Protest song visual

Versa the Band | Don Da Menace × Enough

While watching attentively at the protests that have been filling the streets of America, 15 year old Singer/Songwriter Robert Eberle
felt inspired to write a song entitled “Enough”; which aims to affect a positive change in the fight against systemic racism in the United States – and all around the world. He then enlisted friends Ethan Felizzari/VERSA THE BAND (whom Robert collaborated with on “Hate Me” in 2019) and CK Records Management Division artist DON DA MENACE to create this poignant and memorable tribute to an important cause – the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

“When is it enough?? I am upset by what I see from those who are supposed to be protecting all of us from harm, and by what I hear from the so called leaders of our country about it”, Robert said, “The constitution is supposed to provide equality and liberty for everyone, regardless of your race, and that just doesn’t seem to always happen – especially for those in the Black community. It’s wrong and it needs to change, now. Young people especially are just fed up and even though a lot of us can’t vote – yet – our generation isn’t just going
to sit by and do nothing”.

Produced and Engineered by Colton Lava, “Enough” (with Versa the Band & Don Da Menace is now available on Spotify, Apple Music and all the major services. The video for the track is also available on YouTube.

Boom: The Fourth Saxon State Exhibition

On Saturday, July 11th, the Fourth Saxon State Exhibition called Boom will open to celebrate 500 years of Saxony’s industrial heritage. The substantial website allows you to also virtually enjoy Saxony’s amazing tribute to its high-quality global brands and industrial culture.

The southwestern region of Saxony was one of the first and most important centers of European industrialization. To this day, Saxons’ self-image still rests on the triad of natural beauty, cultural wealth and a broad industrial base. It is the success of these brands and Saxony’s entrepreneurialism that has allowed Saxony to build its extraordinary musical, artistic and architectural culture.

From July 11 to the end of this year, the Audi Building in Zwickau will host the central exhibition of the Fourth Saxon State Exhibition, Boom, while six other cities in the region will host additional and important parts of the exhibition, including the AutoBoom in the August Horch Museum in Zwickau; the Machine Boom in the Chemnitz Industrial Museum; the Railway Boom in the Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf Railway (outdoors); the Coal Boom in the Mining Museum in the Ore Mountains; the Textile Boom in the Cloth Factory in the Gebr Pfau Grimmitschau in Grimmitschau; and the Silver Boom in the Research and Teaching Mine in Freiberg.

These six topics are fleshed out in important locations where that “Boom” was most evident.

  • Auto Boom. is located in the August Horch Museum in Zwickau, which is next to the central exhibition in the Audi Building. The Horch museum is where the first models from major global automotive brands, including Horch and Audi, rolled off the assembly and Zwickau later was the birthplace of the legendary Trabant. August Horch was the founder of the company that would become Audi.
  • Machine Boom. is located in the Chemnitz Industrial Museum, where machines (such as the filigree clockwork at Glashütte to the high-tech machine center) have been designed and produced for more than 200 years.
  • Railway Boom. is on the site of the Schauplatz Eisenbahn (Railway Museum Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf) where you can see the industrial networking of people, raw materials and products in an open-air museum between historic steam and diesel locomotives in the sooty atmosphere of a roundhouse.
  • Coal Boom. is shown in the mining museum in Oelsnitz / Erzgebirg or the Ore Mountains where the coal industry, which was fundamental for the economic development of south-west Saxony, takes a look into the future of energy supply.
  • Textile Boom. is located in the originally preserved cloth factory Gebr Pfau in Crimmitschau. The machines and looms, some of which are 100 years old, are presented in a factory that has not changed since the doors were closed.
  • Silver Boom. is located in the research and teaching mine, Silver mine Freiberg, and provides deep insights into the history of ore mining and shows what role current scientific research plays in resource technologies.

In addition to these six geographic locations, the central exhibition in the Audi Building presents Saxony’s 500-year industrial booms in six time periods. It tells of an eventful history of the hard-working people of an early industrialized region with historical documents, objects, technical devices, photographs and through films and valuable works of art and spectacular media installations. The first period of the five hundred years of industrial culture was the Silver Rush (1470-1813) when the discover of silver in the Ore Mountains set off a clamor for mining not only of silver but also tin and copper. It was an unprecedented boom and attracted people from all over Europe. Augustus the Strong used this incredible wealth to build up the coffers of his state, buy art and collect treasures from around the world to build Dresden into one of Europe’s glittering capitals of art and architecture.

The second period from 1763 to 1914 was the emergence of the textile industry and mechanical engineering which drove development in Saxony and around the world. In 1914, Saxony was the most industrialized state in the entire German Reich. There was a third period from 1831 to 1914 when there was a rapid development in technology, science and machines. The fourth period from the eve of WWI to the end of WWII is marked by groundbreaking inventions and unprecedented, industrially shaped and organized violence.

The fifth period from 1945 to 1995 includes the industrial culture of East Germany and the Trabant is a symbol of the East German economic system. It
focuses on the working world and everyday life of people up to the political turn as well as the breaks and opportunities and structural changes that the fall of the wall brought about. The final period from 2020 to the future is all about what is to come and the future of technology in Saxony. Positive developments are emerging from Saxony’s keen entrepreneurial spirit, innovations based on research and knowledge and the ability to constantly change.

It is appropriate that the Saxon state has chosen the Audi Building in Zwickau as the place for the central exhibition as this was an assembly hall of Auto Union AG from 1938. The Auto Union was the coming together of four independent Saxon car manufacturers: Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer. Audi’s logo of four interlocking rings represents these original four members of the Auto Union. Audi is actually a Latin derivation of Horch’s name which means hark or Audi in Latin.

The Audi Building as well as the museum for Horch in Zwickau are a worthy one hour and fifteen-minute drive from Leipzig or Dresden. Even if you cannot visit in person in 2020, the museums in each of the towns will always be there and there is a book on the exhibition that you can order online.

The Best Time to Purchase a Car

Six Expert Pointers on the Best Time to Purchase a Car

Before you drive off into the sunset with your dream wheels, these tips for buying a car based on day, month, and holiday sales could offer massive savings:

1. Do Your Car Shopping Early in the Week

Naturally, most people tend to have more time on their hands over the weekends when browsing or shopping for a new car. But, in order to bag a better deal, you really should avoid weekends when car shopping.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are the ideal days of the week for purchasing a car. This is due to less customer traffic, which means a better chance of driving away with a better deal.

Car dealerships are also crowded over the weekends, which results in less personalized attention. This makes price negotiation difficult.

So, stick to the early days in the week and take advantage of those limited opportunities when car dealerships are at their quietest.

2. Shop Later in the Year (and Month)

Buying a new car at the turn of a new year is never a good idea. Instead, stick to later months in the year such as October, November, and December. Car dealerships generally have sales quotas and sales goals they have to meet by these later months in the year.

Shopping for a car at this time could be work to your advantage as salespeople intend to settle with their sales goals and quotas in mind.

The same goes for car shopping later in the month. Sales quotas tend to sync up with the end of each calendar month, but it’s not always exact. Try to schedule your new car shopping for the 26th, 27th, or 28th of the month.

3. Take Advantage of Holiday Sales

This really is a no-brainer when it comes to shopping for any large purchase. Holidays periods throughout the year offer deeply discounted prices compared to other months — so take full advantage.

Some of the best holiday periods to keep in mind include:

• Memorial Day weekend: summer is an expensive time of year to buy a car, but prices are always discounted over the Memorial Day holiday

• Black Friday: car dealerships take part in the Black Friday sale craze just like any other retailer, and you can save big

• New Year’s Eve: it may seem like an odd time, but this is one of the best days of the year for car shopping as dealerships are facing monthly, quarterly, and yearly quotas and sales goals

• Labor Day weekend: this a great time to purchase a car based on car selection and competitive pricing

Bear in mind that end-of-year holidays and sales goals are also driven by annual bonuses. Naturally, salespeople want to meet their quotas so that they can receive their commission. This makes for the best chance of securing a great deal on your dream car.

4. Plan Your Shopping Based on Car Model Closeout

What is does it mean when a car is on closeout? Basically, this when a newer, updated model of the same car is being brought in, so older models are on closeout.

Car dealerships tend to have limited space when they receive their latest car models, and they need to move ”old” stock. This is another great time to get in a good car deal as older models need to be sold.

If you can hold out on buying the most up-to-date car model, purchase an older model instead and save yourself thousands of dollars.

But keep in mind that many car shoppers use this same strategy. Most manufacturers release new car models in the summer but don’t wait too long to make your move as older car models can sell out very quickly.

5. Consider the Car’s Design Cycle

Car models are constantly being updated. Some car models are also completely res-designed altogether. It may be a good time to shop for your car when the manufacturer is about to implement a completely new design cycle of the car.

You could save serious amounts of money on the outgoing design model as the stock needs to be sold. This is a great tip if you are more of a bargain hunter, and not too focused on being a trendsetter!

6. The Best Time of Year to Buy a Used Car

If you have your eye on a used car, October-December is the best time of year to consider buying second-hand.

These months tend to coincide with peak season and new-car buyers. This means that the number of trade-ins increases exponentially at car dealerships. Basically, you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to second-hand car options.

The greater number of trade-ins at a dealership also makes for better prices — especially if a dealership wants to meet its end-of-year quotas.

Now that you know more about the best time to purchase a car, you’ll know that you really shouldn’t rush into a car purchase. Holding out pays off in the long-run.

Becky Hill – The Art of Rave

Hot on the heels of her new single “Heaven On My Mind” breaking into the UK Official Charts Top 40, hit-making singer-songwriter Becky Hill releases the first episode of her podcast, The Art of Rave. Over the course of the series Becky discussed rave culture with some of its legendary pioneers, including Andy C, Roni Size, Pete Tong, Sister Bliss, Groove Armada, Fabio & Grooverider and more.

In episode one of The Art of Rave Becky and DJ Zinc cover a wide range of topics including: Pirate Radio, how technology has transformed the landscape, the evolution of drum ‘n’ bass and jungle, being a “human Shazaam,” the definition of a “golden era,” genre bending and hopping within the scene, and parenthood.

As with all Becky’s guests on The Art of Rave, DJ Zinc brings along three records that mean or say something to him, whether that’s because they’re by an artist that influenced him, remind him of a specific place or time, or feature a beat that defined his sound. These records are: “It Is What It Is” by Rhythm is Rhythm, “Terminator” by Goldie and “Jack Got Jacked” by AC Slater (Jack Beats remix).

Meanwhile, Becky selects the DJ Zinc record that exemplifies why she handpicked him as a guest for the series. “Creeper” (ft. Dynamite MC) is her “biggest and favourite” track of his, citing the life-changing moment she heard it blasting through her elder brother’s bedroom door, which sparked her long lasting love for drum n bass.

While Becky Hill has an irrefutable aptitude for writing chart smashing pop music, her roots are firmly ensconced in electronic music. The Art of Rave provides the perfect platform for Becky to delve deep into the dance music scene she is so passionate about.

Climate Crisis × COVID-19

In a new interview, Dr. Roland Kupers, author of A Climate Policy Revolution, discusses the ways the pandemic helps the Climate Crisis

During Covid-19, the world was able to see the impact a lockdown can have on our environment. Since quarantine, people no longer drove to work, school, nor any other locations. Despite the tragedies of the pandemic, one positive can be found in research showing that carbon monoxide levels were reduced by nearly 50%, compared to levels in the same period last year. In addition, emissions of the planet-heating gas CO2 also fell sharply.

Roland Kupers is an advisor on Complexity, Resilience and Energy Transition and the author of the book A Climate Policy Revolution – What the Science of Complexity Reveals about Saving Our Planet. Kupers and C.M. Rubin, founder of CMRubinWorld, discuss 10 ways the pandemic helped to fight the climate crisis.

From psychology we know that it takes 3-6 weeks for new tastes to remain. Our new pandemic habits of less travel, video meetings and valuing cleaner air just might stick,” says Kupers.

Dalai Lama –  Inner World

Today, Hitco Entertainment and Khandro Music released a unique album of mantras and teachings by The Dalai Lama set to music, entitled Inner World. Released to honor his 85th birthday celebrations on July 6th, 2020, the album is be a great dedication to the decades of his vision and work for world peace and educating the heart. When asked why he accepted the request to make the album, he answered, “The very purpose of my life is to serve as much as I can.” He also added, “Music can help people in a way that I can’t.”

Inner World is an offering of the Dalai Lama reciting mantras and giving short teachings all woven to a bed of music. The album has been released in conjunction with an Inner World companion booklet, revealing the benefits of the mantras written by Venerable Robina Courtin, and exclusive, stunning artwork; a collaboration between the acclaimed New Zealand duo of Ella Brewer (classically trained Thanka Painter) and Tiffany Singh (an award-winning visual artist). This particular work of theirs is a combination of traditional Tibetan and contemporary art.

In addition to the album’s release today, Inner World will be sharing an 85th Birthday Celebration for The Dalai Lama. This dedication will be live-streamed twice, at 9am IST (Delhi) and 5pm BST (London), and will be streamed on both the Inner World YouTube channel and Facebook page. The program will include longtime student and friend of The Dalai Lama, Richard Gere as well as other special guests, birthday messages, and musical performances, including one by Anoushka Shankar, who will debut a performance of Ama La, the track from the album that she features on.

The origins of Inner World began in 2015, when one of the project’s co-executive producers and a longtime student of The Dalai Lama, Junelle Kunin, wrote to him requesting his participation, by fervently explaining her feelings that an album by such a compassionate and wise being would help people particularly who struggle with emotional stress. After reading her letter, his response was enthusiastic, saying, “This will benefit many people!”. She and her husband Abraham Kunin, both from New Zealand, spent the next five years working with a small team to bring the project to life. The Dalai Lama’s recordings have been thread through music produced by Abraham and performed on thirty-plus instruments by himself and a cast of collaborators from around the world, including a special guest performance from Anoushka Shankar on “Ama La.” The composer integrated the live performances with artful programming and production, building a peaceful bedrock for these sacred offerings.

Net proceeds from the sales of Inner World will go to The Gaden Phodrang Foundation of the Dalai Lama (Switzerland) chosen program: Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning (SEE Learning), an international K-12 education program and part of an academic collaboration between Emory University and His Holiness; and Mind and Life Institute, which brings science & contemplative wisdom together to better understand the mind & create positive change in the world.
