âGirl Of Your Dreamsâ is a headrush of spiky energy that sits somewhere between pop perfection and a classic stadium rocker. The track is defined by a reckless sense of momentum, seamlessly merging alt-rock and pop sensibilities to create a sound that is unmistakably Dylan. Honed into its current form by months on the road, it is the product of a popstar who truly understands the power of live performance.Â
âGirl of Your Dreams is very simple and straight to the point.â notes Dylan. âThe day I wrote it, I was feeling a lot of frustration towards someone who sadly had absolutely no interest in me. Ultimately, they hadnât done anything wrong, so instead of writing a âscrew youâ song, I wrote a âwant me!â song.Â
Fresh off of a UK stadium tour in support of Ed Sheeran, which included five sold out shows at Londonâs Wembley Stadium â Dylan might only be at the beginning of her journey as one of the UKâs most exciting new pop talents, but sheâs had her sights set on big things since her childhood.Â
Raised on a diet of classic rock and big riffs, she spent her early years atop her kitchen table, plywood guitar in hand. âI would stand there and shout, âhello Wembley!â â thatâs how I started a gig with my band when I was 11 too.â, she recalls.
The 22-year-old â whose real name is Tash Woods â might be destined for pop glory, but the influence of more alternative sounds colours her tongue-in-cheek characterisation of herself as âa wannabe rock star in a pop starâs bodyâ. Since 2019, sheâs been on a journey to find her own voice, moving through more electronic-focused, synth-pop songs (âGood Enoughâ) and mournful piano ballads (âIKWYDLNâ).Â
After two EPs, 2021 brought three singles in âNineteenâ, âYouâre Not Harry Stylesâ and âNo Romeoâ that started to shape the real Dylan sound â big pop hooks driven by crunchy guitars, candid dissections of her life and loves into incisive, memorable lyrics.Â
That candidness is part of what has already scored her praise from the likes of Notion, MTV, Vogue Italia, The Line Of Best Fit and BBC Introducing; UK support slots with Yungblud, Bastille, Ed Sheeran and an EU run with Tate McRae; inspiring an incredibly loyal and passionate fanbase to form around her.Â
As she looks toward a summer of festival performances, a sold out UK headline tour and a steady stream of impeccable pop anthems, Dylan looks destined to continue hooking people into her world, rapidly expanding that fanbase in a big way. As it does so, sheâs keeping her ambitions fittingly bold. âI want to be respected as a songwriter â for me it really is just about the music,â she explains. âAnd I want to headline Wembley â thatâs everything Iâve had my sights on.âÂ
