N.Peal Launches 007 Collection During NYFW

N.PEAL LAUNCHES WOMENS 007 CASHMERE COLLECTION DESIGNED IN CONJUNCTION WITH EON PRODUCTIONS, MAKERS OF THE JAMES BOND FILMS. N.PEAL DELVED INTO THE BOND ARCHIVES TO SELECT A SERIES OF ICONIC LOOKS FROM ACROSS THE PAST 50 YEARS AND REIMAGINED THEM FOR TODAY.

Exclusive cashmere knitwear brand N.Peal is delighted to announce the launch of the first ever 007 women’s cashmere collection presented exclusively on NYFW.COM

James Bond films have always placed women at the heart of the action. From the very outset, allies such as Honey Ryder (Dr. No) and Pussy Galore (Goldfinger) have proved themselves resilient and skillful. The films have since created numerous female characters that live long in the memory, including Tracy Di Vicenzo (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service), May Day (A View To A Kill) and Jinx (Die Another Day), to name a few.The Bond films have also featured powerful female adversaries whose intellect and inventiveness have tested 007’s mettle.

To celebrate all of these iconic women, N.Peal has delved into the Bond archives to select seven classic looks from across the past 50 years and reimagined them for today. Finding inspiration in the shirt worn by Honey Ryder in Dr No (1962) to a deep V neck sweater worn by Holy Goodhead in Moonraker (1979).

The range is supported by two key pieces N.Peal designed and created in collaboration with No Time To Die Costume Designer, Suttirat Anne Larlarb. A Moorland Brown 100% cashmereT-shirt worn by the character Madeleine Swann and the Unisex Navy Blue ribbed army sweater worn by the character James Bond in the film and in the striking character poster. “The N.Peal team worked with my brief, which consisted of detailed photographs of authentic sweaters and several samples of extant vintage pieces, as well as colour thoughts and technical specs” Larlarb says. “When you are dealing with the number of decisions you have to make on a Bond film, with so many important characters and so many vital items of clothing, having a collaboration like the one we had with N.Peal was a godsend.”

N.Peal previously worked with the filmmakers on Skyfall (2012), providing a Blue Wave Roundneck Sweater for Bond and on Spectre (2015), supplying 007 with a superfine cashmereTurtleneck and a light grey Rollneck.

These Important Years Exhibition

ROBERT MARS: These Important Years

May 9 – June 6, 2019

Opening Reception Thursday May 9th 7pm

Gilles Clement Gallery is pleased to present These Important Years, a solo exhibition featuring recent works of contemporary artist Robert Mars. Mars has produced a body of artwork from his studio in Connecticut that celebrates the commonplace objects and brands and icons of an America long past in a thoroughly modern and exquisitely constructed manner. His work highlights the importance that 1950’s and 60’s icons bear in the context of American and global history.

“The images evoke a feeling of nostalgia, but I am not looking back to the past. I present them in a modern and current way to speak to their continued relevance in decades later. The images remain alive and fresh through modern techniques and applications.” – Robert Mars.

Through the application of a rich and layered color palette and tongue in cheek attitude, Mars’ paintings evoke a vintage quality of design and pay homage to the idealized age of growth and hopefulness that was prevalent in the USA at the end of World War II a time before the internet and mobile technology, when there was no such thing as instant digital celebrities, but rather the myth of unique, untouchable and iconic personalities such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Paul Newman, Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren. Combining vintage wallpapers and quilt patterns, Mars’ delves further into the essence of American culture, incorporating a folk art sensibility into a pop art aesthetic, while capturing the timeless relevance and enduring influence of past and contemporary icons on society, technology, politics and fashion.

Barbra Streisand: On The Couch

Barbra Streisand: On the Couch, Shares Deep Insight Into One Of America’s Most Beloved Icons

The widely popular On the Couch series by Alma Bond, Ph.D. has given us an opportunity to discover the lives of Marilyn Monroe, Hillary Clinton, and Jackie O through the eyes of renowned New York psychoanalyst, Dr. Darcy Dale. The fictionalized biographies provided a unique and revealing perspective of their lives.

Now, readers are invited to learn about screen and recording icon Barbra Streisand. In Barbra Streisand: On the Couch, Bond captures the details found in other biographies dedicated to the life of Barbra in a way that provides deep insight into her personality and character.

Dr. Darcy Dale―renowned, pioneering New York City psychiatrist whose expertise has been sought by such larger-than-life women as Jacqueline Onassis Kennedy, Marilyn Monroe, and Hillary Clinton―is confronted by Barbra, dismayed after thirty years of minimally successful therapy. Over the course of a year, Dr. Dale conducts an intimate psychoanalysis, breaking through ego defense mechanisms, and repressions to go deep into the heart and mind of one of America’s last remaining superstars. Barbra’s many dimensions come alive as we hear her story in her own words. She fluctuates between self-inflation and insecurity. She cracks wise. She becomes angry. She weeps. For better or worse, Dr. Dale sees Barbra in all of her raw, most human, aspects, giving readers unprecedented access to her pain and joy.

Barbra is funny, a bit abrasive, but very intelligent. Bond provides interesting insights into what Barbra could have been thinking during pinnacle times in her life, and her state of mind from a psychoanalyst’s point of view. While this book is technically fiction, the facts themselves are all true. Only the thoughts and feelings attributed to Barbra are fictitious, along with the story of her “analysis.” Dr. Bond’s extensive research into the life of Barbra Streisand, along with her professional knowledge of psychology and her beautiful style of writing, give fans of Barbra’s work and her persona fresh insight into a complicated woman – making this biography an enthralling and entertaining read!

“It’s easy to want to get to know the essential Barbra and want to hear her story,” says Dr. Bond. “After reading pretty much everything ever written on Barbra, and then having written a book in which my alter ego, also a psychoanalyst, carries on numerous fictionalized sessions with her over the space of a year, I think I have a very good idea what and how Barbra thinks. To say that Barbra Streisand is an amazing woman is an understatement.”

Alma H. Bond received her Ph.D. from Columbia University, and became a highly successful psychoanalyst in private practice for 37 years in New York City. She “retired” to become a full-time writer. She has written 23 books and her popular On the Couch series has received excellent reviews. Jackie O: On the Couch, the first in the Couch series, received a Pinnacle Book Achievement Award. Bond also wrote the play, “Maria,” about the life of Maria Callas. The play was produced off-off Broadway, toured the South, and was produced in London.
