6 Trips to Broaden Your Kids’ Minds This Summer

Now that school’s out for summer, enroll the whole family in a crash course on nature and wildlife with Natural Habitat Adventures

Summer vacation may mean “no more pencils and no more books,” but it can also be a great opportunity for the whole family to learn something new together. Natural Habitat Adventures, the world leader in eco-friendly wildlife-focused expeditions around the globe, offers nature-centric trips designed to get explorers of all ages trading their tablets and phones for GoPros and binoculars. From sailing “Darwin’s Laboratory” in the Galapagos on a private ship to taking moonlit treks through the jungles of Costa Rica, Nat Hab’s family adventure trips are designed around conservation, curiosity and quality time – all disguised as a vacation.

Expand your family’s horizons with these summer experiences:

1. Go exploring in “Darwin’s Laboratory”

Come face-to-face with an outstanding array of wildlife, including sea lions, marine iguanas and giant tortoises on Nat Hab’s 10-day Family Galapagos Adventure. Made famous by evolutionary theorist Charles Darwin, the Galapagos archipelago is the very best place for young explorers to learn about evolution, natural selection and how animals adapt to micro-environments. Sail aboard the National Geographic Islander, a family-friendly ship with a specialty research- and adventure-focused kids’ program on board. Record wildlife sightings in your field notebook, listen for underwater life via the ship’s hydrophone and stretch out in special family cabins designed to sleep up to three. Off-ship, don a wetsuit for snorkeling, paddleboarding and Zodiac adventures with your naturalist Expedition Leader, where you can come mask-to-nose with penguins, turtles and seals.

Stretch out in an unfenced luxury tented camp set in the middle of a Maasai Mara private conservancy, and go for guided walks under a sprawling blue sky while keeping your eyes peeled for zebra, hippo and elephant. See the secret lives of Lamar Valley wolves using a high-powered spotting scope and talk fire ecology—how nature recovers from the ravages of wildfires—with your guide. In an extraordinary natural setting selected for conservation by President Teddy Roosevelt in 1872, guests can engage in enlightening conversations about how hunting along Yellowstone’s perimeter affects the ecosystem inside the park, and why competing political interests threaten the park’s apex predators even to this day.

One Hour Translation: Google Wins the Battle of Real Time Voice Translators

OHT used expert in-house linguists to compare the performance of Skype Translator, Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri in translating business and tourism expressions from English into Japanese, French, German and Spanish and vice versa

On average across languages, Google scored the highest – 4.54 out of 6, Skype second (4.32) and Siri third (4.09). Google was the best in Japanese (4.01), German (4.5) and Spanish (4.8), while Siri led in French (4.87)

Google Assistant is the top performing real time voice translator, according to a benchmark conducted by One Hour Translation (OHT), an online platform which provides translations in more than 100 languages and 3,000 language pairs.

With demand for real time voice translation on the rise, OHT decided to test out the leading services: Skype Translator (run by Microsoft Translate), Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri, and rank them for accuracy.

With the help of expert in-house linguists OHT took 16 business and 10 tourism expressions and translated them from English into Japanese, French, German and Spanish and vice versa. The same sentences were then given to real time voice translator devices, apps and digital assistants to see just how they performed. The results were rated by the linguists on a scale of 0 to 6.

On average across languages, Google scored the highest – 4.54 out of 6, Skype second (4.32) and Siri third (4.09). Google was the best in three out of the four languages – Japanese (4.01), German (4.5) and Spanish (4.8), while Siri led in French (4.87).  Overall Japanese was the hardest language to translate with an average score of 3.7.  French was the easiest language for the instant voice translator devices to translate with an average of 4.75, followed by Spanish (4.54) and German (4.41).

“The real time voice translators were more accurate in translating tourism related experssions in comparison to business expressions” said Yaron Kaufman, chief marketing officer and co-founder of OHT. He attributed this to the use of a lot of business-related abbreviations which are not easily recognized by real time voice devices. Kaufman added that “despite the recent improvements in all of the assistants we tested, real time voice translations still cannot be relied on for business related content.”

Some examples of the sentences: “Stay on budget for this campaign, we can’t have it affecting our ROI”; “R&D are cutting too many corners, the product is undeployable”;  “Schedule a meeting between your CMO and our product manager”; “Do you have any allergies? This dish contains peanuts and avocado”; “I need to find the fastest way to the airport, my plane is leaving soon”; “My travel insurance should cover that bill.”

There are also new developments on the horizon in the field of real time voice translation. Among other advancements, Amazon is planning to release a DIY toolkit for creating translation apps and Xiaomi has released a new and advanced physical device for real time translations.

ATHEN JOINS AIR ITALY NETWORK

Athens joins Air Italy network thanks to new agreement with Aegean Airlines

Air Italy US passengers can reach Athens via seamless connection in Malpensa. Athens easily reachable via Milan for Air Italy customers from central and southern Italy

Starting from today, Air Italy has added Athens as a new destination to its network, thanks to the signing of a new Special Prorate Agreement with Aegean Airlines.

Air Italy passengers travelling from our four US destinations – Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and New York – and from Toronto can now easily reach the Greek capital via Air Italy’s Milan Malpensa hub, continuing with flights directly to Athens on Aegean Airlines.

In addition, all Air Italy customers departing from the main airports of central and southern Italy, such as Rome, Naples, Palermo, Catania, Lamezia Terme, Cagliari and Olbia will now have the opportunity to fly Athens via Malpensa.

Rossen Dimitrov, Air Italy’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “This partnership between Air Italy and Aegean Airlines offers significant new travel opportunities for the passengers of both carriers, adding a wide range of options and attractive destinations to both airlines.

“With a large Greek expatriate population in the United States and many Greeks wanting to access our Italian and US destinations, I’m confident this new SPA will bring many benefits to both carriers as well as countless passengers of both airlines.

“We are very proud to welcome the passengers of Aegean, traveling from Athens, on board our Air Italy flights, connecting via Malpensa to Rome, Naples, Catania, Palermo, Lamezia Terme, Cagliari and Olbia, to discover the best of our “Bel Paese”.”

“And we are just as pleased to host them on our new intercontinental flights, where they can experience the extreme comfort of our long-haul Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with our new service for both Business and Economy Class.”

Business Class customers on board the new Air Italy intercontinental flights can enjoy Air Italy’s completely new on-board business product, that was revealed just this spring on the first Milan-Los Angeles flight.

Featuring an entirely new tableware, in-flight dining menus, cutlery and chinaware that have all been specially crafted to meet travellers’ expectations, Air Italy’s Business Class passengers will also enjoy an even more elevated experience thanks to the introduction of a dining-on-demand service.

“Complementing our new product, we have our new dine-on-demand service, meaning our Business Class customers can select from our extensive à la carte menu at any time, and in any order, to create their own unique dining experience – all of which delivers yet again on our brand promise as we help our customers to – Imagine The World Differently,” added Mr Dimitrov.

Air Italy’s customers can also take advantage of the Wi-Fi service, an extensive inflight entertainment service and the personalized attention of the on-board staff.

bülow Releases “Get Stupid” Music Video

Award winning and multi-platinum pop iconoclast bülow has released a music video for her new single, “Get Stupid,” today via Wax Records /Republic Records/Universal Music Canada.

Watch the video for “Get Stupid” HERE.

The track is off the JUNO Award winner’s latest EP Crystalline released earlier this year and was produced by Mike Wise, who produced several songs on the EP. When discussing the accompanying video for the song whose concept was envisioned by the singer herself, bülow commented, “When I was younger, I wanted to be an inventor, to create things. I think everybody strives for the feeling of self importance, trying to find their ways to be remembered. My character created a flying device, it didn’t work out, but that wasn’t the end.”

The German-born Toronto-based artist, who made a name for herself with the smash hit, “Not A Love Song,” is set to take the stage at multiple festivals this summer including the iconic Lollapalooza in Chicago and Osheaga in Montreal, Canada. This summer’s festival run follows bülow’s SXSW,  Bonnaroo and Bunbury Music Festival debuts earlier this year. In addition to finding success through her own musical endeavors bülow appears on the GRAMMY Award winning duo The Chainsmokers latest single, “Do You Mean,” and performed the track on The Today Show in New York City’s famed Rockefeller Plaza in June of this year. And while bülow’s summer is packed with festival performances, the singer-songwriter has no plans of stopping as she’ll be re-joining Lauv’s tour this fall after supporting the singers tour dates in Asia earlier this year.

Megan Thee Stallion x Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The third season of “Revenge Body with Khloé Kardashian” features a new group of men and women finding the strength to prove to themselves, and those who have been negative forces in their lives, that they’re worthy of love and respect.  With the guidance of model, TV personality, mom, and author of the New York Times bestselling book “Strong Looks Better Naked,” Khloé Kardashian, joined by her premier group of health, beauty, and style experts, will give these individuals the encouragement they need and the help they desire to become better versions of themselves, for themselves.

This season, audiences will once again take a powerful journey alongside participants as they turn their pain into empowerment through their emotional and physical transformations.  With the help of Khloé and their devoted trainers, participants’ uplifting stories will highlight their struggle, resilience, and ultimate redemption.  Returning this season are celebrity trainers Ashley Borden, Corey Calliet, Simone De La Rue, Luke Milton, Latreal Mitchell, Harley Pasternak, Gunnar Peterson, and Nicole Winhoffer, together with new celebrity trainers Leyon Azubuike and Autumn Calabrese.  For more on the trainers.

‘The Lion King star JD McCrary Stuns at LA Premiere in Custom Balmain Suit’

The Lion King star JD McCrary (Young Simba) stuns audiences on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere in a custom Balmain suit created by Olivier Rousteing and styled by Ugo Mozie.

The 11-year-old triple threat wears the suit beautifully, with gold and silver handcrafted embroidery made in Paris, fit for a young king. McCrary plays ‘Young Simba’ singing 2 of the movie’s most iconic songs. He also has made history by being the youngest male solo artist to ever be signed. His first EP released April 19th, 2019, and one of the hit songs “Stole My Heart” is produced by music legend Jermaine Dupri. He also starred in the movie Little alongside Marsai Martin, Issa Rae and Regina Hall in theaters now. With more music on the way, it’s safe to say this will be the summer of JD.

In 2018, he made his primetime debut at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards where he wowed audiences around the world performing the hit song “Terrified” with Childish Gambino. He also performed a duet with legendary music icon Cyndi Lauper for WE DAY Live at the Forum.

Together, they sang a special rendition of “Ooh Child,” that was televised live on ABC. JD has also been invited to sing The National Anthem for the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers and the 2019 Pro Bowl which was live televised on ESPN as well as ELLEN. He was also named on Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood List.
