Maserati‘s most powerful performance vehicle makes its North American track debutwith a special first customer delivery at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
In a historic moment at Laguna Seca during the illustrious Monterey Car Week, Italian luxury performance brand Maserati delivered the first customer MCXtrema, its most powerful track-only super sports car, as part of a curated experience during the brand’s Car Week activities. This milestone moment marked the first time MCXtrema has graced North American soil.
Maserati MCXtrema: A New Chapter in Performance Excellence The Maserati MCXtrema, the Trident’s 730-horsepower ‘beast,’ has returned to Monterey, this time on track for its final stop during the Monterey Car Week tour. Intended to break the mold, the MCXtrema embodies Maserati DNA and the performance that defines every creation from the iconic Italian brand. With only 62 units produced globally, this limited-edition spectacle blends exquisite design with unparalleled racing dynamics.
This special occasion at Laguna Seca served as the V6 3.0L twin-turbo Nettuno race engine’s debut in North America, where it was heard roaring to life and racing around the track for the first time. The MCXtrema underwent a series of rigorous tests, culminating with this delivery of the premier example in late summer 2024. Given its track-only nature, it was fitting that the first customer delivery occurred at one of the most famous circuits in the world during Monterey Car Week.
A Grand Debut During Monterey Car Week Following its presence on the Maserati stand at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, this delivery moment was highlighted by the presence of Maserati Chief test driver Andrea Bertolini, renowned for his success in the GT class with four world titles aboard the legendary Maserati MC12. Bertolini took the MCXtrema on its inaugural laps on the iconic Laguna Seca track, displaying the car’s capabilities with its new owner beside him before handing over the keys for the first time. This ceremonial handover celebrated the car’s remarkable journey from concept to reality, with Bertolini’s pivotal role in its development through rigorous simulation testing.
“Seeing the MCXtrema come to life has been a rewarding journey. Maserati unveiled the concept here in Monterey just a year ago, and now, we’re delivering the first one at Laguna Seca,” said Giovanni Sgro, Head of Maserati Corse. ”It’s been a labour of love, with countless hours of hard work and dedication from our team. This car truly embodies the spirit of Maserati, combining the most advanced technology with our signature Italian craftsmanship. It’s an honour to be part of this milestone and to share it with our passionate customers. Very much out of respect for our customers, confirming the ownership of the MCXtrema continues to be an exclusive selection process – from beginning to end. When we decided to develop one of the most powerful track only cars in Maserati’s long history, we also wanted to identify the 62 unique individuals not as owners, but as custodians of a rich legacy.”
Crafted for Excellence The Maserati MCXtrema showcases the pinnacle of automotive innovation, blending Italian craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. This track-only masterpiece is one of Maserati’s most powerful performance cars, developed with extensive virtual analysis to ensure optimal performance. Approximately 200 hours were spent in the Maserati dynamic simulator, complemented by 1,000 hours of detailed virtual analysis across various simulations.
Built on four years of MC20 development and subsequent engine advancements, the Maserati MCXtrema excels in track performance. Designed by Maserati Centro Stile and 100% made in Italy, it merges beauty with functionality for superior aerodynamics and handling.
Exclusive MCXperience services Maserati has decided to make the universe of MCXtrema owners even more distinctive with MCXperience, a customer experience designed to offer a series of services reserved for the customers of the ‘beast’: an exclusive club for them to fully immerse themselves in the Maserati racing world, alongside professional drivers and the technicians at Maserati Corse Services.
MCXperience also offers the Concierge service for access to on-track experiences, as well as the MCXtrema Racing kit, designed for drivers by Maserati Centro Stile togheter with Sparco, a global leader in motorsport technical clothing and equipment, for them to feel like real racers in the MCXtrema.
A HISTORIC MEETING OF BUGATTI TRAILBLAZERS ON THE TRACK – THE TYPE 35 AND THE 100-YEAR ANNIVERSARY BOLIDE
A hallmark celebration of automotive excellence, Monterey Car Week affords the perfect occasion for the coming together of Bugatti legends past and present. A truly unique example of the marque’s new beacon for track-focused performance, the Bugatti Bolide, took to the gripping turns of the famous WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for the very first time – and was joined by the legendary racing machine that inspired it. Celebrating a glorious century of achievement, the one-of-one Bolide 100-year anniversary edition is a spectacular testament to the legacy of the most successful racing car ever: the iconic Bugatti Type 35.
Basking in the warmth of the Californian sun, these remarkable vehicles shared the storied circuit’s hallowed asphalt – negotiating the world-famous Corkscrew and the thrilling elevation changes in a stunning spectacle of elegance and excitement.
Watched on with exhilaration by CEO of Bugatti Rimac, Mate Rimac; President, Christophe Piochon; Managing Director, Hendrik Malinowski; Director of Aftersales & Customer Service, Alexis Ploix and other Bugatti team members – the historic occasion marked the culmination of years of development, honoring the legacy of inspiration established by the Type 35.
With the Type 35 and anniversary-edition Bolide proudly displayed in the Bugatti garage, this emotive moment for the marque could be shared with the public – both vehicles resplendent in this coming together of history and innovation.
“Sharing the brand’s quintessential DNA, the Type 35 and Bolide are pure manifestations of Bugatti track-focused performance,” said Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles. “With the Bolide 100-year anniversary edition, we celebrate the arrival of an exquisite, track-driven homage to the Type 35 – a century on from its motor racing debut. It is incredibly emotional to see them take to such a legendary track at once. Together, they exquisitely represent how the fusion of elegance and speed has evolved in Bugatti creations through the century.”
From the moment its beautiful form stunned the automotive and motor racing worlds at the Grand Prix de Lyon, 3rd August 1924, it was evident that the Type 35 was destined to redefine perceptions of performance. Over its active career, the Type 35 earned over 2,500 victories in multiple disciplines; from road races and rallies, to speed trials and hill climbs, the Type 35’s incredible versatility was a fitting tribute to its ingenious design and endless pursuit of performance.
The livery of the special-edition Bolide, the 100-year anniversary edition, perfectly commemorates the unparalleled Type 35 and Bugatti’s rich racing heritage. The bespoke vehicle’s finish, ‘Grand Prix Blue’, is a new interpretation of the Type 35’s unmistakable ‘Bleu de Lyon’ – made famous by the first examples of the Type 35 racing at Lyon in 1924. It is one of a host of references acknowledging its incredible heritage in the world of motor racing.
Red-accented carbon on the exterior complements each of the legendary racing colors of nations competing in early Grand Prix racing. Hues including ‘French Racing Blue’, the rich green of British racers, the gleaming white of German competitors and the bold rosso of the Italians embellishes the fin connecting the rear wing to the rear panel.
Such exquisite touches continue within the special model’s cockpit. Finished in pure carbon, the center console features an aluminum-milled inlay replete in ‘engine turn’ finish, while supple leather unique to the anniversary edition Bolide adorns the seats and features throughout the cabin. The Type 35 centenary is marked with intricate 100 Anniversaire embosses in the headrests, complementing the anniversary decals on the side sill.
In an emotional touch paying homage to the incredible evolution represented by these precious models, the cockpit is complete with a beautifully intricate trackplate depicting the Type 35 and Bolide together in profile.
Currently in the process of training future Bugatti owners in the ways of the Bugatti Bolide and the nuances of a track car, Bugatti took the opportunity at Laguna Seca to host a personal briefing for a Bolide customer at one of the most revered tracks in the world. Eager to immerse themselves in the experience of owning the track-only Bugatti, the future Bolide owner was delighted to learn more about the car he is eager to sit behind the wheel of and emotional when he saw it hitting the Laguna Seca track.
This once-in-a-lifetime occasion, bringing legends together, embodied a stunning spectacle on the asphalt of Laguna Seca – a moment that will hold a special place in the marque’s story as a celebration of icons past and present.

The RUF Rodeo, the only off-road sports car with a carbon-monocoque platform inspired by the Western Americana aesthetic, touches down in California
Automotive manufacturer RUF Automobile is proud to present the RUF Rodeo at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week. Following up on the concept Rodeo’s debut in 2020, the production 2025 Rodeo is based on RUF’s own carbon-fiber monocoque design with numerous enhancements designed for rough terrain.
Backing up the Rodeo’s chiseled design is an impressive collection of mechanicals. A fully adjustable all-wheel-drive system designed and engineered in-house by RUF allows the driver to vary power delivery from front to rear via a dedicated screen on the center console. The system is connected to a RUF six-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differentials front and rear. Power is supplied by a RUF-developed turbocharged 3.6-liter horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine, developing 610 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. The Rodeo’s carbon-fiber bodywork and monocoque structure ensure maximum rigidity and minimum mass with a curb weight of only 2,756 pounds. The structure is further reinforced by RUF’s Integrated Roll Cage, constructed from high-strength steel and firmly connected at four points to the vehicle’s monocoque.
A double-wishbone suspension with pushrod-actuated coil-overs and electronically adjustable dampers is utilized at all four corners. The system has been developed for off-road use, and the ride height increased to 9.5 inches. Forged center-lock wheels are wrapped in custom Goodyear all-terrain tires, measuring 235/55 R18 and wearing the RUF Rodeo logo prominently on their sidewalls. RUF’s advanced ceramic brakes provide stopping power. These mechanical ingredients have been designed and engineered with pure driving pleasure in mind, a tenant central to every RUF vehicle.
The interior of the Rodeo is meticulously crafted with a Western Americana theme, drawing heavy inspiration from the Ralph Lauren Ranch. The whimsical collection of patterns and colors extends to the seats, dashboard, doors and headliner upholstery. The leather graining and stitch work were carefully crafted in Pfaffenhausen to evoke a nostalgic reference to the American Old West and its “do anything, go anywhere” ethos, a fundamental principle in everything created at RUF. Like all RUF vehicles, the Rodeo’s interior controls are thoughtfully designed to enhance the driving experience, allowing the owner to fully engage with the car. This ensures the driver remains in complete control, emphasizing the analog drivability that RUF is known for while incorporating necessary modern creature comforts.
“At RUF, we are always looking to the future while being inspired by the past,” said Alois Ruf Jr. “Our new RUF Rodeo is the perfect example. We wanted to create a car that evokes a sense of nostalgia while benefitting from the thrill of modern technology that can let you go anywhere. We have a deep sense of connection to the beauty of the American West and wanted to honor that in the Rodeo. And, most importantly, we wanted to create something fun.”

ROLLS-ROYCE PRESENTS PHANTOM SCINTILLA AT THE QUAIL, A MOTORSPORTS GATHERING 2024
A tribute to The Spirit of Ecstasy
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars reveals the Phantom Scintilla Private Collection, inspired by the grace, dynamism, and beauty of the Spirit of Ecstasy.
The Spirit of Ecstasy figurine, created in a ceramic finish, recalls the Greek sculpture, ‘The Winged Victory of Samothrace,’ which inspired the original brief for a Rolls-Royce mascot in 1910.
‘Celestial Pulse’ Gallery artwork and animated Bespoke Starlight Headliner capture the fleeting moment of the Spirit of Ecstasy’s presence.
Embroidery on coach doors and rear fabric seats is composed of 869,500 stitches, extending to areas never-before used in a Phantom.
The embroidered door motif, made up of 633,000 stitches, is the most complex door design ever seen in a Rolls-Royce motor car.
Chris Brownridge, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, delivered the first of only 10 commissions of this Private Collection at ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ in Monterey, California.
‘Speed with silence, the absence of vibration, the mysterious harnessing of great energy, and a beautiful living organism of superb grace.’ Claude Johnson, Managing Director, Rolls-Royce Limited – Original brief for a Rolls-Royce figurine (1910)
For more than a century, the Spirit of Ecstasy has symbolised elegance and human achievements, inspiring works of art, from music to photography and moving images. As Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrates its 120th anniversary, it pays homage to its muse in a unique Private Collection, Phantom Scintilla. Limited to ten examples worldwide, this collection celebrates the legacy of the Spirit of Ecstasy. Rolls-Royce Motor Cars presented the first commission to a client during Monterey Car Week 2024.
A NEW CHAPTER IN A FAMILIAR STORY
In 1910, Rolls-Royce Managing Director Claude Johnson commissioned sculptor and illustrator Charles Sykes to create a Rolls-Royce mascot. Johnson was inspired by a Greek marble statue he had admired on a recent visit to the Louvre, The Winged Victory of Samothrace, dating from 190 BCE – a deity descending from the heavens.
Sykes felt the statue was too domineering to be a suitable subject. Having traveled in Silver Ghosts, he believed a more delicate figure would better express the marque’s grace, silence, and subtle power. It is believed that he took his real-life inspiration for what would become the Spirit of Ecstasy from Eleanor Thornton, Lord Montagu’s secretary and paramour, to bring this vision to reality.
Today, 120 years later, the Bespoke designers at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars have created Phantom Scintilla by introducing new materials and subtle references to the captivating vision of The Winged Victory of Samothrace.
