Fabletics Swim

Fabletics Makes a Splash

By: Yash Thadani

Fabletics, the brand that has taken the athletic wear space by storm is now entering the swim apparel market. To showcase their new collection, the team put on a spectacular event in a beautiful house in Los Angeles, CA.

Approaching the residence, the women’s swim collection was on display in the center of the house. Immediately able to tell the quality of the fabric was exceptional, and the silhouettes of all the women’s pieces depicted originality. A few of the styles included were different variations of bandeau bikini tops and flattering one pieces. The crowd favorite from the women’s collection was the Noa String Tie One Piece in wild wisteria. The piece is appropriate to wear around your grandparents, but desirable enough to wear at a pool party with friends.

The assortment of mens swim garments were to die for. The wardrobe consisted of chic colored swim trunks made with chlorine resistant material. The mens collections also  included a matching terry-cloth shirt and shorts for throwing on when you hop out the pool. The athleisure brand’s design team had really outdone themselves with this compilation of swimwear.

“Our members love Fabletics because they can count on us to always offer something new and bold. We are thrilled to officially introduce swim and deliver the best combination of style and performance at an unmatched price to complement the rest of our customer’s lifestyle and wardrobe,” said Jennifer Chevchek, VP of Design.

Wandering towards the back of the home, an enormous backyard with the guests participating in yoga and enjoying brunch with an amazing view of Los Angeles. Attendees were welcomed to blueberry muffins, croissants, fruit cups and more. There was also a bar that was serving coffee, pressed juice and hard kombucha.

The entire event was planned extremely well, and the whole collection exhibited versatility. The emphasis on the brand trying to be inclusive of all body shapes and sizes is admirable. Size from both collections range from XXS-4XL. Shop their latest collection on April 1st, 2021 at www.fabletics.com

SZNS Launch Swimwear Brand

Los Angeles based pop-quartet SZNS are set to launch their own swimwear brand SZNS SWIM. This news follows the groups recent Times Square billboard and feature in People Magazine for their newest single “Build A Boy.” SZNS music gives a fresh take on the classic 90’s girl group music we all know and love with blending elements of EDM, Latin-synth, and House inspired beats, incorporating the styles and backgrounds of all its members. Similarly, to their song writing process Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn have brought together their unique styles in collaboration with Brazil’s top active wear workshop São Paolo to create the vibrant SZNS SWIM collection. Just as they have with their music SZNS want to make a product for all to enjoy no matter who they are.

In order to better understand SZNS, one must first understand the unique personalities of each member Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn and how their names uniquely play into seasons they represent.  Winter for instance is your shoulder to cry on, a listening ear and your biggest advocate, someone who is there for you during those tough times. All Spring wants in life is to connect and heal people through her music, using her talents to help others grow through her art similarly to how the showers of April bring help bring the beautiful flowers of May. Autumn on the other hand is troublemaker of the group, some might see her tough exterior but those closest to her in SZNS know she’s a real softie, you may find her out on town on Friday night but you have just a good a chance of finding her curled up on the couch watching Netflix. While Summer is known for being the bubbliest of the group, and can be found dancing everywhere she goes bringing her energy that turns even your darkest times to a bright sunny day. Together these four personalities come together to create the fresh high energy sound of SZNS. With this in mind SZNS are getting ready to release a series of four EP’s each specifically crafted for each member/season, emanating power, vulnerability, wit, and reality ranging from bass dropping dance beats to sultry ballads! Stay tuned to SZNS’s socials (below) for more information on the release of SZNS SWIM as well as upcoming tour dates and new music releases from SZNS.

Rob DeCou and son in a photo for HOPE61

HOPE61 x Rob DeCou

HOPE61, the human trafficking prevention ministry of One Mission Society, is joining forces with ultra-endurance athlete Rob DeCou for the Uberman ultra-triathalon.

The triathlon will wake place Oct. 8 in Southern California, and HOPE61 and DeCou will aim to raise $50,000 in the fight against human trafficking.

With a course length of 556 miles, Uberman is the most difficult triathlon in the world. A 21-mile swim through the Pacific Ocean leads athletes to Palos Verdes, where they then begin a 400-mile bike ride through Los Angeles and into Badwater Basin, the lowest point in North America. From there, the race closes with a 135-mile run through Death Valley and a 13,000-foot final ascent to the trailhead at Mount Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States.

HOPE61 is based out of Greenwood, Indiana, and trains churches around the world to understand, identify and combat human trafficking. Aiming to reach those most vulnerable to human trafficking, HOPE61 wants to help churches find God-given gifts, talents, abilities, and resources to reduce vulnerability.

Tom Overton, the global director for HOPE61, said he is excited to partner with DeCour.

“He is using his God-given perseverance and athletic gifts and abilities powerfully to raise awareness and much-needed funds to stop trafficking both locally and around the world,” Overton said.

HER releases video for ‘Icarus’

Today, Her returns with the video for their latest single, “Icarus”—watch here. The song was written by frontman Victor Solf in memory of his best friend and co-founder of Her, Simon Carpentier. The video was directed by French film director Rodrigue Huart for Studio+, and it features various symbols from past Her videos, “Queens,” “SWIM,” and “Blossom Roses,” which represent renewal, hope and melancholy.

Of the song, Solf says, “‘Icarus’ is a song that I wrote in memory of Simon, and it explains why I am continuing now. This video is very special to me because it tells the whole story of Her in one video. Core fans will be able to recognize several symbols from our past videos.”

“Icarus” is taken from Her’s critically-acclaimed, self-titled debut album released earlier this year—listen here. The debut album also features Her’s hit tracks, “We Choose,” “Neighborhood” and “On & On” (feat. AnnenMayKantereit & Roméo Elvis).

While still in school, the half-German Victor Solf and the French Simon Carpentier met in 2007, bonded like long lost brothers, started making music together equally informed by old school soul a la Otis Redding and post-Yeezus hip-hop and formed Her in 2015. Success followed as the breakout “Five Minutes” soundtracked Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” campaign and eventually generated over 8 million Spotify streams. The duo released a pair of EPs Her Tape #1 and Her Tape #2, spawning fan favorites such as “Quite Like,” “Union,” “Her” and amassing over 20 million cumulative Spotify streams. Merging artfully seductive and provocative visuals and dreamy newer wave pop with a jazz undercurrent, the boys crisscrossed the globe in support of the EPs, including making waves stateside. In the middle of it all, unbeknownst to anyone but those closest to him, Simon lost a long, quiet and arduous battle with cancer in August 2017. With his friend’s spirit always close by, Victor worked on what would become the duo’s 2018 major label full-length debut, Her [Republic Records].

Man to Swim around Great Britain

Strongman on the challenges he faces in his 3,220-kilometre, 100-day voyage.

Strongman Ross Edgley is bidding to become the first man to swim around the whole of mainland Great Britain.

Renowned for such feats as a rope climb to the height of Everest and swimming 100 kilometres in the Caribbean with a tree strapped to his back, his 3,220km swimming marathon (2,000 miles) is his latest venture.

He set off on June 1 and is swimming on average six hours at a time in a clockwise direction, and will not touch shore until arriving at London’s Tower Bridge in an estimated 100 days.

Here’s what the epic voyage takes in his own words…

‘Swimming the Channel on a daily basis’

“It’s the equivalent of swimming the English Channel every day. But I know my body can take it. I know I can be the first person in history to achieve it.”

‘Unfinished business from the Caribbean’

“Earlier this year, I attempted to swim from Martinique to St Lucia while tied to a tree. I’d aimed to swim 40km point to point but the current was totally against me and kept dragging me back. Even though I didn’t reach the shore, I actually swam over 100km in the end. While the athlete in me was happy with that, the adventurer in me had unfinished business. So, I phoned up the Royal Marines when I returned to the UK and asked if I could swim for 48 hours straight, just to see what I’ve got in the locker. The swim went really well and I hit 126km. One of the Marines mentioned the idea of swimming around the entirety of Britain – something that’s never been done before – and I thought, ‘why not?’”

‘Around Great Britain in 100 days’

“By looking at my swim metrics and comparing them to people who’d rowed around the entirety of Great Britain, I was able to estimate 100 days as a target. Oddly enough, in very bad conditions, my open water swimming times are the same as those of the rowers. A friend of mine named Sean Conway once swam the length of Great Britain in 135 days. I’m looking to do more than double that distance in less time.”

‘Turning into a prune’

“A lot of experienced open water swimmers have told me that my skin will eventually reject being in salt water for such a long time. I got a taste of this during my 48-hour swim with the Marines, where my hands and feet pruned – essentially I got trench foot. What’s more, being in a wetsuit for months on end will probably mean I develop sores. Hopefully these turn to calluses, otherwise the pain could be unbearable under my armpits and parts where the wetsuit rubs. My body’s going to break down at sea, I know that but I must be mentally ready.”

Chess with Mother Nature’

“To do this sort of challenge I need the ability to swim 50km day and night, powering through 3m waves. But if the currents are against me I have no chance. The GB rowing challenge, which follows the same route, is labelled the world’s toughest rowing race on account of the tides, unpredictability and weather. When I told its organisers I’d be swimming it they told me I was crazy. “If you get it wrong around The Highlands you’ve eight knots coming against you,” they said. “So even if you are swimming two to three knots, an Olympic level, you’ll still be going back four knots.” It’s basically going to be a game of chess with Mother Nature – you can swim hard, but you need to swim smart.”

‘A wardrobe of wetsuits’

“We’re doing it in the spirit of open water swimming – no buoyancy aids, gloves only needed during cold periods. The only advantage I’ll have is a collection of swimsuits tailored for estimated weight loss, ranging from full Ross, to emaciated Ross 60 or so days in, when I’ll have shifted a few stones. My legs will probably atrophy first. I won’t be using them, they’ll probably shrivel – kicking your legs account for only 10 per cent overall propulsion, even with Olympic swimmers. We’ll also be taking a picture of me each day, so people can see my body’s transformation as I go.”

‘Turning into a five-year-old’

“It’s not a solo mission at all, it’s a team event, and the captain of my boat is going to be my hero. He will plot everything – he has all the tidal maps, all the electronic versions, all over the boat. I’ll also be plotting where I am on a map every day to boost morale. When you’re out at sea and all you can see is the bottom of the sea bed, it’s very easy to lose track of where you are. So it’ll be nice to clamber back on the boat and see that I’ve made progress. Ultimately, when you’re fatigued you have the cognitive function of a 5-year-old, so I’ll be like ‘point me in the right direction and let me know when I’ve got to change’.”

‘An anti-jellyfish beard’

“Wildlife is always a danger when you’re isolated in the sea. Giant jellyfish are a particular worry. I won’t shave. Because you’re leading with the head and the face will be most exposed, any protection, like a big beard, will help. I’ll try and grow it so by the time I get up to Scotland it’s fairly rugged. I’ll also encounter sea otters, dolphins and killer whales along the way, which I’m actually looking forward to. It’ll help break things up for me and be an incredible privilege to see.”

Sony Musicߣs innovative merchandising company The Thread Shop announces their partnership with music icon Iggy Pop today! The apparel and accessory collaboration is an exclusive collection for Billabong.

Once a streetwalking cheetah with a heart full of Napalm, these days Iggy’s more notorious for lounging all day at the beach or pool in boardshorts. “I usually wake up and stay nude for three or four hours,” Iggy says. “And when I feel like getting formal, Iߣll put on boardshorts. These prints are an authentic tribute and a graphic history of Iggyߣs legendary lust for life and thread the entire collection of boardshorts, graphic tees and pullovers. The wetsuit top titled, Éc;Wild Thing Glide Skin,Éd; cross-pollinates Billabong’s surf DNA with Iggy’s proto-punk attitude.
