Immersive Shevchenko: Soul of Ukraine

Lighthouse Immersive is proud to announce it raised $250,000 to support Ukraine through Immersive Shevchenko: Soul of Ukraine showings in multiple North American cities. Emboldened to assist Ukraine with its ongoing crisis, Lighthouse Immersive, the producers of the Original Immersive Van Gogh, arranged to have an existing immersive exhibit celebrating the work of Ukrainian artist, poet, philosopher and public figure Taras Shevchenko brought to North America.

Premiering March 15 in Toronto, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston; April in Pittsburgh and Cleveland; ticket sales from Immersive Shevchenko directly supported First Theatrical Charitable Foundation, which focuses on humanitarian needs of Ukrainians with a specific focus on elderly arts and culture workers and other social priority groups who have been left without adequate support at this time and to the National Bank of Ukraine Fund.

In 2021, Ukraine-born Lighthouse Immersive Associate Producer Valeriy Kostyuk, working with a Ukraine-based team including Producer Natalia Delieva, Creative Director Tais Poda, Composer Timur Polyansky, and Curator-Consultant Dmytro Stus, developed and launched an immersive exhibit of Shevchenko’s work in Odesa. Kostyuk sought to apply the artistry and innovation that Lighthouse Immersive practiced with Vincent Van Gogh to one of Ukraine’s most beloved cultural figures. He was able to work with the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko in Kyiv to obtain access to their collection of paintings, resulting in a one-of-a-kind sensory experience that President Zelensky himself visited before the war began. Lighthouse Immersive worked with the Ukrainian producers in Kyiv and Odesa to bring the exhibit to North America so they can share Ukrainian art and culture with audiences abroad while raising funds for a righteous cause.

“I was happy to find a way to use my experiences producing in North America to promote Ukrainian artists,” comments Kostyuk. “Ukrainian culture is as beautiful and moving and important as the culture of any other country in the world, and Shevchenko is, in many ways, a father of the independent Ukrainian nation. I have been moved and inspired beyond words by the endurance and resilience of the Ukrainian people in this moment and I am deeply thankful to the incredible team in Ukraine who partnered with me on this project, as well as to the producers at Lighthouse Immersive for standing with me in this moment.”

The war continues in Ukraine as invading Russian forces continue to encounter fierce resistance. Amidst the bombardments and firefights, workers at the National Museum of Taras Shevchenko crate away valuable pieces of artwork in the exact same containers used to shield them from invading Nazi forces in 1941 to hide the valuable national artwork from the invading Russian Military forces as gunfire erupts just down the street. An artist, poet, writer and political activist of the mid-19th century, Shevchenko was known for expressing themes of Ukrainian oppression by the Russian government in his art.

“It was inspiring to see everyone come together to support the people of Ukraine and be able to donate to Ukrainian charities including the National Bank of Ukraine Fund, Ukrainian Red Cross Society, and First Theatrical Charitable Foundation,” says Lighthouse Immersive Producer Corey Ross

Taras Shevchenko (March 9, 1814-March 10, 1861) is largely considered a cultural trailblazer of the independent Ukrainian nation. Born a serf, Shevchenko was freed in 1838 while a student at the St. Petersburg Academy of Art. A master of Ukrainian painting/graphic art and a spiritual leader, Shevchenko was the founder of critical realism and the folk element in Ukrainian fine arts. Shevchenko’s creative output primarily reflected the socio-political reality of the Ukrainian people of that period and largely expressed themes of Ukrainian oppression by the Russian government and calls for Ukrainian liberation.

Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Torsten Müller-Ötvös.

American artist Sondra Perry joins forces with the Rolls-Royce Art Programme Muse to produce the immersive experience known as Lineage for a Phantom Zone. The program was shaped in support of the Dream Commission, and will open for one full month from February 13 to March 13 at Foundation Beyeler, Switzerland.

One of the most powerful mediums in art today is moving image art. This new program promises to embrace and highlight nothing but that, with film, animation, artificial intelligence and virtual reality pieces incorporated throughout the course. The emergence of social media combined with the affects of the COVID-19 pandemic have altered our world as we knew it, pushing for the rise of the digital age.

In support of the Dream Commission, Rolls-Royce aims to back developing artists in the field of art creation. The establishment of this new platform of moving image artwork expands the realm that we previously knew. With constant visualization of revolutionizing technical and conceptual boundaries, Rolls-Royce fulfills this through their exploration in cooperation with the Dream Commission.

May 2021 Dream Commission winner Sondra Perry works as a moving medium artist specializing in pieces relating to the topics of race, identity and technology. Perry received this honor out of a limited four differing artists in the same field, chosen by a Jury of modern-day art figures. Lineage for a Phantom Zone navigates through Perry’s journey of life highlighting the importance of dreaming. The philosophies of memory, lineage and longing are touched as well, explored through sensory elements that induce the physical, emotional and mental feelings of dreaming.

The 2022 inaugural Dream Commission was made possible through cooperation with Fondation Beyeler, Basel and Serpentine, London.

Convergence Station

Meow Wolf, an immersive arts and entertainment company, announced today the highly-anticipated theme and opening date for its third permanent installation: Convergence Station will be coming to Denver September 17, with tickets on sale HERE.

Convergence Station is the first stop on a quantum journey of exploration and discovery as passengers traverse new worlds, and like all Meow Wolf locations, labyrinthine mysteries beckon from its vibrant walls, portals, and wormholes.

Twenty-five years ago, a freak cosmic event merged four worlds from different universes, erasing the memories of all residents and spawning the mystifying disappearances of four women. The Quantum Department of Transportation serves as the gateway to these diverse worlds: kaleidoscopic cathedrals, Corinthian catacombs, lush alien habitats, and dazzling and gritty cityscapes. In this hotbed of interplanetary cohabitation, memories serve as both currency and the key to unlocking the story behind the women’s disappearances and cause of the convergence–as do multimedia clues that reveal themselves to all of the senses.

“Denver’s art scene is active and vibrant, making it the perfect place for our next exhibition,” said Chadney Everett, Executive Creative Director of Meow Wolf Denver. “Convergence Station is Meow Wolf’s third permanent immersive experience, and it will truly change the way you look at art. This exhibition is unlike anything you’ve ever seen…from The Swamp to The Cathedral – there’s a strong narrative to be uncovered should you choose, alongside truly mind-bending art from the many talented creatives that have worked so hard to bring the vision to life. We can’t wait for everyone to explore.”

Meow Wolf has worked with 110+ Colorado-based collaborating artists and more than 200 internal artists for over three years to bring the 79 unique projects within Convergence Station to life. These muralists, sculptors, fiber artists, and technologists to name a few have come together to create a one-of-a-kind installation that will leave visitors appreciating what it really means to be immersed in a narrative. Notable collaborating artists working on this project include Kalyn Heffernan, Christopher Nelson, Everything is Terrible!, Molina Speaks, Sofie Birkin, along with Moment Factory and many others.

An evolving hive of creativity, Meow Wolf has been creating experiences that challenge the perception of reality, with three locations to explore in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, and soon Denver. Backed by top creators like Games of Thrones’ George R.R. Martin, Meow Wolf is recognized globally as a leader in the immersive space and was ranked on Fast Company’s 2020 list of the ‘World’s Most Innovative Companies’, and awarded the #1 spot for Live Events. Following the success of their flagship location in Santa Fe, the arts and entertainment company launched their second permanent exhibition in Las Vegas in February this year which was an instant success, selling 516,899 tickets to date.

Opening on September 17th, Convergence Station will be open from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm Sunday through Thursday and from 10:00 am until 12:00 am on Fridays and Saturdays. Hours are subject to change.

Gastro Garage

The Gastro Garage is excited to announce that they have added on seven dates to TORCHED, their rooftop pop-up experience at the W Hollywood which now extends through December 12. The Gastro Mechanics will continue to light up the sky with their one-of-a-kind, blowtorch-powered dining experience featuring an 8-course progressive-style dinner with stunning views of the city. The extended dates and times of TORCHED will be on Friday and Saturday nights, Nov 20, 21 and 28 and Dec. 4, 5, 11, and 12 with seatings at 7:30 and 8:45pm. Tickets are $100 per person and available on Eventbrite. Limited tickets available so reservations are mandatory. Please call (310) 993-3979 or visit The Gastro Garage for more information.

If you miss out on snagging a ticket to one of these seatings, they are also doing a third seating at 6pm, exclusively in partnership with FeverUp. Visit FeverUp’s website for more info and to purchase tickets to this seating.

As seen on the Bravo and Travel Channels, The Gastro Garage creates the ultimate action station using blow torches and molecular gastronomy to create savory donut sliders, skewers, and sides. The menu will feature their 8-course Mechanics Menu, which features their signature Gastro Tanks and Drill Bits. During this interactive experience, The Gastro Garage will deconstruct classic dishes and reconstruct them into signature Tanks, made from savory brioche donuts that are filled with nitrous foam in a variety of flavors and then torch them with gourmet toppings, finishing oils, purees, and spices. During this one-of-a-kind, fully immersive dining experience, guests are greeted by “Gastro Mechanics,” clad in welding masks that guide them through the process, all while wielding giant blow torches with flames flying high. The rooftop has been designed to look like a drive-through auto service bay, complete with oil drums, hubcaps, vintage motorcycles and of course, rock ‘n’ roll music and videos playing in the background

The Gastro Mechanics have been wearing masks long before they became COVID mandatory. But their take on masks is quite unique, to say the least. In addition to these talented chefs wearing their own masks, as well as gloves, guests will be required to wear one upon entry to adhere to COVID safety guidelines. Since only a limited number of guests can be accommodated per seating, this smaller sized group event will create a more intimate feel.

“The initial response for TORCHED has been overwhelming and we are thrilled to continue to offer our unique culinary experience to the community after months of eating in,” said Adam Manacker, co-founder of The Gastro Garage. “With limited people per seating, it’s about offering an intimate, and safe experience and experimenting with different flavors, toppings, and oils for the perfect night out under the stars.

Upon arrival, guests will valet their cars, take a private elevator to the rooftop, check in, have a photo-op, and then are escorted to the bar area for cocktails, which will include a welcome toast with a shot of Bullet Bourbon. Afterwards, guests will be entertained by a short story about The Gastro Garage and then devour their first delicious course, which will be the start of this multi-sensory experience. For the next stop, guests will be led by their Mechanics to private tables with spectacular views of the city, where they will dine on five more courses cooked table-side along with a signature cocktail. Then, upon completion of the savory course items, guests will next be guided to an additional cabana by their Mechanic where they will finish the evening with two dessert courses cooked in front of them as they look out onto the magical city lights of L.A

Each ticket is inclusive of all food, a shot of Bullet and a smokin’ specialty cocktail from The Chainsmokers’ Jaja Tequila, as well as a photo-op upon arrival. Cash bar is also available. Tables are available in parties of 2 or 6. For larger or other size reservations, please contact The Gastro Garage directly at (310) 993-3979.
