Ferraro’s White Truffle Festival

Ferraro’s Announces its White Truffle Festival with a special dinner, October 1st through December 31st.
White truffle season comes to Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar beginning Oct.1 through Dec. 31. Ferraro’s announces a special three-course dinner and Nebbiolo wine pairing during which guests will savor one of the season’s most indulgent ingredients—Italian white truffles.
Italian white truffles are widely regarded as the most exquisite of all truffles. Their season runs typically from late October to late December. Truffles grow in the wild, where they enjoy a symbiotic relationship with mature oak, beech and hazelnut trees, from which they draw carbohydrates while growing underground. For this reason, truffles cannot be cultivated. That fact, together with their unmistakably rich and umami-filled flavor, makes truffles a universally rare and sought-after ingredient.
This extraordinary White Truffle Dinner stars three Nebbiolo wines—each one paired with dishes incorporating shaved white truffle. 360 Magazine is excited to try out the special dinner. The cost for dinner is $195++ per person. To make reservations, please call (702) 364-5300. The full menu follows:

About Grand Canyon Lodge – North Rim

Grand Canyon Lodge: North Rim is the only lodging inside the National Park on the North Rim. Located at Bright Angel Point, the Lodge was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. The original Lodge was constructed in 1928 and burned in 1932. The current Lodge was rebuilt in 1937 using as much of the original structure as possible. Here guests may enjoy the quiet serenity of the North Rim while enjoying comfortable guest rooms and cabins. Our cabins were constructed in the 1930’s and 1940’s. While restrooms and showers have since been added, these cabins retain their original rustic charm. To this day, not one of the cabins has a television or radio. The Lodge Dining Room serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. It features regional cuisine; all-natural beef and poultry products are antibiotic and hormone free and the wine list showcases American organic selections available by the glass. Meanwhile the Gift Shop purveys Grand Canyon souvenirs, clothing and accessories. Free self-parking, bus, truck and RV parking are available. 2021 BattleBots World Championships

The hit TV show BattleBots, the world’s premier robot combat competition has found a new home in Las Vegas and tickets to be part of the live audience are on sale now. Robots from around the globe will convene to battle for the highly-anticipated 2021 BattleBots World Championship, which takes place inside the iconic BattleBox arena at Caesar’s Entertainment Studios on Aug. 23 through Sept. 4. Fans will witness world-class fighting machines and the very best domestic and international bots battling to the death in the hopes of being crowned the 2021 BattleBots World Champion. Presented by returning hosts Chris Rose and Kenny Florian, the sixth season of the popular show will air on Discovery Channel later this year.

More than 65 teams from the United States, Europe, Asia and South America will travel to Las Vegas with their fighting machines to slug it out in a series of battles to the death. The ultimate winner will take home the greatest prize in the sport: The Giant Nut, which is currently held by New Zealand’s End Game. The audience will witness the awesome spectacle of robot-on-robot, gear-grinding mayhem and see their favorite bots including Whiplash, Witch Doctor, Hydra, Blacksmith, Minotaur, End Game and Sawblaze. Also fighting this season is local favorite Jackpot, built by Las Vegas local Jeff Waters who had a record of 3-1 but lost in the Round of 32 in season five. He’s back this season to win the battle for Las Vegas.

There will be two ticketed sessions per day, culminating in the crowning of the 2021 BattleBots World Champion on Sept. 4. Dark days for the live show take place on Aug. 25, 26, 30 and Sept. 1.

BattleBots

BattleBots is the world leader in robot fighting sports. For over 20 years BattleBots has brought the joy of glorious robot fighting to TV and live audiences around the world.

BattleBots remains the most popular robotic combat sport in the world, created by Ed Roski and Greg Munson and now seen in over 150 countries. Produced by BattleBots, Inc. and Whalerock Industries, executive producers are Chris Cowan, Edward (Trey) Roski, Greg Munson, Tom Gutteridge, Aaron Catling and Evan Gatica. For Discovery Channel, Scott Lewers, Joseph Boyle and Wyatt Channell serve as executive producers, and Paola Espinosa as associate producer.

Las Vegas’ Own Team Jackpot

With the home field advantage this year, Team Jackpot co-creators Jeff Waters and Robert Stehn fully intend to keep the Giant Nut in Vegas. Waters discovered robotics as a kid by watching the original BattleBots and even created his own arena in his garage and began hosting small competitions. Eventually, Waters and Stehn sought to grow the robotics community in Las Vegas and created Vegas Combat Robots – their own robotics club. Jackpot is a weapon-focused robot with a dual vertical blade spinner called the Double Diamond. Team Jackpot has stayed true to their Vegas aesthetic by incorporating slot machine pull arms for the self-righter system and bottom-lit Lexan panels. They hold a season 5 record of 3-1 after being knocked out in Round 32.

SWEET SIN by Claude Escamilla Opens at the Linq Promenade

Award-winning, internationally acclaimed pastry chef Claude Escamilla has opened an entirely reimagined pastry shop, SWEET SIN by Claude Escamilla, at The LINQ Promenade. With an enormous, handcrafted chocolate fountain as its centerpiece, the location represents the first eponymous European-style pastry shop for Escamilla, who previously served as executive pastry chef on the Las Vegas Strip for 17 years. SWEET SIN by Claude Escamilla is situated between the entrance to The LINQ Hotel + Experience and Chayo Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar on the Promenade.

SWEET SIN by Claude Escamilla boasts new décor, featuring a sleek, white pastry display case handcrafted in Italy and a brilliantly polished, towering chocolate fountain custom-made by elite artisans in France. The chocolate fountain is composed of three, 7-inch-diameter, curvilinear pipes that cross the ceiling, culminating in three taps behind the pastry case. Each tap dispenses a different, irresistible variety of confectionaries—dark chocolate, white chocolate or caramel—which is poured before customers’ eyes onto menu items such as crepes, chocolate-dipped strawberries and hot chocolate.

From the ceiling, more than 50 whisk-shaped pendant lights hang suspended above guests as they browse the shop’s offerings. Adorning the walls are cheerful polka dots in bright hues of raspberry, tangerine, lemon, lime, turquoise and plum, as well as playful phrases spelled out in neon script. Meanwhile, an elaborate, rotating case displays an artistic assortment of 400 handmade macarons in every color of the rainbow, as well as sweet souvenirs and other SWEET SIN by Claude Escamilla merchandise.

In addition to macarons and crepes, the shop offers 13 flavors of gelato, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, sweet and savory pastries, a tempting array of homemade European desserts and traditional coffee beverages as well as cold brew coffee on draft.

SWEET SIN by Claude Escamilla elevates the typical pastry shop concept to a new level with the addition of the crowd-pleasing chocolate fountain, and we are excited for our guests to stop by and enjoy the shop’s unique offerings,” said Tonia Chafetz, General Manager of The LINQ Promenade.

“This pastry shop represents my dream come true,” adds Escamilla. “It incorporates years of imagination and planning, and I am grateful to see my vision come true and share it with everyone who visits The LINQ Promenade.”

Escamilla grew up in the south of France, where he began his pastry arts career while studying at La Chambre des Metiers in Perpignan. He graduated with a professional aptitude certificate in 1995 and a master’s degree in pastry in 1998. During school, he regularly interned with renowned French chefs and spent weekends creating pastries in his father’s bakery. While still in France, he gained further experience developing pastries and menus for a large-scale catering company and decorating for a pastry shop helmed by one of France’s most celebrated pastry chefs.

In 1999, Escamilla arrived in Las Vegas, where he worked as assistant pastry chef at Bellagio, before being promoted to assistant executive pastry chef for the resort and overseeing all pastry shop production and 65 employees. In 2009, he became executive pastry chef for Bellagio Patisserie and Aria Patisserie, where he managed 115 employees spanning the kitchen and front-of-house locations.

In addition to holding executive roles at top-tier patisseries, Escamilla’s career includes several national and international championship titles. He is a two-time World Pastry Champion and two-time U.S. Pastry Champion, and he was named one of the Top Ten Pastry Chefs in America by Pastry Arts Design magazine and Pastry Chef of the Year by the Nevada Restaurant Association.
