ALICE LONGYU GAO REMIXES “MOVE IT TO THE SIDE”

John-Robert releases a new remix to stand out track “Move It To The Side” by Alice Longyu Gao, today via Warner Records. You can listen to the new remix HERE. You can watch the visualizer HERE.

A fan favorite, “Move It To The Side” was originally released earlier this year on John-Robert’s ‘Healthy Baby Boy, Pt 1’ EP. Alice’s “Softboy Dancing In the Klurb Flip” integrates elements of John-Robert’s alluring melancholy-melody with a jacked up tempo and her recognizable, exaggerated pop lyricism. The result is a track unique to Alice’s own personal and flamboyant style, as she serves up her second remixer credit to date. Alice’s new take on the track demonstrates her manifestation of a confident and care-free persona that doesn’t get wound up with anxieties and pressures of the modern dating scene and sees her flip the script on John-Robert’s original.

About the remix, John-Robert says, “As a musician it’s inspiring when you subconsciously have a formula for your writing process and then an artist comes along and breaks every one of those rules in a fresh and exciting way. I admire Alice because she’s a smart, self-assured badass, unapologetic with her production, lyrics, visuals, thoughts and art. I’m eternally grateful that she has blessed me with this version of ‘Move It To The Side.’”

Alice Longyu Gao adds, “I am usually the dumb bitch. It takes me a second to fancy someone and it takes me forever to stop trying to get them to like me. So I was really visioning myself being a bad gal in this remix—calling him the ‘emotional one,’ cuz I met a lot of heterosexual white bros who love to gaslight and guilt trip women, when in fact they are just too insecure to care. I am balling with my cash, having fun and ghost his text, visioning him being all upset. This remix is my revenge. I chopped John-Robert’s original vocals in a hard-core way so the remix shares a new perspective. Also, it won’t be an ‘Alice Longyu Gao’ piece of music if the beat doesn’t switch like 100 times. So yeah, this remix will drive you crazy on the dance floor.”

At age 16, John-Robert was invited out to Los Angeles by mega-producer Ricky Reed who’s described him as “a transcendent, once-in-a-generation singer and songwriter.” The now 20-year-old from Edinburg, VA who is signed to Reed’s Nice Life Recording Company and Warner Records continues to build-upon his budding musical career, most recently releasing his Healthy Baby Boy, Pt. 1 earlier this year. The songs on the EP illustrate real life coming of age stories and detail the challenges that come from leaving your support system in small town behind to chase your dreams. He’s collaborated with the likes of Alessia Cara, Zack Sekoff, Kathleen and Nate Merceau, and attracted industry praise from SPINAmerican SongwriterOnes To WatchIdolatorEARMILK and more.

As the only child from a conservative family, coming to America alone at the age of 17 was her chance, Alice Longyu Gao is a boundary pushing pop artist with a knack for making positive social change through her work. With co-signs from industry heavyweights like Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and Selena Gomez, as well as features in NME i-D, PAPER Magazine, Billboard, The FADER and V Magazine, Longyu Gao has gained recognition for her ability to blend hyper-energetic, avant-garde pop beats with interpretive, kaleidoscopic visuals. Beyond the music, Longyu Gao is a passionate activist for human rights with a longstanding track record of work supporting issues focusing on LGBTQ+ justice, eating disorder recovery, sustainability in fashion and food, and public-funded art education for underprivileged minority groups.

MAJOR LAZER × GUAYNAA – DIPLOMÀTICO

Major Lazer debut the music video for their new Spanish-language track “Diplomàtico,” featuring Latin music’s hottest rising superstar, Guaynaa–watch here. The single was released Thursday, March 4, across all digital streaming and retail platforms. In addition, the track will be featured on Music Is The Weapon (Reloaded), out March 26. The deluxe edition of the group’s latest album will feature four new tracks.

The music video, directed by Sam Sulam and filmed in Miami, FL is a comedic and cinematic masterpiece that will have fans laughing from beginning to end, the video truly captures the fun-loving personalities of Diplo, Walshy Fire, Ape Drums and of course, Guaynaa, in this hilarious story line. Filmed at the famous Gulfstream Park, the video follows the wild ride of what happens when a wealthy horse owner, portrayed by Walshy Fire, finds out that his premiere jockey, Diplo, is missing. He has no choice but to substitute his stable boy, Guaynaa to ride in the big race.

This year it’s been about exploring the different sides of myself and I’m enjoying it, creating different genres of music. This song is very different from what I have done recently. It is upbeat and fun. I think my fans are going to enjoy what Major Lazor and I crafted,” said Guaynaa.

Since exploding onto the scene with his global hit, “Rebota” in 2018, Puerto Rican artist Guaynaa has been an undeniable force in Latin music. The Latin GRAMMY nominated artist has captivated fans across the globe with his single “Se Te Nota,” alongside Lele Pons, which garnered more than 272 million views on its video. He also released a collaboration with Sebastian Yatra, “Chica Ideal,” who’s video accumulated over 134 million views. Plus, his collaboration with K-POP sensation Chung Ha on “Demente,” is the first time a K-POP star sings in Spanish. Lastly, his newest single and video “Monterrey” is available now on all streaming platforms.

It’s no secret that Major Lazer have been pioneers in bringing together the worlds of EDM and Latin music, their 2013 remix of their hit “Watch Out For This (Bumaye)” featuring Daddy Yankee became a global phenomenon and over the years the trio has followed up with incredible collaborations with the biggest names in Latin music such as J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and many more. On Friday, March 5, several of those memorable chart-topping Spanish-language tracks were bundled together with Diplomatico, available to stream collectively on Spotify.

Music Is The Weapon was released in October to critical acclaim. Coming five years after Peace Is The Mission and countless world tours, the album highlights the group’s thoroughly global approach. Music Is The Weapon includes songs in five languages and features collaborations with stars from around the globe including Nicki Minaj, J Balvin, Marcus Mumford, Khalid, Alessia Cara, Skip Marley, longtime collaborators Anitta and Busy Signal, New York-born Chilean artist Paloma Mami, Jamaican rising stars Sheensea and BEAM, Indian breakouts Nucleya and Rashmeet Kaur, and more.

Major Lazer is the global dance trio of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Ape Drums. Named for the group’s fictional figurehead, a one-armed Jamaican Zombie War commando, Major Lazer’s mission is to free the universe with music. The band has released three acclaimed albums, 2009’s Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do, 2013’s Free The Universe and 2015’s Peace Is The Mission, featuring “Lean On” with DJ Snake and MØ—one of the most successful songs of all time.

Alessia Cara – This Summer: Live Off The Floor

Grammy Award®-winning singer-songwriter Alessia Cara gives fans around the world an intimate look into her creative process and the live evolution of her deeply personal songs with the release of her new EP, THIS SUMMER: LIVE OFF THE FLOOR, available at all platforms today via Def Jam Recordings. Each song on the live EP will be accompanied by a new music video, shot in the studio where they recorded the EP.

Alessia also recently announced she will be donating her share of net royalties to Save the Children for the next 21 years. She explained her decision further on this Instagram post: “I put out an EP last September and shortly after recorded a live off the floor version, which was set to come out this summer. Then the world flipped upside down, so I decided to donate all my proceeds from this EP for the next 21 years to ‘Save the Children’, a global organization that saves and improves the lives of children who have been denied their rights by ensuring they have shelter, food, protection, healthcare, and education. This includes the 12 million kids currently suffering in Yemen, Indigenous children in Canada, children of colour in vulnerable communities, and anyone who needs help across 117 countries.

Recent events have made it even more evident that we need to uplift and care for the youth as much as possible. There are so many kind, colourful, intelligent, and driven kids who don’t have access to the resources they need in order to become the best future leaders or simply live a life they deserve. We won’t see a better world unless the ones who can one day change it are equipped to fulfill their true potential. Thanks to my team for getting on board, and to the wonderful musicians who played on this record. Hope this will be a bit of light in a (for lack of a descriptive enough term) weird time. Love, Alessia”

THIS SUMMER: LIVE OFF THE FLOOR presents newly recorded live performance versions of all six songs from the original This Summer EP. Recorded in a live floor studio session with a group of masterful players, including lush string arrangements,  LIVE OFF THE FLOOR will include bonus live versions of Alessia’s landmark global hits “Here,” her triple platinum debut single, and “Scars To Your Beautiful,” her double platinum hit. Last year, Alessia thrilled fans touring her headlining show and accompanying Shawn Mendes on his world tour, and her September EP release This Summer chronicled her experiences as only Alessia could: with depth, emotion, introspection, and the wicked wit her fans have grown to love.

Most recently, Alessia performed “Rooting For You” at this year’s Juno Awards where she was the biggest winner of the night taking home Album of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

April 22nd marked the premiere of the #1 Netflix animated feature The Willoughbys, in which Alessia (in her first voice-over acting role) joined an all-star cast including Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Terry Crews, Martin Short, Jane Krakowski, Sean Cullen, and Ricky Gervais.

2018’s “Best New Artist” Grammy Award Winning Canadian singer/songwriter and Def Jam Recordings artist Alessia Cara emerged onto the music scene in 2015 with her first release, “Here,” a global anthem that grabbed the world’s attention when it garnered over 500,000 streams on Soundcloud in its first week.  “Here” went on to become Spotify’s Most Viral Song of 2015, selling over 3 million copies.  Her five-track EP, Four Pink Walls, soon followed, leading to the release of her RIAA platinum debut album KNOW-IT-ALL (November 2015). Alessia’s multi-platinum #1 hit single of 2016, “Scars to Your Beautiful,” was her gut-wrenching take on female identity, on body image and on deleterious behaviors in the name of beauty.  “Stay” her #1 hit with Zedd sold over 2 million copies and received Song Of The Summer raves. Also in 2016, Alessia lent her voice to “How Far I’ll Go,” penned by Lin-Manuel Miranda, official song for Disney’s animated film Moana.  The 4x-platinum “1-800-273- 8255,” her historic collaboration with fellow Def Jam artist Logic, was one of 2017’s landmark singles with over 9 billion streams worldwide, contributing to her being named the most-streamed new female artist of 2017.  “Growing Pains” (June 2018), was the prelude to Alessia’s second album, her critically acclaimed THE PAINS OF GROWING (released in November), which included the follow-up single releases “Trust My Lonely” and “Out Of Love.”

A JUNO award winner for 2016 Breakthrough Artist of the Year in her native Canada, Alessia went on to receive the “Rule Breaker” honor at the Billboard Women in Music annual event.  She won MTV VMAs in 2017 for Best Electronic Dance Video (for “Stay”) and Best Fight Against The System (for her multi-platinum #1 Billboard Pop Song “Scars To Your Beautiful,” which she and Logic performed with Khalid as the climactic moment of that year’s Grammy broadcast).  Alessia also won back-to-back ASCAP Pop Awards for “Stay” and “Scars To Your Beautiful”; along with Dance Song of the Year (for “Stay”) at the iHeart Radio Music Awards. She has earned nominations for Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock at the 2017 American Music Awards, the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Breakout Artist, the Billboard Music Award for Top New Artist, the BET Award for Best New Artist, the BBC Award for Song of The Year, and many other top honors. Most recently, Alessia won Album of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year at the 2020 Virtual Juno Awards.

Logic – No Pressure

Grammy®-nominated, multi-platinum artist Logic gets back to the roots of his craft with the completion of his new album, NO PRESSURE, set to arrive at all DSPs on July 24th via Def Jam Recordings/Visionary Music Group.

After six years of major career accomplishments, including four #1 albums, NO PRESSURE finds Logic back in the studio with renowned producer No I.D., who produced Logic’s groundbreaking RIAA gold debut album of 2014, Under Pressure. Working again with No I.D., and 6IX, NO PRESSURE is the full circle career moment for Logic, making the music he loves with ‘no pressure.’

Prior to NO PRESSURE, the ever-prolific Logic released five albums: Under Pressure (2014); The Incredible True Story (#1 chart debut in 2015); Everybody (#1 chart debut in 2017;  YSIV (#1 chart debut in 2018); and Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind (#1 chart debut in 2019). His Bobby Tarantino II mixtape entered at #1 in 2018.

In March 2019, “Supermarket,” the dazzling debut novel by Bobby Hall (aka Logic), entered the New York Times Paperback Fiction list at #1, making him the first-ever hip-hop MC to author a New York Times fiction bestseller.  Logic’s accompanying Supermarket “soundtrack” album was simultaneously released via Def Jam/Visionary. The album’s Top 10 debut on the Billboard Alternative Album chart was an ‘Alt’ chart first for Logic.

Logic’s most recent Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind Tour, presented by Live Nation in October-November 2019, was a 26-city tour of the U.S. and Canada.  He was joined on most dates by special guests J.I.D. and Confessions collaborator YBN Cordae.

Multi-platinum, Grammy Nominated artist Logic (aka Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, aka Bobby Hall) – among the top streaming artists in the world with billions of streams to date – burst onto the music scene through a series of mixtapes that led to a significant, rabid underground fan base. Those tapes – Young, Broke, and Infamous (2010); Young Sinatra (2011); Young Sinatra: Undeniable (2012); and Young Sinatra: Welcome to Forever (2013) – garnered millions of downloads and streams. They jump started a worldwide tour that led up to his record deal with Def Jam Recordings in 2014, and the release of his debut album Under Pressure that year.  Logic kept up the pace with his second album, The Incredible True Story (2015, with the RIAA gold “Fade Away”), followed by Everybody (2017), containing the landmark 5x-platinum “1-800-273-8255” (National Suicide Prevention Lifeline) featuring Alessia Cara and Khalid.

Overlapping Logic’s albums were new mixtapes Bobby Tarantino (2016, with the RIAA gold single “Flexicution”), and Bobby Tarantino II (2018, with the RIAA platinum “44 More” and “Everyday”). YSIV (September 2018), the fourth chapter of his Young Sinatra saga, contained “One Day” which Logic performed with Ryan Tedder and over 200 immigrant children, their siblings and parents at the MTV VMAs. 2019 kicked off with the publication in March of Supermarket (Simon & Schuster), the debut novel written by Bobby Hall, which entered the New York Times Paperback Fiction bestseller list at #1 – first-ever for a hip-hop artist. It was accompanied by the Supermarket “soundtrack” album, which debuted inside the Top 10 on the Billboard Alternative Album chart, an ‘Alt’ chart first for Logic. The prolific artist dropped his fifth studio album in May 2019, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind.  It was preceded by the title tune single and video, “Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind,” and RIAA platinum “Homicide” featuring Eminem.

Alessia Cara × Bastille

Alessia Cara is featured on Bastille’s new version of “Another Place,” and in the accompanying video, which was also released today. The song – a tender look at a fleeting encounter – originally appeared on the band’s new album, Doom Days (Virgin Records). Download “Another Place” ft. Alessia Cara HERE. View the video HERE.

“I’d always heard ‘Another Place’ as a duet and wanted it to be a story told from two perspectives. It’s not something we’ve ever done, outside of our mixtapes, but we are huge fans of Alessia’s – her voice and her songwriting are so distinct and brilliant – and we sent it to her to see if she’d be up for jumping on it with us,” explains Bastille frontman Dan Smith.

Smith continues, “We love her verse and everything that she’s brought to the song – I think she really elevates it. We all got to spend some time together in her home town of Toronto recently, where she joined us on stage to sing ‘Another Place’ together for the first time, and where we shot the surrealist video for the song. It’s been really great to bring a new voice into the Doom Days universe, and we’re so happy that Alessia was up for coming along with us for it.”

Alessia Cara says, “I’ve been a Bastille fan since their early stuff so doing this song with them was genuinely so exciting. I met Dan last year and we got on really well. We talked about doing something together and he sent me the song a little while later. I loved the concept and thought it was both sonically and lyrically really great, as all Bastille stuff is. It all came together pretty naturally, and I can’t wait for people to hear it.”

The GRAMMY®-nominated, BRIT-winning band recently appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” performing “Bad Decisions” – another song from Doom Days. View HERE.

Available everywhere, Doom Days takes listeners on a big night out in search of distraction from the surrounding apocalypse. It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Album Sales chart and in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200.

Lead single “Quarter Past Midnight” is Bastille’s third single to hit No. 1 on the Mediabase Alternative chart. “Joy,” the follow-up, has amassed more than 70 million combined streams globally. In a four-star review, NME said, ‘Doom Days’ is a vivid snapshot of humanity and an imaginative, adventurous levelling up from one of Britain’s most influential bands. If the end times are coming, you could do a whole lot worse than taking its lead and gathering up all your friends, pressing play and partying like it’s 1999.”

Hailed by Rolling Stone as “Britpop’s new crown princes,” Bastille has sold over eight million adjusted albums and amassed more than 11 billion cumulative streams globally. The band was introduced internationally with the single “Pompeii,” which is now 6x Platinum in the U.S. alone. Marshmello and Bastille’s hit single, “Happier,” has topped charts around the world, with cumulative streams exceeding 3.5 billion. It is certified 5x Platinum in the U.S. and has sold more than 15 million units in the rest of the world. “Happier” held the No. 1 position for three consecutive weeks on Billboard’s BDS and Media base/Top 40 Radio Airplay chart. “Stay,” her #1 hit with Zedd, sold over 2 million copies and received Song Of The Summer raves. Also in 2016, Alessia lent her voice to “How Far I’ll Go,” penned by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the official song for Disney’s animated film Moana. The 4x-platinum “1-800-273-8255,” her historic collaboration with fellow Def Jam artist Logic, was one of 2017’s landmark singles with over 4 billion streams worldwide, contributing to her being named the most-streamed new female artist of 2017.  “Growing Pains” (June 2018) was the prelude to Alessia’s second album, her critically acclaimed THE PAINS OF GROWING (released in November), which included the follow-up single releases “Trust My Lonely” and “Out Of Love.”

Most recently Alessia was nominated for two Latin GRAMMY Awards for Record and Song of the year for “Querer Mejor.”
