MILES × LØLØ – THE INTERNET

LA-based singer/songwriter and rapper MILES unveiled his new single, “THE INTERNET,” featuring LA by-way-of Toronto pop-punk artist LØLØ. Punctuated by bouncy guitars, breezy beats and a melodic flow, the track is a sunny anthem leading into the summer season. Listen HERE. The accompanying music video is also out and highlights the challenges of dating in the modern era. Of the song’s inspiration, MILES explained with a laugh, “It’s about scrolling online during quarantine, seeing beautiful women, and knowing there’s no chance.” Watch the new visual HERE.

Of the new collaboration, LØLØ added, “I got connected with MILES through my manager and label, and we instantly hit it off in a session. A few weeks later, I saw him tease a song concept on TikTok, and I made a duet to it, without thinking too much into it. He saw it, felt there was something there, and we got back into the studio and actually turned it into a collab.

MILES creates big, high-energy tracks that people can relate to when navigating life and relationships. Early Rising called “MISS INDEPENDENT,” MILES’ first-released single of 2022, a “brilliant feel-good track that continues his exciting trajectory to becoming a household name,” while MUD Magazine praised his “unique sound” that is setting him up to be “one of [their] favorite artists.” MILES is also currently in the studio working on new original music, slated for release this summer. Stay tuned for more to come.

About MILES

MILES’ story might be almost as wild as his fusion of breezy hip-hop, earthshaking pop, and grimy rock. The St. Louis-born and Los Angeles-based singer and rapper bobs and weaves past genre lines with an unpredictable and undeniable style of his own. Predestining their son for music, mom and dad named him in homage to jazz icon Miles Davis. In turn, MILES cranked his old man’s jazz records as well as Kirk Franklin, Bill Withers, Lauryn Hill, Black Eyed Peas and Lil Wayne. Slowly, but surely, MILES developed a following online before cooking up “WHAT IN TARNATION” (2020) back in St. Louis. Beyond inspiring thousands of TikTok videos, it raked in millions of streams as he signed to Elektra Records. He maintained his momentum with the captivating, high-energy follow-up singles “DESPERADOS” and “MOSH PIT.” His new releases with Elektra kickstart a new era for this exciting artist to watch.

About LØLØ

Born and raised in Toronto and now calling LA home, LØLØ has become an undeniable presence in the pop-punk genre. The singer-songwriter has created a striking presence both online and on stage with her effortlessly cool attitude and sharp lyricism. In 2020, LØLØ created a buzz on TikTok where she reimagined music’s biggest hits. Putting her adept lyrical skills to use, she rewrote verses from the opposite perspective of the song’s subject, while still maintaining the original integrity of each song’s tempo and rhyme scheme. Most notably, her take on Taylor Swift‘s “Betty” from “Betty’s Perspective” caught the attention of Swifties and went viral on the platform. In late 2021, LØLØ released her electric EP overkill, which came directly on the heels of her 36-stop US tour with pop-punk titans New Found Glory and Less Than Jake. LØLØ has been compared to Paramore and Avril Lavigne by Billboard, as well as receiving critical acclaim from Paper Magazine, MTV, Kerrang!, American Songwriter, Ones to Watch, Alternative Press, and many more. People Magazine called her an “Emerging Artist making their mark in music” and to date she’s amassed over 35 million streams on Spotify with her numbers continuing to climb exponentially. LØLØ is on the brink of superstardom, so stay tuned as there’s much more to come.

Rita Ora – Finish Line

“Finish Line,” performed by global superstar Rita Ora and written by award-winning songwriter Diane Warren, was released across all music streaming platforms and is the soundtrack for ESPN‘s upcoming four-part Title IX docuseries, 37 Words. A true passion project across the company, ABC Owned Television Stations’ race and culture team played a pivotal role in securing the song and was part of a majority-women-led team responsible for the creative vision of the “Finish Line” music video. An exclusive clip of the music video premiered Sunday, May 15, during ABC’s American Idol. Emmy Award-winning producer and host Ryan Seacrest interviewed both Ora and Warren live.

“Finish Line” is a women empowerment anthem that will support “37 Words,” a four-part ESPN docuseries from documentary filmmakers Dawn Porter and Nicole Newnham, as part of The Walt Disney Company‘s Fifty/50 initiative led by ESPN. The Fifty/50 initiative commemorates the 50th anniversary of the passing of Title IX, the federal civil rights law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in any educational institution receiving federal funding and gave women the equal opportunity to play.

“I knew that I wanted to be a part of the Fifty/50 initiative because it celebrates the 50-year anniversary passing of Title IX,” said multi-award-winning songwriter Diane Warren. “This powerful initiative inspired me to write ‘Finish Line’ as an uplifting anthem that reminds us to never give up the fight. It may be 50 years since the law was passed, but we are still pushing for the fundamental human right of equality. Rita Ora understood the message of never giving up within this song. She sang it so movingly with the conviction it needed.”

“I love working with Diane. She is such a brilliant songwriter and collaborating with her is always a joy,” said global superstar Rita Ora. “When she brought this song to me, I was so moved by the lyrics and the passion they evoked and knew instantly that I had to be involved with the project. The fight for women’s equality is a global issue. Every day, women around the world are fighting to be seen, heard and respected. We must continue to work to empower one another as we strive to make equality a reality for women in every part of the world.”

“As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX across The Walt Disney Company, it is a true gift to have two such prolific, powerhouse artists as Rita Ora and Diane Warren contribute their talent and passion to a song that celebrates and encourages girls and women around the country,” said Debra O’Connell, president of Networks for Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution. “‘Finish Line’ is a fantastic and empowering anthem, brought to life by an extraordinary and inspiring group of women. I’m incredibly proud of this collaboration and thrilled to showcase it on our Networks as part of the Fifty/50 initiative.”

Most Guys are Losers via Mika Stambaugh for The Masink for use by 360 Magazine

Most Guys Are Losers

His script included 20 revisions, but writer/director Eric Ustian never wavered about where his film, Most Guys Are Losers, would take place and be shot—Naperville, IL. “I always knew it had to take place in Naperville.,” says Ustian. “I wanted to promote the city and I love this place. I loved growing up here and in Chicago and wouldn’t shoot it anywhere else,”

While the script attracted Hollywood heavyweights like Mira and Paul Sorvino, Ustian cast about 75% of the actors from the Chicago area, many of them being familiar names. Ustian said, “Belmont Cameli originally auditioned for a different role. We knew he had talent and wanted to see him read for the role of ‘Trevor,’ a former Naperville North High School quarterback. When Belmont presented his next read, he was wearing a Naperville North football jersey. I thought—this kid is either a method actor, or he actually played football at Naperville North… turns out he did play there.”

In addition to Cameli, Ustian also cast a then-unknown South Side actor Kevin Miles. But, chances are you know him from the endless stream of national commercials he’s done as “Jake from State Farm.” Ustian took advantage of his hometown, with some “hometown discounts” as well. He managed to stretch his movie budget by filming part of it in his mom’s house.  “Her rates were pretty impressive,” he said, “You can’t beat Free.”

Some of the film was shot at his friend’s bar, Frankies Blue Room, and the crew took advantage of capturing scenes on Naperville’s scenic Riverwalk. Most Guys Are Losers is a romantic comedy taking place over Thanksgiving weekend in Chicago. There, a college kid from California seeks approval from his girlfriend’s dad, a bar owner and author of the dating book, “Most Guys are Losers.”

The cast includes:

The film began shooting in November 2019. The pandemic put a pause on the intended production timeline, but it’s finally expected to premier in major cities this July 1.

Marvel’s Voices

As part of Marvel’s ongoing Marvel’s Voices series, readers everywhere will soon meet Escapade in “MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE #1!” Joining fellow LGBTQIA+ Marvel heroes this June, Escapade will debut in the book’s central story, written by acclaimed author Charlie Jane Anders and drawn by artist duo and Eisner-nominated cartoonists Ro Stein and Ted Brandt, with colors by Tamra Bonvillain.

Escapade, whose real name is Shela Sexton, is a trans mutant who can instantaneously switch physical locations with another person or trade any specific physical or abstract attribute such as possessions, organizational status, skills, superhuman powers, and even situations! Escapade is only able to maintain the power for a few hours at a time and must be within 7 feet of her target, and the more complex the switch, the higher the chance of a mishap. Luckily for Escapade, she has an invaluable partner at her side, her tech-savvy best friend Morgan Red, along with a tool belt containing an arsenal of stolen tools and devices. Together, Escapade and Morgan tear through the Marvel Universe as professional thieves, stealing from criminal and corrupt organizations… until a meeting with Emma Frost and Destiny changes the course of Escapade’s life forever.

“I have loved the Marvel Universe for as long as I can remember, and may or may not sing the Spider-Man cartoon theme in the shower on a regular basis. So I was so thrilled to be able to introduce a brand-new hero to stand alongside all of my favorites,” Anders said. “I hope that Escapade and Morgan Red will inspire trans and non-binary people everywhere to believe that they, too, can fight for justice with the power of creativity and chosen family.”

“Now more than ever, we need a hero like Shela Sexton for people to look up to,” Brandt explained. “It was a real honor and a privilege to be a part of her creation process!”

“It’s very exciting to be part of bringing a new character into Marvel comics,” Stein added. “Working with Charlie Jane’s script was a lot of fun, and I hope people enjoy reading about Escapade as much as we did putting together her first outing on the page.”

The 20-page adventure in MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE #1 will introduce Escapade and reveal her career as a superhero/thief, as well as explore her life as a trans mutant in the Marvel Universe. MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE #1 only marks the beginning of Escapade’s saga as she becomes entangled with the X-Men and a deadly prophecy is unveiled in her future. Fans can look forward to Escapade’s return in the fall in a special story arc of NEW MUTANTS guest-written by Anders.

Meet Escapade and celebrate Pride Month with Marvel Comics when MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE #1 arrives on June 22! Visit Marvel.com for an exclusive sneak peek and interview with Charlie Jane Anders!

Range Rover Sport

The New Range Rover Sport has made its global premiere with a dramatic world-first climb up a flooded dam spillway in Iceland.

The epic ascent saw New Range Rover Sport resist the surging torrent of water flowing down the ramp of the Karahnjukar Dam—the biggest of its kind in the world—at a rate of 750 tonnes per minute. A loss of traction risked plunging down the perilous 90m drop at the base of the spillway to the valley floor below.

The successful spillway ascent was screened for the first time at an exclusive launch event at Jaguar Land Rover’s Advanced Product Creation Centre at Gaydon, UK.

Official James Bond stunt driver Jessica Hawkins was behind the wheel as the New Range Rover Sport demonstrated its grip, traction, performance and composure, completing the latest in a series of challenges for Land Rover’s luxury performance SUV. Previous feats include a record-setting hill-climb at Pikes Peak, a first recorded crossing of the ‘Empty Quarter’ desert in the Arabian Peninsula and a first ascent of the 999 steps to Heaven’s Gate in China, in 2018.

Nick Collins, Executive Director Vehicle of Programs, Jaguar Land Rover, said: “Land Rover’s pioneering MLA-Flex architecture and the latest chassis systems come together to deliver the highest levels of dynamism we’ve ever seen on Range Rover Sport. Integrated Chassis Control governs the comprehensive suite of innovations, coordinating everything from the latest switchable-volume air suspension system to our Dynamic Response Pro electronic active roll control. The result is the most engaging and thrilling Range Rover Sport ever.”

The spillway climb was the final obstacle on a drive from the valley floor to the summit of the dam, taking in a flooded riverbed, long steep tunnels and the 40-degree rocky dam wall itself. The 294 m stretch of spillway had water furiously cascading down its 90-metre drop, to provide the ultimate test of traction and driver confidence.

New Range Rover Sport is based on Land Rover’s advanced, flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex), which provides the perfect foundations for its superior dynamics and peerless refinement. Its line-up of powerful and efficient powertrains includes two six-cylinder extended range Electric Hybrid plug-ins, which provide a pure-electric driving range of up to 113km (70 miles) and CO2 emissions of as low as 18g/km1.

The new 530PS V8 Twin Turbo provides sports car performance, with 0-100km/h in as little as 4.5 seconds (0-60mph in 4.3 seconds) with Dynamic Launch engaged. Customers can also choose from powerful and efficient mild hybrid petrol and diesel Ingenium engines, while pure-electric propulsion will be available in 2024, as Land Rover continues its electrification journey.

New Range Rover Sport will be exclusively produced at the Solihull Manufacturing Facility in the UK, the historic home of Range Rover production, alongside New Range Rover.
