Lil Baby × Drai’s Nightclub

On Saturday, Nov. 6, Lil Baby delivered an electrifying performance with his return to the Drai’s LIVE stage for the first time in nearly two years. Lil Baby packed the house with hits like “Sum 2 Prove,” “Woah” and “Freestyle.” Lil Baby’s unforgettable show followed the highly anticipated fight between boxing champions Canelo Álvarez and Caleb Plant in Las Vegas, which made Drai’s the perfect place to party after the fight.

Fellow Grammy Award winner and Drai’s resident, 2 Chainz, who performed the night before, was in the crowd to witness Lil Baby’s return to Drai’s. On Friday night, 2 Chainz performed crowd-favorite tracks like “I’m Different,” “Birthday” and “No Lie.” The weekend was closed out with the SunDrais experience, the best Sunday night party on the Strip hosted by legendary DJ and producer DJ Franzen.

Lil Baby has recently been awarded the title of “Best Male Hip-Hop Artist” at the 2021 BET Music Awards, and his album entitled “My Turn” won “Hip-Hop Album of the Year” at the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards. His most recent album, which was released in July of this year in a collaboration with Lil Durk, debuted at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

BMF – Love All Trust Few

BMF is inspired by the true story of two brothers, Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory (Demetrius Flenory, Jr.) and Terry Southwest T Flenory (Da’Vinchi), from the inner-city streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980’s, who fostered the most prominent drug trafficking organization in the U.S., known as Black Mafia Family.

This series explores the brothers’ lives, their family dynamics and their relationship with the community in an authentic manner that highlights their upbringing in a traditional family unit. Their parents Charles Flenory (Russell Hornsby) and Lucille Flenory (Michole Briana White), as well as their spiritual advisor, Pastor Swift (Snoop Dogg), push the brothers to pursue formal education. The tension between Meech and Terry’s blood family and the criminal family they formed to eradicate themselves from poverty creates inner conflict as the brothers pursue the ever-elusive American Dream.

BMF stars Demetrius Lil Meech Flenory Jr., the son of Demetrius Big Meech Flenory; Da’Vinchi (The Way Back, grown-ish), Russell Hornsby (Fences, The Hate U Give), Michole Briana White (Dead to Me, She Hate Me), Ajiona Alexus (Empire,13 Reasons Why), Eric Kofi Abrefa (Blue Story, Fury), Myles Truitt (Black Lightning,The New Edition Story) and Steve Harris (The Practice, Diary of a Mad Black Woman). Snoop Dogg (Dolemite Is My Name, Soul Plane, Training Day), Arkeisha Kash Doll Knight, Wood Harris (Empire, Creed), La La Anthony (The Chi, Think Like a Man) and Serayah (Empire, Favorite Son) star in recurring roles.

BMF is executive produced by Curtis 50 Cent Jackson (co-creator of the Power Universe, For Life), alongside showrunner, executive producer, writer and Detroit native Randy Huggins. Tasha Smith is set to direct multiple episodes and executive produce. Terri Kopp, Anthony Wilson and Anne Clements also serve as executive producers on the series. BMF is produced through Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television in association with Lionsgate Television for STARZ.

DBD Academy’s Espresso Nutcracker

Dallas Black Dance Academy (DBD Academy) presents its fourth annual Espresso Nutcracker, with a new twist on a holiday tradition. The performance is jazz-influenced by the music of Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite. Co-Sponsors for the Espresso Nutcracker are Macy’s and the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.

The single performance is scheduled for Saturday, December 11 at 7 pm in the Majestic Theatre in Dallas, TX. The performance is also available via live streaming and on-demand. Through their sponsorship, Macy’s is sharing virtual viewing access with up to 30 social service agencies and children’s hospitals nationwide. Last year’s initiative allowed over 1,500 youth and families the opportunity to virtually share the holiday experience.

“We are honored to provide support to such an incredible organization, whose impactful work plays a vital role in strengthening and enriching our community,” said Emma Conniff, corporate giving associate at Macy’s. “The holidays are when Macy’s shines the brightest, and we are excited to partner with Dallas Black Dance Academy to spread holiday magic to viewers of all ages.”

DBD Academy Director Katricia Eaglin choreographed Espresso Nutcracker with assistance from the academy ballet instructors of the Pre-Professional Division levels 1-4 students who will perform in the production. Eaglin was inspired to use the traditional Tchaikovsky music along with tracks from Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite, selecting Ellington tracks that were still recognizable to the original work. She added narration to the performance as well as an African dance to the Land of Sweets Act that includes Spanish, Arabian, Chinese, and Russian dances in the original.

“I was inspired to create and produce the Espresso Nutcracker for Dallas Black Dance Academy so our academy students could be involved in the Nutcracker tradition,” said Eaglin. “We’re excited to have our students re-enter the theatre and share how they have grown while training virtually during the 2020-2021 season!”

DBD Academy is the official school of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT), and allows students to learn virtually and in-person. The original Nutcracker Ballet, choreographed by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, is one of the most famous ballets in the world and tells the story of young Clara’s magical journey on Christmas Eve.

Many dance academies bring in professionals to dance key Nutcracker roles, but Dallas Black Dance Academy students will dance all the key parts, such as the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Snow Queen. DBDT professional dancers will dance the adult characters of the Mother, Father, and Drosselmeyer.

Dallas Black Dance Theatre is limiting seating capacity to allow for social distancing in accordance with CDC guidelines and because of limited ticket availability, DBDT will not be able to give discounts on groups or subscriptions this year. You can watch the live stream broadcast in real-time beginning at 7:00 pm CDT on Saturday, December 11, while the on-demand option will be available starting at 9:00 pm CDT Saturday through Monday, December 13, 11:59 pm CST.

Willow Kayne – Opinion

Over the span of just two singles, London-based, Bristol-born artist Willow Kayne has turbocharged the landscape of pop music within the UK. Her debut single “Two Seater” was a perfect introduction; a rabble-rousing ode to living life on your own terms that has been included on the soundtrack to FIFA 22, while her follow up “I Don’t Wanna Know” was a break-infused middle finger to online trolls that takes cues from her love of rave culture. Her high octane, postmodern touch on pop has already earned critical acclaim with her winning the Ivor Novello Rising Star award for 2021 and being mentored by pop legend Nile Rodgers in the process. Today, Willow Kayne adds another cut to her mighty discography, with the attitude-fueled “Opinion.”

Inspired by the unfuckwithable rebel-pop of 00s icons such as Santigold and M.I.A, the track lands a sucker punch from the outset, breaking out of playground soundscapes with gargantuan bass hits and a pulse-raising hook that takes cues from the aforementioned Santigold. Making way for Willow to spotlight her most dexterous rapping yet, “Opinion” is a full-bodied rapid fire message for the uninitiated to keep their comments to themselves and to simply stand back and watch her blaze her own trail.

On the track, Willow says:

“I wrote ‘Opinion’ last year after receiving childlike comments that people just insisted I had to know! There’s a strong playground theme in this song to remind those of how close to schoolyard drama it all sounds. I’m definitely one for airing out stupid comments I receive in my music, and this was just another opportunity to remind people of how childish it can sound sometimes. I’m fighting fire with fire!”

An unashamedly tenacious example of why Willow Kayne is one of the most exciting emerging artists in the world right now, “Opinion” takes her genre-blurring attitude to creation to the very next level. A perfect example of just how explosive pop can be in the right hands, no one can predict which direction Willow will steer her unwieldy sonics – but one thing we can predict is that it’ll be an unforgettable ride.

About THE FIRST 21: How I Became Nikki Sixx:

Rock-and-roll icon and three-time bestselling author Nikki Sixx tells his origin story: how Frank Feranna became Nikki Sixx, chronicling his fascinating journey from irrepressible Idaho farm boy to the man who formed the revolutionary rock group Mötley Crüe.

Nikki Sixx is one of the most respected, recognizable, and entrepreneurial icons in the music industry. As the founder of Mötley Crüe, who is now in his twenty-first year of sobriety, Sixx is incredibly passionate about his craft and wonderfully open about his life in rock and roll, and as a person of the world. Born Franklin Carlton Feranna on December 11, 1958, young Frankie was abandoned by his father and partly raised by his mother, a woman who was ahead of her time but deeply troubled. Frankie ended up living with his grandparents, bouncing from farm to farm and state to state. He was an all-American kid—hunting, fishing, chasing girls, and playing football—but underneath it all, there was a burning desire for more, and that more was music. He eventually took a Greyhound bound for Hollywood.

In Los Angeles, Frank lived with his aunt and his uncle—the president of Capitol Records—for a short time. But there was no easy path to the top. He was soon on his own. There were dead-end jobs: dipping circuit boards, clerking at liquor and record stores, selling used light bulbs, and hustling to survive. But at night, Frank honed his craft, joining Sister, a band formed by fellow hard-rock veteran Blackie Lawless, and formed a group of his own: London, the precursor of Mötley Crüe. Turning down an offer to join Randy Rhoads’s band, Frank changed his name to Nikki London, Nikki Nine, and, finally, Nikki Sixx. Like Huck Finn with a stolen guitar, he had a vision: a group that combined punk, glam, and hard rock into the biggest, most theatrical, and irresistible package the world had ever seen. With hard work, passion, and some luck, the vision manifested in reality—and this is a profound true story of finding identity, of how Frank Feranna became Nikki Sixx. It’s also a road map to the ways you can overcome anything, and achieve all your goals, if only you put your mind to it.

KAY FLOCK – THE D.O.A. TAPE RELEASED

NEW YORK DRILL PHENOMENON KAY FLOCK DROPS THE D.O.A. TAPE

INCLUDES NEW “BEING HONEST” REMIX FEAT. G HERBO

COMING OFF COLLABORATING WITH LIL TJAY & FIVIO FOREIGN ON “NOT IN THE MOOD”

Today, buzzing New York drill rapper Kay Flock unveils his debut project The D.O.A. Tape.

The eight-track collection kicks the door open with the intense and infectious “Is Ya Ready” where his screams cut through thick bass and anxious production. On “Opp Spotter,” his gruff flows cut down adversaries as an ominous beat rattles. Then, there’s “Speed Racing” where he leans into pummeling verses with a gruff delivery before an unnervingly catchy hook.

He recently dropped the music video for “Being Honest (Remix)” [feat. G Herbo]. The clip captures his intense delivery onscreen as he turns up next to multiplatinum Chicago drill star G Herbo.

He made headlines with his appearance during Meek Mill’s Madison Square Garden show in New York along with his surprise Rolling Loud NY performance. Meanwhile, he flexed with a knockout feature on Lil Tjay’s “Not In The Mood” alongside Fivio Foreign.

He paved the way for The D.O.A. Tape with a trio of bangers: “TCardi” [feat. Dougie B, Lil Skrap 1090 & Justo B], “Brotherly Love” [feat. Dougie B & B-Lovee], and, most recently, “Being Honest.” Beyond piling up millions of streams, he also attracted critical acclaim. Pitchfork contended Flock “revitalized New York Drill.”

The D.O.A. Tape is just the beginning for Kay Flock.

About Kay Flock

Kay Flock’s vision of drill music feels raw and free-spirited—an unburdened, electrifying take on his city’s most exciting new sound. The New York rapper has spent the last couple years making tracks that bring some of the movement’s strongest future stars together while amplifying his own, pitching drill as collaborative, energetic, and most of all, alive. His raps, captured in street smashes like “Brotherly Love,” featuring fellow Bronx MCs B-Lovee and Dougie B, demonstrate the thrill of the ecstatic genre. Every bar is spit with the pedal pressed all the way to the floor. In ways, his rise is similar to other New York drill artists, climbing from humble beginnings to the verge of the mainstream, but Kay Flock hails from the Bronx, a neighborhood that hasn’t so far produced the genre’s stars. He grew up in a rugged environment he describes as “dangerous” and, as a teenager, found escape in Brooklyn drill as well as the music of Chicago rappers like King Von. In the Bronx, Flock made lifelong friends in B-Lovee and Dougie B who, in 2020, introduced him to recording. Almost immediately, you could recognize Flock’s unmistakable talent—and his city did. Early singles like “Opp Shottas” with B-Lovee have earned millions of video views in less than a year. Now, Flock has emerged as the Bronx’s and arguably New York City’s hottest new rapper. Even as Flock’s star rises, and the co-signs roll in from Pitchfork, No Jumper, and artists from G Herbo, Lil Tjay—he doesn’t plan to switch up. He’s staying true to himself.

LORDE – SOLAR POWER BONUS TRACKS

LORDE RELEASES TWO SOLAR POWER BONUS TRACKS “HELEN OF TROY” AND “HOLD NO GRUDGE” AVAILABLE EVERYWHERE NOW

“FALLEN FRUIT” MUSIC VIDEO DROPPED EARLIER THIS WEEK FROM CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED THIRD STUDIO ALBUM SOLAR POWER

GRAMMY® Award-winning multiplatinum artist LORDE took to her Solar Power Institute Bulletin earlier this week to drop the surprise music video for “Fallen Fruit” and announce the release of her Solar Power bonus tracks, “Helen of Troy” and “Hold No Grudge” to DSPs. The songs are available to stream everywhere and the music video is available to watch now.

Of the bonus tracks LORDE says, “These songs were fun explorations on the album journey. They didn’t quite fit into the track list for whatever reason but they’re both big tunes.”

Of “Helen of Troy” she says, “We wrote it super quickly in the tiniest room at Westlake where we did a bunch of Melo and it was fun the whole time. It’s super off the cuff lyrically, almost ad-libbed, and you can hear me starting to figure out some album themes…”

When writing of “Hold No Grudge” she says, “HNG is a sort of composite portrait of when relationships turn sour, being trapped in the ice but remembering the warmth.”

Of the “Fallen Fruit” music video LORDE says, “In the Solar Power video, you were introduced to the island as a lush paradise — glistening water, blue skies, not a grain of sand out of place (barring that pesky beach trash…). Cut to: humans doing as they do, getting greedy, treating the land with disrespect and stripping it of its beauty. There’ll always be another pristine place to start again, right? The gardens that were once lush and fruitful are now on fire. The fishing boats are busted up and overturned. All that’s left of the peaches are their pits. Amid all that, my character makes a choice.”

The artist’s latest visual gives fans a deeper look into the universe of Solar Power. Depicting human destruction and the Global climate crisis, the video is a powerful statement of the times.

The two bonus tracks were originally debuted exclusively on the Music Box and are now available at DSPs everywhere.

About LORDE

In 2013, a 16-year-old LORDE quietly, yet confidently asserted herself as the voice of a generation with her full-length debut, Pure Heroine. The album would go triple-platinum, win two GRAMMY® Awards, and spawn the certified Diamond, record-breaking, international juggernaut single, “Royals,” and quadruple-platinum follow up “Team.” The former cemented LORDE as “the youngest solo artist and the only New Zealander to achieve #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since 1987.” Time exalted her amongst the “Most Influential Teenagers in the World,” she landed on Forbes’s “30 Under 30” List, graced the cover of Rolling Stone and performed alongside Nirvana during the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. She also curated the official soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and recorded “Yellow Flicker Beat” as the lead single. In 2017 LORDE released her second full-length studio album, Melodrama which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Chart, making her the first ever NZ artist to land a #1 debut album in the United States. The album reached #1 in over 45 countries and earned LORDE a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2018 GRAMMY® Awards. LORDE makes her highly anticipated return with critically acclaimed new single, “Solar Power,” from her third full-length studio album, Solar Power, due out August 20th. LORDE currently has over 12 million albums sold worldwide and over 10 billion streams worldwide.
