Jax Jones × System.inc × Stefflon Don – The Don

BRIT and GRAMMY nominated producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist Jax Jones joins forces with System.inc and British rapper Stefflon Don on their new dance record “The Don.” Released in partnership with Astralwerks and Jax’s own record label WUGD with System.Inc signed to the roster, “The Don” is a fusion of sounds with Steff’s inimitable flow paired with a big bassline beat merging rap and dance for a club ready cut. Speaking of the single, Jax said “System.Inc and I bonded over a shared love of X Presidents ‘Diamond Rings,’ and earlier in the month we made this track in the studio. I played it to Steff, and she loved it. We went into the studio the next day to write the song and cut the vocal. The way she delivered both the hard rap and the singing elements were amazing. She is the Don! This one was a few weeks from studio to release. When something feels good, best not to overthink it. Put it out.”

“The Don” exemplifies the ethos of Jax‘s new label with authentic collaboration at the heart of all his music. Having longstanding ties with both collaborators the track blends genres and sounds to push the binaries of traditional dance music.

JAX’S HEADLINING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR KICKS OFF NEXT MONTH WITH STOPS IN CHICAGO, NEW YORK, LOS ANGELES AND MORE

Europa have today unleashed their debut single ‘All Day And Night’, featuring white-hot US singer Madison Beer. Europa is Jax Jones and Martin Solveig: two friends who also just so happen to be multi-platinum artists (with over 4 billion combined streams), pushing each other to investigate musical avenues they’d never explore on their own.

Europa is club-focused pop music and pop-focused club music. Europa is friendship. Europa is a larger-than-life explosion of unexpected combinations, total freedom, unexpected twists and bridges not walls. Europa is the phrase ‘stronger together’ brought to life in vivid colours.

Born out of a mutual admiration and cemented by a hug given by Martin after Jax’s set in Ibiza, the pair’s collaboration has been a long time coming. It was only after Solveig made the Eurostar trip to Jax’s London studio that they realized that they had something special and the spirit of Europa started to take shape: ‘’for the first-ever Europa session, Martin came in and played a song with a cheeky sax riff in it.’’ Jax adds ‘’He looked at me as if to say: ‘This is a bit taboo, but we could try it.’ And then I said: ‘Well if we’re doing that, how about TRANCE?”

One delight of the genre-agnostic Europa outlook is that it’s truly a project without hard borders, and with US singer/songwriter Madison Beer, who was recognized by Billboard on its 2018 ‘21 Under 21’ roster of the most promising young talents in music, contributing vocals to chart-ready walloper All Day And Night, Europa is also a celebration of frictionless relationships with the rest of the world. “To have Madison on our first track is great. She has an undeniable truth in her vocal that we both really like and since launching her career she’s become an influential voice of her generation,” Martin comments. Late last year Madison released ‘Hurts Like Hell’, which continues to climb the charts and was described by Complex Magazine as her “biggest track to date.” The song is just a glimpse of what’s to come from her highly-anticipated upcoming debut studio album this summer. Future singles will pair Europa with further still-under-wraps vocalists; they’ll be complemented in Europa’s live shows by a raft of club-ready cuts bursting with spontaneity and openness.

“A huge common point for us is that we want people to have fun,” Jax and Martin explain. “Europa has allowed both of us to step out from what everybody else might consider reasonable. Music doesn’t have to be reasonable. You might even say it shouldn’t be.”

The announcement of Europa follows an impressive start to 2019 for London’s Jax Jones. A second BRIT Award nomination in a row came in the wake of his latest Top 10 collaboration – the groove-fueled earworm ‘Play’ ft. Years & Years. He plays his biggest headline show to date at London’s Roundhouse on 6th April, before heading to America for a landmark nine date tour.

Next month, Jax will embark on a headlining tour of North America. Kicking off on April 18 in Washington, D.C., the 10-date run wraps up on May 3 in Los Angeles at The Roxy. See full list of tour dates below.

Today songwriter, producer and musician SG Lewis share his new single “Hurting”featuring internationally acclaimed British songstress AlunaGeorge. The track marks the first single from Dark; the second phase of his upcoming three-part concept albumDusk, Dark, Dawn.

SG Lewis scores percussive basslines alongside arpeggiated synth melodies to accompany AlunaGeorge’s honeyed vocals as she pines after lost love. The resultant track is a dream-worthy collaboration ready for any dance floor.

Speaking on the track, SG says “Aluna and I met for the first time in LA earlier this year, and I was talking to her about the album concept, and in particular, Dark. Aluna has been a part of so many dance records that I love, so I knew I wanted to make a club track with her! After we ate burritos and hung out, we made “Hurting” super quickly – the whole process was super natural between the two of us, and she has such an amazing ear for production.”

“Hurting” is the latest in a long run of exceptional collabs for SG, with his upcoming album featuring J Warner, Kartell and a host of others yet to be announced. Presented over three phases, ‘Dusk, Dark, Dawn’ maps the trajectory of one night out over the course of an album, matching genres and tempos different stages of that night, beginning at sun-down, both inside and outside the club. On ‘Dusk’, SG Lewis plays with disco, west coast hip-hop and 80’s electro references to start the story. “Disco has always had the association of the start of a night for me. I spent a lot a time as a resident DJ in clubs and disco was always that magnetic genre, always brought people onto the dancefloor.” Lead single ‘Aura’ blends SG’s signature warm, uptempo house with disco inflections. “There’s an undeniable beauty to this part of the night. The apprehension, excitement… ‘Dusk’ is the warm-up for the heavier, darker things to come.”

The 6-track release includes features with J Warner and Kartell (Roche Musique) and will be released in full on April 6th via Casablanca/Republic Records. The project will soon segue into ‘Dark’ – a phase dedicated to harder, post-midnight club music styles like techno and hip-hop – and finally ‘Dawn’, dedicated to euphoria and chillout.
