About Sing 2

This holiday season, the new chapter in Illumination’s smash animated franchise arrives with big dreams and spectacular hit songs as the ever-optimistic Buster Moon and his all-star cast of performers prepare to launch their most dazzling stage extravaganza yet …all in the glittering entertainment capital of the world. There’s just one hitch: They first have to persuade the world’s most reclusive rock star—played by global music icon Bono, in his animated film debut—to join them.

Buster (Oscar® winner Matthew McConaughey) has turned the New Moon Theater into a local hit, but Buster has his eyes on a bigger prize: Debuting a new show at the Crystal Tower Theater in glamorous Redshore City.

But with no connections, Buster and his cast—including harried mother Rosita (Oscar® winner Reese Witherspoon), rocker Ash (Scarlett Johansson), earnest Johnny (Taron Egerton), shy Meena (Tori Kelly) and, of course, provocateur Gunter (Nick Kroll)—have to sneak their way into the world-famous Crystal Entertainment offices, run by ruthless mogul Jimmy Crystal (Emmy winner Bobby Cannavale).

In a desperate attempt to get Mr. Crystal’s attention, Gunter spontaneously pitches an outrageous idea that Buster quickly runs with, promising that their new show will star rock legend Clay Calloway (Bono). Problem is, Buster has never met Clay, an artist who shut himself away from the world more than a decade ago after the loss of his wife. Even worse, Buster has failed to realize that Mr. Crystal is an egocentric gangster who would rather drop somebody off the roof of a building than be lied to.

As Gunter helps Buster dream up an out-of-this-world theatrical masterpiece, and the pressure (and sinister threats) from Mr. Crystal mount, Rosita’s leading role in the show gets ripped away and handed to Mr. Crystal’s spoiled daughter, Porsha, played by Grammy-nominated artist Halsey. Desperate to save the show, and his life, Buster embarks on a quest to find Clay and persuade him to return to the stage.

What begins as a dream of big-time success becomes an emotional reminder of the power of music to heal even the most broken heart.

Sing 2 is written and directed by acclaimed returning filmmaker Garth Jennings and features additional new characters played by music superstar Pharrell Williams, Black Panther’s Letitia Wright and comedians Eric André and Chelsea Peretti. The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Janet Healy. Sing 2 combines dozens of hit songs from pop to rock, K-pop to Latin, and from artists including Billie Eilish, Drake, U2, The Weeknd, Prince, Taylor Swift, BTS, Cardi B, Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. With electrifying performances, breathtaking artistry and Illumination’s signature humor and heart, Sing 2 is sure to be the definitive feel-good cinematic event of the year.

Why You Need a Personal Injury Lawyer: Finding the One That Suits You Best

If you’re involved in an accident, you may be unable to work either temporarily or permanently in addition to coping with physical pain and emotional trauma.

However, you have the option of hiring a personal injury lawyer who can help you to claim compensation.

You could be awarded financial compensation for medical expenses, loss of current and future earnings, and property damage, as well as compensation for pain and suffering.

When financial expenses are taken care of, you can have peace of mind and focus on your physical and emotional recovery.

Why do you need a personal injury lawyer?

If you want to gain the compensation you’re entitled to after an accident, it’s best to hire a personal injury lawyer who has the knowledge and expertise needed to win your case. You can then be compensated for things like medical costs and loss of earnings.

A personal injury lawyer will provide you with expert advice, thoroughly investigate the accident to prove your case, handle numerous legal issues, and deal with your insurance company, to increase the chances of winning your claim.

How to Find a Personal Injury Lawyer That Suits You Best

To stand the best chance of gaining compensation, you need to hire an experienced and knowledgeable lawyer who is fully committed.

While it can be helpful to get recommendations from friends or family members, make sure you check out any lawyer you’re considering hiring before you proceed.

Read online reviews to see what other clients have to say. Then have an initial meeting with your potential lawyer to see if he or she is suitable.

Check out these questions to ask your personal injury lawyer to ensure he or she has the expertise, experience, and trustworthiness you require.

To find the best lawyer for your case, you should also do the following.

Check Accreditations and Success Rate

You not only need to make sure your lawyer has a wealth of experience in law. You also need to ensure he or she has specific expertise in personal injury law.

Do some online research before you contact a potential lawyer to find evidence that the lawyer is accredited within the field of expertise.

Lawyers are sure to post accreditations and qualifications on their websites, so that should be your first port of call.

It’s also a good idea to look for statistics and figures on lawyers’ websites to see what their track records are. It helps to know what their success rates are in winning personal injury lawsuits before you decide on which lawyer to hire.

Check Lawyers’ Payment Terms

The vast majority of personal injury lawyers handle cases on a no-win, no-fee basis.

With nothing to pay until you win your case, it’s always worth pursuing legal action for injuries caused by accidents.

If a potential lawyer does not offer a no-win, no-fee policy, it’s best to find another lawyer.

Also, before signing any contracts, make sure you know what percentage your lawyer will deduct from your settlement as his or her fee.

It’s vital you’re aware of your lawyer’s payment structure and terms and conditions before you decide to hire him or her.

Summing Up

When you’re involved in an accident that causes an injury, hire a personal injury lawyer who only charges you when your case is won.

But before you go with a specific lawyer, make sure you do research and ask the right questions to ascertain whether the lawyer is right for you.

Not only do you need to make sure your lawyer is experienced and has a solid track record of winning personal injury cases. You also need to ensure he or she is happy to answer all of your questions and has your best interests at heart.

What Are the Top Treatment Options for Anxiety?

Are you someone who struggles with anxiety? If so, you are not alone. There are lots of people who struggle to deal with anxiety, and there are plenty of treatment options available. If you struggle with anxiety, one of the first things you need to remember is that you need to talk to a mental health professional. A mental health professional can take a look at your specific type of anxiety and customize a treatment option to meet your needs. Fortunately, there are lots of ways you can manage your anxiety. What are some of the key points you need to keep in mind if you are looking for anxiety treatment?

Therapy Is the Cornerstone of Treatment

First, understand that therapy is the cornerstone treatment option when it comes to anxiety. Therapy is important because it can help you understand why you suffer from anxiety. If you can get to the root cause of your issues, you might be able to develop a treatment plan to address them. If you are having trouble finding a therapist to help you manage anxiety, you should reach out to your primary care doctor. He or she might be able to provide you with a referral to a therapist in the area. The hardest thing about therapy is taking that first step. Once you get in a rhythm, therapy can dramatically help you improve your ability to manage anxiety.

Understand Abortive vs. Preventative Medication

Next, you must understand the difference between abortive and preventative medications. Both of these medications can be helpful in managing anxiety. As the name suggests, abortive medication can help you abort an acute panic attack. Some of the most common symptoms of a panic attack include rapid breathing, a high heart rate, sweating, and an impending feeling of doom. If you are developing a panic attack, short-term benzodiazepines might help you stop this in its tracks. Your doctor may prescribe you a short-term benzodiazepine in the event of a panic attack; however, you do not necessarily have to use them. A lot of people feel better just knowing they’re there.

On the other hand, you may need to take preventative medication as well. These medications are designed to prevent you from developing a panic attack. These are medications you may need to take every day. Many of these are long-term benzodiazepines; however, if you do not want to take this class of medication, there are other options available. What you need to do is talk to your mental health professional about options that can help you prevent panic attacks from taking place.

Build a Strong Support System

Furthermore, you need to build a strong support system. One of the biggest reasons why people develop anxiety is that they feel like they have to face their problems on their own. You need to find ways to build strong relationships with your family members and friends. That way, if you are feeling stressed, you have someone you can talk to. If you feel like you don’t have to face everything on your own, you might have an easier time managing symptoms of anxiety. It can be difficult to build a strong support system because you have to open up to others about your internal feelings. Therapy can help you overcome this challenge.

Give CBD a Try

Finally, you might want to consider getting CBD a try. CBD stands for cannabidiol, and a lot of people use it to manage mental health issues. It can also be helpful for managing anxiety. If you are interested in giving CBD a try, you may want to take a look at Weedmaps to learn more about some of the dispensaries in the area. Then, you can talk to a professional at one of the dispensaries and find a CBD product that might work well for you. Before you try CBD for the first time, you should keep your therapist in the loop. Let your mental health professional know that you are thinking about trying CBD for anxiety.

Find a Way To Treat Anxiety

In the end, there are lots of people who suffer from anxiety. Therefore, if you are dealing with anxiety, there are lots of people who can relate to what you are going through. Furthermore, there are mental health professionals who can help you manage anxiety. It is important for you to talk to others because you can build the skills you need to cope with symptoms of anxiety. That way, you may be able to leave prescription medications in the rearview mirror. Finally, there are other treatment options as well. For example, you may want to try CBD. There might be some local dispensaries in the area, so consider trying CBD to help you manage anxiety. This can help you improve your quality of life.

Himiway Launches Four New E-bikes

Himiway promises a more exciting fall this year, thanks to the upcoming launch of 4 new cutting-edge electric bikes from the company. Watch livestream here.

Himiway is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of its 4 types of brand new e-bike models in January 2022 of next year. The electric bike company recently released the teaser for the upcoming models; even though the teaser doesn’t reveal elaborate details about the bikes yet it has already created a  lot of buzz in the outdoor adventure world. Going by the tradition with other Himiway bikes, the upcoming ones too would be under affordable range,  with prices comfortably ranging between $1,000-under$3,000.

The 4 new Himiway bikes that are slated to be launched in January 2022 are – Softail Supreme E-bike, Multifunctional E-bike, and Premium All-terrain E-bike.

“We are thrilled to share that we will soon be launching 3 types of state-of-the-art new electric bike models come fall. While one of them would be the most innovative model from our lineup ever, another one would be an advanced utility bike that would be handy for your daily affairs. The third one is exclusively designed for outdoor enthusiasts and would make a robust partner for your off-road adventures across all terrains”, stated the leading spokesperson from Himiway.

As per the reports, Softail Supreme and Multifunctional models would be new additions to the company lineup. On the other hand, the Premium All-terrain E-bike is speculated to be the successor of the Himiway’s crowd-favorite Cruiser Electric Fat bike. However, these are just speculations- the Premium All-Terrain version may be a completely new variation for all-terrain electric bikes as well.

The Softail Supreme model stands out as the “most innovative” electric bike ever built by Himiway. Engineered with cutting-edge “first-notch” suspension (especially rear and front, based on softail designation), the bike promises to deliver an all-new experience for the riders. Going by the Himiway teaser, the model would be priced somewhere around $2,099 to say, under $4,000.

The second one, Multifunctional E-bike, is being dubbed as an all-rounder that would make a valuable addition to a busy and active family. From ferrying children to making deliveries to quick grocery shopping sessions, the bike has been designed to handle all. The bike will be $2,099.

The Premium All-terrain Electric Fat Bike is an advanced crossover between mountain and urban electric cruiser. As the name suggests, this model is especially designed for off-road adventures and has been equipped with major required features like, extended battery and incredible speed. The upcoming bike will also impress with its stylish looks. As Himiway hasn’t mentioned about fat tires with this bike, the model is likely to be a completely new model from the company. However, the other descriptions sound very similar to that of the previous Cruiser fat bike from Himiway. In regard to cost, the bike is speculated to come around $1,999.

MERGING VERSES NFT

The future of fashion is the merging of two verses, the virtual world (metaverse) and the physical world. We explore this through the unity of traditional photography and animation—where humans and AI co-exist.

The NFT world is something that is growing and still confusing for many people not directly involved in the producing and purchasing of these new age art pieces. 360 MAGAZINE was able to interview several people directly involved in the production side of NFTs, including producer and model Bee Davies and photographer Jacques Burga.

Interview with Bee Davies

  • What made you become interested in NFTs?

I became interested in NFTs when I started doing virtual production and realized that there was no marketplace for digital art. More than that, there was no fan base. We know famous photographers and people who collect their photographsbut there’s not the same kind of hype surrounding animators. An NFT marketplace not only legitimizes their work, but provides a platform that opens up the door for a whole new kind of collector.

  • How do you respond to people suggesting NFTs are overly expensive and pointless?

Couldn’t you say that about all collectibles? Digital art, like any art, is meant to be enjoyed; the NFT marketplaces and wallets allow you to do that much more easily.

  • What is your favorite NFT?

The one I produced with Jacques for 360, because it exemplifies the merging of the real world and the metaverse.

  • Was it odd to see yourself become an NFT?

Not at all. Since the dawn of social media we have all had virtual versions of ourselves, this is just an overt way of expressing it.

  • What are your biggest artistic inspirations?

I would like to create and produce a completely virtual fashion show for the industry’s top fashion houses (this means AI talent, virtual runways, and digital clothing/accessories…as well as an audience attending in VR). And of course, mint every bit of the digital experience so it can be enjoyed in the metaverse for eternity.

  • What are some upcoming projects you’re looking forward to?

I have a bunch of NFTs that will be dropping soon that I’ve collaborated on with different animatorssome of which feature the actors from the SciFi TV Pilot I created.

Interview w/ Jacques Burga

  • What made you become interested in NFTs?

It’s a whole new way of making business. I enjoy pushing boundaries when it comes to projects related to my field. It also makes me feel there’s always a next step to follow and to explore disciplines that I wasn’t precisely an expert in.

  • How do you respond to people suggesting NFTs are overly expensive and pointless?

To keep the mind open to new ways of mixing technology and creativity may be good advice.

  • What are your inspirations as a photographer?

I am inspired by People and Beauty

  • Why did you decide to blend photographic elements with virtual ones?

Our world has become very virtual. Photography gets elevated when it’s blend with other disciplines such as Art or Technology (virtuality.)

  • What is your relationship with digital artwork?

I’m working on digital projects related to Fashion and NFT. My relationship is continuously growing.

  • When did you become interested in photography?

When I left an internship at a high profile magazine in Paris and decided to become independent and nurture my desire to create fashion.

  • What, in your opinion, is your best piece of artwork/photography?

I cherish every project since it is composed of pieces that create a nice puzzle for me.

  • What projects can we expect to see from you in the future?

I will always want to explore and collaborate with new technologies and artists that share my vision of fashion and people.

The Six Best Places to Visit Over Christmas

Christmas is right around the corner, and it’s time to get your plans in order, especially if you want to spend some time alone before being surrounded by family over the Christmas period. You won’t be short of things to do, whether it’s visiting winter markets or entertaining small children, with six of our favorite cities to visit over the winter period.

New York, USA

New York City is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in December, full of festive activities for everyone. Whether you’re a first-time visitor to the city, or have been several times, there are always new experiences to be had; from seeing the Rockefeller Christmas Tree and skating in Central Park, to simply walking around and looking at all the festive displays.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Known for its variety of Christmas markets, Copenhagen is one of the most popular places to visit over the winter period. Denmark is also the home of Hygge, which believes that people deserve to live their coziest and comfiest lives surrounded by family, with Christmas being a time that celebrates this belief. From eating good food to holding a cup of mulled wine as you walk among the famous markets, you’ll have a festive experience to remember.

Sydney, Australia

Not everyone likes winter, so Australia could be the perfect place to visit if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s hot, sunny, and has absolutely no snow in sight! Instead of packing your winter clothing, you’ll need your swimsuit and shorts. Although these may not be commonly seen in high-street stores over winter, online options such as Calypsa swimwear have a variety of options available for everyone. Whether you choose to wear a bikini, swimming costume, or swimming dress, you’ll feel your best self at a BBQ on Sydney’s Bondi Beach or watching the surfing Santa competition.

Paris, France

The most romantic city in the world, Paris is the perfect place to go with the person you love. Whether it’s walking amongst the famous galleries or taking a trip up the Eiffel Tower, Paris is perfect for couples over Christmas. If you prefer something more festive, then you can enjoy the lights down the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, or the Christmas Market held outside the Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Tromsø, Norway

Known for being one of the best places to visit in the Arctic Circle, Tromsø spends December in darkness, making it perfect for seeing the Aurora Borealis, with the snow and mountains surrounding the city creating the perfect winter atmosphere. Tromsø is known for having an abundance of choirs that make the evenings a very social experience, with Christmas markets offering visitors the opportunity to taste traditional foods and drinks.

London, England

Possibly one of the most popular cities in the world, London at Christmas is an experience you won’t forget in a hurry. While it’s unlikely that you’ll see snow, this shouldn’t put you off, especially with the festive displays in store windows to get you in the holiday spirit. If you’re visiting for more than a few days, you should make time to watch one of the many festive pantomimes, see the different Christmas lights, and sing carols in Trafalgar square.

With our list of the best places to spend time over Christmas, you’ll be sure to have a wonderful time wherever you end up visiting. These are only some of the places you can visit, and it’s advisable to check whether there are any travel restrictions in place before you book your holiday.

Organic Wines Are Conquering the World: Here is Why

Thanks to the proliferation of wellness influencers on Instagram and the popularity of cleanses and detoxes, today’s consumers are far more conscious of what they are putting into their bodies than they have ever been before. And wine should not be an exception to this rule.

Unfortunately, wine is often considered an afterthought, with bottles bearing familiar labels and attractive names being placed into the shopping cart alongside organic veggies and free-range, organic eggs. And that is entirely illogical.

Wine is a source of comfort and pleasure, and it is something we can enjoy together at home or through virtual happy hours to help make these difficult times a little more bearable for everyone. So while the emphasis is on immune-boosting foods and staying healthy, the type of wine we drink should be part of that conversation as well, which is why today we’ll be talking about the popularity of drinking organic wine and how it is conquering the world and gaining popularity at online platforms such as 8wines.

What does “organic wine” mean?

In any case, whether you are familiar with the world of wine or not, it is very likely that you have heard the term “organic wine,” which refers to a centuries-old tradition that has been resurrected in recent years.

It is not exactly defined or regulated, but it is essentially grapes produced in the vineyard without the use of pesticides or herbicides, harvested by hand, and spontaneously fermented with wild yeasts that are local to the region. There are no additives, no filtrations, and no manipulations in this product’s production. Organic wines are genuine, pure, unadulterated, and unadorned.

Reasons to fall in love with organic wines

The environmental effect of a bottle of organic wine is significantly lower compared to a bottle of wine from a standard vineyard. However, this is only one of the numerous advantages that many people are unaware of when they come across a bottle of wine labeled “organic” in a retail establishment.

Therefore, we prepared a list of some reasons to fall in love with organic wines and start including them in your lifestyle.

No pesticides

There are no pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides added to organic wine, which means it has a higher purity level than conventional wines. When making organic wine, the grapes used are not subjected to any kind of pre-harvest chemical treatment. Contrary to organic wine producers, conventionally managed vineyards spray their fields to protect the plants from disease, which results in the disease-resistant plants showing up in your wine glass in the process.

Benefits the environment

Organic wines are prepared from grapes sourced from farms and vineyards that have not used genetically modified seeds for at least three years before harvesting them. Growing in healthy and nutritious soils allows them to develop a diverse population of natural microorganisms.

Organic agriculture is concerned with maintaining healthy soils that are filled with life in order to ensure that the vineyards are sustainable over the long term. On the other hand, by refraining from using pesticides, it is necessary to maintain and care for natural enemies, which in turn commits to the preservation and promotion of a diverse ecosystem in some way.

They have a more expressive flavor

Because they do not get fertilizer, the vines are nourished by the soil and its minerals, allowing them to express the actual character of the region from which they originate. It’s similar to the difference between garden lettuce that is full of taste and hydroponic lettuce that is clean and attractive but bland in flavor.

Fewer preservatives

Organic wines are required by law to have fewer sulfites, a preservative that is often used but is believed to be the cause of a nasty hangover after drinking them. In addition, wines with fewer sulfites have a higher level of intensity.

Contain a lot of vitamins and minerals

Since organic wines, in contrast to regular wines, are grown in vineyards using organic ingredients and contain fewer toxins that are hazardous to humans, organically grown grapes include higher levels of Vitamin C, iron, phosphorus, and magnesium. And, we know that all of them serve to maintain our bodies natural defenses and keep our bones strong.

How are organic wines produced?

The use assures more excellent quality of organic wine of organic yeasts, which are virtually always harvested from the previous crop during the manufacturing of organic wine.

The cultivation of organic vineyards entails taking good care of the land and causing more negligible environmental effect while also supporting biodiversity and providing superior quality in terms of nutritional component content.

Those who cultivate and make organic wine must do so with high awareness, attention, and care, as the harvests are considerably more vulnerable. Accordingly, the combination of these three elements and the artisanal component present when working the grapes allows the wine to achieve its full expression, allowing us to have a taste sensation of natural and fresh flavors.

Is it worth buying organic wine?

The use of chemicals in wine production, which helps to reduce costs, might result in organic wines being more expensive than ordinary wines in some cases. Additionally, because organic wines do not contain sulfites, the bottle’s shelf life is substantially less than that of conventional wines.

Despite the fact that high-quality organic wines are not always inexpensive, we can often find them at reasonable prices, allowing demand to keep up with supply and new consumers to become acquainted with the growing trend in wine.

The relevance of organic wines continues to grow even though they account for only about 3.6% of total global wine consumption. According to industry estimates, this subcategory is expected to see the most significant increase in demand in 2022. Almost one billion bottles of organic wine are expected to be consumed worldwide by 2023.

Given all of those mentioned above and existing trends toward organic foods, it is anticipated that demand will steadily increase over time, resulting in a decrease in the price of organic foods.

As we can see, there are no longer any grounds for not experimenting with organic wine and experiencing the benefits of doing so as soon as possible. So the conclusion is that investing in this product and being familiar with the benefits that this one-of-a-kind product will bring is an intelligent investment in our future.

Justice For Ahmaud Arbery

On November 24, 2021, three white men were found guilty of murdering 25-year-old unarmed Black man Ahmaud Arbery. The murder was committed by the three white men after unfounded suspicions that Mr. Arbery had been committing break-ins in their neighborhood in South Georgia.

The three defendants were Travis McMichael, 35, his father, Gregory McMicheal, 65, and William Bryan, 52, their neighbor.

Mr. Arbery lived outside of the small town of Brunswick, Georgia with his mother. He enjoyed staying in good shape and was a jogger who was often seen running in and around his neighborhood. Mr. Arbery was shot dead in a suburban neighborhood known as Satilla Shores through which he was jogging.

On Sunday, February 23, 2020, Arbery was murdered after being provoked by a white man and his son. Gregory McMichael saw Mr. Arbery running in Satilla Shores from his front porch and believed Mr. Arbery looked like a suspected man involved in numerous break-ins in the area. He then called to his son, Travis McMichael.

The police reports state that “the men grabbed a .357 Magnum handgun and shotgun, got into a pickup truck and chased Mr. Arbery, trying unsuccessfully to cut him off. A third man was also [William Bryan] involved in the pursuit.” In a recording of a 911 call that was made before the chase began, a neighbor reported a Black man was inside a house still under construction.

A video shot by William Bryan shows a struggle that preceded three shotgun blasts. The video is about a half-minute long and shows Mr. Arbery running along the two-laned suburban road when he comes upon a white truck. Travis opens the driver’s side door with a shotgun, and Greg, his father, is in the bed of the pickup truck with a handgun.

Mr. Arbery then runs out of frame, and muffled shouting is heard before Mr. Arbery appears back in the video’s view. Mr. Arbery and Travis enter view of the camera recording, fighting outside of the truck as three shotgun shots echo.

Mr. Arbery then tries to run but stumbles and falls after a few steps.

There was another video published that depicted a man walking into a house that was under construction in the same neighborhood, with him eventually running out. S. Lee Merritt, one of Mr. Arbery’s family’s lawyers, released a statement that the video does not reveal anything that was not already understood evidence. Merritt continues by explaining that Mr. Arbery was not engaging in illegal activity and did not take anything from the site.

Gregory McMichael is a former Glynn County police officer and past investigator with the local district attorney’s office.

Two months passed after the shooting, and still, no one had been arrested for the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. The prosecutor for the Brunswick Judicial Circuit, Jackie Johnson, recused herself from the case because of a potential conflict of interest. Gregory, one of the men involved in the shooting, had previously worked in her office.

The case was sent to George E. Barnhill, the district attorney in Waycross, Georgia, who also later recused himself from the case. This came following Mr. Arbery’s mother arguing the point that Barnhill had a point of conflict as well because his son also worked for the Brunswick district attorney. Before he was released from the case, Mr. Barnhill did write a letter to the Glynn County Police Department arguing there was not adequate probable cause to arrest the pursuers of Ahmaud Arbery.

In December, the Atlanta news station WSB attained police body camera footage from when officers arrived on February 23, including the conversations that took place immediately following the shooting. These recorded conversations show that the officers on the scene knew of Gregory’s background.

Ms. Johnson, who was voted out of her job as chief prosecutor for the area, was indicted with a charge of violating her oath. This came about from her demonstration of “favor and affection” to Gregory. There was also a charge of obstruction due to her instructions to two police officers on February 23 to not arrest Travis.

During the eventual lead prosecutor in the case, Linda Dunikoski’s, closing statement, she argued that the defendants began a pursuit after and an attack on Mr. Arbery, “because he was a Black man running down the street.” This raised her question of whether race was a leading issue in the attack. The prosecution continued to argue to the jury that Mr. Arbery posed no imminent threat to the men and that they had no reason to believe he had caused such suspected crimes, a tactic that proved effectual due to the guilty verdict by the jury.

The case and trial have been carefully followed in the United States since the earlier April conviction of white officer Derek Chauvin for the second-degree murder of George Floyd. Video from the scene depicted Chauvin kneeling on the neck of unarmed Black man George Floyd for nearly nine minutes. This video generated an international uproar, placing an emphasis on questions about the unfair treatment that minorities endure at the hands of the police in America.

The three defendants face sentences of up to life in prison for the state crimes that were committed. They had each separately been indicted on federal charges that include hate crimes and attempted kidnapping. They are expected to stand trial for those charges in February.
