STACEY x Saturn Return

LA-based indie pop singer, songwriter and Wurlitzer enthusiast, STACEY, is sharing her retro-celestial, debut album, Saturn Return, with the universe this Friday, May 21. Saturn Return a time of aligning with one’s true path is a musical cruise from 60s psychedelic day-trips to glossy 70s daydreams, and STACEY crystallizes the nostalgic longing of golden age pop records into lyrical refractions for the modern era. With previous singles “The Songwriter,” “One Woman,” “D.M.T” and “Far Away,” the energy of “That 70s show chic” (LADYGUNN) and “Psychedelic pop with a modern twist” (Wonderland Magazine) has been illuminated in full technicolour already and tmrw Magazine says, “If the goal was to enchant us all into anticipating the upcoming album, it has certainly worked.”

Today, STACEY shares the final single before the album comes out. “Strange (But I Like It)” is the crux of STACEY’s Saturn Return journey – leaving one’s home planet in pursuit of finding oneself and also finding a few fellow alien friends. The official music video is STACEY’s directorial debut, a 60s space-age Barbarella-inspired voyage. It is weird, tripped out, fashion, and a totally fun ride. Strange, yet so likable, the video features a Playboy-inspired 1970s Futuro house, a band of STACEYs, an alien entanglement, and so much more.

On the latest single, STACEY says, “I’m so proud of this video as my directorial debut. Being an indie artist in a pandemic, I took on many roles to keep the team small and safe; I figured I’d just be my own band, so I learned all the instruments. I also produced, styled, art directed, and set decorated.

Stylistically, I borrowed elements from classic films like Barbarella (1968) and The 10th Victim (1965). I also got really into space age-era fashion designers like Pierre Cardin and Rudi Gernriech, styling each of the band characters in authentic pieces of theirs. The singer’s dress however I had custom made. I dove deep into space-age design and architecture and was over the moon to connect with the owner of the yellow Idyllwild Futuro home. It was a dream to shoot there.

I wanted to tell the story of traveling to a new place on your own, how it can be a bumpy start but eventually, you find your fellow weirdo alien friends and begin to feel at home in yourself and amongst your like-minded community. It represents one of the most pivotal journeys of my Saturn Return.”

Her face has graced 12 billboards in Los Angeles and her music has been heard on Netflix’ Spinning Out, Lucifer (x3), Orphan Black (x2), MTV Scream, Degrassi, Wynonna Earp, iZombie, Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant (x4) and more. She’s performed virtually for Home School by It’s a School Night x BandsInTown, and prior to the pandemic, she was playing with greats like Cameron Avery of Tame Impala, Tamino and Charlotte Day Wilson.

With over a million streams on Spotify last year, several handfuls of playlist placements (like New Music Friday x3, Fresh Finds x3 and more), and a cover spot of Spotify’s “Outliers” playlist, not to mention lots of love from Apple Music as well, it’s clear that STACEY is one to watch in 2021. In fact, Ones to Watch raves, “STACEY’s voice dazzles,” and Clash muses over her “Wistful, summer-fresh songwriting.” Well, in that case, her debut album is arriving right on time for Summer 2021. Stay tuned for more STACEY.

Quin NFN Releases New Music Video

Today, Austin, Texas rapper Quin NFN releases the music video, shot by Dan2Thel, for his latest single “Having My Way.” The single and music video are available now via 10K Projects.

The first song Quin ever made was a remix of a track by Chicago’s teenage drill rapper Lil Mouse. The song earned him a local buzz in his neighborhood and Austin at large, as the city began to take notice of the then-15-year-old who was just beginning to make noise. His momentum only grew when he released the video for “Gametime Pt. 2,” a track that finds Quin at his most aggressive, and promoted the clip on the SayCheese platform. Quin stayed consistent while maneuvering the pitfalls of Austin’s small scene and, a year later, he shared a snippet of the song that would change his life. Within days, the video for “Talkin’ My Shit,” a bass-heavy dose of Quin’s charisma and swagger, went viral, and his promise to his mom became a guarantee.

After signing with Elliot Grange’s 10K Projects in 2019, Quin released his debut album 4NUN, with features from PnB Rock and NLE Choppa. The project, which has garnered over 115 million U.S. streams since its release, found Quin challenging himself to push his rowdy sound further. But his latest project QUINCHO, out March 27, is a full-on showcase of his impressive versatility. Though he makes sure to still deliver turn-up anthems, like the rambunctious single “Ok Cool,” Quin also leans into his melodic bag to deliver catchy tracks like “All Blue.”

Despite all his success, Quin still lives in Austin, where he can be near his mom and where he’s most comfortable. He wants to be an example of how to handle growing rap fame for those that come after him in Austin, something he had to learn largely on his own. “I don’t really feel like I had a chance to look back and reflect on everything yet,” he says. Given how quickly he blew up, Quin says he’s now focused on mastering his craft. “There’s still a whole lot of stuff I’m learning and trying to perfect,” he says. “But I get better every time I go to the studio.”

Furthermore, Twenty One Pilots will follow their livestream with a special TV performance on Sunday, May 23 at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards which will air at 8:00PM ET / 5:00PM PT on NBC.

Written and largely produced by Joseph in isolation over the course of the past year at his home studio, with Dun engineering the album’s drums from across the country, Scaled And Icy is the product of long-distance virtual sessions and finds the duo processing their upended routines along with the prevailing emotions of 2020 – anxiety, loneliness, boredom, and doubt. The duo had to forgo their normal studio sessions but reached a new of level of introspection in the process, adopting a more imaginative and bold approach to their songwriting. The result is a collection of songs that push forward through setbacks and focus on the possibilities worth remembering. Scaled And Icy is Twenty One Pilots’ first studio album in three years and follows their RIAA Platinum certified LP, Trench.

In 2020, Twenty One Pilots surprised fans with standalone singles “Level of Concern” and “Christmas Saves The Year.” “Level of Concern” reigned at Alternative Radio for 12 weeks straight and cracked the Top 25 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, while also achieving RIAA Gold certification, and propelling the band to victory at last year’s American Music Awards where they took home the award for Favorite Artist Alternative Rock. “Christmas Saves The Year” arrived at the tail end of 2020 and debuted on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart becoming the first holiday-themed song to make the list since 2012.

Twenty One Pilots scored one final accolade in the final moments of 2020, officially breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest music video with their history-making regenerative visual for “Level of Concern.” Conceived by the band with interactive director Jason Nickel, and award-winning storyteller/director Jason Zada, the first-ever Never-Ending Music Video pulled in fan created content from over 162,000 user submissions, in real time, live on YouTube. Powered by Imposium, every three minutes and forty seconds a new music video was created and streamed live to YouTube, containing brand new content from fans. Besting the previous record holder, Pharrell and his 24-hour long video for “Happy”, Twenty One Pilots’ Never-Ending Music Video for “Level of Concern” broadcasted for 177 days straight with a total run time of 4,264 hours, 10 mins, 25 seconds.

Twenty One Pilots LP Trench ushered in a new era for the duo from Ohio. Earning Platinum certification from the RIAA, the album was met with critical acclaim with Billboard declaring, Trench revels in the confounding genre-blurring and cavernous conceptualism that has defined Twenty One Pilots. A true global phenomenon having surpassed two billion streams worldwide, Trench is highlighted by the RIAA Gold and Platinum certified alternative hits The Hype, Chlorine, and Jumpsuit.  Jumpsuit stands as the decade’s fastest rising song to reach #1 on Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart and earned the duo their fourth Grammy nomination (Best Rock Song). The acclaimed conceptual collection also features the RIAA Gold-certified Nico And The Niners and the RIAA Platinum-certified single “My Blood.”

How to Negotiate Used Car Prices: A Basic Guide

Are you looking for a used car? Before you sign on the dotted line, there are some things you need to know beforehand while on your search.

You might be wondering how to negotiate used car prices and get the best deal possible. Below we’re going to share some useful tips that will help you become a negotiating pro.

Take Your Time

A professional salesperson can smell someone desperate to make a purchase from a mile away. They will take time to turn on the charm and push you towards paying a higher price for a car that isn’t worth that value.

The first tip we’re going to offer when buying a used car is to take your time. You need to take your time to research the car that you’ve got your eye on and the price that other used cars are being sold for.

Check Online Reviews

Reviews will share with you the advantages and disadvantages of doing business with a specific car dealer. The reviews will tell you whether or not the sellers in this business provide fair deals or are just trying to sell a car.

If most reviews don’t show the dealership in a positive light, you should think about doing business with other dealerships. The best dealerships go as far as letting customers know the benefits of buying used cars, like thecoolcarguys.com.

Set Aside Time

Above, we mentioned that when you negotiate car price for a used car, you need to take your time. When you go to see the car, you need to set aside some time to spend at the dealership because you will need to take your time there too.

You need to give yourself time to trade in another car if that’s what you plan to do. You also need time to take the car that you’re purchasing for a test drive to ensure that it’s in a condition suitable for someone that’s going to buy it.

Once you’ve done those things, you will need time to negotiate until you come to a price you’re comfortable paying.

Get Preapproval

Getting preapproved through a bank for financing before you go to the dealership will help to save you some time. It will give you an idea of how much you can spend according to your approval.

Knowing how much you’ve been approved for will come in handy when you’re negotiating your prices.

How to Negotiate Used Car Prices the Right Way

There are several things to know when it comes to how to negotiate used car prices before making your final purchase. The first thing you need to do is some research on the car you want to buy and what it typically sells for when it’s not brand new.

Next, you need to set aside time to spend at the dealership before purchasing the car. Now that you know how to negotiate, scroll through the other posts we’ve published in this section.

5 Ways Pay Stub Creators Can Help You

Over 93 percent of Americans get paid via direct deposit.

This is super convenient for them (who want to wait in line to cash a check at the bank?). However, it can also present challenges if you don’t receive a pay stub every time you get paid.

If this is the case for you, consider generating your own pay stubs. Listed below are 5 benefits you can enjoy by doing so.

1. Rent an Apartment

Often, when you’re applying to rent an apartment, you need to provide proof of income.

If you get paid by direct deposit, you might not have this information readily available. Generating your own pay stubs ensures you have the documents you need to verify that you can afford the rent.

2. Stay on Top of Your Earnings

Generating pay stubs also makes it easier for you to manage your finances and keep track of your earnings.

When payment information is right in front of you in an easy-to-read pay stub, you’ll be able to pick up on potential issues and correct them sooner. You may also be able to budget better since you have a clearer idea of what you’re bringing in.

3. Qualify for Loans

You can also create pay stubs to apply for an auto loan more easily. When you generate your own pay stubs, you can present them at the bank or car dealership and get approved for a loan faster.

4. Pay Employees Faster

If you run a business, you definitely ought to consider generating pay stubs yourself. This helps you to get your employees paid faster since you can print the stubs right there in the office, rather than waiting for them to be mailed to the employees’ houses.

5. Avoid Employee Payment Errors

More than 82 million workers have experienced paycheck errors at some point in their lives.

When you use a pay stub generator that comes with an accurate pay stub calculator, you’re less likely to make errors and pay your employees an incorrect amount. This makes life simpler for everyone at the company, including you.

How to Make Your Own Pay Stubs

You get to enjoy all these benefits when you make your own pay stubs. As a bonus, it’s also easy to make pay stubs online.

There are lots of tools out there (many of them are free) that you can use to create pay stubs for any purpose. When looking for a pay stub generator, consider the following:

  • Price
  • Ease of use
  • Template options
  • Customer support

Consider whether or not the generator provides a pay stub example, too. This gives you a chance to see what the pay stub will look like and ensure it doesn’t leave out any important information.

Start Generating Pay Stubs Today

As you can see, there are lots of reasons to make pay stubs yourself. If you want to experience these benefits, follow the tips outlined above and start using a simple pay stub creator today.

Diversity & Inclusion Research Conference

Diversity & Inclusion Research Conference to return for its fourth year.

Researchers, practitioners, corporate leaders and philanthropists share findings and best practices to address today’s most pressing societal issues.

The fourth annual Diversity & Inclusion Research Conference (DIRC21) will take place as a virtual event on November 17-19, 2021. DIRC21 brings together researchers, practitioners, corporate leaders, philanthropists and policymakers to share findings and best practices for today’s most pressing societal issues related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), ranging from health and wealth inequities, to social justice and workplace DEI.

“The inequities highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic and by the murder of George Floyd have raised global awareness of the profound impact of one’s personal traits on virtually every facet of our society” said DIRC co-creator Paolo Gaudiano. “DIRC fills a unique and much needed niche, elevating the discourse about DEI beyond qualitative, narrative approaches.”

DIRC21, organized by DEI research nonprofit Aleria Research Corp (ARC) in partnership with the New York University Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity and Strategic Innovation, will be hosted on the Socio virtual event platform, and all content will be available at the DIRC website info page.

Taking full advantage of its virtual format, DIRC21 will combine pre-recorded and live content to give the audience maximum flexibility in accessing the information that is most interesting and useful to them. In addition to a full roster of talks and panels, DIRC21 will feature live workshops, interactive experiences, immersive videos, fireside chats and Q&A sessions, offering every attendee the opportunity to focus on topics of interest to them.

“Our virtual format, which was originally developed out of necessity, has proven to be superior to in-person events in many ways” said Toni Shoola, DIRC co-organizer. “We learned a lot last year, and for DIRC21 we are unveiling even more ways for the audience to gain invaluable knowledge about DEI.”

DIRC will showcase an impressive lineup of speakers and panelists from corporations, foundations, academic institutions, government agencies and other sectors, who will discuss the importance of research as a way of addressing a wide range of societal problems related to DEI, while sharing key findings and best practices.

In alignment with its mission, DIRC21 will introduce novel approaches to share its proceeds equitably with presenters, and will also donate a portion of its revenues to a select group of charitable organizations supporting greater inclusion and equity in our society. For additional information or to purchase single or bulk tickets, please visit the DIRC website.
