Jeff Langlois

It took a one-way road trip for Jeff Langlois to cultivate a passion for photography. The adventure to LA brought forth stunning deserts and mountainous peaks, as he drove from Minneapolis through the Rockies – in a 2002 Honda Civic; eager to jumpstart a career at a commercial house called The Mill. The best way to balance out the fast-paced, unpredictable, and ever-changing environment that is advertising, was to break away and see what the west coast really looks like. Traveling solo allowed him to arrive in beautiful destinations and wait for these locations to unveil their scenic characteristics. Jeff notes that the best shots always come unexpectedly. Now while still mainly shooting the outdoors, he plans just enough to get him out and moving around, but his best and most memorable shots come unexpectedly. It’s about showing up and being patient and receptive to what’s going on.

RENÉE ZELLWEGER & SAM SMITH IS OUT

Today, Republic & Decca Records release the brand-new single “Get Happy”, featuring original vocals by Renée Zellweger and Sam Smith, from the forthcoming JUDY The Original Soundtrack out September 27. Listen HERE.

Says Sam Smith, “When I was 17 years old, I did a project on Judy Garland for my Film Studies A-Level. I was immediately immersed into the magic of Judy and her incredibly brave and triumphant story. She has remained as one of the icons of my life. She was one of the bravest humans out there and her vulnerability and honesty in her art still gives me goose bumps like it did the first time.

It was truly an honour to sing with Renée. Nobody could have played Judy as well as Renée, and it is a career highlight for me to be singing with her, and in some small way, with Judy. I hope everyone loves the film as much as I did.”

The track coincides with the release of the highly-anticipated feature film in which Zellweger stars as Judy Garland, set for U.S. release on September 27.

JUDY the album features Zellweger’s breath-taking recordings of Judy Garland’s award-winning and most popular numbers, which have become some of the most iconic songs in film and theatre history, including “For Once in My Life”, “Come Rain or Come Shine” and “Over the Rainbow”, all perfectly capturing the moving intensity of Garland’s electrifying performances.

Set for global release on September 27, JUDY the album marks 50 years since Judy Garland’s premature death in 1969, and 80 years since she shot to teenage stardom in The Wizard of Oz in 1939.

JUDY is a Pathé, BBC Films and Ingenious Media Presentation of a Calamity Films Production and is set for a U.S. nationwide theatrical release on September 27.

Lufthansa Crew Fly to the US in Traditional Folk Dress

Just in time for the Oktoberfest in Munich, Lufthansa’s Trachten- crew is getting ready for takeoff. This year, the world’s largest crew in folk costume will take off in Lufthansa’s flagship Airbus A380 for the first time. A total of 21 Lufthansa flight attendants will be trading their uniforms for traditional Bavarian garb. The first Lufthansa ‘Trachten’ flight will take off from Munich on 23 September and head to Beijing while the flight on 3 October will be from Munich to Los Angeles. In addition to this, crews on a selection of European routes will also be taking off in traditional costume.

Lufthansa employees in traditional Bavarian clothing

The traditional costumes worn by Lufthansa’s long-haul crew were designed and tailored by Angermaier, a Munich-based specialist for traditional Bavarian clothing. The dirndls of the female flight attendants are dark blue with silver-gray aprons, while the men will be wearing short lederhosen with dark blue vests made of the same material as the dirndls. As in previous years, Lufthansa passengers can also experience the ‘Trachten’ flights on a selection of European routes from Munich. In September and October, a Lufthansa CityLine crew will be exchanging their uniforms for dirndls. Their flight destinations are Amsterdam, Lyon, Gdansk, Milan, Sofia, Brussels, Ancona, Belgrade, Warsaw, Cologne and Münster.

For Lufthansa’s passenger support staff in Munich’s Terminal 2, it has been a tradition for years now to welcome passengers in traditional costume during the Oktoberfest. In addition to the Lufthansa uniform, ladies may also wear dirndls and the gentlemen may wear traditional Trachten suits.

Oktoberfest in the Lufthansa lounges

Munich’s Lufthansa lounges are also prepared for the Oktoberfest. In the twelve lounges in Terminal 2 and the satellite building, over 4,000 kilograms of Leberkäs’ will be served, along with over 38,000 pretzels and approximately 750 kilograms of Weißwurst sausages. This year’s Oktoberfest menu in the festively decorated Lufthansa First Class lounges will start with Festtagssuppe, a traditional soup, followed by farmers’ duck and closing with homemade apple strudel served with vanilla sauce, roasted almonds and rum-soaked raisins. In the Senator and Business lounges, passengers will enjoy typical Bavarian dishes such as Leberkäs’, Fleischpflanzerl meatballs and quark mousse with plum topping.

10 Great Ideas for Family Fun this Fall!

Fall is such a great time of year to enjoy the outdoors—and embrace the indoors! Whether your family likes to get up a game of football before a snooze and a snack, or if you’re more about baking and decorating, crafting and movies, there’s something for everyone to enjoy when the first chill of fall comes around.

Like what?

Visit a pumpkin patch or apple orchard  — nothing says fall like picking out your seasonal gourds for decorating the house inside and out. Don’t forget to save the seeds to roast in the oven: they make a yummy snack! Fresh apples—and pies that you can make with them—are worth the trip to the orchard to pick them yourselves. Maybe you can swing in a hayride while you’re out there!
Jump into a pile of leaves  — there’s nothing better than the crunch and crackle of a great big pile of leaves that someone else just raked up! Then everyone can help rake them up again for another round of jumping good fun!

Set up a bonfire and s’mores  — with the cool evenings, there’s nothing better than getting dressed in the warm and fuzzies, setting up a bonfire and roasting marshmallows for s’mores. Tell campfire stories with a spooky theme: the creepy factor is so much better with the crackle of flames and the darkness beyond. When everyone’s tired of the great outdoors, you can move the party inside and watch a scary movie!

Get lost in a corn maze  — this is seriously good fun for the whole family! Set up a prize for the one who gets out first! And don’t forget to pick up some corn to either boil or roast at home, for a taste of the season with your dinner.

Check out a local fall festival  — farm visits and fall festivals abound, with livestock competitions, petting zoos, rides, games and candy floss. Who wouldn’t be up for that?

Take a leaf peeping hike  — what’s better than a trip to the countryside to see all the changing leaves? Whether a state park, or just your local hiking trails, going out and collecting some fine leaf specimens, pine cones and more can help when you want to decorate your house a little with all the finery that fall has to offer. Imagine your Thanksgiving centerpiece decorated with pine cones dipped in gold paint, beautiful leaves and a garland or two of pine bough!

Build a scarecrow  — if decorating your house is your thing, whether for Hallowe’en or just for fall, the best addition, particularly if you have a porch, is to build an epic scarecrow and put him outside to greet visitors! Whether you make him spooky or just cute in overalls and a hat, it’s a fun way to spend the day.

Make candy apples  — nothing says fall like apples coated with candy or caramel. They even smell like autumn! And at least the kids are getting some fruit in them, right? If candy apples aren’t your thing, any kind of fall baking, with the fragrance of pumpkin spice, allspice, clove and cinnamon in the air, is a good way to spend an afternoon.

Set up a playground playdate picnic  — with snow around the corner, getting in one last playground visit with friends and family is a great way to celebrate the season. Turn it into a cool weather fall celebration picnic with cocoa, an old fashioned apple bobbing contest and lots of yummy pumpkin spice flavored treats! Add a scavenger hunt or a rousing game of touch football for extra excitement and to make sure the sugar from all those treats gets used up!

Visit a haunted house  — professionally designed haunted houses are is best with the older kids, but you can get your ghoul on with the littles by turning your own front yard, porch or garage into a haunted house! Keep it going until Hallowe’en so that all your neighbors and friends can enjoy it too!

Whatever you choose, make some memories with your family and friends this fall. You’ll cherish them all winter long.

CHEF CHARLIE PALMER IS CULINARY ADVISORY AT WING & BARREL RANCH, SONOMA’S NEWEST WINE COUNTRY EXPERIENCE

James Beard Award-winning chef to create the ultimate taste of Sonoma
in conjunction with club’s extensive wine list and natural bounty

Set amid the beauty of Northern California’s Wine Country, Wing & Barrel Ranch — an exclusive members-only sporting club for the discerning outdoor and wine enthusiast — is excited to announce that James Beard Award-winning chef and restaurateur Charlie Palmer is leading its menu creation and concept as Culinary Advisor.

Chef Palmer brings his signature “Progressive American Cooking” to the Ranch’s rustic elegance. Owner of 13 acclaimed restaurants across the United States, Palmer has chosen Sonoma County as his home, designing a full-service menu for Wing & Barrel Ranch that emphasizes the fresh, seasonal foods that reflect the bounty of the land he knows so well.

Located on a superb parcel totaling nearly 1,000 acres, Wing & Barrel Ranch is hailed as “the best of the best” by the San Francisco Chronicle and “an outstanding club” by Cigar Aficionado. The Ranch is currently building a new clubhouse that will offer a luxurious dining experience to members and their guests. Similar to other private clubs in that memberships are non-equity, inheritable, and transferable, Wing & Barrel Ranch has just a few memberships remaining.

In addition to Chef Palmer’s outstanding dining program, Wing & Barrel Ranch amenities include seasonal bird hunting, year-round sporting clays, Vintner Member gatherings, customized shooting instruction, travel programs, dog training and boarding, and an exclusive cigar program. Paired with world-class wines from our Vintner Members, year-round member activities showcase the most exceptional culinary bounty and wines from this region.

“I’m delighted to pair my love of robust flavors and straightforward classic cooking with the outstanding outdoor experience that Wing & Barrel Ranch offers,” says Chef Palmer. “Growing up in rural New York, time spent outdoors was an integral part of my family’s life, including hunting and fishing. As an avid outdoorsman, I really appreciate how food and wine complement the pleasures of a good day spent in nature.”

Wing & Barrel Ranch co-founder and CEO Darius Anderson is delighted to welcome Chef Palmer. “I’m proud to be able to share this amazing land with a chef and restaurateur of Charlie’s stature and abilities,” Anderson says. “Adding his level of fine dining to the opportunity to shoot with renowned local Vintners makes for a magical mix for Wing & Barrel Ranch members.”

The new Clubhouse at Wing & Barrel Ranch is slated to open in the summer of 2020, serving as the heart of all member activities and as a gathering place for family and friends. Limited memberships remain and are expected to sell out quickly. For more information, please visitwingandbarrelranch.com/membership.

Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is celebrating the return of the radical Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100 – codenamed 103EX – to the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood – the latest stop on a world tour for the marque’s revolutionary electric motor car.

Launched in 2016, this highly innovative car includes a fully electric drive train, completely autonomous drive and enhanced artificial intelligence. Wholly connected and entirely autonomous, it presents the marque’s uncompromised view of the future of luxury mobility.

Following its official unveiling at London’s Roundhouse, the car was briefly displayed at Goodwood before embarking on a global odyssey that has included appearances at customer and media events across the world.

103EX arrived at the Home of Rolls-Royce in its own bespoke transporter, accompanied by the specialist Experimental Vehicle Team who have maintained and prepared the vehicle throughout its long travels. And while the car’s return has been greeted with appropriate fanfare by the Goodwood workforce, its short journey into the showroom area was, naturally, completely soundless.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: “We are delighted to welcome 103EX home to Goodwood. After almost four years on international duties, we felt it was time for the experimental model to return home. It is a chance for those who worked on the project to relive some great memories, and for people who have joined us more recently to discover one of the most important cars we have ever built.

“As our first fully autonomous electric vehicle, 103EX was a huge statement of intent. In its technical innovation, it showed unequivocally that Rolls-Royce regards electric power as the future of automotive propulsion. It also demonstrated our radical vision of effortless, autonomous, connected, spacious and beautiful luxury mobility, with each car as individual as the customer themselves.”
