Roderick Jones on Cyber Security

Despite President Trump’s declaration of October as National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the administration has failed to take the necessary steps to address the growing cybersecurity threats facing the nation so far…

Government and military agencies have had multiple deadlines to review and assess their cyber security status and suggest improvements, but little has been done to implement any changes as of yet.

Available to weigh in is cyber security expert Roderick Jones. The founder of cyber security firm Rubica and a former member of Scotland Yard’s Special Branch where he focused on international terrorism, Roderick understands how cyber security poses a national threat.

According to Roderick, the Trump administration’s policy focused on national infrastructure and against the background of the Equifax breach does not protect the consumer. Washington’s desire to avoid a policy debate actually results in not protecting the country’s consumers.

Roderick points out that’s where Rubica comes in. Unlikely other cyber security precautions which can be highly time consuming and technical, Rubica offers a simple to install app for iOS, Mac, PC, and Android. Once installed the app runs in the background and Rubica’s cyber security experts will keep you safe.

The Rubica team can block data traffic that appears to be nefarious and will reach out if your attention is needed. A typical customer will install Rubica on all key family members and professional colleagues.

Roderick Jones // San Francisco

Roderick Jones is the CEO and founder of Rubica, a cyber security firm. He began his career with Scotland Yard’s Special Branch focused on international terrorism and the close protection of a prominent British cabinet member. Following his move to San Francisco, Roderick founded the private security company Concentric Advisors, and served as CEO for seven years growing it to become the largest and most influential privately held security firm on the west coast of the United States. His work during this period included the design and delivery of security for a number of high-growth Silicon Valley companies. He is also recognized as a leading expert in the field of family and executive security. Roderick has consulted widely on next-generation security projects with the United States military and intelligence community, notably the impact of online gaming and virtual worlds as well as the threat of computer hacking to financial markets. He has been asked to brief at the White House, Downing Street and the Pentagon on a variety of national security topics during his career, and is a frequent guest speaker at national and international conferences. Roderick has a Master’s degree in History from the University of Cambridge and further professional qualifications from MIT.

Ford – “Farm-To-Car”

A recent podcast from 360 Magazine’s culture editor, Thomas Wilmer, details Ford Motor Company’s environmental sustainability efforts. Tom spoke with Janice Tardiff, Elastomeric Materials Technical Expert, and Deborah Mielewski Ph.D. to learn more about Ford’s green initiatives. Tardiff and Mielewski took Tom and his listeners on a tour of Ford’s Research and Innovation center where he would learn about the sustainable materials that are being used to manufacture organic auto parts. Ford is using plants, such as dandelions and agave, and recycled materials to fashion functioning car components that are visually appealing in addition to being eco-friendly. Tom was able to take some photographs during his tour of the facility, one of which depicts a pair of car seats that had been created using recycled plastic bottles. Ford’s strides toward developing a vehicle from sustainable resources is notable and important, especially considering the current state of the Earth. To learn more about the project, listen to the full podcast HERE or on iTunes HERE.

Are Businesses Adapting Quick Enough to Achieve Holiday Sales Success?

Media Opportunity: CEO of Digital Marketing Leader, WebiMax, Touts Social Media as The Key Factor in Holiday Sales Success but Many Businesses Haven’t Adapted Quick Enough to Take Advantage

According to the Washington Post, retailers “pulled down $91.7 billion in digital sales” during the 2017 holiday season. While the trend of an increase in online shopping was nothing new, the increase in shopping from mobile devices was the most staggering. Adobe reported that half of the visits to retailer websites during the holiday season was through tablets and smartphones. More than 28 billion of revenue came from direct purchases through those devices.

In other words, the competition for the online consumer will never be fiercer than 2017. CEO and Founder of Social Media Marketing leader WebiMax, Ken Wisnefski, explains that the best way to attract the mobile user is to hit them on the sites they visit the most: Facebook and Instagram.

“The time to grab the attention of the holiday shopper is now. Competitive pricing and incredible targeting for consumers of just about any industry make Facebook and Instagram the two most important social profiles to capitalize on for businesses this holiday season,” explains Wisnefski.

Wisnefski continued, “The benefits of retargeting on sites like Facebook and Instagram can turn a one-off purchaser during the holiday season into a loyal customer.”

Urgency from retailers will be essential as those looking to compete with the largest companies in the market will face an uphill battle with those who have already been focused on their brand awareness ads. Facebook and Instagram offer the unique opportunity to target a customer base in a cost-efficient manner.

According to Wisnefski:

  • The numbers of online shoppers will once again surge to never before seen heights this holiday season.
  • While the political landscape has certainly been on edge, the economy has been surging and the stock market is on the rise. Americans are ready and willing to spend this holiday season.
  • Apart from exceptional targeting on social profiles, the creative and content on holiday ads must be exceptional to stand out from the competition.

Tailor-made for Porsche motors

Tailor-made for Porsche motors

New oil by LIQUI MOLY: Synthoil Energy A40 0W-40

More motor power means more strain on the motor oil. The wrong oil not only leads to performance losses, but can seriously damage the motor. That’s why the German motor oil and additive specialist LIQUI MOLY has developed a new oil specially for Porsche: Synthoil Energy A40 SAE 0W-40.

The A40 in the name indicates it: The oil is officially approved by Porsche for all vehicles that require an oil with the Porsche A40 standard – which is effectively every Porsche with a gasoline motor. It is a completely newly developed fully synthetic motor oil. The viscosity area 0W-40 is greater than in many conventional oils for cars. This offers greater performance reserves if the motor is under heavy strain. Geographical proximity helped in the cooperation with Porsche: LIQUI MOLY is located just one hour’s drive from the Porsche headquarters.

“This new oil is uncompromisingly designed for sports cars,” says Sebastian Zelger, Director of LIQUI MOLY USA. “With this oil we did not take normal cars into account at all, but developed a lubricant that is tailor-made for Porsche motors.”

About LIQUI MOLY
With around 4,000 items, LIQUI MOLY offers a global, uniquely broad range of automotive chemicals: Motor oils and additives, greases and pastes, sprays and car care, glues and sealants. Founded in 1957, LIQUI MOLY develops and produces exclusively in Germany. There it is the undisputed market leader for additives and is repeatedly voted the best oil brand. The company led by Ernst Prost sells its products in more than 120 countries and generated 489m euros in sales in 2016.

Halloween Candy Map

In case you haven’t noticed all of the pumpkin-lined porch steps or the multitude of horror movie marathons on TV, it’s spooky season! Halloween is less than two weeks away, which means hayrides, haunted houses, and, most importantly, FREE CANDY!!! Well, free for cute kids dressed up like Spiderman or Moana. For adults, Halloween means stocking up on the good stuff to avoid a yard full of toilet paper or having your car decorated with egg yolks. Halloween is a candy manufacturer’s Christmas. According to The National Retail Federation, it’s expected that 2.7 billion dollars will be spent on trick-or-treat candy this year. It may seem like a good idea to buy the cheapest bag of candy you can find, however, when November 1st rolls around and you’re left with three pounds of store-brand lollipops none of the trick-or-treaters wanted to take, bargain shopping might be a decision you’ll regret.

If you want to avoid the horror that is too much leftover candy, you’ll have to fork over a a few extra bucks for the good stuff. You may stroll down the candy aisle at the supermarket amidst the plethora of different chocolates, gummies, sours, and sweets, and think to yourself, how do I know which candy to buy? Well, CandyStore.com, is here to help. Over the past 10 years, CandyStore.com has been shipping tons of bulk candy all across the United States and Canada. They compiled 10 years (2007-2016) of sales data for the months leading up to Halloween and put together an interactive map that details the top three most popular Halloween candies for each state, indicated by pounds distributed. Check out the interactive map HERE to become the go-to house for all of the witches, ghosts, and Chewbaccas in town. Or, if you’d rather not have hoards of little vampires and Pokemon running through your yard but still want to please the kiddos, CandyStore.com also has a list of the WORST candies, so you know exactly what not to buy.

CandyStore.com also offers the option of skipping the trip to supermarket all together. Order online in bulk so you can avoid facing the delicious temptation of sugary goodness in candy aisle.
