Reebok

Reebok’s PureMove Bra Debuts Brand’s Proprietary Motion Sense Technology, Providing Customized Support and Control

Reebok made waves in the sports bra industry today with the unveiling of the Reebok PureMove Bra: a first of its kind, technologically advanced sports bra that uniquely responds and adapts to movement to provide women with a customized amount of control and support, exactly where and when they need it.

For too long, consumer insights have identified frustrated female consumers who feel unsatisfied with their sports bra options, raising flags with alarming stats including one in five women are still avoiding exercise because they don’t have the right sports bra. Determined to change the status quo, Reebok embarked on a journey three years ago with one clear mission: change industry standards for the sports bra and reset the bar. Now, just over forty years after the first sports bra came to market, Reebok is proud to debut a first of its kind product featuring the brand’s new proprietary Motion Sense Technology.

Reebok’s Motion Sense Technology is the result of treating a performance-based fabric with STF (Sheer Thickening Fluid) – a gel-like solution that takes a liquid form when in a still or slow-moving state and contrastingly stiffens and solidifies when moving at higher velocities. This fabric technology adapts and responds accordingly to the body’s shape, velocity of breast tissue, and both type and force of movement. The end result gives wearers a bra that stretches less with high impact movements, while providing the comfort and light support that one would desire during rest and lower intensity activities. To learn more on PureMove’s development click here.

“We could not be prouder to come to market with a product that breaks down barriers in a category that has dissatisfied consumers for far too long, lacking any true technological advancements. Innovation has always been in Reebok’s DNA and placing an emphasis on transforming and improving one of the most important fitness garments for women is no exception,” says Barbara Ebersberger, VP Performance Apparel at Reebok. “The release of PureMove marks the first step of a very exciting new era for us.”

Integral in PureMove’s three-year development process, was Reebok’s work in the lab, testing breast movement and product variations with the University of Delaware. Here, the two joined forces and upped the ante on industry standards for breast biomechanics that would inform both PureMove’s final design and Reebok’s full sports bra collections for FW18 and beyond. Until now, industry standards for breast biomechanic testing typically included an average of only two to four motion sensors on the chest area to track bounce and support, but Reebok and the University of Delaware utilized 54 unique motion sensors on this area during its rigorous testing process and used this data to ensure every detail was covered and accounted for in PureMove’s development.

The end result is a second-skin like design that creates a barely-there feel. Key performance features of the PureMove Bra in addition to the reactive fabric technology include:

Breathable Perforations: Perforations in front and back to keep you cool and comfortable, no matter the physical activity.

Natural Shaping: Molded front panel and free cut edges for a minimalistic, second-skin fit so you can move freely without distractions.

Minimalist Construction: Comprised of only 7 unique pieces of fabric that mold to the body for a seamless fit.

“Many would assume that the more support a sports bra gives would equate to the more fabric, straps or hooks it’s comprised of. However, by utilizing our Motion Sense Technology, PureMove’s design is quite deliberately the opposite,” says Danielle Witek, Senior Innovation Apparel Designer at Reebok. “The minimalist design of the bra may seem deceiving when you first hold it, but you should not confuse this for lack of support or technology. Every single detail is intentional and directly informed by years of our testing and research.”

At launch, the PureMove Bra will be available in an extended range of 10 unique sizes, aimed to specifically address consumer feedback around the industry’s lack of solutions for those who find themselves in between standard sports bra sizing, The PureMove Bra debut size range includes: XS, XS/S, S, S/M, M, M/L, L, L/XL, XL, XL/XXL, designed to help ensure a more tailored fit for wearers.

To celebrate one of Reebok’s most anticipated product launches in 2018, the PureMove Bra is brought to life through powerful campaign imagery featuring a team of Reebok’s most formidable female partners including Gal Gadot, Gigi Hadid and Nathalie Emmanuel.

The Reebok PureMove Bra will be available exclusively on Reebok.com starting August 17th for $60. Followed by worldwide-distribution in key retailers starting August 30th. Additional sports bras from Reebok’s FW18 Hero Bra collection are available today at Reebok.com/HeroBraCollection.

YELLOW CLAW × ECHOSTAGE DC

DO YOU LIKE BASS?

By Diana Macaraeg × Vaughn Lowery

(Featured photo by Harley Lunar)

On Friday night, DC’s Echostage presented EDM’s favorite Dutch DJ duo Yellow Claw (consisting of Jim Taihuttu and Nils Rondhuis), along with GRLZ, Boogie T, and Moksi. Ranked at #1 in DJ Magazine’s USA list of nightclubs, Echostage proved that it had no troubles selling out tickets with line down a block of crazed fans in rave attire and Yellow Claw gear.

GRLZ, Boogie T, and Moksi filled the two story venue with high energy, bass dropping beats that perfectly transitioned into Yellow Claw’s set.

Yellow Claw had started off with their signature intro song “Untouchable,” with its lyrics shown on the screen demanding the crowds attention. Their set included songs from their latest album New Blood, with a mix of their label Barong Family hits and previous collaborations from artists like Pusha T, DJ Snake, Lil Debbie, Sophie Simmons, Yade Lauren and many more. During the set, they were joined by one of their label artists and earlier performers, Moksi to perform their iconic Moksi Switch Up remixes.

After their performance, the crowd chanted their famous tagline, “Yellow Mother F***** Claw!” and they gladly returned to the stage playing an extra 10 minutes, along with giving their fans a special treat of playing their 2013 major hit, “DJ Turn it Up.”

Being a super fan/Yellow Claw Soldier since 2013, every concert, every mixtape, every album, every collaboration, every piece of merchandise, every documentary, Yellow Claw never ceases to amaze me. Being able to watch them live is to the only way to bow down to The Party Gods. #YMFC

Yellow Claws tour continues worldwide, and check out their latest music video, “Down on Love” ft. Yade Lauren & Moksi here.

DMV RAPPER Q DA FOOL DROPS ‘100 KEYS’

Just recently, the 21-year old DMV rapper Q Da Fool debuts his music project 100 Keys.

This is something all his fans were waiting for and now it’s finally here!

Just see below how the world has reacted so far since the release:

“The lyrics and the emotion of a song don’t necessarily have to flow in parallel. Listen to the twinkle-and-snap of his new Zay-produced single, “The Plug,” and you’ll hear Q mood-swing his way through the hook, going from boastful, to exasperated, to incredulous, and back around again. If it sounds like he’s scowling and smiling at the same time, he might be.” – The Washington Post

“Fool’s rise may seem out-of-nowhere to many, but the record deal and respect from peers is a vision he started to realise back when he was first gearing up to drop Trap Fever in 2015, even if he didn’t see it exactly panning out the way it has.” Noisey

Fresh off of the recent Roc Nation signing announcement, a slew of new releases, and a popular attraction of the press, the Maryland rapper is ready to take storm.

The rapper’s 100 Keys music project is his first official release on a major label. With Grammy Award-winning hit-maker Zaytoven handling the project’s production, Q takes you on a 10-track personal journey that encapsulates DMV life, personal struggle, and resilient redemption.

Much like the punchy, charged up trap song itself, “The Plug,” it is a visual testament to Q’s character. In “Normal Rapper,” Q brings a much appreciated unique flow into this story where he explains why he’s different from his current rap counterparts.

Bonita” staples Q’s presence as a lyrical threat, discussing the importance of friendship and what lengths Q would go to in order to protect the ones he loves. Q also depicts his savage lifestyle in “Fuck up the Mall,” with personal stories of his family fueling the rap fire and cementing Q as a modern lyrical force.

This is only the start for the Maryland rapper. This project will surely elevate Q Da Fool to new heights, and bring him the recognition he deserves.

Check out his new song here!

If you don’t know much about this all-star rapper, here are just a few facts to fuel your brain:

Through his grind, Q Da Fool continues to prove that he is true to both the game and his word.

Doctor Tries Fasting Trend

Real Doctor Tries the Intermittent Fasting Trend and Here’s What Happened http://tourocom.touro.edu/academics/faculty/harlem/niket-sonpal.php

There’s crash dieting, and then there’s intermittent fasting. Crash diets aren’t sustainable and rarely factor in healthy food options. Intermittent fasting on the other hand is gaining attention because people are seeing weight come off, and therefore stay with it. It’s being touted as the go-to way to lose 15, 20 pounds within a month or two. Is it just a popular hashtag or can the weight actually stay off leading millions of people to reach their weight goals? To get clarity, we spoke to Dr. Niket Sonpal who not only is Board Certified in Internal Medicine specializing in Gastroenterology; but lost 8 pounds his first week of intermittent fasting when he decided to do it himself. Here’s what he has to say about intermittent fasting.

What inspired your decision to do intermittent fasting?

I noticed the winter weight became the spring then summer weight and I wanted to take off extra pounds that I noticed had crept on. I was with friends talking about how they lost weight during Ramadan (would prefer religious observations) and that intermittent fasting was a “thing.” I rolled my eyes. I was skeptical. Then I went online and applied my doctor mind to the concepts I was reading about it and went for it.

There are several ways to go about intermittent fasting. Which way did you do it, when did you start and what was the result?

This is true. The way I chose, and the way I would imagine most people would try, is the one that calls for 16 hours of fasting with 8 hours of eating time per day. This basically means if your last meal of the day is 8pm you will have your first meal by noon the following day, free to eat until 8pm again. I figured since I sleep most of those hours, it wouldn’t be as tough as another option where you fast for 5 days and eat for 2 with a 500-800 calorie intake limit on those 2 days.

What were the challenges (if any) that you faced when intermittent fasting?

I live across the street from a bagel shop in New York City. I also have delicious New York pizza on every other corner. Cravings and temptation were there for me for sure. When I left my home and smelled those fresh bagels my brain said. “let’s eat.”

Coming at your intermittent fasting as a doctor, what were some things you were thinking about that others must consider too?

I thought when I would fast. When would be my 8-hour eating period. When we start caloric consumption right when we wake up we do better with weight loss. However, that would mean eating from 7 am until 4pm. This would require a later meal around 3pm. Then I thought, does my lifestyle better allow a 12 noon to 8pm food window?

I also thought about the physiological aspect to what happens to our bodies when we fast intermittently. For one thing, it facilitates weight loss by enhancing hormone function. Insulin levels also lower, plus there’s a rise in noradrenaline. This combination is what helps us to breakdown body fat for energy. While this all reads well on paper there is a lifestyle aspect to it that must be factored in. I’ll add that anyone with a condition should consult with their doctor before going all in on intermittent fasting.

Why do you think it is so difficult for people to fast? What are some of the common symptoms people feel when fasting and what causes them?

When people think of fasting they think of starvation and deprivation. They anticipate they will feel terrible will have a growling stomach, dull headaches, and a bad mood. While these are common symptoms felt at first when fasting, the 16/8 intermittent fasting option allows for food every day. When people see quick results, they stick with it.

What was your diet? What did you cut out and add in?

I looked at my schedule and my overall daily lifestyle and how food was involved. For people who live very hurried lifestyles, food is typically something that is grabbed fast on the go. When we approach food this way no diet will be sustainable. I realized this would require consistent changes in my behavior. It would also require me to get very mindful about what I was eating during the 8 hours of eating time. I chose to eat what I liked in moderation. So, if two slices of pizza twice per week was the lunchtime norm, I reduced to it to once slice. I still ate pasta just not as often and not as much. I also added in a lot more vegetables, proteins, healthy fats and cut out all fast food and soda. Hey, I’m a doctor, but also a human!

For those thinking about intermittent fasting, how would you advise them to proceed?

I would explain that at around the 2 to 4-week mark, someone may plateau. When you notice this don’t think this is the most weight you are able to lose. This is normal and if you are also exercising with weight or resistance training you may be building muscle mass. Pay attention to how clothes fit, body fat loss and how weight loss shows beyond the scale. Knowing how over time the body gets used to intermittent fasting and starts to store up all that is eaten, leading to less weight loss, I suggest resetting your body by eating small, healthy meals throughout the day for a week and then resuming the 16/8 intermittent fasting option again.

People may happily think that they can fast and then enjoy a big bowl of pasta or cheeseburger. What kinds of foods should people eat during intermittent fasting?

You can get results without cutting out your favorite foods which means enjoy that burger or pasta, I did! However, you can’t binge on fast food and think you’re going to make any lasting changes. You want to up your vegetable intake. Things like grilled zucchini or eggplant make for great sides to a piece of grilled chicken or steak. Avocados are a good staple for healthy fats and are versatile. There are loads of recipes out there so plan out your food options in advance, so you stick with it.
