Kiip’s CEO: March Update

March has been Madness! (In the best of ways)

We’re kiiping busy, and hope you have been too. This year is already flying by and we’ve got so much to share!

#PressforProgress & #feff

Kiip is dedicated to supporting and growing an equal and diverse workforce and we know that means having an open and honest conversation about how we can do better. Take a look at what our leaders here at Kiip have to say about progress in 2018.

&#feff; Kiip Gets Into the Data & Audiences Business

Audiences

We’ve been hard at work. Since we launched our Moments Table, many brands have asked if they can use our data more broadly. We finally launched our audiences into (initially) LiveRamp Data Store and now I am happy to report that you can buy moments audiences decoupled with our media.

Surveys

On top of this, we rounded out our data suite with our Surveys product. Too often as marketers we are faced with limited 3rd party data options (largely cookie based or too probabilistic). We decided to use our mobile-first positioning and engagement unit in our ads to create a survey product where the marketer can simply ask the consumer (millions of them). With these survey responses we can create seed audiences activated on Kiip (or elsewhere as aforementioned) or simply qualify the success of your campaign. The possibilities are endless.

Helpful Content

To help further hammer home the point of why we went into the data business, we put together some helpful content. An interesting tidbit: the VP of Netflix started quite a stir in 2016 when he suggested that demographic data was a thing of the past, or rather headed to the trash. I believe that marketing is heading from a segment-based approach to a signal-based approach. Here’s a post from one of our brilliant strategist Lauren, on how best to ensure that your audience data is used effectively and sourced transparently.

Okay so now you’ve read all about how to avoid the pitfalls (in the post linked above), are you ready to talk strategy and leave generic data in the past? Schedule a complimentary session today and learn more about how our audience targeting stands out from the crowd.

The Summer Forecast

Every month we release mobile app behavior trends called M.I.C. drops. These help our media buying customers to get ahead of trends and know how to buy more effectively based on what people are going to be spending time doing. The March M.I.C. drop stats are in and it’s sunny with a chance of 2 in 3 teens working this summer. This summer polls 55% of teens working and earning over $1K. We’ve collected the data, now you can make accurate predictions on what they’ll be spending that money on and when. See for yourself how best to reach a teen audience this summer!

Case Study Center

    • We’ve been working with the app store’s most popular free fitness app for a while now: Sweatcoin. Here’s our case study with how we worked with them to monetize and engage their most active users.
  • Here’s another case study about a lifestyle app that’s all about beauty and selfies. You wouldn’t believe how many people love this app.

APPLE MUSIC TO BAZZI: I Just Had to Let you Know You’re Mine

Apple Music’s journey with Bazzi began last summer when the service’s Pop Curator Arjan Timmermans came across Bazzi while browsing Instagram. From there, Apple Music fully championed Bazzi throughout the service from radio and playlists to Beats 1. In October 2017, Apple Music was the first streaming platform to debut “Mine,” which quickly skyrocketed after placement on the popular Today’s Hits and A-List: Pop playlists. By January 2018, Bazzi held the #1 spot across all Apple Music Pop playlists.

“Bazzi’s fine sense of melody and honest storytelling capture a singular, genre-defying vision that is truly one of a kind,” said Timmermans. “He is without a doubt one of the biggest and most important new pop artists to emerge in 2018.”

This spring Bazzi will join Camilla Cabello as a special guest on the singer’s sold-out Never Be The Same Tour.

“When I first listened to ‘Mine’, it stood out from everything that was out- it sounded so honest and original and coming straight from his heart,” Cabello said. “I listened to all of his songs after that and was hooked! I think he has such an original style and it sounds so effortless for him. I think he’s a breath of fresh air in pop music and it’s been so amazing to introduce him to my fans on tour.”

A FAVOR DE LO MEJOR

Yesterday, 360 MAGAZINE had the opportunity to speak with a group of communications and marketing college students from Mexico whom embodied all of the core principles of a global society – they all celebrated their own uniqueness.

“Never in my wildest dreams would I ever have envisaged that this once young scraggly African-American boy, whom hailed from Detroit, would be able to influence another culture and encourage others to believe that their own individual brands would be able to coexist with their ability to simply be themselves. This road hasn’t always been an easy one; but with the vast support of team members, family and friends, the impossible has become possible. I dedicate this entire networking presentation to my late father whom always encouraged me to walk in silence while I talk through my actions.” – Vaughn Lowery

Special thanks to Eric Brown (of Nickelodeon), Franklin Pena and Owen Duckett (for capturing this memorable moment).

MIRANDA LAMBERT x RECORD-BREAKING MEGASTAR

Miranda Lambert made country music history following the 53rd Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 15th. The country mega-star now stands as the most decorated artist in ACM history with a collective 32 career wins. Lambert won three awards during Sunday’s show including her ninth consecutive “Female Vocalist of the Year” award and two for “Song of the Year” for her emotionally-raw hit “Tin Man” (songwriter and performer) from her Platinum double-album The Weight of These Wings.

“I cannot believe this, I really can’t,” Lambert said. “I love country music. It’s my entire life, and the fact that you all care so much about what I’m doing, I’ll never take it for granted.”

Lambert also stunned in the performance of her newest single, “Keeper of the Flame,” which hits radio on April 30th. The single is her latest from the powerhouse double-album, The Weight of These Wings.

This summer, Lambert alongside award-winning group Little Big Town, will be hitting the road in their co-headlining, The Bandwagon Tour, which kicks off on July 12th in Charlotte, NC. The tour will travel along the U.S. Atlantic seaboard, Southeast and Midwest regions.

Live Nation is the national tour promoter for The Bandwagon Tour and please visit MirandaLambert.com and LittleBigTown.com for more information on show dates and ticketing.
