GRAMMY®, BRIT, Golden Globe, and Oscar-winning artist and songwriter Sam Smith announces, “To Be Free: San Francisco,” an eight-night residency at the Castro Theatre, a designated landmark in the heart of the city’s LGTBQ+ cultural epicenter. Kicking off February 10, 2026, Sam’s rare, up-close performances will officially ring in the venue’s eagerly awaited reopening following two years of renovations. To mark the announcement, Sam has shared a soul-stirring cover of the 1971 Bill Withers classic “Ain’t No Sunshine” set to a video filmed at the beloved theater and in the surrounding Castro District. The series is a continuation of Sam’s upcoming residency “To Be Free: New York City,” which begins on October 8 at Brooklyn’s historic Warsaw club. With the New York City residency kicking off next week, Sam is appearing tonight on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for a sit-down interview. They’ll also return to the show tomorrow night, Wednesday, October 1, as the featured musical guest. The initial run of 12 shows for “To Be Free: New York City” sold out immediately, prompting Sam to add 12 additional dates at the intimate venue stretching into November and December. 

Sam’s cover of “Ain’t No Sunshine” is both stunningly beautiful and rich with meaning. Over raw acoustic guitar, they begin the song: “Ain’t no sunshine when he’s gone / It’s not warm when he’s away.” With their unmistakable voice, Sam gives a haunting performance that captures the chill of loneliness, while the accompanying video brings immense warmth. We first see Sam inside of the Castro Theatre, scaffolding still in place. Soon, we’re out on the streets of the Castro District, meeting friendly faces from the community. By the end, Sam has led a small celebratory parade of folks to the iconic theater marquee, and stepped into the box office to tear tickets themself.

Both residencies take their name from Sam’s soaring new single, “To Be Free.” The soulful acoustic song, which explores how vulnerability can unlock bravery and freedom, includes moving vocals by The TwoCity Chorus and came with a joyous, (LA)HORDE-directed music video filmed at Warsaw — watch HERE. The song has since earned critical praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone (“Sam Smith feels light as a feather”), Billboard (“one of their most striking songs in years”), and Stereogum (“heartstring-pulling … immensely powerful”), among others. 

Sam recently shared their thoughts on the song, which was produced by Sam and Simon Aldred: “I’ve never had a recording experience like I did making this song. It’s one vocal-and-guitar take from start to finish — one live performance of me and my friend Simon in a pure state of music and expression. I wrote it five years ago while writing my last album, Gloria, and then parked it because I knew it was not a song for that album. It was created during a time in my life where I became free within myself. Over the last five years, Simon and I started to create music that fit into this world of ‘To Be Free’ and during this time, I’ve continued to turn to this song in happy moments, sad moments, lonely moments, and angry moments. It’s become my sister, my family member, and it ultimately calms me. Hopefully, it can do the same for someone else.”

Another Planet Entertainment’s The Castro will be a fittingly timeless home for the West Coast installment of the To Be Free series. Built as a movie palace in 1922 with an interior designed by one of San Francisco’s most prominent architects, Timothy Pfleuger, the captivating space swirls up an array of worldly influences and includes stunning original artwork on the ceilings, famous sgraffito murals along the walls, and an ornate chandelier, among other features. All of that has been restored as part of a $40 million rehabilitation project that’s also opened the venue up for standing-room music performances and facilitated the installation of “the world’s largest and most versatile digital organ.”

The NFL and YouTube announced a star-studded roster for “NFL’s Flag Football Game on YouTube: London Edition,” marking the debut of the Creator Flag Football series in the UK as part of the NFL International Games.  

Building on the success of the inaugural Super Bowl LIX Flag Football Game on YouTube, the league is bringing the excitement overseas with a flag football showdown at the Copper Box Arena on Saturday, October 11, ahead of the New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, October 12. Showcasing the NFL’s commitment to growing flag football globally and connecting with fans worldwide, the flag football game brings together top talent from across sports, music and YouTube, including music stars Aitch and Gunna who will serve as captains. The action kicks off at 7:00 p.m. BST and will stream live exclusively on YouTube.

“Ochocinco” Johnson join as wide receiver, and feature a roster of YouTube Creators Deestroying, Khaby Lame, Speedy Morman, Jamie Laing, Sam Thompson, and Nella Rose, alongside additional surprise guests. NFL Legend Ryan Fitzpatrick will take the field for Team Aitch, joined by an exciting lineup including Adam W, U.S. flag football player Ashlea Klam, Tommy Fury, SV2, Jay Cinco, Mabel, and European women’s flag football champion Phoebe Schecter.

Kay Adams will kick off the night with a live pregame show, streaming exclusively on YouTube starting at 7:00 p.m. BST. She’ll take fans behind the scenes with players, from stylish arrivals to locker room moments, giving an insider’s look before kickoff. Joining Adams will be NFL Legend Maurice Jones-Drew with key pregame insights and special guest English Footballer Dominic Solanke. During the game, NFL icon Andrew Hawkins will deliver play-by-play highlights, while British TV host and radio DJ Maya Jama and YouTube creator Duke Dennis provide insights throughout the action.

The first scooter making use of the Verge Next technology platform will be displayed in Milan at the EICMA trade fair in November.

Technology company and electric motorbike manufacturer Verge Motorcycles’ B2B unit Verge Next seeks to further the electrification of traffic and to assist the manufacturers of two-wheelers to create better and more innovative products. Licences for Verge’s seamless technology platform featuring ground-breaking technical solutions are now available worldwide. This is a combination of components and software on top of which a powerful electric moped or scooter can be built much faster and more cost-efficiently than what is currently possible.

“The Verge Next technology platform is the answer to the wishes of industry operators, but it is also a significant opportunity to move towards lower-emission mobility. We launched our Verge Next unit last spring, and we have already received dozens of contacts from businesses interested in using the devices and technology that we have developed. Indeed, partnerships have already been established with some operators, and some of our customers are telling us that they will incorporate our solutions into their upcoming models in the near future”, says Verge Motorcycles CEO and Verge Next unit lead Tuomo Lehtimäki.

Either a complete platform solution or individual components

The primary component of the Verge Next technology platform is the donut motor integrated into the wheel, which has garnered enormous interest among electric vehicle manufacturers and is now available for even smaller two-wheelers. 12-inch motors are available at various power ratings all the way from 2 kilowatts to 15 kilowatts, depending on the vehicle type. The maximum torque generated by the 12-inch donut motor varies between 80 and 350 newton-metres, depending on power. In addition to the motor, the platform includes a battery module for small vehicles developed by Verge, a software suite for controlling the system, and multi-functional, clear display screens.

Because all the components of the Verge Next technology platform are integrated for seamless interoperability, they form the perfect package. However, Verge Next components also work excellently as standalone components, and a manufacturer can easily incorporate a donut motor into a scooter built using traditional mechanisms.

The first scooter built on the Verge Next technology platform can be viewed at the EICMA motorcycle trade fair in Milan on the 4th to 9th of November. The Verge exhibit is in hall number 9, stand M80.

At the Monaco Yacht Show, Automobili Lamborghini and The Italian Sea Group presented the worldwide premiere of the new Tecnomar for Lamborghini 101FT. The collaboration between the two companies began in 2020 with the launch of the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63, which paid tribute to the year the House of Sant’Agata was founded and was a huge success among enthusiasts.

The new 101FT, named for its length of about 30 meters, embodies the synthesis between two companies that are worthy of representing Made in Italy excellence on the global level. Distinguished by high technological and design value, the project was conceived with the aim of creating an unrepeatable experience for those who drive the motoryacht, just as it is for Lamborghini customers. The model stems from the synergy between the two brands, combining the technical and engineering excellence of The Italian Sea Group with the distinctive aesthetics and innovation typical of Lamborghini’s super sports cars.

In fact, luxury, design, and innovation are the keywords that define this prestigious yacht that exalts the excellence of Italian industry. The Tecnomar for Lamborghini 101FT features some of the most appreciated iconic elements of Lamborghini design and lines. Starting from the exteriors, inspired by the new few-off Fenomeno1 – produced in a limited edition of just 29 cars – presented in a worldwide premiere in August at Monterey Car Week. In addition to the color – the Giallo Crius used for the launch livery –, other elements inspired by the Fenomeno include the front and rear lights, which take a cue from those used on the car from Sant’Agata Bolognese. But it is the whole of the exterior lines that possess the unmistakable, iconic and essential hallmark of the brand, where every detail combines the maximum functionality with the utmost aesthetic purity.

The yacht’s helm station also clearly draws inspiration from the cars of Sant’Agata Bolognese, particularly the Temerario2, Lamborghini’s “fuoriclasse” hybrid V8 HPEV. This means that being at the helm of the 101FT gives the same feeling as being behind the wheel of a Lamborghini super sports car.

The interiors have an affinity with those of the models of the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese in terms of colors, stitching, and forms. In fact, the iconic Lamborghini elements onboard include hexagons, clean lines,

Mitja Borkert, Design Director of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked: “With the new Tecnomar for Lamborghini 101FT motoryacht, we aimed to create a product that embodies the main design characteristics of our super sports cars. All the details, from the exterior to the color, to the interior areas, recall and are inspired by Lamborghini’s DNA. Our Centro Stile, in operation for twenty years at Lamborghini’s historical headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, worked with the utmost care to ensure that every element was studied in meticulous detail and reflected the brand’s unmistakable style.”

From the technical perspective, the 101FT is equipped with three powerful MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, combined with three surface propellers, which make it possible to reach a top speed of 45 knots and a cruising speed of 35 knots. These performance figures are supported by a total output of 7.600 horsepower and two 35 kW generators, ensuring efficiency and reliability in every condition.

The Tecnomar for Lamborghini 101FT was presented in a scale version in an exclusive premiere during the press conference at the Monaco Yacht Show, the most prestigious showcase of the international nautical panorama. The definitive model will set sail at the end of the 2027.

CxM (SEVENTEEN), comprising members S.COUPS and MINGYU, unveiled the highlight medley for their 1st Mini Album HYPE VIBES today, providing a glimpse into genre-spanning 6 tracks ahead of its arrival on September 29.

Opening true to form, the highlight medley kicks off with a hip-hop track “Fiesta”—blending an additive flute melody and kitschy talk box—that sets the tone in the unit’s own rhythm with their confident and cool demeanor. The clip takes a more uplifting turn with the lead single “5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman) (feat. Lay Bankz),” a disco-infused track that creatively interpolates Roy Orbison’s timeless hit “Oh, Pretty Woman,” capturing the raw emotions and thrill of a romantic encounter through candid, straightforward delivery. The iconic duo also dropped two concept photo sets—BUDDY and COMBI—in the lead-up to the medley, each capturing distinct daytime and nighttime vibes. Shot in Hawaii, the photos showcase a relaxed, natural side of the duo, evoking the free spirit of a summer vacation and highlighting their genuine, relatable appeal. Shortly after, the tracklist followed, revealing the titles and credits for all tracks featured on the mini-album.

What stands out is that S.COUPS and MINGYU are credited with songwriting and composing on all 6 tracks, reaffirming their reputation as creative powerhouses. JENSCHKE ORCHARDS IS ONE OF 36 FARMS ACROSS NORTH AMERICA PAYING TRIBUTE TO LAINEY WILSON WITH CORN MAZE HONORING THE COUNTRY MUSIC SUPERSTAR 

In celebration of her current CMA (Country Music Association) honor of Entertainer of the year, Jenschke Orchards is preparing to open a corn maze paying tribute to country music icon Lainey Wilson, one of many popping up this fall that will collectively draw up to a million visitors. The 5-acre maze is scheduled to open for its 10th season on September 19th. 

Jenschke Orchards is one of 36 farms across the U.S. and Canada inviting guests to “Get Lost with Lainey” in their corn maze this year. Continuing a tradition that began in 2023 to honor some of country music’s brightest stars through a nationwide Country Music Corn Maze campaign, previous honorees included Reba McEntire in 2023 and Luke Bryan in 2024. “Growing up on a fifth-generation farm in Louisiana, my country roots run deep, and I’m honored to be a part of something that brings more people out to farms to create memories and experience a little bit of what I grew up with,” said Wilson. “I was blessed to be raised playing in the dirt, riding in the tractor, and helping my deddy grow corn. I could never have imagined I’d be carved into a corn maze one day myself! 

While navigating the mazes, guests will look for clues and play an interactive game, quizzing them on how much they know about Lainey. Participants will also encounter life-sized photo opportunities, listen to some of Lainey’s favorite hits, and hear recorded audio messages along the way. Farm visitors can also enter to win a grand prize trip to see Lainey perform at The National Finals Rodeo on December 7th, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada. One lucky winner will receive a trip for two, including a two-night hotel stay, airfare voucher, a meet-and-greet experience with Lainey, and tickets to the show. 

Additionally, one lucky winner from each farm will receive an autographed copy of Lainey’s Whirlwind Deluxe album. Officially released on August 22, the deluxe album is a celebration of the one-year anniversary of her hit record Whirlwind and includes five new songs, including her new current rising smash Somewhere Over Laredo
