Ways to Achieve a Positive Mindset To Help You Succeed

A positive mindset helps people make the best choices and decisions for themselves, their jobs, and those around them. Learning to practice having a positive mindset also fosters a strong relationship with yourself and others as it relies on engaging in and maturing your internal dialogue. It helps in building resilience, creating a positive and optimistic attitude and ultimately leads to greater success and well-being.  The good news is that there are things people can do to have a more positive mindset.

“There are so many benefits of cultivating a positive mindset,” explains Katie Sandler, personal development and career coach. “The goal is to learn how to do it and then continue practicing it until utilizing a positive mindset becomes a way of life. It can be done, and when it is, you will be far more successful and content as a result.”

A positive mindset is a mental and emotional attitude – it’s about making the choice to think positively. If we think positively then typically beneficial behaviors and actions follow. Sandler has helped many people to shift their mindset and use the power of it to achieve goals and become more successful in multiple areas of their life. Some of the ways she has helped her clients to achieve a positive mindset include:

  • Practice mindfulness. When you are living in the moment and are aware of what is going on in the present moment with a kind and open attitude, you are being mindful. Many people worry about the past or the future, which tends to lead to symptoms of stress, depression or anxiety. But, when you attune to the here and now without judgement, you are better able to remain positive and achieve your goals. As your mind wanders, which it’s trained to do, simply acknowledge it and gently bring it back to the present moment by focusing on your breath.
  • Have an attitude of gratitude. Being grateful means noticing even the small things in your life that you appreciate. It’s a way to savor the moment, be positive and look for the possibilities in whatever life throws your way. When you do this on a regular basis, it helps to flex your mindset muscles – train yourself to be grateful and express gratitude and notice the good things that happen all around you.
  • Keep it real. Life is not easy or peachy keen. As a matter of fact, it is actually more difficult than it is easy, but no one wants to admit this. So let’s face the facts – we have to work at having a positive mindset, period, and anything worth having doesn’t come easy because life is hard.
  • Engage your internal dialogue. You know that voice you hear in your head? Well you’re not alone, because we all have an inner voice we hear. The thing is, a lot of people don’t realize that you can in fact engage with that part of yourself, and with a loving and kind attitude, you can work with yourself to mature your mindset.
  • Commit to it and keep practicing. People tend to think that knowing what to do is half the battle, but that’s not true. If you don’t put it into practice then it doesn’t do you much good to know it. You have to learn new habits and ways of being, implement them, test them out, and continually work at getting better at them.
  • Define what success means to you. At the end of the day, how we define success varies for us all, but this definition is for sure: To achieve well-being, a state of fulfillment and contentment, and a positive mindset is the type of success we should all hope for – the type of success we all need and deserve.

“One of the most important things you can do in life is to shift your mindset so that you can truly enjoy the life you’re living,” added Sandler. “It will be beneficial in nearly all areas of your life, helping you to become healthier, happier, and more successful. Make this the year that you put positivity front and center.”

A positive mindset can help people experience greater levels of happiness, and being happier helps people to become more positive – it’s a cycle. In an issue of the journal called Canadian Family Physician, a doctor wrote what he called a prescription for happiness. The three things he prescribed to help people be happier are spending time outdoors in a natural environment daily, starting every morning by thinking of three things to be grateful for, and surrounding yourself with supportive people.

Sandler has provided professional support to many people to help them achieve their personal and professional goals. She routinely works with people to help them identify areas to focus on, paths for personal achievement, how to reach their life goals, and more. The Diana Award launches Anti-Bullying Campaign #Back2School and reveals new bullying survey statistics

This September sees over 10 million children going back to school, with many feeling anxious about being bullied. To kick-off the month’s #Back2School campaign, The Diana Award Anti-Bullying Campaign is encouraging everyone to get involved across social media channels by posting/sharing a picture of them back at school with their advice and if they choose to, text a donation to support the training of young Anti-Bullying Ambassadors in every school.  
A new survey, released today, of over 2,000 adults and 500 young people about their experiences of bullying in school, conducted by YouGov for The Diana Award, reveals:

  • Almost half (47%) of GB adults say they were bullied at school
  • 64% of young people, 8-15yrs, say at least one of their friends has been bullied at school
  • Nearly a quarter, 24% of 15 year olds say their friends are worried about going back to school due to bullying
  • 34% of GB adults and 31% of young people say that Anti-Bullying Ambassadors would have reduced bullying in their schools

As well as reliving their personal experiences of being bullied, celebrities will give their advice and raise awareness of the need for Anti-Bullying Ambassadors in every school. The Diana Award is also providing #Back2School advice and support online and through their social media channels.

Who Really Runs The Country?

Jonathon Prince does. As a visionary “Athli-vist” (athlete-activist), Prince has run over 8,000 miles through 24 states, inspiring hope and raising awareness for his philanthropic endeavors. In 2005, he launched Run 4 Relief with a 2,700-mile run from Los Angeles to Atlanta, stopping to receive the key to the city in New Orleans. The following year, his Run for Relief II took him on a 1,500-mile trek from Atlanta to New York City. Both runs raised money to support families displaced by Hurricane Katrina. In 2010, he created HopeOrDie, promoting the cause with a 3,000-mile run from Santa Monica to Washington, DC.

Now Prince is about to make his fourth cross country trek North America DNA Vol. RUN #TheHumanRace. This run is to champion unity, hope, respect and love for Americans and its global neighbors.

Prince felt compelled to make this run. He said, The times call for people to realize we are more alike than different and we all have potential to create shining moments that exemplify our highest selves and create the kind of world we all deserve to live in. I just want to do something that gets people to think about that”.

Prince will launch the run at the Santa Monica Pier, California on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 7:00am PT and will run cross country 10-30 miles a day, 5 days a week for four and a half months, totaling 3500 miles to New York, with an expected arrival time between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

The cities on the run route include Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Flagstaff-Sedona, Az., Albuquerque, NM. Dallas, Houston, Tx. New Orleans, Mobile & Montgomery, Alabama, Atlanta, Ga. South & North Carolina, The DC, Maryland & Virginia area, New Jersey and arriving in New York City. Supporters can track the run on Instagram at @iamrunner. Prince will pass through Christian, MS, where he received the Key to the city with Robin Roberts.

Students from UCLA, USC and Santa Monica College, Los Angeles area run clubs, Road Runners of America, Compton city officials and We ROCK kids, running group in Orange County have all been invited to the launch to attend and share the kick off moment.

Sponsors who have joined the movement in support include 23andMe, Clear Eyes, GoChef TechnologiesROCKSTAR Energy and Joint Movement.

With the wrapped DNA Vol. RUN support vehicle, Team Prince will visit community organizations, high schools, colleges & universities along the way to run with, make appearances at and speak to students, faculty and staff about his experience on the road and how DNA Vol. RUN can enhance the lives of all of us.

Prince, who is a new dad, is excited to have his young sons Miles (Age 4) and Chase (age one) cross the finish line with him in New York. He says, “This is my first cross country run as a dad. I didn’t have children on the last runs. I’m shopping for a really sturdy double stroller with jogger wheels that can withstand a mile run across the finish line with my kiddos. I’m going to get them baby goggles so the wind doesn’t bother their eyes. Its going to be so amazing to be able to tell them when they grow up that they crossed the finish line with daddy. This race is after all for them and all children. It’s for all of us really.”

Prince will make pit stops in cities across the country to rest, eat, say hello to old and new friend along the way. He invites people to join him for a warm hello along the trail or even to run with him part of the way for as long as they are able.

He says, “I hope to meet many people along the way. If I see you and you’re up to it, please run with me for a half mile. Or just wave as I run by. Say a prayer for me, it gets lonely sometimes on the road. If I make a pit stop in your town, let’s take a selfie and post on your Instagram, so we can inspire people together! Remember your greatness and that we are one. I’ll see you soon!”

PROSPERITY is a feature documentary about his journey across the Americas to discover a more sustainable way for us all to do business and thrive on our Planet. ‘The Urban Monk’ tracks the organic roots of Rodale Publishing; the food revolution of Whole Foods Market; Guayaki’s waged war for rainforest redemption; Terra Cycle’s scheme to drain the oceans of plastic; architect CookFox’s carbon-reducing skyscraper design, alongside many others.
