New Music Video for GASHI – Mama × Sting

GASHI and 17-time Grammy Award winner, Sting release the music video for their track “Mama” today (watch HERE). The Edgar Esteves (G-Eazy, Chris Brown, Davido) directed video sees a young GASHI watching Sting in admiration. As the video continues he grows up finding himself achieving his dreams while inspiring the next generation that anything is possible.

The track is featured on his sophomore album 1984 and has features from Sting, Pink Sweat$, Njomza, Rose Gold, Diamond Café and Devault. Listen to the whole album HERE.

Rileyy Lanez – Marry Me

Today, Rileyy Lanez has shared the official video for her song “Marry Me.” Watch HERE. Filmed in Rileyy’s hometown of NYC, the visual was directed by Erik Rojas and showcases various couples going through ups and downs, but never wavering in their commitment to one another.

“Marry Me” is lifted from Rileyy’s debut EP Beautiful Mistakes, which was released in May of this year. The 5-track project also includes “Foul Play,” “Left 4 Me,” “I’m Leaving,” and “I Had U.”  Listen HERE.

Aston Martin DB5 Junior: A New Generation

Aston Martin and The Little Car Company today announce the DB5 Junior, a two-thirds scale electric junior car. Developed over the last 15 months as a collaboration between the two companies, the junior car is based on Aston Martin’s reference 3D scan of an original DB5 to ensure complete accuracy and authenticity.

DB5 Junior Specifications 

At around 3m long, and 1.1m wide, the DB5 Junior is designed to easily accommodate an adult and a child side by side, to allow different generations to share the love of driving. The aluminium honeycomb chassis and composite body provide a very rigid platform whilst keeping the total weight down to around 270kg. Powered by a torque-laden electric powertrain delivering 5kW / 6.7 bhp to the rear wheels, the drivers will be grateful for the integrated bucket seat as they accelerate to the 30mph top speed.

Absolute authenticity was key throughout the development of the vehicle. For example, the DB5 Junior sports the same iconic Aston Martin ‘wings’, ‘shield’ and DB5 badges as the original 1963 model. Like its big brother, the dashboard is filled with functional Smiths instruments, which have been cleverly updated for the modern era. The fuel gauge has been converted into a battery meter, while the oil temperature now monitors the motor temperature. Finally, the same Smiths clock as seen in the original 1960s car sits proudly in front of the passenger seat.

A perfect two-thirds scale steering wheel sits in front of the dash, but now sports a racing-style quick release to make entry and exit easier for the driver. Power is regulated by billet aluminium accelerator and brake pedals, and as you would expect there are working headlights, brake lights, indicators and a horn.

In true DB5 style, the car comes in the famous Silver Birch colour as standard, with a full black leather interior and carpet set. There is even a boot / trunk at the rear for storage should you wish.

The car sits on double wishbone suspension at the front as per the original, with the roll centre and camber gain matching the original geometry. At the rear there is the period-correct live axle, with authentic upper and lower trailing arm suspension and Panhard rod.

Power is transmitted to the ground through 10” wire wheels with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, complemented by regenerative braking. A removable battery pack is stored under the opening bonnet, giving 10-20 miles (16-32km) driving range, depending on driving style. A second battery can be added, and each pack can be swapped for a replacement in a matter of seconds.

The junior car also has three integrated selectable driving modes:

  • A Novice mode with just 1kW / 1.3 bhp of power for less experienced drivers with a 12mph (19kmh) top speed. In this mode a remote kill switch is included allowing the car to be remotely disabled at up to 30m. And if an enthusiastic novice disappears outside that 30m range, the car will automatically shut down and come to a gentle halt.
  • An Expert mode is provided for more experienced drivers with 5kW / 6.7bhp of power and a 30mph (48kmh) top speed.
  • Finally Race mode is a “Balance of Performance” (BOP) setting which allows the acceleration and top speed of the vehicle to be aligned with other Little Car Company models for competition on an even playing field.

And finally, for the ultimate driving experience, a rally-style hydraulic handbrake is included. While strictly not necessary, it does add to the fun for the bigger kids amongst us.

Even more performance from the Vantage model

The Vantage version of the original DB5 was known for its performance upgrade. Now, the DB5 Vantage Junior takes the pace up a level, too. Whilst this elite model has the three driving modes of the standard car, there is also a fourth; Vantage mode, operated by a hidden ‘missile’ switch which doubles the power output to 10kW / 13.4bhp and increases the top speed to a still unconfirmed level. This output is now delivered to the wheels through a Limited-Slip Differential (LSD) to improve traction at high speed. Performance is further enhanced by the lightweight carbon fibre body and a second battery pack, doubling the range to 20-40 miles (32-64km) depending on driving style.

Revisiting an icon 

Owners will be invited to customise their DB5 Juniors either with a range of representative period exterior and interior colours or perhaps delve into Aston Martin’s contemporary palette, to match their full-size car. The cars will also come with a range of optional accessories including flight cases, additional batteries, covers, toolkits and custom number plates.

Every DB5 Junior owner will receive automatic membership of the respected Aston Martin Owners Club, three complete registers of the individual specification of all 1059 vehicles will be created for future provenance and authenticity. One copy will be held at Aston Martin’s Gaydon Headquarters, one at Aston Martin Works in Newport Pagnell (where the original DB5s were built) and one at The Little Car Company’s headquarters.

In addition, all clients will receive complimentary membership of The Little Car Club which allows them to take part in exclusive events where they, their children and grandchildren can drive their DB5 Juniors on the most prestigious racetracks.

Pricing for the DB5 Junior begins at £35,000 plus local taxes, while the more powerful DB5 Vantage Junior starts from £45,000 plus local taxes. Existing Aston Martin DB5 owners will be given first refusal on their DB5 Junior chassis number to match their full-size car.

Production commences in the UK in 2021, with deliveries taking place worldwide over the next two years. All final specifications to be confirmed before production commences.

Chaz Cardigan’s trip down memory lane unfolds like a futuristic fairy tale in the official video for his new single, “Middle of the Road.” View HERE. It’s the second in a surrealistic quadrilogy of videos produced by Haoyan of America (Crumb, Cautious Clay) that are based on a 3D model of Chaz. Created using photogrammetry in a virtual environment, the 3D figure was brought to life in the first video, “Everything’s Wrong,” and now continues on his journey in “Middle of the Road.”

The new video underscores the song’s theme of how choices made in the past set one’s future in motion. Chaz has made some bold choices in his life – including the decision to move from his hometown of Elizabethtown, KY to Nashville when he was only 17. He explains, “‘Middle of the Road’ came from ruminating on what my life would’ve been like if I’d stayed in my hometown. I realized I would’ve been miserable, stuck in a cycle of debt and probably addicted to something, pretending to be someone I’m not for the rest of my life.”

“The dance worthy, infectious, and fun track [‘Middle of the Road’] is the perfect anthem to blast, windows down, as we ride out the rest of the summer,” said Play Too Much. Q Review observed, “Chaz keeps delivering thoughtful music of strong perspective, sincere reflection and authentic honesty wrapped in sonic kick ass and punch.” RIFF Magazinecalls the track an “instant earworm” showcasing Chaz’s “artistic diversity and maturity.”

In its premiere of “Everything’s Wrong,” Flaunt said, “‘[the song] speaks volumes to the current state of the world. With the arrival of his acclaimed EP Vulnerabilia in early 2020, Chaz proved his talent for turning his deepest insecurities into wildly cathartic pop songs. Featuring the smash single “Not OK!” – a top 20 hit at Alternative radio – Vulnerabilia found Chaz opening up about his panic disorder while also building a high-energy but beautifully nuanced sound. His follow-up single, “S.O.S.,” was recently named as one of “The 25 Best Songs By LGBTQ Artists In 2020 (So Far)” by Billboard.

A classically trained pianist who taught himself to play guitar, bass, and drums, he got his start gigging in punk bands at the age of 11, covered classic songs in Louisville bars during his high-school years, and later produced in a Nashville hip-hop collective. In an interview with Rolling Stone,TM88 said the beats were roughly created in only 45 minutes while he worked with Lil Uzi Vert over FaceTime.

Disclosure ft. Kehlani & Syd – Birthday

So far this year, GRAMMY-nominated UK duo Disclosure have released three singles that went straight for the jugular in three very different ways – the carnival-infused “ENERGY”, the hip house aural assault of My High featuring Aminé and slowthai and the current globally unifying and uplifting soundtrack to the sunshine, “Douha (Mali Mali)”featuring Fatoumata Diawara – all of which showcase the versatility and innovation harnessed by these two young, London based songwriters and producers.

Now, with the release of their third album ENERGY, is “Birthday” featuring Kehlani & Syd. Taking the tempo down to a confident yet sultry swagger, “Birthday” digs deeper in an R&B sound that the brother’s brought to the forefront of their repertoire around their second album Caracal and in fact was one of the earliest tracks they completed during the sessions in LA and quickly made the cut for the new album ENERGYListen to “Birthday” feat. On the concept of the song, Howard explains: “Syd & I were going through a similar thing at the time, trying to work out if it was cool to call your ex to say hi or is it too awkward / mean to do so out of the blue?”

“It’s the oldest song on the album by far so has definitely stood the test of time and deservedly made the cut” adds Guy. “And the addition of Kehlani just took it to the next level and turned into a fire duet.”

Just last week Cercle invited Disclosure to perform a live DJ set from the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia. Produced and broadcast by Cercle in partnership with Amazon Music the live stream saw Disclosure play in the unique and magnificent setting of the Croatian National Park. The show aired via Cercle’s Facebook page with impressive live viewing figures and has since clocked up 2M views – watch back HERE. The full set will be available on YouTube tomorrow, August 27.

ARMED WHITE MILITIA VIOLENCE

Leading national racial justice organizational leaders issued a joint statement on armed white militia violence and police camaraderie with militia members following the arrest of a militia member in connection with the killing of two police accountability protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

“Tuesday night, two protesters who were advocating for accountability following the horrific police shooting of Jacob Blake were allegedly shot and killed by a 17-year-old associated with a white militia group. We are outraged by these killings. The ability of a minor to travel from another state at the urging of adult white supremacists organizing on Facebook highlights the corrosive and dangerous convergence of race, police violence, and the presence of these violent groups. That this volatile cocktail was allowed to develop led directly to one of the most violent nights in the city’s history. In light of the fact that the suspect apparently crossed state lines in order to commit this crime, the federal government should launch an investigation to determine whether he was involved in an interstate criminal conspiracy.
“We are equally outraged by videos showing Kenosha Police Department Officers exhibiting camaraderie toward militia members – who were out in violation of the curfew before the shootings — and also seemingly ignoring protesters who tried to identify the shooter in this incident. Police solidarity with white militia members is abhorrent and intolerable – and it represents a highly dangerous threat to the lives and rights of people of color. In addition, the fact that Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis blamed protestors for the killings is another example of the racially disparate treatment that Americans across the country have been protesting against since May and for decades before. We call on Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul, to immediately investigate and prosecute these killings, the shooting of Mr. Blake, and the increasingly pervasive issue of armed white militia members confronting and attacking protesters demanding police accountability. They must also demand the immediate removal of Chief Miskinis.

“Finally, turning to Facebook, the prevalence of armed white militia groups organizing on the platform is not new. Facebook must also be held accountable for its inaction while these violent groups have been allowed to grow and organize. Facebook must take immediate steps to ensure that its platform is not used to foment violence and hatred — and to take immediate and comprehensive action to put an end to groups using its services to organize activities that perpetuate racism and cause harm.”

Benjamin Moore × National Trust – Celebrate Women’s Heritage

This year, as the nation marks the 100thanniversary of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote, Benjamin Moore, North America’s favorite paint, color and coatings brand, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation are celebrating this historic milestone with a new program focused on the preservation of sites in America where women from all walks of life have made history. Together, Benjamin Moore and the National Trust identified sites rooted in women’s history and will help restore these places to their former glory.

The Collaboration

The collaboration is part of the National Trust’s multi-year campaign entitled, “Where Women Made History,” dedicated to uncovering and amplifying the powerful, but often overlooked, role of women and their impact on our nation’s history. The campaign’s objective is to bring new resources and attention to women’s history sites. Therefore, galvanizing support for the preservation of these places and inspiring a new generation of 21st century women.

Working together since 2017, this expanded relationship between Benjamin Moore and the National Trust will utilize a hands-on approach to the preservation of sites associated with women’s heritage. Throughout the year, we’ll collaborate with various stakeholders, from painting contractors to historians, to repaint sections of these properties. In addition to donating premium paints, including selections from its Historical Color Collection, Benjamin Moore brings unprecedented color expertise gleaned from its more than 135 years of experience in the paint business. The stunning results of each site’s transformation will be showcased through “before and after” pictures and videos.

For more than a century, Benjamin Moore has been helping Americans revitalize and improve places with their quality products, and I can think of no better partner as we work together to preserve the iconic American places where women made history.”

Benjamin Moore and the National Trust have kicked off this year-long collaboration with two inaugural sites on the West Coast of the United States and will identify additional locations over the next several months.

Initial project sites include:

  • The Women’s Building, San Francisco, CA. An incubator for emerging Bay Area women’s projects, The Women’s Building’s colorful mural façade depicts the power and contributions of women throughout history and the world. Benjamin Moore will work alongside the National Trust to enhance the grand staircase that showcases the building’s colorful mural. Also, the mural makes its way from outside, into the heart of the building.
  • Odd Fellows Building, Astoria, OR. Owned by three women, the Odd Fellows Building has served the local community for more than 90 years. Located in the port city of Astoria, the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies, the Odd Fellows Building was the first structure rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1923. Today, the building houses all women owned businesses and is a flourishing center for local dance, performing arts and physical education classes that enhance, inspire and involve the local community.
