Iron Maiden – The Writing on the Wall

Heavy metal band Iron Maiden revealed their brand-new track, “The Writing On The Wall,” with an eagerly anticipated global YouTube video premiere. The song was written by Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith & lead singer Bruce Dickinson, produced by Kevin Shirley and co-produced by Maiden bassist and founder-member Steve Harris.

Bruce Dickinson initially had a concept for the video which came to fruition in collaboration with two Award-winning former Pixar executives and long-standing Maiden fans Mark Andrews & Andrew Gordon. The pair have over 50 years of animation industry experience between them at the very top-level including work on The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Brave, Monsters Inc & Finding Nemo. With partners lining up to get involved with the project they chose BlinkInk, a London based animation studio celebrated for their work with a variety of global brands from Adidas to Coca-Cola and a number of high-profile music videos.

In BlinkInk director Nicos Livesey, another long-time Iron Maiden fan & kindred spirit, they found a man who shared the collective vision for the track–resulting in the final film which features the very first glimpse of a stunning new incarnation of Eddie in spectacular 3D form.

Bruce comments, “I had a pretty clear idea of the concept to accompany the song and when I met Mark and Andrew, on Zoom, it quickly became clear we were all very much on the same wavelength, and this was reinforced with the addition of Nicos and his young BlinkInk team. Our weekly team Zoom meetings were then usually both highly creative and a lot of fun!

I’m very proud of the way the video turned out, it’s more like a mini-film really. I knew it was going to work out as soon as Mark brought my treatment to life with his incredible storyboards. I thought we could make something very special together. I think we did and hope our fans will agree. In fact it’s pretty much created by Maiden fans!”

Director Nicos Livesey takes up the story: “We quickly found the expertise we wanted, and people were literally throwing themselves at me to work on a Maiden video–we had more than 60 people in 13 countries from Brazil to France, & Romania to the U.S.A. to add something to the clip and I’d say their love, passion and understanding of the band shines through every frame. They were a dream team for the producers and myself to manage.”

Chris Cornell: Grammy Winner’s Deluxe Release

CHRIS CORNELL 2020 GRAMMY® AWARD WINNER FOR BEST RECORDING PACKAGE

INCLUDES 2019 GRAMMY® WINNING TRACK “WHEN BAD DOES GOOD”

Chris Cornell, the 17-track self-titled 2LP, was recognized by the Recording Academy and the wider industry with a GRAMMY® Award for Best Recording Packaging at the 2020 ceremonies.  This award is the second GRAMMY® Award tied to this release, the first being in 2019 for Best Rock Performance for the previously unreleased track, “When Bad Does Good.”

Chris Cornell commemorates his life and legacy not only as a singer, but as a poet and one of the most prolific writers and greatest voices of the modern rock era. Vicky Cornell wanted to create a special album for the fans that would include a selection of Chris’ expansive career, showcasing the breadth of his work and contribution to music history with selections culled from the deep catalogs of his three influential bands— Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave— as well as songs from his solo career. She turned to producer Brendan O’Brien, who was a trusted partner to Cornell over the years, and Jeff Ament who created the packaging for Chris Cornell, now a 2020 GRAMMY® winner.

“I am grateful to Jeff Ament and everyone who helped create such a beautiful work of art from beginning to end, in loving memory and in tribute to Chris – he would be so proud!” said Vicky Cornell. “And a huge thanks to all the fans who’s love and support have carried Chris’s legacy forward. Our children and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping his memory alive. Chris Cornell Forever!”

“When Bad Does Good,” was produced, recorded, and mixed by Cornell, and was found in his personal recordings archive. The track was a favorite of his and it wasn’t until friend Josh Brolin reminded Vicky of the unreleased song that she decided to share it with his fans. Cornell won Best Rock Performance posthumously at the 61st GRAMMY Awards for “When Bad Does Good.”

Watch Chris’s 12-year-old son, Christopher pay tribute to his dad in the official video for “When Bad Does Good,” here.

Chris Cornell is available as the GRAMMY® Award Winning 2LP, in addition to the Deluxe Edition 4CD, 1 CD and Digital versions, plus the limited-edition color vinyl Super Deluxe LP box set, re-released in 2019 due to overwhelming demand for the 2018 pressing of the original collection. The box set has been re-released by Cornell’s wife, Vicky Cornell on behalf of The Chris Cornell Estate through UMe, and is available exclusively via the Chris Cornell official store.

The Super Deluxe 4CD, 1DVD, and 180-gram 7LP limited-edition color vinyl box set holds 88 tracks — 64 songs plus 24 videos. Also included in the Super Deluxe box are a 66-page hardcover photo book wrapped in linen with a red foil signature cover, three artist lithos, three photochromatic lithos inspired by Cornell’s lyrical fascination about the sun (images are brought to life by holding under direct sunlight), a turntable mat, a microfiber vinyl cleaning cloth, and a 36×48-inch wall poster.

‪Nine Inch Nails Physical World Presale Events

LISTENING STATIONS DEBUTED TWO ADDITIONAL SONGS FROM

BAD WITCH, OUT JUNE 22

COLD AND BLACK AND INFINITE NORTH AMERICA 2018 TOUR

STARTS SEPTEMBER 13

@nineinchnails Wow. NIN fans are the fucking best. Humbled by the massive turnout today. THANK YOU for trying something different with us. We cannot wait to see you in the fall.

Tens of thousands of people descended on venues across North America as Nine Inch Nails tried a different approach to getting tour tickets directly into the hands of their fans. Taking place in fourteen cities, fans who waited in line at The Physical World presale events had first shot at the best seats for COLD AND BLACK AND INFINITE NORTH AMERICA 2018.

Lines were long at The Physical World presales often wrapping multiple times around city blocks but fans made the most of their time as they connected with other like-minded individuals. A locked box in each city contained a NIN listening station playing 2 new songs at loud volume on a loop, giving Ahead of Ourselves and Play the Goddamned Part their world debut.

Limited edition presale t-shirts and lithographs, customized for each venue, were available to the fans who made the effort to show up. Local businesses got involved, with Alamo Drafthouse in Dallas creating a custom Nine Inch Nails menu for the day and Chicago coffee roaster Dark Matter delivering a custom blend to the throng of fans outside the Aragon Ballroom. The events had their challenges, and venue and promoter staff worked closely with the band to resolve issues as they came up.

Trent Reznor says:

We’re playing a limited amount of shows in a more intimate setting this time around, and we thought we’d try something different regarding ticketing. Our goals wasn’t simply to combat scalping and resellers, but to turn the process into a communal activity. Although not without hiccups (we underestimated the turnout – Jesus!), it was incredibly rewarding to see actual fans getting great seats at face value and experience something together. We are very much looking forward to the shows – thank you as always for your support! #NINOnTour

@rogershepard 8 hours later, Row 4 for #NINONTOUR #Boston – humanity restored

@LTamasfi This #ninontour #nineinchnails event was amazing! We hang out all night, out tickets that came with a beautiful display envelope, I picked up a pre-sale limited edition lithograph, an event only t shirt, and got to listen to 2 unreleased tracks from the incoming album!

@blackcelebrantt You can only imagine the success we felt after waiting 6 hours. Last batch of VIP tickets in hand!

@earlypaintbrush Itߣs like the 90s but with less hair and more phones

@YogiJoshKenobi Aaaaaannnddd we got tix!!! waited in line for 2 hours, but worth it!haha and no fees too!!!

@trent_reznorߣs sinister plan succeeded after all

@StuntmanSeth We met some cool folks in line. And the staff was providing drinks and stuff. Much better than fighting with bots online getting nosebleeds

Instagram user Jennaxarkansas: Totally worth all of this. 4th row.

@LexiNicole85 Thank you @nineinchnails @trent_reznor for giving us an experience today. I had human interactions and met some awesome people! From the merch table to listening area of album. Everyone kept talking about how it reminded them of good ole days

@NannyNouvelle Scalper showed up, bought $500 in tix. Turned around and tried to sell GA $300 a ticket. Got hauled off immediately.

Reddit user TheJVR: Like most of you, I went to the venue nervous; not knowing what to expect, not knowing if I’d get tickets for sure…We were there for 4 1/2 hours, but the time flew by. I’d been planning to see this show alone (my wife isn’t interested), but me and two of the other guys ended up buying seats next each other for the same night (the seats in the section I wanted!). I’m no longer going alone. It’s my first show, so I’m excited to have company.

Instagram user Girlswannabeher: After 10 hours of waiting, standing in the rain and having endless conversations about this music and the gift if has brought to so many, these are mine. It was an incredible day to talk to so many strangers learn about their lives and share pieces of mine. Many of these people I would have never crossed paths with otherwise. The human experience is alive and well, the requirement isnߣt money or status, it is a desire to participate.

@wolves_lower: Yo Trent Reznor pulled the biggest trick of all and actually forced me to talk to total strangers.
