CORNELLIAN TURNED COMEDIAN

Breakout Comedian and TikTok Star Tyler Regan‘s one man skits have amassed over half a billion views

Tyler Regan‘s one-man-show of comedic brilliance coupled with naturalistic writing skills has amassed him a sort of cult-like following with 1.4 million TikTok followers and over 2 million followers across all his social media platforms. His comedy-centric content now has over half a billion cumulative views with topics ranging from office etiquette to Karens.

Although the Cornell University alum has been creating videos since 2017, he’s best known for his solid mix of commentary on politics and current events and clever representation of awkward everyday life experiences. “Finding your voice is a journey,” Tyler says, “… And it wasn’t until the pandemic forced my content to become a one-man show that I truly found mine.”

Having grown up on a steady diet of Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Monty Python and Robin Williams, Tyler fell into the comedy profession by accident, quite literally. The realism in his subject matter and deadpan delivery was honed, in part by the misfortune of a college soccer sports injury. He understood how to identify and distill the humorous elements of everyday life to tell relevant stories because, as Robin Williams says, “Comedy can be a cathartic way to deal with personal trauma.”

The Philly native is currently filming social media content from a vintage 1976 Airstream while on a cross country trip with his girlfriend but when he returns to Los Angeles, he will continue to parlay his online fame into off-line opportunities that encompass collaborative creative writing for film/tv, as well as other multimedia projects.

Pursuing his comedy dreams in the face of despair, Tyler has the potential to occupy a place in America’s cultural heart.

ABOUT TYLER REGAN

For Tyler Regan, a career in comedy was not on his radar. He spent his adolescent and young adult years in Philadelphia tirelessly preparing to become a professional soccer player. However, at the dawn of his childhood vision becoming a reality, he suffered a devastating ankle injury that forced him into premature retirement.

In 2015, Tyler pursued a master’s degree in engineering from Drexel University and settled into an assistant project manager position. Tyler’s then girlfriend was a content creator who encouraged him to craft and post comical videos to his social media platform. He looked at the opportunity as an outlet to escape the boredom of his 9-to-5 and be his authentically weird self. It wasn’t long before his brand of humor attracted an audience and took on a life of its own, which prompted a move to Los Angeles in 2017 but imposter syndrome set in. While he always had an interest in the film/tv industry, even enrolling in film classes that lead to him composing an original screenplay he submitted to a film festival in his early teens and graduating from Cornell with a BA in media studies.

Once in Hollywood, Tyler continued to put in work by posting daily videos of witty skits alongside actors to his YouTube channel. His dedication and consistency boosted his popularity and kept his subscribers eagerly tuned in for 2 years but he still hadn’t found his niche. And then the pandemic hit. The digital entertainer used the lockdown to pivot to TikTok and build the kind of content he wanted to make with the confidence that his tribe would gravitate towards him.

Sebastián Yatra releases new music via 360 MAGAZINE

Matteo Bocelli × Sebastián Yatra

Italian singer-songwriter Matteo Bocelli and Colombian singer-songwriter Sebastián Yatra released a romantic new single as a three-track EP with renditions of the song in English (“Until She’s Gone”), Spanish (“Tu Luz Quedó”) and Italian (“Un Attimo di Te”). The tender ballad conveying regrets and hope for reconciliation, performed remarkably by the acclaimed vocalists, who are accompanied by poignant piano and soaring strings, is complemented with a stunning music video shot in the Mediterranean island of Malta. All three versions of the song were produced by Mauricio Rengifo and Andrés Torres, who have helmed such multi-Platinum hits as Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito.” Matteo Bocelli wrote the track with Jez Ashurst and Emma Rohan (Little Mix, Susan Boyle). Yatra collaborated with Matteo on the Spanish lyrics.

Listen HERE.

Matteo Bocelli says, “‘Until She’s Gone’ is an incredible romantic ballad that I had the pleasure of singing with my friend Sebastián Yatra. I met him two years ago and we immediately connected on a musical and personal level. I am so honored to sing this song with him in Spanish, English and Italian. It is truly an international project.”

Sebastián Yatra added, “Matteo is a terrific artist and I am deeply excited about singing such a beautiful song with him and about having the opportunity of doing so in Spanish, English and also Italian. I’ve always been inspired by the Italian language and their music, starting from Matteo’s father Andrea Bocelli. Matteo and I had a spectacular time in Malta shooting the video and hopefully we will get to sing this song live many times.”

Bocelli and Yatra perform the three versions outdoors, directed by Italian filmmaker Cosimo Alemà. The video for “Tu Luz Quedó,” which was released today, can be viewed HERE. Watch for the YouTube Premiere of the official video for “Until She’s Gone” on Monday, April 11, and for the “Un Attimo di Te” official video soon after.

The three videos were shot in the unique setting of the Island of Malta, thanks to Visit Malta, Ministry of Tourism and Consumer Protection, Malta Tourism Authority, the Mediterranean Tourism Foundation and Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA).

Yatra recently stunned at the 94th annual Academy Awards performing a beautiful rendition of the RIAA certified Gold “Dos Oruguitas” from The Walt Disney animated film “ENCANTO” which was nominated this year for an Oscar and a Golden Globe. The multi-platinum singer-songwriter also recently released a powerful bilingual celebration of his single “Tacones Rojos” which reached #1 on Latin Radio in the US, from his multi-platinum new album “Dharma,” which is the #1 streamed Latin album released this year on Spotify. The genre-bending 17-track third studio album’ features his 8x platinum hit “Pareja del Año,” 4x platinum smash “Chica Ideal,” and the Latin GRAMMYs nominated ballad “Adios,” and boasts 5.4 Billion combined streams. While Yatra has released bilingual collaborations in the past, “Un Attimo di Te” is his first recording in Italian. Currently nominated for five Latin American Music Awards, and starring in Netflix’s “Érase Una Vez Pero Ya No,” he will resume his 2022 ‘Dharma World Tour’ later this month with a series of dates in Mexico, followed by the US and Canada.

Earlier this year, Matteo Bocelli made his Spanish language recording debut with “Dime,” which he also recorded in Italian (“Dimmi”). He recently joined his father, opera legend Andrea Bocelli, on a sold out U.S. arena tour, which included two shows at Madison Square Garden shows in New York City and the Hollywood Bowl. Matteo Bocelli, who is graduating at the Conservatory of Lucca in Tuscany, began learning piano at age six. At 18, he made his stage debut, singing Verdi at the Rome Colosseum. Much of the world first heard Matteo’s mellifluous vocals and textured piano playing on 2018’s “Fall on Me,” the English/Italian duet he co-wrote for Andrea Bocelli’s chart-topping Sì album. The song, which went on to soundtrack Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, has attained over 300 million combined global streams. Matteo released his fittingly titled debut single “Solo” in 2021. Combined global streams of the song have surpassed seven million and views of the official video now exceed five million. He performed the follow-up single, “Close,” on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in January 2022.

94th Oscars

The 94th Academy Awards were held on Sunday, May 27, at the Dolby Theatre right in the heart of Hollywood. The Oscars ceremony made for a night of unforgettable moments, including the slap that broke the internet.

The night began with words from Serena and Venus Williams before Beyonce’s performance of “Be Alive” from Best Picture nominee “King Richard.” The film stars Will Smith while following the story of the tennis sister icons childhood and rise to widespread athletic acclaim.

To reference the story even further, Beyonce’s pre-recorded performance took place at the former Lueders Park tennis courts in Compton. Sporting lime-green tennis-inspired attire, Beyonce and her dancers captivated the audience and started the show off flawlessly.

This year’s Academy Awards saw the return of a host for the first time since the 2018 showing, and three at that. Amy Schumer, Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes shared banter on the stage and separately throughout, successfully beginning with a bit directed towards Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Further controversy surrounding the night stemmed from the pre-recorded award announcement of eight categories and the New York Times stated this included the short films, production design, score, editing, makeup and hairstyling and sound. Conducted to seemingly shorten the duration of the show, this didn’t help much, as the show ended up extending to a long three hours and 40 minutes of showtime. Not to mention the pre-announced awards were aired as if they were live.

Amidst the contentious night of awards, we saw light as Ariana Debose became the first Afro Latina and openly queer women of color to win an Academy Award. While starring as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story,” we also saw DeBose become the second Latina to win an Academy Award following Rita Moreno for the same role dating back to 1962.

DeBose commended the trailblazing of Moreno during her acceptance speech while saying, “Now you see why that Anita says ‘I want to be in America,’ because even in this weary world that we live in, dreams do come true, […] I’m so grateful your Anita paved the way for tons of Anitas like me and I love you so much.”

DeBose rejoiced this moment in history, stating, “To anybody who has ever questioned your identity — ever, ever, ever — or you find yourself living in the gray spaces, I promise you this: There is indeed a place for us.”

The most shocking night of the event that has had the entire world talking came when Will Smith punched Chris Rock on-stage after an insensitive comment about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.

While presenting the Best Documentary award, Rock joked about Pinkett Smith, stating, “Jada, I love you. ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it,” speaking about her shaved hair.

Back in 2018, Pinkett Smith revealed to the world that she had alopecia, which causes hair loss. It appeared Smith was laughing along at first, but then he got up and slapped Rock. After returning to his seat the audio cut out in the United States but was broadcasted internationally where audiences heard Smith then yell, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f****** mouth!”

The conflict left the in-person audience stunned, and Rock reacted by saying, “Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me.”

Later on, Smith was awarded for his performance in “Little Richard” with the Best Actor award. He apologized for the altercation during his acceptance speech while referencing his role as the Williams sisters’ father in the film while stating, “Richard Williams was a fierce defender of his family. In this time in my life, in this moment, I am overwhelmed by what God is calling on me to do and be in this world. […] I’m being called on in my life to love people. And to protect people. And to be a river to my people.”

He continued by thanking his fellow nominee Denzel Washington who came to his side after the dispute occurred, recalling his words when stating, “He said [to me], ‘At your highest moment, that’s when the devil comes for you.’”

Smith continued to apologize and stated, “I want to apologize to the Academy, I want to apologize to my fellow nominees, […] This is a beautiful moment. I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine a light on all the people. […] I hope the Academy invites me back.”

The night commenced when “CODA” historically won Best Picture. The film celebrates both Deaf culture and actors while becoming the first movie from a streaming service to be awarded an Academy Award.

Apple TV+’s “CODA” triumphed over Netflix’s “The Power of the Dog” for the esteemed award, though we still saw Netflix’s Jane Campion take home the Best Director award for the film. “CODA,” too, saw their very own Troy Kostur take home Best Supporting Actor as Frank Rossi and director Sian Heder win Best Adapted Screenplay.
