Born and raised in Brooklyn, Victoria Konefal knew she wanted to be an actress at the age of seven. Her journey into the entertainment industry began in the fourth grade when she went on a class trip to see an off-Broadway production of The Hobbit. During the show, she was so captivated that her mother had to keep her from standing up to join the performance. After the curtain closed, they sought out the director who invited her to audition for a production of The South Pacific. She quickly booked the role and went on to perform with the theater company for six years. In an effort to hone her craft, Konefal attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia Performing Arts High School in New York City where prestigious actors such as Ansel Elgort, Timothee Chalamet, Jennifer Aniston, Adrien Brody, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Al Pacino, Sarah Paulson, Adrian Grenier and Liza Minnelli also studied. Shortly after graduation, she made the decision to move to Los Angeles to pursue acting full-time.

Konefal’s big break came when she was cast asCiara Brady, the daughter of power couple Bo and Hope, on the Emmy-winning soap opera Days of Our Lives. A fierce young woman who has overcome issues with the law and her parents tumultuous relationship, Ciara is making her mark on Salem as she matures. Konefal’s portrayal of Ciara earned her a 2019 Daytime Emmy nomination in the Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series category. Other television credits include dramatic performances in the Lifetime movies The Wrong Crush alongside Vivica A. Fox and Lesli Kay as well as Deadly Exchange with fellow soap actress Lindsay Hartley. She was also seen with a guest role on the hit ABC comedy Modern Family. In addition to her work on the small screen, Konefal brought her talent to the world of film in Circus Kane, opposite Jonathan Lipnicki. She will further showcase her acting chops in the upcoming horror thriller Fog City.

When she is not busy acting, Konefal enjoys working out, traveling, camping, hiking, biking, and writing music. She loves to be outdoors enjoying nature and a good game of basketball or softball. A passionate environmental advocate, she lends her support to organizations dedicated to conserving our planet. Konefal currently resides in Los Angeles with her beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Lola.

From 2005 to 2013, Joe Coss – singer/songwriter/guitarist for the Long Island based band Liquid Phase spent his days traveling from Long Island to downtown New York City to work as the Lead Mechanical Engineer on the new World Trade Center. His journey is chronicled in the band’s song “Bright Colors”, now available as a remastered single on Spotify and all the major services.

“Bright Colors” is an infectiously upbeat song which brings to light Coss’s love for both the city whose most triumphant landmark he’s had the privilege of erecting to the oceanside oasis that is Montauk, NY. This comes to light in the songs lyrics “See a row of purple roses live on the oceanfront // And the cliffs of Earth eroding slower than we have fun // When I climbed up the iron ladder the sky was the bluest one // Looking out as our friends were leaving just as the keg was done” and coming full-circle with “Look West as the sun sets, castle stands in our way // Out East there’s an orange moonrise, radar’s aimed our way”.

The band was invited by Brickell to rehearse in Simon’s home studio in Montauk while Joe also worked on Guitar Lead’s and Charts with Edie before receiving a prized gift – Edie’s custom Orange Electric Tom Anderson Guitar.

Liquid Phase, the NYC Rock Band from Montauk, is a five piece rock outfit featuring Coss on Vocals and Guitar, Jamie Grubb on Keyboards, Dan Zellan on Guitar and Vocals, Johnny Molinari on Bass, and Steve Collins on Drums. The band brought its diverse blend of colorful laid-back surf and skate beach music as well as its hard hitting electric rock and alternative sound to stages across the U.S., opening for guitar legend Slash of Guns n’ Roses and famed Southern Rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd.

NEW STEM CELL STUDY

A new study released today in STEM CELLS outlines how fat grafting – which previous studies have shown can reduce and even reverse fibrosis (scar tissue) buildup – also improves the range of motion of the affected limb. The study, conducted by researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine, was conducted on mice.

The tumor-destroying capabilities of radiation therapy can be a life saver for a person suffering from cancer. But it’s a therapy that has several unwanted side effects, too, including causing substantial damage not just to cancerous cells, but any healthy tissue in its path. Over time, fibrosis builds up in the treated area which, in the case of an arm, shoulder, or leg, for example, can lead to painful contractures that significantly limit extensibility and negatively impact the person’s quality of life.

The Stanford team irradiated the right hind legs of subject mice, which resulted in chronic fibrosis and limb contracture. Four weeks later, the irradiated limbs of one group of the mice were injected with fat enriched with stromal vascular cells (SVCs). These potent cells already naturally exist in fat, but supplementation of fat with additional SVCs enhances its regenerative capabilities. A second group was injected with fat only, a third group with saline and a fourth group received no injections, for comparison. The animals’ ability to extend their limb was then measured at baseline and every two weeks for a 12-week period. At the end of the 12 weeks, the hind limb skin underwent histological analysis and biomechanical strength testing.

“Each animal showed significant reduction in its limb extension ability due to the radiation, but this was progressively rescued by fat grafting,” reported corresponding author Derrick C. Wan, M.D., FACS. Fat grafting also reduced skin stiffness and reversed the radiation-induced histological changes in the skin.

“The greatest benefits were found in mice injected with fat enriched with SVCs,” Dr. Wan added. “SVCs are easily obtained through liposuction and can be coaxed into different tissue types, where they can support neovascularization, replace cells and repair injured issue.

“Our study showed the ability of fat to improve mobility as well as vascularity and appearance,” he continued. “We think this holds enormous clinical potential — especially given that adipose tissue is abundant and can be easily collected from the patients themselves — and underscores an attractive approach to address challenging soft tissue fibrosis in patients following radiation therapy.”

Furthermore, said co-author and world-renowned breast reconstructive expert Arash Momeni, M.D., FACS, “Our observations are potentially translatable to a variety of challenging clinical scenarios. Being able to reverse radiation-induced effects holds promise to substantially improve clinical outcomes in implant-based as well as autologous breast reconstruction. The study findings are indeed encouraging as they could offer patients novel treatment modalities for debility clinical conditions.

“Excessive scarring is a challenging problem that is associated with a variety of clinical conditions, such as burn injuries, tendon lacerations, etc. The potential to improve outcomes based on treatment modalities derived from our research is indeed exciting,” Dr. Momeni added.

“Skin and soft tissue scarring and fibrosis are well-established problems after radiation. The current study, showing that human fat grafting can normalize the collagen networks and improve tissue elasticity in immune deficient mice, provides molecular evidence for how fat grafting functions,” said Dr. Jan Nolta, Editor-in-Chief of STEM CELLS. “The studies indicate that, with the appropriate regulatory approvals, autologous fat grafting could potentially also help human patients recover from radiation-induced tissue fibrosis.”

Sublingual CBD products generally have high bioavailability.

Duration of Effect

It typically takes 15–30 minutes to feel the effects of a CBD tincture, and the effects are known to last between 4–6 hours, though it is partially a factor of how potent a dose is taken.

Ingested CBD, either using edibles or capsules, takes a bit longer to have an effect, but the results will also last longer, compared to other methods of taking CBD. This is because when CBD products are ingested, it takes a while for them to be digested and then processed by the liver before making it to the bloodstream. Once they are in the bloodstream, you can start to feel their effects.

Convenience

Finding a CBD oil product that is convenient for you to use will determine its effectiveness. You needn’t make a trek to the store to buy CBD oil, as there are a plethora of online retailers with all the products at your fingertips.

The new Jaguar F-TYPE has completed its journey from sketchpad to showroom with a unique tour – in Hot Wheels® model form – of the Jaguar Design Studio.

The 1:64 scale sports car model, complete with perfectly recreated black and white camouflage wrap, navigated 25 loop-the-loops, three gravity-defying jumps and 44 corners along the 232-metre long Hot Wheels orange track laid out around the studio.

On the way, it raced from a design review of original sketches, past digital renderings, colour and materials samples and a clay model, revealing the details of new F-TYPE’s purposeful, beautiful and timeless design before coming to rest beside the real thing.

Julian Thomson, Design Director, Jaguar, said:

“As a designer and huge car enthusiast, Hot Wheels models have been a part of my life since childhood. They capture the imagination, make owning the car of your dreams a reality, and give you the first opportunity to actually ‘drive’ a car. We are used to creating models in clay but seeing such a finely-detailed 1:64-scale model of the new F-TYPE race around the studio, showcasing every stage in our design process, was a truly unique experience.”

Working in close collaboration, designers from Jaguar and Hot Wheels used the CAD data of the real car to craft the precise 3D-printed model, recreating every beautiful detail of the new F-TYPE, including its striking new clamshell bonnet, distinctive super-slim Pixel LED headlights and more sculpted front and rear bumpers.

Where the model relied purely on gravity to accelerate it up to speed, the new Jaguar F-TYPE is available with a range of powerful and efficient engines: a 300PS turbocharged four-cylinder, 380PS supercharged V6, and 450PS and 575PS supercharged V8s. The latter is exclusive to the new F-TYPE R and, combined with all-wheel drive, delivers truly extraordinary performance in all gears and in all conditions. Launching from 0-60mph takes just 3.5 seconds.

The tiny F-TYPE reached scale speeds of up to 300mph along the custom-built track which was designed and developed with the guidance of Official Hot Wheels master track designer Paul Schmid.
