Malachiii – Love Me

MALACHIII CONFRONTS HARD QUESTIONS ON DEBUT MOTOWN SINGLE & VIDEO LOVE ME

LISTEN HERE

WATCH HERE

Today, rising singer, rapper, songwriter and producer Malachiii opens his heart with the release of Love Me, his debut single with Motown Records. Listen HERE. On the track, the 25-year-old Southern California artist asks the burning questions that arise when you’re coming of age and falling in love: Will you be there when it rains, when it snows? / Will you be there when I’m out of control? Watch the video HERE.

The first verse subtly draws listeners inward with lo-fi trap vibes and Malachiii’s softly delivered bars, building momentum before his voice starts to soar. The chorus gets vulnerable as he declares that he doesn’t want a partner’s adoration just to feed his ego, he needs love and support to ease his mind.

Everything about this song feels so timely and full-circle. In a literal sense, it represents need to have someone that will take me as I am and love me unconditionally through this rollercoaster that is my life, says Malachiii, Symbolically, it represents the new journey ahead and all of the unknowns that come with launching my career as an artist and sharing my art with the world in the ways that I’ve always dreamed of.

This new song marks a transitional moment in Malachiii’s life and career. Although Love Me isn’t his first solo single, he dropped the brash rap cut WYM?! last September, it’s a bold step forward in terms of both artistic maturity and scale. It’s his first release on Motown, hallowed ground for truly emotional songwriters. This follows him signing a publishing deal with Electric Feel. But now, with the release of Love Me, Malachiii is demonstrating what’s truly special about his own music, showing the world his truest self, and preparing for his songs to start resonating around the world.

About Malachiii

Malachiii knows joy. Over the last few years, the young singer, rapper, and producer from Southern California has demonstrated an affection for elastic flows, buoyant rhythms, and melodies lit by a magic-hour glow. This ecstatic energy has made his take on pop, rap, and R&B infectious, but what makes it most special is his willingness to engage in heavy themes with a maturity and grace that belies his age. On songs like Love Me, his debut single with Motown Records, he sings and spits grinning bars, but he also ponders big questions. He’s come to understand that while his ultimate goal is to emit love, light, positivity, and good vibes, it’s most important to stay true to the real depths of his experience, even if it’s not always sunshine and rainbows. Malachiii grew up with the urge to perform, but it was after going on tour with GRAMMY-winning composer AR Rahman at the age of 14 that he felt inspired to write and produce his own music. Over the years, his ability to translate relatable emotions into hooks earned him a publishing deal with Electric Feel (Post Malone, Iann Dior, 24KGoldn), which only bolstered his writing and producing efforts. Now, beginning with Love Me, he’s stepping into the spotlight in his own right, with the hope that his artistry will continue to resonate with listeners. There’s very few people who have a transcendent impact on music, humanity, and culture as a whole, he says. That’s the type of artist I want to be.

THE RISING DEMAND FOR LIFE ON THE SEA

Private residence ships on the rise appealing to record numbers of remote workers

Condos on residential yachts and ships increasing in popularity as people look for new ways to live and work

People have more flexibility to work and study remotely than ever before, causing a sudden demand for apartments on residential yachts and ships. As travel resumes, many are making new lifestyle choices rather than returning to the daily grind. While pre-pandemic digital nomads embraced travel as a lifestyle, they found the jet lag and living out of a suitcase to be wearisome. Condo ships claim to have the answer: unpack once and travel the world from the comfort of home. There are several residential ships on the horizon. Here’s an overview of what’s on the market.

‘Narrative’ by Storylines is a new-build, liquid natural gas (LNG) powered ship launching in 2024. The ship is 741’ long with 533 residences. The smallest condominiums available at press time start at 237 sq ft and go for $360k for a 12-year lease, with annual fees of $60k. The largest units currently available are 1,529 sq ft condos and can be purchased for $7.7M with annual fees of $205k. Fees include housekeeping, laundry, meals, beverages, medical visits and spa services. With green technologies, a hydroponic garden and a zero-waste market, it will be one of the most environmentally sustainable ships at sea. The itinerary is focused on leisurely circumnavigating the globe every three-and-a-half years with 3-5 days in most ports. The ship has office space for remote workers and an education program for families with kids. For people who want to pay a reasonable amount on a new ship with a diverse community, more time in ports, and don’t mind waiting, this ship is an excellent option.

The World’ by ResidenSea was launched in 2002. At 643 feet with 165 residences, there is plenty of room for the select few ultra-high net worth individuals on board. The smallest 290 sq ft flats start at $2M and the largest residences are in excess of $10M. The annual fees range from $150k-$1M which does not include food and beverages. Many of the larger residences have full kitchens. With a full-sized tennis court at sea and a putting green, there is plenty to love about this ship, but the main appeal is that it’s already in the water. Potential residents must also have a land-based residence and a minimum $10M net worth. For those who meet the criteria, are okay with a 20-year-old oil burning ship and are itching to launch their lifestyle at sea immediately, this is an excellent, well-established option.

Njord’ by Ocean Residences is the top of the line. It’s a brand new, LNG powered ship with all the latest green technologies. Delivery is expected in 2024. At 925 feet with just 118 residences, it’s no wonder the units start at $8M for the smallest 1,249 sq ft two-bedroom apartments. All of the residences have full kitchens, a rare amenity in this market. Expect a lot of over-the-top perks, with not one but two helicopters, a 5-star PADI dive center, Quadrofoil, observatory, crew to resident ratio of 2:1, limo tenders, scientific research laboratories, and butler suites that you can rent for your private butler, nanny or nurse. For ultra-high net worth individuals who don’t mind a homogeneous demographic and are looking for a newer and more environmentally sustainable ship than ‘The World,’ this one is worth the wait.

‘Blue World’ by Blue World Voyages is refurbishing a ship that’s approximately 700’ long and 20 years old. The ship has 40 residences and 225 cabins and hopes to launch in 2021. The one-bedroom 800 sq ft units are $2.35M and the two-bedroom 1,200 sq ft units are $3.35M. The annual fees range between $200k-$300k. As with all older ships, it will burn either marine diesel or heavy bunker fuel. There are no cooking facilities for residents. With a focus on fitness, the ship dedicates a full deck for sports and boasts a seawater lap pool. The itinerary is somewhat restricted to Europe and Latin America due to its primary use as a tourist cruise ship, with no plans for global circumnavigation. For fitness enthusiasts who don’t mind sharing their ship with a high turnover of younger people coming and going every week, and who are hoping to start this lifestyle sooner rather than later, this company has an established founder (‘The World’) and could be an excellent fit.

‘Utopia’ by Utopia Residences has been in development for at least 12 years (ordered in 2009) and the launch date has been delayed multiple times. It was designed to be 971 ft long with 190 residences and 206 hotel suites. The smallest 1,439 sq ft residences started at $3.9M and the largest 6,143 sq ft residence was $36M. It had a paddle tennis court, rock climbing wall and outdoor movie screen, as well as ‘wine and fur storage’. An itinerary was planned which involved crisscrossing the globe to world events such as Wimbledon, Carnival, America’s Cup, Running of the Bulls and Cannes Film Festival. For people who prefer the traditional architectural style of the ship and its interiors and don’t mind visiting crowded places, this ship might be an option someday.

Slavvy – How You Livin’

Miami-based producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Slavvy (aka Rostislav Vaynshtok) has returned with his euphonious new single and video “How You Livin“. It‘s the second installment from his forthcoming, thematic EP entitled “Romantic“, due out in the fall. The single builds on brooding nihilism seen in the previous single/video “Lavender“, which channeled Slavvy‘s hedonistic alter-ego, delving into themes of infidelity.

“How You Livin“ seamlessly blends a melange of genres from dream-pop, R&B, and elements of hip-hop into a moody, atmospheric soundscape reminiscent of the eclectic sounds of The Weeknd and Kanye West. Led by ambient, 80s inspired synths backed a pulsating trap beat, “How You Livin“ serves as an introspective deep dive into Slavvy‘s player persona, which he explores leaving no stone unturned. “Talk that sh*t“ anyway that you need to. Slavvy sings to a love interest with a sense of bravado showcased in his nonchalant delivery.

“How You Livin is full tilt braggadocio. You‘re the person, it‘s you. You‘re player one and life is a game, there’s nothing in your way. I was really feeling myself when I wrote this one, this is peak Slavvy, just shit talking, loving life,“ said Slavvy.

Paired with compelling, hyper-stylized visuals, each single from the Romantic EP serves as a semi-autobiographical piece of the puzzle in Slavvy‘s not-so-conventional love story. Much like his “Lavender“ single, the “How You Livin” music video draws on the surreal artistry and neon color palettes of the vaporwave aesthetic. Directed by Slavvy himself, the “How You Livin“ visual features cinematic shots of fast cars (an epic Dodge Challenger) and underground crime against stunning overhead views of the Miami nightlife.

“How You Livin“ is Slavvy‘s second release of the year in an exciting chapter of sonic exploration following the veteran producer‘s return to the music industry after some timeout of the spotlight. Prior to his work under moniker Slavvy, Vaynshtok was known under his acclaimed artist project AbdeCaf, who in the early 2010s tore up the US EDM festival circuit with performances at Electric Zoo, Northcoast, and Counterpoint. Stay tuned for more music from Slavvy very soon.

About Slavvy

Rostislav Vaynshtok, colloquially known by his childhood nickname Slavvy, has been making music for over a decade. Following the local success of his teenage band Fight Like Animals, he formed the solo project AbdeCaf in 2012, which saw him signing to the prestigious William Morris Endeavor for touring and performing at some of the biggest music festivals in North America. Following the critical acclaim of his first two EPs as AbdeCaf: “Unravel” and “Rebuild”, Vaynshtok quietly faded out of the limelight for several years before re-emerging in 2014 as Mystvries.

During his time as Mystvries, he was able to continue a run of national and local collaborations that saw him selling out two live scorings with the Miami Jewish Film Festival. Mystvries brand of 80s soaked, Drive soundtrack inspired, synth-wave, saw him accumulating over 250,000 streams and downloads between Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Soundcloud, and Bittorrent bundle released via his own Bribery Corporation record label. Now, he returns with his most personal and transparent project to date, Slavvy.

Slavvy’s Romantic EP marks the first time the artist ventures away from strictly being a producer, and finally showcases his talent as a songwriter, arranger, and vocalist. Collaborating heavily with Russian producer Sighost (nee Sergey Malakhov), Slavvy is crafting a Drake/ 40 or Weeknd/ Daheala relationship with Sighost who co-produces the vast majority of Slavvy’s crooning. Slavvy’s EP is a collection of midnight music made for the witching hour, soundtracking your drunken texts to exes that could predicate romance or ruin.

American Authors – Nice and Easy Acoustic Version

This summer, pop rock trio American Authors released the perfect summer anthem “Nice and Easy“ with Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray. they shared an all-new acoustic version with an arrangement reminiscent of their earlier music that brings clarity to their upbeat, always positive message. A stripped down version of the song gives listeners the opportunity to hear “Nice and Easy“ at its deeper core. Lead vocalist Zac Barnett explains, “Even though ‘Nice And Easy‘ plays into the 90s rock we grew up on, we wanted to make a version that showed off the band‘s folk side. Stripping it down to banjo, guitar, and voice shows off the essence of American Authors.”

“The song,“ Zac adds, “is a reminder to slow it down and get back to the basics of living life to your full potential.“

Just a few days ago, American Authors released a remix of the track featuring Guy Fieri, who brought a comically irresistible new element to the tune.

Earlier this month, American Authors even performed the original single on Kelly and Ryan as part of the show‘s 4th of July weekend celebration. In an interview with the talk show hosts, the guys shared what they’ve been up to since the pandemic put a pause on touring nearly a year ago.

Over the last year, the trio have been creating new music as they take control of the output now as an independent band. Since their early success, American Authors have already amassed 1 billion-plus streams, received both multi-platinum and gold plaques, and had sold out shows across the globe. Now, with the current lineup composed of Zac, Dave Rublin [bass, keys], and Matt Sanchez [drums], they are finding their way back to the heart of what brought them together at the beginning.

With what feels like an homage to their early music, “‘NiceAnd Easy‘ is the most ‘American Authors’ song we‘ve released in a long time,“ Zac points out. “Not only did we write and produce the song completely ourselves, but we really wanted to make something fun while keeping our signature message of hope.”

As they continue their tunnel-visioned yet organic approach with music, fans can expect more music to come in the near future from the Boston-bred, NYC-based group. Stay tuned. American Authors have a positive message they want to share with fans everywhere.

“When you listen to us, the goal is for you to leave feeling hopeful and in a better mood,“ Zac insists. “The main thing we want is for you to go out and have fun. After the past year, I can see how much this band represents friendship, compassion, and good vibes all around. It‘s a message of hope, man.“

QUEEN THE GREATEST

A celebration of 50 of the greatest moments from the Queen story so far.

A 50-week YouTube series celebrating key moments in Queen’s history reminding us why Queen and their music continue to beloved across the world.

Episode 20: “1980: Queen At The Movies Take 1: Flash Gordon”

An unusual venture sees Queen take on a movie soundtrack, with the band determined that the resulting album should be as musically rewarding as their previous ones. Brian and Roger describe how this exciting project came about and broke new ground.

“I think we were quite well ahead of the game there.” – Roger Taylor

“Oh, its not going to work for my film.” – Dino De Laurentiis, Producer

Queen The Greatest Episodes 1-19 Out Now Here.

The Greatest, the journey through the Queen story so far celebrating their biggest songs, performances and achievements, this week looks back at a fascinating new departure for the band.

For what would be the band’s ninth studio album, this would also be a first for them, their first movie soundtrack. It is, of course, Flash Gordon. For a band given to aural spectacular, it seemed a perfect fit although producer Dino De Laurentiis did have his moment of doubt.

In 1980, work on Flash began in tandem with the recording sessions for The Game, but while this would obviously represent something of a departure for the band, they were determined to make it as much a Queen album as their previous ones.

Set against some rare footage of the band live performing “Flash” to image track in London’s Advision Studios, Brian and Roger explain how the project came about.

Roger Taylor: “It was an interesting offer really from (producer) Dino De Laurentiis, and Joe Smith, head of Elektra Records, engineered the whole thing really. And, it was interesting actually, because the film was a big hit in Europe and UK, and flopped completely in America.”

Brian May: “But it became a cult video thing later on. I feel pretty proud of the Flash thing, because really this was the first time that a rock soundtrack had actually been put to a movie which wasnt about rock music.

“There was a lot of resistance to it, a lot of people said it wouldnt work, including Dino. When he first heard it, he went “oh, its not going to work for my film,” the idea of the rock music being in there. But he pretty soon became accustomed to the idea, and he loved it in the end.”

Roger Taylor: “It actually was sort of Brians thing really, and it really did forge quite a lot. I mean you never heard heavy rock – a lot of it was quite heavy – music on a film, and so this battle sequence is really quite ground breaking.”

Brian May: “It was, I think, the first.”

Roger Taylor: “And now you cant see a movie without soundtrack albums coming at you and heavy music.”

Brian May: “And heavy guitars.”

Roger Taylor: “So I think we were quite well ahead of the game there.”

As The Game album started to take up more of the band’s time, Brian took on the responsibility of getting the soundtrack over the line. The title track, “Flash,” would be the only single released, but the album is crammed full of classic Queen tunes  not least “The Hero,” which became a stellar opening to the live showߪ.as can be seen in this band performance in Milton Keynes, UK, June 5 1982.

Understandably, this project begged the question at the time as to whether Queen would consider doing another movie soundtrack. Roger Taylor said at the time: “This film thing was very interesting, and if somebody comes up with a really fascinating offer for another film, perhaps we might think about that. But, no, were a rock and roll band, think we always will be.”

Queen did of course make a return to scoring with their second soundtrack six years later, for another science-fiction fantasy, the hugely successful Highlander.

More of that later.

Spoiling listeners with a fresh ensemble of electronic-fueled sounds, Summer of Love is just what we need to tie us through the remainder of the season.

Listen to Summer of Love HERE

Fused together by cultivating snare sounds and feel good electric peaks, the Punctual and Aluna co-produced single takes us through an underlying infectious loop, seamlessly blended together with immersive drum patterns and catchy hooks, all while sealing the track with Aluna’s angelic vocals. Summer of Love is a carefully thought out release from Aluna, significantly marking her brand new direction as a solo artist, simultaneously solidifying her presence in the electronic scene.

Touching on the creative process behind Summer of Love and working with the producer duo, Aluna says: In the summer of 2020 we wanted to feel like we were gonna change everything…we also felt crushed at the same time and the first thing we needed was love from the person closest to us or just from ourselves to keep going…the summer of love. 2021 has this feeling of a darkness lifting and I just wanted to capture that.

2021 saw Aluna release the 10-track collection Renaissance (Remixes) (LISTEN) which featured club-ready re-workings of tracks from her debut solo album, Renaissance (out now via Mad Decent), which followed on from her soaring success during 2020, a year that was credibly known as a momentous year for her. Spanning multiple genres of dance and electronic music, the collection features exciting collaborations with a diverse array of predominantly POC and female producers, including Lady Bee, Austin Millz, TSHA, Bella Boo & UNIIQU3 to name a few. Also included in the remix package, Bronx, NY-based producers, remixers and DJ duo The Martinez Brothers’ remix of The Recipe, originally a collaboration with KAYTRANADA, which fuses afrobeat elements in with his trademark percussion and the mesmerizing vocals of Nigerian singer-songwriter Rema. Watch the official music video for The Recipe HERE.

Spring 2021 saw the release of the Afrobeats-inspired DANCE (RED) SAVE LIVES Vol. III (LISTEN) album, a collaborative project from (RED) and Africa’s most influential record label, Mavin Records, joining forces to raise funds to fight two pandemics: COVID-19 and AIDS. The track listing, co-curated by Aluna and Don Jazzy includes tracks and remixes by SOFI TUKKER, Fela Kuti, Virgil Abloh, Felix Da Housecat as well as an impressive remix of hit single, Jaiye by Mavin Artist LADIPOE, and featuring Aluna and Sigag Lauren (LISTEN).

Best describing the brand new single Summer of Love as a pivotal moment in her career, Aluna is excited to reveal what is to come, revealing This past year has been a huge healing process, and this next chapter of my life feels really energized and the new music that I’m putting out is going to reflect that. There’s still a ton of work that needs to be done in regards to moving the needle for Black women in dance music. And these are the anthems that will be keeping me going.

With so much more to come for the remainder of the year, be sure to keep your eyes on Aluna as there are far more surprises in store!

Carol Ades – Crying During Sex

CAROL ADES GETS PERSONAL WITH CRYING DURING SEX

GLOBALLY SUCCESSFUL SINGER-SONGWRITER HERALDS DEBUT EP WITH DEEPLY INTIMATE NEW POP TRACK

CRYING DURING SEX AVAILABLE NOW AT ALL DSPS

LISTEN TO CRYING DURING SEX

Carol Ades is more than just relatable. The New Jersey-born singer-songwriter’s power lies in her ability to vocalize thoughts that we’ve all had, ones that perhaps we’ve been too scared to say out loud. – LADYGUNN

Globally successful singer-songwriter Carol Ades has announced today’s premiere of her powerfully intimate new single. Crying During Sex is available now at all DSPs and streaming services.

Crying During Sex marks the latest and most striking release thus far from Carol Ades (pronounced ahh-dis), formerly known best as acclaimed singer and songwriter Caroline Pennell. The provocative, deeply personal pop track heralds Ades’ much anticipated debut EP, arriving everywhere this fall, and will be joined by a Zachary Bailey directed visual later next week.

It’s about a really confusing hard time in my life where I was quite literally crying every time I would have sex, says Carol Ades. I felt like my body was hovering above me and it was so scary and confusing and sad at the same time. I’m not in that place anymore, but I wrote this in the thick of it so I could try and make sense of the experience. I think it’s something people don’t talk about a lot and I’m definitely not the only one who’s experienced it!

I mean, quite literally I was going through this really difficult experience where anytime I had sex I would cry. It was a mixture of sadness and confusion. It felt like my body was working against me. In my mind sex was supposed to be something that felt good and brought you closer to yourself but it wasn’t working that way for me. This song is simultaneously so special yet so sad to me because it takes me back to that confusing time that I’m still working through now! When I tell myself ‘Everything will be alright’ in the song, I’m really trying to hold onto that part of me that knows it will be. I don’t think a lot of people talk about sad sexual experiences because it hurts to re-live but I know I’m not the only one who’s experienced it in some form.

Crying During Sex follows this spring’s premiere of Carol Ades’ debut single, I Can’t Wait To Be British, available now at all DSPs and streaming services; an official lyric video is streaming now via YouTube. The pop anthem was met with critical praise from a variety of media outlets:

Stunning ‘I Can’t Wait to Be British’ is an unrelentingly emotional rollercoaster that surely only scratches at the surface of what Carol Ades has to offer. – THE LINE OF BEST FIT

‘I Can’t Wait to Be British’ encapsulates a moment of realization, when one comes to the conclusion that escapism from self is an endless and often tormenting cycle. Using the title phrase, Carol Ades epitomizes the myriad of universal ‘what ifs,’ a testament to her masterful pen and ability to memorialize those sacred feelings we yearn to never forget. – ONES TO WATCH

‘Ades’ brand of vulnerability is not only refreshing but extremely comforting. She perfectly articulates the all-too-common tendency to put life on hold until we can become some idealized (and unrealistic) version of ourselves. – LADYGUNN

Her unfiltered lyrics read like a diary entry and offer a raw intimate insight into her mind as the passion of her halcyon vocal brings these feelings of inadequacy and self-hatred to life, forming an instant connection as a result. This emotive guitar lead ballad of seismic quality is only a taste of what the sonic palette of Carol Ades has to offer us. – A1234

‘Ades is a gem of a songwriter. Every line she writes is important.’ – TWENTY MINUTES LATER

Carol Ades is a mass of contradictions, an old soul in a young body; an indie pop musician with a flair for the confessional; even her songs themselves are a masterclass in contradictory emotions, they might be sadder than the saddest, most desperate Tumblr post yet she’ll still make you crack a smile and let out a little laugh. – WE ARE THE GUARD

Crying During Sex and I Can’t Wait To Be British will both be featured on Ades’ upcoming debut EP, showcasing her evolving imagination with raw and real anthems as undeniable as they are unapologetic, emotional lyric-driven songs you can scream to or sob to in your car.

LISTEN TO I CAN’T WAIT TO BE BRITISH

WATCH OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO

I want fans to listen to these songs and feel like, ‘Oh shit, I really needed to hear that’ or ‘That’s what I was feeling this morning, but I couldn’t figure out the words to describe it’ Carol Ades says. I’m going to keep building a world around a community of people who feel like me and want to help each other through hard things.

Emotions make a mess. It’s not the kind of mess you can just shove under the bed either. Carol Ades isn’t here to help you scrub out the mess until you can’t see it anymore. Instead, she’s here to help you celebrate it, learn something from it, and move on confidently because of it. The New Jersey-born and Los Angeles-based artist, singer, and songwriter wants to empower you, but she’s going to keep it real too. Carol dedicated her whole life to music and even had a few brushes with major success on stage and behind-the-scenes. Following a bad breakup, she turned inward and wasn’t afraid to get raw in 2018. Under the influence of everything from the series Fleabag, Greta Gerwig, Elizabeth Gilbert, and Glennon Doyle to Japanese House, MUNA, and Phoebe Bridgers, she began to write her own coming of age story. Ironically, the first song of this phase ended up in the hands of two other artists, becoming Past Life for Trevor Daniel and Selena Gomez. With the onset of quarantine, she began writing for herself at a prolific pace, working her way through the mess of life by finally creating timeless music all her own.

My best friends call me Carol, she says. It feels a bit grandma-ish, which I love. I feel like I’m a 60-year-old in a 25-year-old’s body. Ades is my middle name and makes me feel so close to who I was as a kid. I didn’t make up a new name, since the music is so personal. Carol Ades feels like the ‘wiser voice’ in the back of my head who helps me solve problems. So many songs poured out of me over the last year as a direct result of processing change. Now feels like the right time to put out into the world.

UPSAHL — “TIME OF MY LIFE”

“An artist who’s as great at writing a hook as she is at singing one” —BILLBOARD

“Bold and brash, she holds nothing back” —SPIN

“Exudes an infectious sense of confidence that provides an aura of empowerment for her listeners” —V MAGAZINE

“If you aren’t already a full-time UPSAHL stan, firstly: What’s wrong with you?” —COSMOPOLITAN

Today, critically acclaimed trailblazer UPSAHL releases her new single “Time of my Life,” an introspective anthem off of her debut album due out this October on Arista Records. The pensive track’s melodic hook and punchy chorus put UPSAHL’s addictive sound and songwriting prowess front and center.

Directed by George Gallardo Kattah, the playful video juxtaposes present-day UPSAHL with a younger version of herself, allowing moments of childhood nostalgia to manifest in the now. Raw and vulnerable, UPSAHL invites viewers to tag along as she wonders, “How come all the worst days are in the time of my life?”

Of the song, UPSAHL explains, “I wrote ‘Time of my Life’ about being the happiest I’ve ever been, while simultaneously being the saddest I’ve ever been. I’m at a place in my life where I feel like the highs are really really high, but on the flip side, it makes the impact of the lows even lower. The day we wrote this song, I had the line: ‘How come all the worst days are in the time of my life?’ dancing around in my head. So we ended up making that the chorus and building the rest of the song around it.”

Of the video, she added, “For the music video, George, the director, and I really wanted to emphasize the nostalgia that this song sparks. Personally, I feel like some of my most reflective moments are in the shower, so we wanted the video to take place there, while flashing back to some of the best and worst moments of my life. We wanted it to feel very dramatic and introspective, so we shot the video on a high speed camera at 60-1000 frames per second to make it all look like it’s moving in slow motion.”

You can listen to and watch “Time of My Life” HERE.

“Time of my Life” follows on the heels of UPSAHL’s recent single “Melatonin,” a “bright, buoyant” (Billboard) track exemplifying the iconoclast’s musical depth and creating another important stop in the journey to her upcoming debut album.

You can watch the “Melatonin” music video HERE.

In just a few short years, UPSAHL has penned numerous hits spanning various genres such as Dua Lipa’s “Good in Bed,” Madison Beer’s fiery single “BOYSHIT,” and “Happy Endings” with Mike Shinoda and iann dior. Most recently, UPSAHL collaborated with Anne-Marie and Little Mix and co-wrote
“Kiss My (Uh Oh),” released last week. UPSAHL’s track “Stop” was also featured on episode 3 of HBO’s new Gossip Girl revival.

UPSAHL will perform a run of fall dates across the U.S. opening for Olivia O’Brien kicking off August 30th at The Observatory in Santa Ana, CA. She will also make her first-ever headline show debut at the Courtyard Theatre in London this fall on October 12th.

Today, singer and songwriter Darren Criss releases his newest single, “for a night like this,” via BMG: LISTEN HERE. The release comes alongside the exciting announcement of his upcoming EP, Masquerade, out August 20. Pre-save HERE.

“for a night like this” arrives on the heels of two previously released singles, “i can’t dance” and “f*kn around,” each showcasing a completely different side of Darren as an artist. Describing this collection of songs as “character-driven singles,” Darren explores even more personas on Masquerade. Darren will perform songs from the EP live for the first time at Elsie Fest on August 29 in NYC as part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Full track listing of Masquerade can be found below.

About the new single, Darren shares, “What artist doesn’t want a song of theirs to end up on the permanent playlist for every wedding, New Year’s Eve, reception, afterparty, Quinceañera, Bar and Bat Mitzvah? for a night like this’ is me trying my hand at joining the ranks of those go-to celebration songs we all know and love. So, like the best of them, I made a song designed to invite you out of your seat and onto the dance floor, for the nights you get dressed up to get down, for the ones you spend a little on to celebrate a lot for. A song for those special nights you work hard and wait for, so you can go all out sharing something you love with the people you love.”

Billboard described “f*kn around” as “a slick alt-pop single built around a wiggly bass line.” MTV News praised, “With synthy distortions and a banging guitar loop, the song echoes the sharper edges of contemporaries like Shawn Mendes and Justin Timberlake’s with a theatrical flair fans have come to expect from Criss.” Darren made his late-night television performance debut with the single on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Este Haim of HAIMon bass, The Pocket Queen on drums, frequent collaborator and San Fermin front woman Charlene Kaye on guitar, and the track’s co-writer CJ Baran on keys.

Music has always played an integral role in Darren’s artistry. As a solo artist, his 2017 EP Homework debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart. Crisshas toured to sold-out audiences around the world including headlining the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival with multi-GRAMMY Award nominee and renowned DJ Steve Aoki. In 2019, he also headlined the Balmain Music Festival for the Balmain men’s spring 2020 show. He has been featured on the cover of numerous magazines including such music publications as Billboard and American Songwriter.

As a songwriter, Darren has penned songs for the comedy musical Royalties, for which he was also the creator and executive producer. He received his first Emmy nomination for songwriting in 2015 for Best Original Music and Lyrics for the song “This Time,” which appeared on Glee’s series finale. In addition to collaborations with fellow artists including Rufus Wainwright, Sabrina Carpenter, Bonnie McKee, Jordan Fisher, and many others, he has also written for Apple’s animated series Central Park.

All Time Low × Pale Waves – PMA

Platinum-selling Fueled By Ramen band All Time Low have shared a brand new single entitled “PMA“ (Feat. Pale Waves). The track is available today on all streaming platforms, while an accompanying lyric video for the song is streaming on All Time Low‘s YouTube channel.

Upholding what has become an undeniable creative partnership in the studio, All Time Low worked with longtime collaborator and producer Zakk Cervini (Blink-182, MGK, Halsey) on the track. “PMA“ hinges on effervescent electric hooks as All Time Low‘s Alex Gaskarth and Pale Waves‘ Heather Baron-Gracie trade-off melodies as they work through their anxiety.

The Song

Gaskarth elaborated on the collaboration, “‘PMA’ is a journey into isolation and overstimulation. It‘s about the little mundane things we do to keep ourselves distracted when loneliness becomes a constant and leaves us feeling apathetic. It‘s existential dread wrapped in nervous laughter kissed by the SoCal sun. Heather and Pale Waves joining us on this one quite literally brings the hopeful shine to the lyrics, the promise of safety in the shared experience, the understanding we‘re all living it together.“

Baron-Gracie added, “I was really happy that Alex asked me to be on the track as I‘ve always been a big fan of All Time Low and I loved the song when he sent it over. I really related to the themes, especially the exhausting worry that you‘re never doing / being enough in life.“

It arrives on the heels of the band‘s latest single “Once In A Lifetime.“ It has already surpassed 20 million streams and counting in addition to reaching #5 at Alternative Radio and attracting critical acclaim. NME hailed it as “reflective“ and “hopeful,“ and KERRANG! dubbed it “dark but typically anthemic and infectious.“ Produced by Cervini and Andrew Goldstein [Maroon 5, Katy Perry, blackbear], American Songwriter attested, “the new cut crashes the senses in bursts of color and sound,“
