Coast Audubon Society. In its 25th year, the Mind Walk Series offers lecture on topics of interest to residents of the Central Coast, including cultural history, natural history, and current issues every Monday, January-March.

Via Juxtapoz: Take a step inside the world of 23 year old musician, Welles in the psychedelic video for his track, “Rock N Roll”. A song that in Jesse Wells’ words is “a tune in the style, in reverence to, and for the sake of rock n’ roll.”

Having just released his debut record, “Red Trees and White Trashes,” with his unique and jarringly emotive vocal stylings that might sound something along the lines of Kurt Cobain collaborating with Zeppelin, Welles is continuing where the rock greats before him left off.

It comes as no surprise then, that the video for “Rock N Roll” is a nostalgic, animated trip. Created by Diego Huacuja from Basa Estudio out of Mexico City, the visual artist wanted to “visually communicate the personality and vibe of the song,” noting how there’s a “heavy rock and roll tone mixed with a certain indifference and absurdness within the lyrics that I was really drawn to.”

Huacuja continues – “All of the elements and characters represent the lyrics at that moment of the song as well as how I think Jesse would imagine and draw those lyrics. Like the “square” parents. We all know parents are (sometimes) square. The fictional character of Jesse just wants to be free, hang out everywhere, and enjoy the moment.”

“The same happens with the style of illustration. We decided to represent that freedom in the strokes, shapes, colors and adding a fanzine texture which I personally love and think really fits great with the whole video. The artwork has no rules, no walls or floors, we just wanted to create a rad animation video for this cool song.”

Wells is already writing hooks that any of his heroes would envy… The sound on this album is huge, putting Welles in the same league as the smart bands reviving rock’s mainstream… “Red Trees and White Trashes” has the heft and complexity to likely earn a few Grammy nominations.” – NPR

Brian Taborda x Artwork

My name is Brian Taborda. I am a 24-year-old with an affinity for putting pen to paper and creating magic. Ever since I was a child I’ve always found myself drawn to drawing. As the years went by, I narrowed my artistic focus and began honing my skills as a cartoonist. Growing up, I always admired the artwork when I would watch my favorite cartoons on T.V. I chose to pursue this style because I was attracted to the freedom that this genre of art offered. Cartoons tend to be funny and ironic. Cartoons are one of the oldest forms of animated entertainment and, despite technological advancement, cartoons have maintained the classic and simplistic design elements that have set the style apart from other forms of artistic expression. These last few years, the political and economical climate in my home country of Venezuela has worsened tremendously. The present situation has motivated me to further develop my illustration skills. I know that if I improve, I will be able to achieve whatever I set my mind to. Choosing to focus on my art means working for commission so that I can earn enough money to escape this socialist dictatorship in Venezuela. I’ve been able to work towards fulfilling my dreams because of the the support that I receive from my family, my girlfriend and my friends. I specialize a style of cartoon illustration that was popular in the 1930’s, however, I like to add a bit of an “underground” or “urban” vibe to the final products. I work primarily using Adobe Illustrator. I typically use the brush and pen tools and draw with the mouse. I hope to one day illustrate using more modern tools but, since the economy of my country is so bad, I can’t afford the proper equipment so I have to use what I have. Fans of my art can look forward to seeing my name agin in the future future as I hope to, one day, release my own clothing line, with stickers, skateboards, etc. that will have my illustrations on them. Of course, I would keep on doing commissions of my drawing for clients who ware interested. My goal is to get more people to start loving and appreciating cartoons, especially the older ones that were the pioneers of this timeless genre. They are the base of everything we have now animation wise.

BIOS: 

OLAN ROGERS

Olan Rogers aka The Tennessee Wonder Child is a consummate creator best known for his digital content massing over 900k subscribers and soon-to-debut series on TBS, Final Space. Final Space began as a fan-favorite short film which Rogers wrote, directed, voice acted and produced. It was released on his channel in 2016, and quickly sparked a multi-network bidding war, ultimately selling with a series commitment to TBS. Premiering in 2018, Final Space is produced by Conan O’Brien’s Conaco and New Form, with Rogers continuing to serve as Creator and Executive Producer.

In addition to his entertainment career, Rogers founded and owns The Soda Parlor and a clothing brand Star Cadet in Nashville, Tennessee. Rogers continues to work tirelessly on projects as diverse as special-effects-laden web originals and original animations, a recent sold out stand-up tour of the US, and a science fiction novel. He is based in Los Angeles, California for the present moment.

 

MATT HOKLOTUBBE

As director of development at New Form, Matt Hoklotubbe helps lead all development for New Form’s premium content from inception to delivery. He is an Executive Producer on TBS’s Final Space, which he developed with creator Olan Rogers.

Since joining New Form, Matt oversaw the writing and casting for the romantic comedy “Single By 30,” now on Youtube Red. During his time here he has supervised seven short form series for various digital platforms, including Streamy winning dramas “I Ship It” for CW and “Cold” for Verizon Go90.

Prior to his position at New Form, Matt worked for Ed Helms developing TV and Film at Pacific Electric Picture Company. Before that, he spent four years working in the development department at Imagine Entertainment serving as story editor.

Matt was born and raised in Southern California and attended UCSB for Film Studies where he specialized in screenwriting and film theory.
 

MIKE ROBERTS

JUNO award winning Director Mike Roberts is the Supervising Director of TBS’s Final Space. He’s best known for his work directing episodes of Netflix’s hit animated series, ‘Bojack Horseman’ (starring Will Arnett and Aaron Paul), for which he also created the title sequence. He has directed episodes of ‘F is For Family’ (starring Bill Burr), as well as over 28 episodes of Comedy Central’s ‘Triptank’. He graduated with honors from Canada’s Sheridan College, and moved quickly from jr. animator, to storyboard artist, to director, necessitating his move to Hollywood to pursue his boyhood dream of someday directing a live action version of Knight Rider. In addition to his many TV credits, he’s directed spots for Honda, Burger King, and ABC television, as well as music videos for The Sadies and The Pack AD. He recently sold his series, ‘Dallas and Robo’, starring John Cena and Kat Dennings, to Youtube Red. Mike is repped by Kailey Marsh Media and Verve.

 
COTY GALLOWAY

Coty Galloway is an Actor that lives in West Hollywood, CA. He began his acting career in the realm of Youtube. He has starred in multiple videos for the platform on various channels where those videos have accumulated around 15 millions viewers.
