Earlier this year, Bastille released their hotly anticipated #1 album, Give Me The Future, a record that explores a futuristic wonderland free from restrictions. The album embraces a new wave of technology, which enables us to get lost inside our imagination and travel back and forward in time to be anyone or do anything.

Now, the band are adding a further instalment to this critically acclaimed release, sharing a three-part extended edition of the album, dubbed Give Me The Future + Dreams Of The Past, featuring another album’s worth of new songs, collaborations, covers, and reprises. Watch HERE.

“In releasing this version of the record, we wanted to give the complete picture of what we intended with this album and also explore the idea that you can choose your own adventure,” frontman Dan Smith says. “You can dive into the ideas of the future and an electronic world, or you can fall back into the past – away from technology and into ideas of memory and nostalgia – both thematically and musically. Or you can choose full-on dancefloor heartbreak escape.”

With the original album on part one, part two continues some of the themes and narrative from the original record, delving into songs that are shot through with notions of technological dependence, human connection, and the limitless possibilities of life online. Part three, meanwhile, acts as a mini return to the band’s acclaimed “Other People’s Heartache” Mixtape series opening the four-piece up to collaborations, covers, and concept-free creativity.

The new songs make ever clearer the link between the future and past, highlighting the ability to choose to go backwards as well as forwards like in more nostalgic cuts such as the Graceland-inspired “Family Ties.” Written about Smith’s memories of visiting his late aunt in South Africa, the warm, wistfulness of the track provides a counterpart to time travel’s usually futuristic sheen – as per new single, the rave-ready electronic club banger “Revolution”—listen HERE.

“Revolution” had always been one of the core songs for Give Me The Future and took inspiration from Quincy Jones’ production and The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face”. “The chorus is about the intimacy of human connection in the context of some science fiction, space-centred imagery. But it’s also about the idea of those amazingly thoughtful people who spend their lives trying to change the world in a positive way,” explains Dan. “I’m totally over-awed by people like that – if you’re one of them, like an inventor, activist or scientist, you have to have the ability to imagine a version of the future that’s better than what currently exists, and then have that energy to actually work to make it happen. Alongside all the other things life throws at you. So, I wanted to nod to those people and the idea that before anything big happens, most of them will have had these little revolutions in their minds, a change of perspective that leads to something bigger.”

On the “Other People’s Heartache” section of the album – Bastille bring that energy to life via collaborations; The glacial groove of “Run Into Trouble” with Alok, the garage stutter of “Eight Hours” with Tyde, a cover of the Bruce Springsteen classic “Dancing In The Dark,” and boundary-less new songs including the irresistible “Remind Me” and the melancholic power ballad “Running Away.”

The last song on the record is the beautifully ethereal “Hope For The Future,” a song which hints at where the band could sonically go next. Written for the soundtrack of the Leonardo DiCaprio-produced documentary From Devil’s Breath – a short film about forest fires, climate change, and tree planting. It centres around an acoustic guitar melody and Smith’s layered vocals. “I was thinking about Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver and all the acoustic artists who manage to write music that is both orchestral and floaty, but also a grounded in some grit,” he says. “It was very much at odds with all of the synthesisers, drum machines, and electronic instruments and the production that we were using for Give Me The Future, but I feel super proud of it.”

Their fourth album, the masterful Give Me The Future, was hailed by many critics as their best release to date, with The Fader describing it as “a grand collection of sci-fi inspired songs attempting to make sense of the world’s fast-moving venture into dystopia.” NME said: “The result is the most expansive, yet cohesive record Bastille have put their name to,” adding that the band may have “created a perfect soundtrack to life after lockdown.” The Independent, meanwhile, declared: “When confined within Bastille’s catchy hooks and imaginative, era-spanning production, what lies ahead suddenly isn’t so terrible. The future is bright – for 30 minutes’ worth of bops, at least.”

Since the release of the record, Bastille has created an immersive experience at their sold-out gigs, bringing the themes of the album to life in arenas across the UK and on a tour of North America.

At this year’s Glastonbury Festival, such was the demand to witness their secret set, the festival organisers had to cordon off the surrounding area at the 1,000-capacity William’s Green tent as festivalgoers tried to descend in the masses to catch a glimpse of their secret performance.

Such fervent scenes will continue across the summer as the band play huge sets at festivals across the UK and Europe, including Boardmasters, Sziget, and two mammoth sub-headliner spots at Reading & Leeds 2022. Following that, they’ll take the “Give Me The Future” tour to South America, stopping in Argentina and Brazil, before continuing the enthralling trek across Europe.

ABOUT BASTILLE:
The four-piece has been experimenting and augmenting the Bastille sound since the release of their last album Doom Days in 2019, the conclusion of an unofficial trilogy. Last year, they released the Goosebumps EP, featuring Graham Coxon on “WHAT YOU GONNA DO???” and producer Kenny Beats on the title track, as they continued to pen songs that seek to understand and offer escape from the modern human condition. Doom Days received huge critical acclaim and charted in the Top 5 in both the U.K. and U.S., the only U.K. band to have achieved this chart landmark alongside The Beatles and Queen in 2019. The record found the band at their most lyrically provocative, most accomplished, and most vital and charts the course of one night in search of distraction from the surrounding apocalypse (sound familiar?). During the course of 2019, the four-piece continued to cement their reputation as one of the world’s most captivating live bands, having played an extensive two month-long sold-out U.S. and U.K. tour. At the beginning of 2020, Bastille received their sixth Brit nomination and their second nomination for British Group. In January 2021, Bastille was the subject of ReOrchestrated, a documentary film that provided a revelatory and bracingly honest new look into the band’s journey so far, framed through their ReOrchestrated shows and diving into themes of motivation, anxiety, and imposter syndrome. With over 11 million records sold, 6 U.K. Top 40 singles, and 1.5 billion video views, Bastille continues to be one of the world’s most streamed bands.

Rolls-Royce Spectre

Earlier this year, at a bespoke testing facility in Arjeplog, Sweden, Spectre received the first ‘lessons’ in a finishing school that is custom designed to teach the motor car how to behave and react like a Rolls-Royce. Over the past months, the marque’s test and development engineers have shifted their focus from extreme conditions to more formal scrutiny in a location that reflects the motor car’s everyday use: the French Riviera where 625,000 kilometres of Spectre’s 2.5 million kilometre global testing programme will be driven on and around the French Côte d’Azur.

This phase is split into two parts, beginning at the historic Autodrome de Miramas proving ground, located in the French department of Bouches-du-Rhône in Provence. This includes irrigation units that create standing water, handling circuits with tight corners and adverse cambers, and a heavily banked 3.1 mile three-lane high-speed bowl, enabling Spectre to be tested at continuous high speeds.

The second phase of testing in the region occurs in the countryside surrounding the Autodrome de Miramas on the roads that many production Spectres will be driven on following first customer deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Rolls-Royce Spectre: ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ In High Definition

A new suspension technology has been approved that ensures Spectre delivers Rolls-Royce’s hallmark ‘magic carpet ride’. This technology is now being refined at Miramas and on the roads of the French Riviera.

  •  New hardware component with electronic roll stabilisation uses data from the Rolls-Royce Flagbearer system, reading the road surface ahead, and Satellite Aided Navigation system, which alerts Spectre to upcoming corners.
  • On straight roads, the system can automatically decouple Spectre’s anti-roll bars, allowing each wheel to act independently to prevent rocking motion.
  • The configuration improves high-frequency distortions in ride caused by road surface.
  • Once the data in the Satellite Aided Navigation identifies an upcoming curve the components are recoupled, the suspension dampers stiffen, and the four-wheel steering system prepares for activation to ensure effortless entry and exit.
  • Under cornering, more than 18 sensors are monitored, and steering, braking, power delivery and suspension parameters are adjusted accordingly so that Spectre remains stable.

Rolls-Royce Spectre: Intelligent Architecture,  Unparalleled Rigidity

The new technology paired with the aluminium ‘Architecture of Luxury” provides unparalleled control of Spectre.  The dedicated Rolls-Royce platform provides Spectre with the most rigid body in the marque’s history.

  • The architecture is reinforced with steel sections that provide increased torsional rigidity combined with aluminium body sections that represent the largest of any Rolls-Royce yet.
  • The one-piece side panel, which extends from the front of the A-pillar to behind the rear tail-lights, is the largest ‘deep draw’ part ever produced by Rolls-Royce – extending nearly four metres in length.
  • Likewise, the pillarless coach doors, which are nearly 1.5 metres in length, are the longest in Rolls-Royce history.
  • Integration of the rigid battery structure Spectre’s architecture added support to the 30% improvement in structural rigidity.

Rolls-Royce Spectre: A Bespoke Electronic Architecture

Spectre is the most connected Rolls-Royce ever and each of its components are more intelligent than in any previous Rolls-Royce.

  • Rolls-Royce software engineers developed a decentralised processing technology by sending more sophisticated data packets – that describe a variable input  and response
  • It features 141,200 sender-receiver relations and has more than 1,000 functions and more than 25,000 sub functions.
  • This is three times more sender-receiver signals than a typical Rolls-Royce.
  • Over the course of the Riviera Testing Programme, the marque’s engineers are creating a dedicated control for each of Spectre’s 25,000-plus functions.
  • Responses calculate factors including weather, driver behaviour, vehicle status and road conditions.

Rolls-Royce Spectre: A New Aerodynamic Standard

Initial testing of the redesigned Spirit of Ecstasy mascot yielded an estimated drag coefficient (cd) of just 0.26, making it the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever created. Current wind tunnel testing, digital modelling and continuous high-speed testing in Miramas, indicated it has be reduced to just 0.25.

ROLLS-ROYCE SPECTRE: THE EXTRAORDINARY UNDERTAKING CONTINUES

The Spectre global testing programme continues: the Electric Super Coupé will still be tested for a further one million kilometres before the marque’s engineers will consider this undertaking complete. First customer deliveries of Spectre will commence in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Says Robin Campbell, “We are proud to be representing the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games with the official anthem ‘Champion .’Birmingham represents the best of global Britain, and it’s our pleasure to showcase this to the world. Birmingham is a city of champions!”

Adds Matt Doyle, “Champion is all about positivity. It’s about being uplifted and putting that energy into whatever gets you up in the morning, whether it be music, art, sport, or whatever it is. It’s about doing what you do best and excelling at that, celebrating being a champion. “

UB40 is one of the U.K.’s most successful British groups of all time, achieving three U.K. Number Ones – “Red, Red Wine,” “I Got You Babe (ft. ABOUT INDIA SHAWN
India Shawn is unfiltered and fearless. Listening to the rising R&B singer/songwriter’s music feels less like playing a record and more like catching up with an old friend. She bares all—nothing is off-limits. This vulnerable approach has informed all of the music she’s released over the last few years, but she applies it with a special focus on her new album Before We Go (Deeper). Over 14 songs, she reflects on emotional highs and lows, shares buried secrets, and traces the contours of world-shattering heartbreak. She projects these deeply personal musings through a kaleidoscope of old-school R&B and West Coast cool that is as heady as it is undeniable. Launching her career in famed writing collective Full Circle, Shawn initially made waves in the music industry by penning hits for Chris Brown, Diddy-Dirty Money, El DeBarge, and Keri Hilson. In between performing in Kanye West’s Sunday Service and touring with Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, the rising artist built a loyal — and rapidly growing — following with independent releases such as Origin and Outer Limits, which showcase her soulful and seductive approach. After garnering over 20 million streams and receiving critical acclaim from NPR, Billboard, HYPEBEAST, Noisey, and UPROXX, Shawn is finally ready to share all of herself and empower an even larger audience with her deeply personal anthems. “I’m a voice for women who know their worth and what they want,” she says. “And won’t settle for anything less.”

6 Common Misconceptions about Probiotics

Many people tend to have mixed reactions to probiotics because of a few myths and misconceptions surrounding them.

Today the market is flooded with an endless variety of supplements which can create confusion in consumers.

Probiotics are available in almost every pharmacy and most grocery stores since they have become a popular addition to people’s diets.

However, they are often advertised incorrectly which can result in people receiving incorrect information about them.

1. I Get Enough Probiotics From My Diet

Most people tend to think that certain food items in their diet like yogurt are good sources of probiotics. But this is not always the case.

The bacteria used in the production of yogurt is usually cow bacteria which doesn’t stay in your gut and leaves your body when you excrete.

Many yogourt brands include ‘live and active’ cultures in their ingredient list but this isn’t true all the time.

For yogurt to be classified as probiotic, it must contain clinically tested probiotic strains of live bacteria which are still alive by the expiry date.

Other fermented food items like Sauerkraut and Kombucha are made using live and active bacteria. However, these items usually go through a long shelf life period before they reach consumers and the bacteria will already be dead by then.

If some bacteria do manage to reach your stomach, the acidic environment may prevent them from being fully effective in your body.

For this reason, food items that are considered ‘probiotic’ cannot be trusted to give the same results as probiotic supplements.

2. Probiotics Are Necessary Only If I Am Taking Antibiotics

People who are prescribed antibiotics are usually recommended to pair them with probiotics.

This is because they help prevent conditions like diarrhea, and secondary infections, ease symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and restore your gut microbiota.

However, the statement that probiotics are only useful if you are taking antibiotics is false.

Several other factors can affect the useful bacteria in your body, some of them being unhealthy eating habits, consumption of alcohol, stress, smoking and certain physical activities.

These lifestyle habits not only affect the bacteria in your gut but the ones in your mouth as well. A lack of helpful bacteria can lead to oral conditions like cavities and plaque buildup.

Taking good quality probiotic supplements can help replenish this bacteria and help improve your dental health.

Smile Brilliant has some of the best quality dental probiotics tablets on the market which are designed to replenish healthy bacteria in your mouth for healthier teeth and immune systems.

Their tablets are backed up with clinical research and specially formulated to support the oral microbiome.

3. All Probiotic Supplements Are The Same

This is a very common conception about probiotics which is not true.

Different probiotic supplements will offer different combinations of beneficial bacteria which are strain-specific and disease-specific.

For example, certain probiotic supplements are curated to help treat a certain condition that other probiotic supplements might not be effective in treating.

Some probiotic supplements contain only a single strain of bacteria while others may contain a combination of different strains.

4. Probiotics Should Be Refrigerated

Not all probiotics should be refrigerated.

The manufacturing process will determine whether a certain probiotic product should be refrigerated and if required, it will be specified in the storage instructions.

However, it is recommended to keep all probiotic products in a cool and dry place since many probiotic strains of bacteria cannot tolerate heat.

5. Probiotics Can Help Prevent Colds

There is very little evidence to suggest that probiotics can help in the effective prevention of colds.

Although many people have experienced a reduction in severity and duration of colds while taking probiotics, there are no verified high-quality trials to prove this.

6. Probiotics Which Have More Bacteria Are More Effective

Just because a probiotic product lists a higher number of bacteria compared to other probiotics doesn’t necessarily mean it is more effective.

Certain strains need lower amounts of bacteria to work more effectively.

ABOUT BLXST
Blxst has architected a new era of West Coast hip-hop and culture by hand as not only a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer but also as a creative visionary who mixes, masters, and self-edits his own videos and artwork. Back in high school, the South Central native taught himself how to produce and record, going on to collaborate with YG, Mozzy, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Rick Ross, and more. Following a string of buzzing singles in 2019, he forged an ironclad creative partnership with Bino Rideaux on their first critically acclaimed Sixtape. During 2020, he partnered with Red Bull Records and unleashed his solo debut EP, No Love Lost, to unanimous tastemaker praise. The deluxe edition of No Love Lost yielded the platinum certified smash Chosen (feat. Ty Dolla $ign and Tyga), posting up over 450 million streams while breaking into the Billboard Hot 100 and hitting #1 at Rhythmic and Urban radio.

Kickstarting 2021, Blxst dropped the Just For Clarity two-pack and Sixtape 2 with Bino Rideaux. He also earned the Billboard Rising Star Award, becoming the first artist to ever receive the honor at the 2021 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Summit. Posting up more than 1 billion streams, he won “Best New Artist Of The Year” at the 2022 XXL Awards, claimed a place in XXL’s coveted 2021 Freshman Class, was selected as a Breakthrough Artist on Amazon Music, an earned nominations at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards and BET Soul Train Awards. These milestones positioned Blxst to create even more impact in 2022 and set the tone for his latest release Before You Go. The project released to critical acclaim, debuting at #90 on the Billboard 200, #11 on the Independent Albums, #19 Current R&B Album, #41 on Current R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The lead single “About You” also impacted heavy at radio, reaching #11 at Urban and #16 at Rhythmic formats. Following the success of Before You Go, Blxst was tapped for high profile collaborations with Kendrick Lamar (“Die Hard”), Chris Brown (“Show It”) and Kalan.FrFr (“No Stoppin”).

JEFF HAMILTON:
Jeff Hamilton began his career as a fashion designer in Paris France. When he arrived in the US he forced his way into the top fashion circles making a name for himself as the creative genius behind Guess? for Men. After leaving Guess? Jeff began designing leather jackets that were much more than articles of clothing. Simply stated: “they were pieces of art”. Soon, Jeff had athletes, entertainers and world leaders beating a path to his door for the pleasure of being draped in one of his remarkable designs. Before long Jeff expanded his idea into the world of sports culminating in the creation of a jacket line that became a must-have for athletes, celebrities and sports-fans alike.  Along the way people began to take notice of the aesthetic beauty of Jeff’s unique designs and workmanship with hand-cut leather appliqués, accented with finely tuned embroidery and occasionally fashioned with metal and or stone adornment. It was clear that these items were meant to be treasured forever, rather than worn till out-of-season.  Jeff ultimately took on a passion for designing specific pieces strictly as art. These earlier pieces generally acknowledged his love of sports icons such as Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan. Today, Jeff has expanded his collection to include tributes to the Legends of Rock including The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, to name a few. HERE
