Lunar New Year x The Met

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will host its annual Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday, February 1, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lunar New Year Festival: Year of the Rat will feature dozens of engaging programs—for visitors of all ages—that reflect traditions from across Asia.

Highlights include Sesame Street Puppeteers Featuring Alan Muraoka along with artist-led workshops and interactive gallery activities like a Hand-Pulled Noodle Demonstration. All Lunar New Year Festival programming is free with Museum admission.

The event is made possible in part by the E.H.A. Foundation and Tiger Baron Foundation. It is presented by the Museum’s Advisory Committee on Cultural Engagement and Education Department.

Performances

Visitors will be welcomed in the Great Hall with the vibrant and beloved opening parade by the Chinese Center on Long Island Lion Troupe. The Sesame Street Puppeteers Featuring Alan Muraoka will perform sing-a-longs that explore the traditions of Lunar New Year, followed by a fun photo-op with Sesame Street characters. Throughout the afternoon, there will also be a variety of performances by the New York Chinese Cultural Center dancers, the Chinese Center on Long Island Lion Troupe, and drummers from the New York Korean Performing Arts Center. Tickets for each event will be distributed 15 minutes prior at the Grace Rainey Rodgers Auditorium.

In Gallery 217, the Astor Court, Vincent Chong, a queer, mixed-race Chinese American artist, will explore art and identity using gold calligraphy and festive fans through 15-minute performances presented every 45 minutes.

Art Activities and Demonstrations

Several artist-led workshops will be offered as part of Lunar New Year Festival: Year of the Rat. Zodiac Zones, for example, will invite guests to discover and learn about their zodiac signs and proudly wear their zodiac animal button. Visitors of all ages can try their hand at different creative workshops—from creating a movable dragon toy that brings good luck in Fierce Dragon Creations to expressing themselves with calligraphy under the guidance of master Chinese calligrapher Zhou Bin from iCanMandarin and designing a pellet drum in Den-den Daiko Drum Making, and more. Families can celebrate and learn through food in a Wu-Wo Tea Ceremony & Bubble Tea Gathering with Ten Ren Tea and Ginseng Co. and a Hand-Pulled Noodle Demonstration. All are welcome to join artist and educator Emily Mock in Festive Feast, where participants can add to the communal paper feast installation for the kitchen gods.

Related Installation

The Met is presenting Celebrating the Year of the Rat, January 17–July 19, 2020, in the Charlotte C. Weber Galleries for the Arts of Ancient China. The exhibition features remarkable works from The Met collection that illustrate the rat’s ubiquitous presence in people’s daily lives as an active, agile, and smart creature.

The exhibition is made possible by the Joseph Hotung Fund.

General Event Information

More about the event, including directions to programming throughout the Museum, will be available at the information desk inside the main entrance at Fifth Avenue and 82nd Street and in the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education, located near the ground-floor entrance at Fifth Avenue and 81st Street. All Lunar New Year Festival programs are free with Museum admission. Suggested Museum admission is $25 for adults, $17 for seniors (65 and over), and $12 for students. Children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult are free.

Bud Light Goes Inside the Brain of its #1 Fan, Post Malone, as he Stars In Two New Commercials for Bud Light and the Newly-Launched Bud Light Seltzer

NEW YORK, Jan. 29, 2020 — Today, Bud Light unveiled“#PostyStore” and “#PostyBar”, two new spots featuring Bud Light Seltzer and Grammy-nominated Bud Light fan, Post Malone. Instead of a traditional launch, the brand is opening up their biggest marketing moment of the year to the fans. Bud Light made two funny ads featuring Post Malone and cannot decide which one to take to Super Bowl LIV as their official in-game commercial. Now the brand is looking to their fans to share their input and help determine which commercial will air in the big game.

Starting this morning through Thursday, January 30, fans can visit Bud Light social channels to watch both commercials and share their input to help Bud Light make the decision on which advertisement to feature during Super Bowl LIV. Fans will need to tune in to the big game to learn which one Bud Light decided on.

“It feels cool to be in a Bud Light commercial, especially a Bud Light Super Bowl commercial, which is a huge deal,” said Post Malone. “I just love the taste and the camaraderie. So it’s a real honor and blessing for me to be able to be a part of such a big moment.”

Both advertisements take you into the brain of musician and Bud Light enthusiast, Post Malone. “#PostyStore” shows Post inside a convenience as he faces a decision a predicament: does he purchase his go-to drink Bud Light or the new Bud Light Seltzer? This predicament sparks confusion and mayhem in Post’s brain, and the store. Ultimately, he remembers that he’s rich and can afford to purchase both – who doesn’t love a happy ending? The second spot,“#PostyBar” follows Post Malone into a bar where he discovers Bud Light Seltzer Mango. Post goes in for a sip and his senses begin to determine what it tastes like, how it smells and if he likes it. Just like the rest of America, Post Malone and his taste buds give Bud Light Seltzer Mango his seal of approval.

Introduced into Korea in 1905 by the American introduction, baseball is by far the most popular sport in Korea. If you are a fan of Korean movies, especially movies about life, you will see how much Koreans love baseball. These superstars who came out of the king sport in Korea are on par with music and movie idols. Baseball always has a certain place in the daily life of the South Koreans.

Major League Baseball has a total of 30 teams from different states of the United States and Canada (29 teams from the US and 1 team from Canada). These 30 teams are divided into 2 different tournament systems, American League (AL, roughly translated as American League) and National League (NL, roughly translated as National League) with 15 teams for each tournament and people in America usually join MLB Odds NJ when betting on the MLB matches.

Ariang’s survey shows that baseball in Korea accounts for more than 52%, equal to both football and basketball combined. The number of fans increased after each season with an estimated 8 million fans. That is why baseball becomes the king sport in Korea.

In big games, getting a ticket to watch a baseball game is just as hard as watching football. The ticket fever is partly due to the passion of the fans, partly because the capacity of Korean baseball fields is only about 20,000 seats, half the capacity of football fields.

The most interesting baseball tournament is the Korean National Baseball Championship. The official tournament has been organized as a professional model since the 1982 season. Korea Baseball Championship officially changed its name to KBO League with six professional baseball clubs participating in the franchise in this tournament.

So far, the number of professional baseball clubs has increased to ten with fierce competition and the more complete playing technique. There have been quite a number of Korean professional baseball players signing for US professional baseball clubs as part of the Major League Baseball (MLB) tournament.

Chris Cornell commemorates his life and legacy not only as a singer, but as a poet and one of the most prolific writers and greatest voices of the modern rock era. Vicky Cornell wanted to create a special album for the fans that would include a selection of Chris’ expansive career, showcasing the breadth of his work and contribution to music history with selections culled from the deep catalogs of his three influential bands— Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave— as well as songs from his solo career. She turned to producer Brendan O’Brien, who was a trusted partner to Cornell over the years, and Jeff Ament who created the packaging for Chris Cornell, now a 2020 GRAMMY® winner.

“I am grateful to Jeff Ament and everyone who helped create such a beautiful work of art from beginning to end, in loving memory and in tribute to Chris – he would be so proud!” said Vicky Cornell. “And a huge thanks to all the fans who’s love and support have carried Chris’s legacy forward. Our children and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping his memory alive. Chris Cornell Forever!”

“When Bad Does Good,” was produced, recorded, and mixed by Cornell, and was found in his personal recordings archive. The track was a favorite of his and it wasn’t until friend Josh Brolin reminded Vicky of the unreleased song that she decided to share it with his fans. Cornell won Best Rock Performance posthumously at the 61st GRAMMY Awards for “When Bad Does Good.”

Sustainable Vacation Planning: Tips and Tricks

Americans aren’t great at planning vacations. So much so that a large tourism industry group, the U.S. Travel Association, is encouraging workers to begin planning their getaways on Jan. 28, dubbed National Plan for Vacation Day

But planning a sustainable vacation – one with a small environmental footprint that is respectful of a destination’s people and culture – is an even taller task, said Jonathon Day, an associate professor in The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Purdue University.

Jonathon Day, chair of the Travel Care Code initiative and author of the book, “An Introduction to Sustainable Tourism and Responsible Travel,” provided these tips for making vacations more socially and environmentally friendly:

Shop local: “Visit local businesses and enjoy authentic experiences from your destination. Visiting farm-to-table restaurants, local arts-and-crafts stores and farmers markets all make a bigger contribution to the communities you visit.”

Be waste wise: “Bring your best habits from home. Plan to recycle and minimize waste, particularly plastic waste when you travel.”

Limit your carbon footprint: “Be a fuel-efficient traveler or purchase carbon offsets for those flights you are taking.”

David Weeks NYC has been a a transcending designer and star in the art world. Recently, he unveiled his latest creation: a 5-foot-tall of Kanye West, showcasing his 4 sides of emotions.
Mr. weeks is the youngest innovative style award recipient and the leader
of a new wave of art. With his new series “Modern day Mount Rushmore”, the artist seeks to bring awareness to cultural legends in the black community who’ve helped shift the culture and provide a path for wealth, success and advocacy. The first in his series is a massive statue of his favorite artist Kanye West. The name of statue is perfect for its four-faced appearance: N.S.E.West.
The statue is now on display at Sneakertopiaa pop-up exhibit and store at HHLA. Inside, you see the restricted sneaker display and will be surrounded by a widespread variety of pricey kicks and very big street art pieces.

Average price to get a view is $20 a person, and you can grab your tickets here. The pop up shoe museum will be on full display with David Weeks NYC’s N.S.E.WEST masterpiece in Los Angeles thru Mar 1st, then will go on to hit other places around the globe.

LIL NAS X RELEASES “RODEO” REMIX (Feat. NAS)

Lil Nas X has released a new remix of his song “Rodeo” featuring Nas.

The two performed the song live at The GRAMMYs last night, where Lil Nas X also took home 2 awards for Best Music Video for “Old Town Road (Official Movie),” and for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Old Town Road (Remix)” with Billy Ray Cyrus.
