Putting the Pause in Menopause

Doctor Tips for Keeping your Mind Sharp and Your Mood Up

By Dr. Julianne Arena

We’ve heard lots about the changes that happen to your body during menopause – hot flashes, sleepless nights, and a true knock to your libido, to name a few. But what about what happens to your mind? Cognition and Mood is the theme for this year’s National Menopause Day because the changes to your mind and mojo are definitely affected by the physical changes in your body.

But hey, it’s not all so bad! How about the top three upsides to menopause:

  • No more periods
  • No more PMS
  • Sex for pure pleasure!

Looking at this life change positively helps with mindset, for sure. And – there are so many things you can do to take charge of this time in your life, especially when it comes to your mind and mood!

The Mind + Body Connection and Menopause

The truth is a neurological change does happen with menopause. Hormonal changes can affect the chemicals in the brain. You aren’t just imagining it when you find yourself “searching for words” more often than not – menopause can cause a delayed verbal memory. General forgetfulness and some cognitive decline are normal for many. (Although it does come back post-menopause!) For some women, the neurological changes occurring around this time can trigger emotional issues like depression and anxiety.  The great news is there are things you can do to get through the peri, post, and menopausal years without losing your mind!

Fight menopause brain fog and improve your mood with five simple steps:

  1. Protect the Heart – You may be surprised to learn how connected your heart and mind are. As progesterone and estrogen levels decrease with menopause, cholesterol levels can increase, upping the chances of heart disease.  Postmenopausal women are at an increased risk of mental deterioration due to cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes. Focus on small but mighty steps to being heart-healthy, like moderate exercise (starting with just a 10-minute walk a day), ditching bad habits like smoking and excessive drinking, and upping your healthy foods are great places to start.
  1. Stay Active – You already know that exercise may improve your mood, but it can also be highly beneficial for your brain. Exercise increases your neurotransmitters which pump up your endorphins – the feel-good chemicals that boost your mood. For extra endorphin boosting, invite a friend to walk with you. The friendship connection is powerful for endorphin levels too. Studies show that regular exercise changes the brain, not just cognition but also memory. (Oh, and added plus, regular exercise also boosts the libido.) And keep your mind active too. It’s the perfect time to feed your brain with stimulating hobbies to help it stay sharp – crosswords, reading, even chess!
  1. Establish a Sleep Routine – Hormones and hot flashes significantly impact sleep. And we don’t have to tell you, but less sleep = a bad mood, especially as we age. Good sleep is also one of the primary factors for overall good health, and studies show that varied sleep schedules worsen women’s cognition skills. It’s all about routine and sticking with it. We’ve probably all heard the basics of developing a sleep schedule: setting a consistent bedtime, limiting alcohol, putting the screens away well before bed, and so on. Try finding a mantra you can say in the middle of the night to get yourself asleep quickly and shut down the nighttime worrying. Remember how we were told to “count sheep” when we were little? There is something to that. Figure out a way to keep your mind busy and the worries away, you aren’t going to solve any problems in the middle of the night, and everything looks brighter in the morning anyway! Putting sleep as a top health priority will pay off in many ways.
  1. Get your Mojo Back – Your estrogen, progesterone and testosterone dip following menopause, leading to changes in sexual drive. In addition, less estrogen means less blood flow to the vagina, more dryness, and painful intercourse. Also, mood disorders and depression can cause low self-esteem, physical fatigue, lowered libido, and Anorgasmia, or trouble having an orgasm. Cliovana can help with these issues. The sound wave technology boosts the process of regenerating cells in the genitals, resulting in improved blood flow to the clitoris, which creates a long-term increase in women’s sexual responsiveness and intensity, helps with painful sex and lubrication, and increases orgasm frequency. It’s a quick and easy, entirely non-invasive treatment that creates a long-term increase in women’s sexual responsiveness and intensity.
  1. Be Friends with your Gynecologist – Many people in the menopausal years suffer from moodiness, anxiety, and even depression. It’s not just the hormones; some people feel sad that the childbearing years are over, and other significant mid-life changes complicate it physically and emotionally. Everyone’s journey and body are different. As uncomfortable as it may be, talk to your doctor. They have the resources and the knowledge to help you get back on track.

And… a bonus #6: Embrace this time in life! With middle age comes wisdom, unique opportunities to experience travel, go deeper in relationships, discover new hobbies, and more. We are all affected differently by our changing hormones. Every one of us going through menopause can focus on staying positive and not let menopause be a stumbling block to our happiness.

Focus on what you CAN do to get your mind and body in a better place to handle the changes you can’t control.  You have the power to manage menopause and not let it rule you!

EVERRATI UNVEILS WORLD’S FIRST ELECTRIFIED PORSCHE 911 964 WIDE BODY CABRIOLET VIA 360 MAGAZINE.

EVERRATI’S ELECTRIFIED PORSCHE

EVERRATI UNVEILS WORLD’S FIRST ELECTRIFIED PORSCHE 911 964 WIDE BODY CABRIOLET

Everrati Automotive Limited (Everrati), the leading global technology company specialising in redefining and futureproofing automotive icons, reveals its electrified Porsche 911 (964) Wide Body Cabriolet model – the first of its kind in the world.

Bringing together open-top zero-emission motoring with iconic design, Everrati’s latest model offers a truly unique experience, with thrilling performance thanks to its state-of-the-art OEM-grade EV powertrain, but one that also majors on clean air.

As large-scale manufacturers focus their resources on the production of hardtop EVs, convertible EV options are scarce. Everrati is preserving the unique hood-down driving experience, offering buyers a choice beyond that of mainstream brands by combining timeless styling with the very latest in EV technology.

Developed in the UK – the so-named convertible capital of Europe – the 964 Wide Body Cabriolet is capable of delivering supercar levels of roof-down performance year-round. The 964 Wide Body Cabriolet is built upon Everrati’s desire to positively contribute towards reducing air pollution, allowing top-down driving to be enjoyed to the maximum.

Extensively engineered at Everrati’s global headquarters in Oxfordshire, England, the Wide Body Cabriolet, like all the company’s models, combines a full restoration with the installation of sector-leading IP blended with technology from the best Tier 1 automotive suppliers.

As well as the UK and Europe, another key market for the new addition is the US, where Everrati has a partnership with Aria Group. Based in Irvine, California, Aria has peerless expertise in low-volume, high-end vehicle engineering and production supporting world-leading OEMs and reimagination specialist. This arrangement enables 964 manufacturing on both sides of the Atlantic.

With more than double the output of the original Porsche 911 (964) Cabriolet on which it is based, the 964 Wide Body Cabriolet is available in 440bhp or 500bhp forms; the latter can accelerate from 0-60mph in under four seconds with a total driving range of 200 miles thanks to its 62kWh battery.

Everrati has worked meticulously to preserve the original ‘feel’ and character of the Porsche 911 (964) Cabriolet through the optimisation of weight distribution, chassis response and safety and enhance the performance of the original, reinvigorating its soul. With its optional fully adjustable TracTive suspension system, owners can select a variety of modes to suit their mood.

The 964 Wide Body Cabriolet uses a donor chassis and body – selected for its provenance and condition – as the basis for restoration and electrification. At the core of Everrati’s engineering philosophy is the ability to fully reverse all modifications, allowing owners to revert the car back to its original specification if desired, and to preserve provenance into the future.

Founder and CEO of Everrati, Justin Lunny, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our product offering with a world-first in the form of our Porsche 911 (964) Wide Body Cabriolet. Everrati prides itself on enhancing the original ‘feel’ and character of iconic cars, and the pure open-top driving experience of the 964 Cabriolet, now combined with state-of-the-art EV power, means our customers can enjoy convertible thrills in truly sustainable, 21-century style. At present, the options open to buyers in the convertible EV market are extremely scarce, and we are proud to have created a cutting-edge convertible EV above and beyond what mainstream manufacturers are delivering.

“Arriving at a time where demand for our electrified classics has never been higher, the 964 Wide Body Cabriolet will form a key part of our product offering as we further ramp up global production in partnership with Aria Group.”

Everrati’s current model line-up includes:

Porsche 911 (964) Coupe, Targa, Cabriolet in Pure, Signature, and officially licenced Gulf Signature Editions Land Rover ‘Series’ IIA
GT40 in partnership with Superformance, including officially licenced Gulf Edition

Phillip Garcia and Shakira Barrera in Freevee sitcom Sprung via 360 MAGAZINE.

PHILLIP GARCIA IS SPRUNG

Listen to actor Phillip Garcia chat with Vaughn Lowery about Sprung on 360 MAG Apple/Spotify podcast HERE.

Born May 24, 1988, Phillip Garcia was raised in San José, California. As an adolescent, he loved anything that had to do with art, including musical theatre. At his first audition, he belted NSYNC‘s “This I Promise You,” earning him the lead role.

After years of honing his craft, Phillip attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in Los Angeles. Subsequently, he landed a plethora of roles in both TV and film: Criminal Minds, Scandal, Animal Kingdom, and OKJA.

The dramedy was created by the Emmy award-winning television director, writer, and producer Greg Garcia. In the hit streaming series, his character, Rooster, is released from prison due to COVID. And, he ends up sheltering in place at his mom’s with fellow inmates: former cellmate Jack (Garret Dillahunt); Gloria, Jack’s ex-prison girlfriend (Shakira Barrera), and his mother Barb (Martha Plimpton).

Although this critically acclaimed thespian continues to produce epic performances, he still found time for love. In fact, this week marks his one year anniversary with his beautiful and supportive wife. As they celebrate their nuptials, we’re sure the two of them will be toasting to his most talked-about starring role on Sprung.

‘‘He’s a lovable jerk. He would do anything to protect his mother… to protect the ones he loves. And for me, those were the moments that I love this character the most,’’ Phillip adds.

Phillip exuded a lot of excitement to have worked in tandem with such a dynamic cast, especially as the ensemble boasts other Latinx leads. Reliving his character’s plight, “What do we do now? We must shelter in place, we are in a global pandemic,” Phillip says.

The first season has been a roller-coaster. According to Philip, “We basically shot 10 episodes in 10 weeks, which is like a crazy time for me,” he says. Now, it’s being heavily praised by a myriad of media outlets: Wall Street Journal, The Hollywood Reporter, and Paste Magazine.

In sum, Sprung is solid, possessing raw humor and well-handled emotion. We’re looking forward to Season 2.

Reebok, Panini, Allen Iverson’s basketball shoe collaboration via 360 MAGAZINE.

REEBOK × PANINI

Reebok and sports card manufacturer Panini America have announced a rare collaboration highlighting cultural icons Allen Iverson and the coveted “Prizm” brand. Releasing globally November 4 alongside a retro-inspired apparel capsule ($40-$60), the collection is championed by three Prizm parallel iterations of A.I.’s historic Question basketball shoe.

Introduced in 2012, Panini America’s Prizm sports card brand – with its high-gloss Optichrome designs, desirable rookies, and coveted short-print parallels – has quickly become one of the most sought-after and defining products in modern sports cards culture. Then there’s Allen Iverson, an explosive six-foot guard out of Hampton, V.A. who as a rookie in 1996 would splash onto the scene and – wearing his signature Reebok Question – go on to redefine the game of basketball and its many subcultures. In Reebok x Panini America, these two irrepressible forces collide.

“This has been a long time coming,” commented Jason Howarth, VP of Marketing at Panini America. “The Prizm brand has helped launch sports trading cards into the global mainstream. It reaches beyond the hobby, just like Iverson reaches beyond basketball. To be able to authentically bring together two iconic brands who each have such a deep connection to sports, collectibles, and culture – we think this one will be fun for everyone who engages with it.”

Across product, Prizm fans will appreciate special design hits like shrink-wrap-inspired all-over logo branding, embroidered Iverson autographs, light-reactive parallel treatments, classic Panini yellow-tag branding, Rookie Shoe badge hang tags, and more, all across three unique parallels:

Question Mid Tiger Prizm (HQ1097/$170, HQ1103/$110): Widely available in adult and youth sizing, this wearable colorway nods Iverson’s tenacity, taking cues from Panini America’s admired Tiger Prizm parallel with overlays across a white leather upper.

Question Low Rookie Signature Prizm (HQ1099/$140): Available in more-limited quantities, this design puts a glossy royal blue Prizm spin on the low-cut Question, paying homage to Iverson’s rookie team colors.

Question Mid Black Pulsar Prizm (HQ4135/$170): Rare in distribution, this Question Mid offers a narrative on the flashing lights surrounding A.I. via Panini America’s hyper-rare Black Pulsar Prizm treatment on the upper alongside smooth suede overlays.

Select pairs purchased from Reebok.com and local retailers will come with a pack of limited-edition Panini America x Reebok Iverson trading cards. Each card features beautiful imagery of A.I. from the early 2000’s captured by legendary photographer Gary Land with designs drawing inspiration from Prizm, Question, and other Reebok Iverson product lines. From these packs, consumers will have the opportunity to “pull” special Prizm parallel cards, short-printed Iverson on-card autographed cards, Iverson-worn patches, and more. (Comprehensive checklist available upon request.)

Only 100 were made, each of which shipped with an exclusive Panini x Reebok Mile High gold-vinyl insert card.

NEHERA SS23 Show Package in 360 MAGAZINE.

NEHERA SS23

SHOW PACKAGE

“Your shirt is too low. Your pants are too masculine. In fact, don’t wear pants. Dress feminine. That’s too much. Don’t show your midriff. Show your shoulders. Cover up. You’re too dressed down. You’re too dressed up. Loosen up. Wear some color. That’s too much color.”

Femininity was constantly subjected to power judgments, whether through social norms or sartorial verdicts. This made us doubt, overanalyze, and overthink what we put on.

The Spring Summer 23 is a statement for the uncomplicated, the easygoing and the effortless. Furthering NEHERA’s foundation in tailoring, the collection introduces easy to operate wardrobe, mentally friendly and physically enjoyable.

The narrative arc of the collection is liberating the Woman from the tyranny of sartorial judgements and verdicts to empower freedom and self-expression.

The garments are self-evident, speaking and leading the Woman to unforced stylings as well as offering choice and versatility. The palette is urban, confidently exploring color blocking.

Coordinated monochromatic looks that range from understated hues to bold colors. No hesitation or second thoughts. Exploiting the brand’s experience and passion for tailoring, the collection is smoothly assembling sophisticated, deconstructed styles to simple, comfortable suits.

The print of the collection is the result of a collaboration with an artist based in Antwerp and born in Brastislava, Juraj Straka. Having grown up in Slovakia, it was an obvious choice for Nehera to collaborate with him. Having already collaborated for Schiaparelli and Dries van Noten, he comes this season to deliver his knowledge to the house Nehera. He digitalizes his painting to create a powerful pattern.

With SS23, NEHERA makes a statement that high fashion doesn’t need to be mentally exhausting, it can be easygoing yet elegant, simple yet erudite.

HIVE’S FASHION TAKEOVER

*Featured image by Lynn Rossi

The month of September is a yearly indicator for change. It’s mostly for the seasons, but for fashion, it’s brought something extra. The advent of NFT, a digital fashion, has transformed the retail industry in recent times. Shows like HIVEMIND, inspired by purveyors SAIbysai and This Man’s Brand, provided a visual depiction of this phygital trend. Featuring innovative NFT drops in tandem with a live catwalk, the production catapulted spectators into a new age of style.

SAlbysai’s phygital NFT collection with art by Danica Robinson, dropped during her first runway show on September 16 in NYC. The NFT project was produced by Hive and is available on the foundation marketplace.  The event sponsored by Hive and Satoshi’s Closet included a tangible fashion presentation by SAIbysai. Lastly, we held a pilot screening of HIVEMIND by Hive–which recently won “Best NFT Film/Video” at the iHollywood Film Festival. Subsequently, Hive released their WLT skin which permitted access to additonal NFTs and upcoming exclusive events.

The fusion of fashion and technology was groundbreaking. It sparked a deeply rooted conversation from an acclaimed panel of professionals: the founder of Satoshi’s Closet, Michael Pastko; founder of Hive, Bee Davies; and designer of Made by Mena, Chris Mena. Both participants and guests tremendously benefited from this mind-blowing presentation.

Another spectacular event was Holotopia. It’s a new XR fashion event which took place September 24 in Long Beach at Thunder Studios. Of late, This Man’s Brand, powered by Hive, dropped a phygital NFT collection with art fabricated by Chris Arvan. Lastly, cutting-edge AR technology was exhibited from NFT Marketplace DRESSX while XR production was showcased from Holotopia’s team at Metajax, form-u.la and Thunder Studios. The show was streamed live on Decentralland and Twitch, allowing attendees a whimsical behind the scenes peek into the new world order.

Nicky Champa and Pierre Boo at Milan Fashion Week via 360 MAGAZINE

Nicky × Pierre

Listen to Nicky Champa × Pierre Boo discuss a hodgepodge of topics w/ Vaughn Lowery via 360 MAG Apple/Spotify podcast HERE.

Watch their complete interview on YT HERE.

Boo and Champa better known as Pierre Boo and Nicky Champa on TikTok, who have more than 10 million followers, many of them LGBTQ+ youth, tween girls, and aging moms, who love their 10-30 second videos of silly jokes, challenges, and viral dances.

They met on March 3, 2017. Each of them was looking for a role in Hollywood and Pierre was going through the process of getting over a breakup at the time. From the first moment, there was a crush. As much as Pierre wanted to take it easy with Nicky, there was no denying the connection. ”He is a very beautiful guy” adds Pierre. In fact, they are very committed to each other. And part of that commitment is sexual exclusivity.

Nicky Champa and Pierre Boo started their social media presence one year after their encounter by posting their relationship on Instagram. The reaction of the fans was immediate and stronger than expected. Soon after, the creators tapped into the potential of TikTok and created even more forms of content. They are audience skyrocketed. ‘’I think our closest supporters, our fans, they just love seeing us doing these things together. I think for many of them, we are an example of what they could have, maybe now in this moment of their lives or maybe not depending on their circumstances too which keep us going,’’ say Champa and Boo

Although they each have their own identifiers and tags, their videos are almost always the two together. According to the couple, ‘’We saw the spark when we started to post our relationship, just during covid-19, we could only post us.
