Melii Releases “See Me”

Harlem-based singer/songwriter/rapper Melii has shared her new track See Me” and its accompanying video. Released via Rule#1/Interscope Records, “See Me” showcases the up-and-coming artist’s hypnotic delivery, bilingual vocal skills, and unapologetic lyrics.

With its video directed by Kristen White, “See Me” finds Melii bringing her signature raw honesty to a sparse and soulful R&B stunner. Set against a laid-back beat and slow-burning groove, the 20-year-old artist’s vocals shift from warm and vulnerable to hypnotically fierce, again proving her powerful charisma as a performer and songwriter.

“See Me” arrives on the heels of “Como Si Na,” an all-Spanish hip-hop ballad released in September. Hailed by Vibe as a “certified banger,” “Como Si Na” landed on a “5 Songs You Need to Listen to This Week” from TIME magazine (who noted that Melii is “just as comfortable flexing her attitude as a rapper and modulating her vocals with care, turning the track into an infectious display of her talent”).

Melii’s recent releases also include “La Envidia Mata,” that Rolling Stone praised a “sledgehammer of a single.”

Due out soon, Melii’s debut project Phases is a narrative-based exploration of her past, from the painful memories to the major triumphs that ultimately led to her breakout success. Since first gaining attention with her bilingual remix of Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” Melii has drawn acclaim for singles like “Icey (Spanish Remix)” (named “one of the year’s starkest rap hits” by Jon Caramanica of the New York Times). She’s alsoearned admiration from Billboard, who stated that “Every few years, a new artist emerges from Harlem, ready to take on the rap world…In 2018, that spotlight belongs to Melii.”

The award, now in its fourth year, brings together the finest classic cars in the world to compete for the title of most exceptional car. “My fellow co-founders and I created this award because of our shared passion for motorcars; a passion which I believe lives in many of us from a young age,” said The Hon. An esteemed judging panel

This year sees two new additions to the existing panel of 24 judges: Laurence Graff and Peter Marino.

Laurence Graff is said to have handled more rare and historic stones than any other diamantaire. One of his most recent acquisitions is the 1,109 carat Lesedi La Rona, the largest rough diamond discovered in more than a century, and a true miracle of nature. Since he founded the business in 1960, Graff has grown to become one of the pre-eminent jewellery houses in the world, and in June 2013 was awarded an OBE for his services to jewellery.

Peter Marino, FAIA, is the principal of Peter Marino Architect PLLC, the New York–based architecture firm founded in 1978. A ‘Palace’-certified venue

The big reveal will once again take place at The Peninsula Paris, on 7 February 2019. Last year’s winning Bugatti emerged from behind the doors of a 10 x 6-foot purpose-built box, illuminated by flashing halogen lights. Those lucky enough to attend this year’s announcement will once again be treated to a climatic reveal and in-person viewing – the content of dreams for automotive aficionados.

Jacquees Proclaims Himself “King Of R&B”

In a viral social media post last week, platinum-certified Atlanta singer Jacquees confidently crowned himself the “King of R&B”…

of His Generation.

He continually gives props to the genre forbearers and his formative inspirations such as JodeciK-Ci & JoJo, Jagged Edge, Michael Jackson, Boys II Men and more, but he’s holding it down for his era.

Clarifying his ambition, he went so far as to tell Vibe“It’s no disrespect to nobody because they’re all my friends, but I still wanna be number one. If we’re playing the game and I lose, I’ll be mad as hell, but I’m still a good person. I just want to win.

Now, this claim sparked an internet-wide debate, inciting responses by everyone from John Legend and R. Kelly to TankUsherTyrese, and countless others. As a result, the newly minted royal star dominated the conversation and headlines.

He backs up that claim with “Presidential”—the latest single from his collaborative album alongside Birdman, Lost At Sea 2, out now. The music video for “Presidential” lives up to its title as a regal display of high-class and high-level flash. It has already generated 1.5 million YouTube/VEVO views in addition to racking up 1 million-plus Spotify streams. Watch it HERE.

2018 closes as a banner year for Jacquees. Vibe described his full-length debut, 4275, as “glowing,” while its latest single “You” just eclipsed 10 million Spotify streams and 10 million YouTube/VEVO views. Not to mention, the album banger remains a Top 10 hit at Urban Radio. In November, he  took over the stage at the Soul Train Awards and delivered a show-stopping performance of “You” and the multiplatinum hit “B.E.D.” Check out a re-cap from OkayPlayer.

Jacquees is gearing up to release his new album at the top of 2019. Be on the lookout for more from ‘King Jacquees’

Miami Dolphin’s Kenyan Drake

Miami Dolphin‘s running back Kenyan Drake showed off his defense skills last night as he attempted to devour 5 lbs. of Smokey Bones’ signature dishes benefitting his charity of choice!

Fans crowded the Smokey Bones location in Plantation, FL, to meet the running back who scored the game-winning touchdown defeating the Patriots. Attempting to add Competitive Eater to his title, Kenyan Drake accepted Smokey Bone’s Charity 5 Pound Eating Contest challenge, which included 2.5 lb. Slab of House Smoked Baby Back Ribs, 1 lb. Smoked Pork Chop, ½ lb. Premium Burger and 1 lb. of freshly made donuts.

Kenyan Drake fasted all-day in preparation for the contest and started off strong but didn’t make it to halftime. However, for his participation, Smokey Bones donated $5,000 to his charity of choice— The Boys & Girls Club of Broward County “I chose to benefit The Boys & Girls of Broward County because it hits home. I grew up closely with the organization in Atlanta and they work to enable all young people, especially those in need, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens,” says Kenyan. Smokey Bones’ CEO, Ryan Esko along with a few children on behalf of the charity presented the check to Kenyan.

Become More Confident On Date

Many people confess that they always feel a bit weird when they go out for a date. This is only natural to be somewhat shy and not confident enough when going to send a romantic evening with a person you like or even have a crush on. However, when shyness prevents from going for dates at all, this should be addressed.

If you are so unconfident in yourself that you avoid communication with the opposite sex and therefore cannot manage to have a happy family, perhaps you should apply for assistance from the corresponding agencies. There are many reliable and respectable online services similar to CupidTrust marriage agency http://www.cupidtrust.com/ and others, that will help you find a date even without leaving your house. If you believe that you will manage on your own, it is time to become more confident.

Methods To Boost Your Confidence

When you have a date planned, take a serious approach and make sure you will not sabotage yourself when the X day comes. The closer the date, the more unconfident you may feel, so find a support team in the person of a friend or relative that will push your out of the house when the time comes.

However, you must take some steps before the date. Make sure you are healthy and feel fine; a runny nose is able to ruin your date. Think about the clothes you wear, including underwear and socks, even if you are far from having sex on the first date. Anything can happen, you can soak wet under rain and will have to take your shoes off, for example. Do not eat anything unusual before the date to avoid bloated stomach.

On the X day, take care of the following things:

  • your nails;
  • your hair;
  • your teeth;
  • your clothes;
  • your image (hairstyle/makeup);
  • positive mood.

If you do not feel really comfortable in this posh suit that you wear on important business meetings, do not put it on. You have to be comfortable in order to be confident. Try to organize a neutral date that will not demand to show off, like bowling or skating, where one can be unlucky and therefore unhappy with self. Going for a walk, to a cafe, and just talking is one of the best first dates the humanity has invented. Afterward, when you know each other better, and know the preferences and abilities of each other, you can do something more extreme together than drinking tea.

When on a date, try to talk less and listen more. This does not mean being silent and leave the business of entertaining your person to your crush. If you discuss the topic you both like, it is ok to talk a lot. However, try not to show off and tell how cool you are. If you apply this strategy to manage your unconfident self, you will most probably fail. So be more humble and better ask your date about themselves. You will know the person better, and will most probably impress them as brilliant interlocutor because you are attentive

New York Icon – Rammellzee

In honor of Rammellzee’s birthday, wanted to share this new documentary that will take you on a cosmic journey called, It’s Not Who But What.

Rammellzee was a legendary artist, graffiti writer, hip-hop pioneer, myth-maker, and a New York icon. It’s been eight years since the passing of Rammellzee, but his work continues to live on and it only seems appropriate to celebrate him. This Saturday, on December 15th Rammellzee would have turned 68 years old.

A revolutionary innovator and polymath ahead of his time, the famous artist rose to fame in the 1970’s with his electric skills and eccentric designs around “gothic futurism”. In the documentary viewers are brought to New York City’s subway, which was a source of inspiration and a canvas for Rammellzee’s graffiti work. The short film highlights his art and how he’s set the bar for future artists.

Let me know if interested in sharing the documentary in honor of Rammellzee’s birthday. Happy to provide assets as well.

5 Steps To Effective Conflict Resolution

Conflict resolution can be hard because we often fear that the other person won’t be open to what we have to say. We may think the other person doesn’t care about how we feel, or that they just don’t have the capacity to understand. This may cause us to try to force our perspective on others or avoid conflict resolution altogether. Whether you find that you engage in frequent arguments that leave you feeling frustrated and alone, or you tend to suffer in silence by avoiding conflict altogether, these conflict resolution tips may work for you.

1. CHECK IN WITH YOURSELF.

Take a moment to breathe and notice the feelings in your body and the thoughts that are passing through your mind. Do you feel vulnerable? Are you angry? Do you feel a sense of heaviness? Don’t judge yourself; simply take note.

2. THINK ABOUT YOUR GOALS.

What do you want to achieve from the conversation? What do you really want from the other person? Be solution oriented. If you want to make the other person feel bad, things probably won’t go so well. On the other hand, if you want the other person to understand you so that your relationship will be more harmonious, then you’re on your way to effective conflict resolution.

3. SHARE YOUR PERSPECTIVE.

Here is where things become technical. Now that you know how you feel and what you want, it is helpful to be thoughtful about how you express yourself. It’s common to assume that because you and another person share an experience, you will both feel the same way about it. However, because of our unique upbringings and experiences, we all view things a little differently. In order to let the other person know you are open to hearing their perspective, it is helpful to use “I messages.” (add link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-message) For example, instead of making a statement such as “you don’t care about me”, which could make the other person feel defensive, saying something such as “I felt like I didn’t matter to you when you didn’t call to check on me” lets the other person know how you interpreted their actions and gives them space to clarify their intentions.

4. USE NONJUDGMENTAL LANGUAGE

Think about what you find upsetting and describe it using descriptive, nonjudgmental language. For example, if you were offended because someone arrived late to a meeting, don’t say something like “You were inconsiderate or rude.” Try saying, “You were 15 minutes late, and it’s important that everyone arrive on time.”

5. CHECK IN WITH THE OTHER PERSON

Ask about how the other person experienced the situation. This gives the other person a chance to share his or her perspective, which may change your outlook. Continuing from the example above, in addition to saying , “You were 15 minutes late, and it’s important that everyone arrive on time,” you can check in with the other person by saying “Are you okay? Was there a reason you were late?”

While these steps seem simple, effective conflict resolution is a skill that takes time to develop. Incorporating these tips may feel difficult at times because they may trigger negative feelings that are rooted in the past. However, if you master these steps, you will find that your conversations will become more productive, and you will be well on the way to building stronger and more meaningful connections with others.
