Elton: Jewel Box

Elton John announces the forthcoming release of Elton: Jewel Box. Released on November 13th via UMe / EMI, Elton: Jewel Box is an unrivaled collection containing 148 songs spanning 1965 to 2019 on 8CD, 4LP, 3LP, 2LP, digital download, and streaming formats.

The ultimate exploration into Elton’s extensive back catalog, Elton: Jewel Box covers deep cuts, rarities from the earliest stages of his and Bernie Taupin’s musical journey, B-side spanning 30 years, and songs discussed in his best-selling, critically acclaimed 2019 memoir Me. The 8 CD boxset of buried treasures comes in a beautiful hardcover book with the discs housed in the back, all wrapped in an outer slipcase. Each section comes accompanied by extensive notes, including a track-by-track commentary by Elton for Deep Cuts. Three different LP collections are also available to pre-order now – a 4LP gatefold black vinyl set of Deep Cuts (curated by Elton himself), a 3LP gatefold black vinyl set of Rarities and B-side highlights, and a 2LP gatefold black vinyl set “And This Is Me…”. All audio was mastered at Abbey Road Studios by GRAMMY-winning mastering engineer Sean Magee. With an unprecedented number of previously unheard and unreleased tracks painstakingly excavated from deep within the UMG archives, this is the ultimate treasure trove for Elton John fans.

As a first taster of some of the many gems gathered within Elton: Jewel Box, “Sing Me No Sad Songs” is today unveiled for the very first time. Listen here. Previously unreleased, the track was written and recorded as a band demo in 1969. “Sing Me No Sad Songs” is a fascinating first taste of what was to come from Elton and lyricist Bernie Taupin, and one that mentions not one, but two, future smashes in its lyrics – “Sad Songs (Say So Much)” from 1984’s Breaking Heartsalbum and Elton’s first UK chart-topping single “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” from 1976.

Speaking of the release, Elton says, “To delve back through every period of my career in such detail for Jewel Box” has been an absolute pleasure. Hearing these long lost tracks again, I find it hard to comprehend just how prolific Bernie and I were during the early days. The songs just poured out of us, and the band were just unbelievable in the studio. I always want to push forward with everything I do and look to the future, but having time during lockdown to take stock and pull these moments from my memory from each era has been a joy. As a devout record collector myself, this project has really excited me, and I couldn’t be happier with the level of craft involved in such a carefully curated, lovingly constructed boxset. I’m sure my fans will enjoy it as much as I have.”

Available to pre-order hereElton: Jewel Box compromises of the below formats:

Disc Guide

Discs 1 & 2: Deep Cuts – A selection of personal favorites, curated by Elton. The box set book includes a track-by-track commentary by Elton.

Discs 3, 4, and 5: Rarities 1965 -1971 – Elton’s much sought-after 1960s and early 1970s demos and music that cemented the foundations of the iconic Elton John / Bernie Taupin writing partnership. The compelling, previously unreleased, missing piece in his illustrious career. Daryl Easlea narrates this fascinating story with contributions from those who were there at the time. These discs encompass 65 songs, all but a few of which have been stored in the vaults for more than 50 years. Most of these demos were recorded during sessions before Elton was signed to a recording contract or released his first album. Also included are the first song ever written by Elton and his debut appearance on a record (both “Come Back Baby” – 1965), Elton and Bernie’s first composition (“Scarecrow” – 1967), and newly-unearthed piano/vocal demos of some of Elton’s most acclaimed songs from his early albums. The packaging appropriately contains rare archival artwork and select original lyric sheets.

Discs 6 & 7: B-Sides 1976-2005 – Non-LP tracks and flipsides, never before compiled together. 36 gems that are now given another chance to sparkle – 17 previously only available on vinyl, resulting in all of Elton’s studio B-sides now being offered digitally for the first time in his career.

Disc 8: And This Is Me . . . – To coincide with the release of the updated paperback edition of Me, the final collection celebrates the songs mentioned by name by Elton in his acclaimed autobiography, closing Jewel Box with the 2020 Academy Award-winning duet with Taron Egerton, “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again.”

Elton: Jewel Box is yet another marker in an incredible few years for the world’s favorite singer-songwriter. Since the release of the ultimate greatest hits album Diamonds in 2017, Elton has undertaken a breathtaking 3 years of activity that are unmatched in their ambition, reach and impact across generations of music fans. Elton announced his record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour at New York’s Gotham Hall in January 2018, with a typically forward-looking virtual reality spectacular. Encompassing 5 continents and over 300 dates, this 3-year-long tour started in September 2018 and marks his retirement from touring after more than 50 years on the road. August 2018 saw Elton named as the most successful male solo artist in Billboard Hot 100 chart history. In 2019, the Farewell Tour was named Billboard’s Top Rock Tour and Pollstar’s Major Tour Of The Year. 2019 also saw the release of Elton’s critically acclaimed global bestselling autobiography, Me. The 2019 epic fantasy musical motion picture of Elton’s life, Rocketman, has been a commercial and critical hit, taking over $200m at the box office. It has won an Oscar, 2 Golden Globe Awards, and a Critics’ Choice Award, and garnered BAFTA nominations. Its soundtrack was also nominated for a GRAMMY Award. 2019 also saw Elton awarded the Légion d’ honneur, France’s highest award, for his lifetime contribution to the arts and the fight against HIV/AIDS.  He was also honored with both a Royal Mail stamp collection and Royal Mint coin collection. Diamonds, the ultimate greatest hits package of Elton and Bernie, has spent a staggering 148 consecutive weeks in the UK album charts, including 29 weeks in the Top 20 in 2020 alone, selling over a million copies worldwide in the process and recently reaching double-platinum status in the UK.

An unparalleled career that has forever changed the cultural landscape, Elton John’s collaborations with Bernie Taupin and others continue to shape the cultural landscape, break records, top charts, and win new fans across the generations. We’ve had the book, the film, the farewell tour, the fashion collections, and the greatest hits. And now, with Elton: Jewel Box, fans finally have the treasure trove of previously unheard and unreleased tracks they have been waiting for from the world’s favorite singer-songwriter.

In 1992, Elton established the Elton John AIDS Foundation, which today is one of the leading non-profit HIV/AIDS organizations and has raised over $450 million to date in the global fight against HIV/AIDS. In June 2019, President Emmanuel Macron presented Elton the Légion d’ honneur, France’s highest award, for his lifetime contribution to the arts and the fight against HIV/AIDS. Elton was awarded the Companion of Honour in the 2020 New Year Honours list. The highest acknowledgment in the list, Elton, became one of only 64 people to hold the honor. September 2019 saw The Royal Mail issue a set of 12 stamps as a tribute to Elton being one of the most popular and enduring music artists of all time. Elton is one of only two individual music artists to be featured in a dedicated stamp issue. In July 2020, the Royal Mint released an Elton John commemorative coin, the second in their music legends series, to celebrate “one of the most successful and enduring artists of all time.”

15 Tips for Starting a Plant-Based Diet

Moving to a plant-based diet can be difficult, especially if you’re used to eating mostly animal products or processed foods. However, this switch can challenge you and nourish you better than your former lifestyle. Luckily, you’re not the first person to make this change, so it’s easy to find techniques that will help make the adjustment a little easier for you.

1. Know Why You’re Transitioning to a New Diet

Plant-based diets don’t necessarily mean you’re only eating plants. You can have meat and dairy on the table, too. A plant-based diet simply signifies that the majority of what you eat comes from produce.

You might have chosen to transition to this diet to decrease your carbon footprint. Eating less red meat can make your household more environmentally friendly, particularly since livestock takes up so many resources. Whatever your reason for transitioning to a plant-based diet is, make sure you’re doing it for your own benefit rather than anyone else’s.

2. Do Your Research

Learn the macros in your food. To plan your diet correctly, you need to understand what nutrients you need and which foods offer them. Switching to a plant-based diet can help you become healthier, but you’ll only reap the benefits if you put in the work and acknowledge what your body needs.

To keep yourself nourished and healthy, you’ll have to learn which foods your body needs on what day. Learning more about your needs can help you educate others and make the choices that will benefit you in the long run.

3. Make Meal Plans

Sometimes, planning your macros for a single day can feel overwhelming. That’s why you should plan to get a whole week’s meals under your control and manage your nutrients effectively. Meal planning means you won’t be scrambling to think of something to eat for dinner that provides the nutrition you need.

Meal planning correctly can also help you cut down on food waste, as you’ll be using everything you bought. You’ll also save money and time since you won’t have to head to the grocery store every evening by planning the week at once. You can breeze by the snacks you used to eat without feeling tempted to pick them up.

4. Build a Budget

It’s entirely possible to eat completely healthy and clean on a budget. You just have to plan around the staples of your meals for a week and save leftover money or use it to buy healthy snacks that can keep you nourished throughout the day.

Budgeting goes hand-in-hand with meal planning. Planning your meals for the week ahead requires you to build a budget based on your needs. Without meal planning, you might stray from your intended plan and end up devoid of the nourishment your body requires.

5. Find and Use Coupons

Coupons can be your best friend when it comes to changing your lifestyle. If you aren’t sure how to afford some items you want on your budget, see if you can find coupons for some of the items in your cart.

You can subscribe to grocery stores’ email lists to receive daily or weekly coupons. If you shop somewhere frequently, it’s worth subscribing to get discounts from them. It’s even handier if you have a store card that takes down the price of your grocery trip.

6. Eat Breakfast

Going plant-based doesn’t mean you need to give up breakfast. Consider whole-grain cereal options. The sugary stuff may taste great, but it’s not necessarily on the dietary plan you want to follow.

You can couple whole-grain breakfast foods with all-natural animal products to keep you full. Having a few hard-boiled eggs can satisfy you throughout the day, and they pair well with toast. If you want a dash of sugar, consider spreading jam on whole-grain bread.

7. Remind Yourself of the Benefits

Plant-based diets offer numerous benefits. When you feel close to quitting and going back to junk food or eating excess meat, remind yourself of how much healthier you’ve been since you began.

You’ll obtain more vitamins naturally when consuming a plant-based diet, without the help of supplements, due to the nature of the food you eat. You may also lessen or eliminate your risk of contracting certain ailments and diseases. If you want to stick with your plant-based diet, keep reminding yourself of the good you’re doing your body while on it.

8. Curb Your Sweet Tooth

Look into foods with naturally occurring sugars if you have cravings. Fruits would make for a great dessert or midday snack — and there’s no sugar added to them. They will never taste like cake, but you can train your brain to enjoy them just as much by saving them as a special after-dinner snack.

You should check to see which fruits are in season before buying them, as you’ll likely find higher quality if you choose them based on their optimized growing times. For example, strawberries are plentiful in the summer, but blackberries are great in the winter.

9. Find Supporters

If the rest of your household isn’t switching to this diet with you, consider getting them involved. Changing your eating habits can feel a lot less lonely when you know someone’s in your corner and having the same cravings as you. Plus, you can motivate one another if you start to slip from the habits you want to keep.

10. Keep a Journal of Your Progress

A journal is a great tool you can look back on in the future to motivate yourself. If you mark your daily food intake every day, you can glance at it to see how far you’ve come when you’re feeling hopeless. You can also gain more ideas for meal plans from your journal, and sharing it with your family members might motivate them to join you in your lifestyle change.

11. Take a Cooking Class

When you don’t know which recipes go best with your new diet, consider learning from the professionals. You may have to pay for a cooking class, but making food at someone else’s teaching could be fun, especially if you’re doing it with a friend. You’re paying for the experience and some quality recipes you can take home with you.

12. Eat Enough Food

You might feel fuller longer due to the quality of the food you eat, but you still need to maintain a caloric intake that supports you. Your recommended daily calories may change depending on your age and activity level, so you shouldn’t assume something that works for someone else will work for you. Even if you feel fuller for longer, you should strive to meet your maintenance caloric needs to remain healthy.

13. Make Snacking More Challenging

Remove snack foods from your home. If you have family members or roommates who aren’t embarking on this adventure with you, ask them to keep the junk food out of your area so you feel less tempted to eat it.

People often drift toward snacks because they’re more convenient than cooking a meal. Consider finding healthy items you can simply grab and go, such as bananas or nuts. When you have these nutritious options and eliminate or hide unhealthy snacks, you may feel more inclined to eat them.

14. Prep Your Meals the Day Before

Get your lunches for the next day ready in the evening so you don’t scramble to find something to take to work with you. Worse, you could forget your lunch entirely and have to find something nearby that may not be part of your new lifestyle. By taking extra time the evening before, you’ll become more mindful of the food you put in your body and support your new diet with little effort.

15. Throw It in a Salad

When you don’t know what to make, just throw everything into a salad. Lettuce is an excellent base for a healthy meal because you can add several foods and top them with a tasty dressing. Consider choosing something for protein, such as chickpeas or eggs, as well as a handful of vegetables or fruits to nourish you.

Plant-Based Diets Made Easy

While it initially may be difficult to change your eating habits, it will get easier as time goes on. Learn what meals to make before committing to the switch, and focus on getting enough nutritional food every day. As long as you have others to keep you accountable and a record to look back on, you’ll find that it’s easy to keep up with your new plant-based lifestyle.

PLUM GUIDE EXTENDS ITS FOOTPRINT WORLDWIDE

WITH AN EXPANDED PRESENCE IN THE U.S.

Recognized as a global benchmark for quality, innovative vacation booking platform, Plum Guide (www.plumguide.com), the world’s most recommended homestay company, is extending its footprint worldwide with an expanded presence in the United States.  A success story since it launched in London in 2016, Plum Guide has attracted $57 million in investments and has become the premium alternative to Airbnb.

Ready for the post-pandemic global travel boom anticipated with this holiday season, Plum Guide offers the affluent traveler access to exceptional properties across the United States, such as New York, Los Angeles, Aspen, Miami, Joshua Tree, and the Hamptons among their roster of 500 destinations worldwide including some of the world’s most cosmopolitan cities.

According to Co-Founder & CEO Doron Meyassed, “Restaurants have the Michelin Star. Books have the New York Times Bestseller List. Vacation homes now have the Plum Award. Our mission is to find and award the best homes in the USA with our mark of trusted quality.” He adds, “It’s time to upend our competition’s model of letting anyone rate  a home.  We are taking a powerful new stance on quality control by allocating a team of trained professional home-reviewers dedicated to ferreting out ‘home truths.’ Our quality standard is one the world can trust.”

Plum Guide is more than simply a booking platform. It is, in essence, the Michelin guide for home rentals. With standards so high that they eliminate literally millions from the 5,000,000+ vacation homes listed online, accepting only 3% of submitted places to stay.  Understanding that the pandemic postponed travel plans for many, leaving some with a residual sense of travel anxiety, Plum Guide takes the guesswork out of booking a stay with their highly curated approach to global vacation home selection. Guests can expect excellence; quality is guaranteed no matter the price point.

WHAT SETS PLUM GUIDE APART

Plum Guide has a unique model for curating homes unlike their competitors.  They use a combination of technology, data, and human expertise. The quality control process culminates in an onsite visit from a specially trained “Home Critic” and only homes who have passed this final test receive the Plum Guide Award.

“Home truths” are revealed on each listing —such as, assessments revealing if the kitchen is indeed fully functional, or if the living area really has enough dedicated space for a family of four. It is this highly curated approach that sets Plum Guide apart.  Explains Co-Founder and CEO Doron Meyassed, “Not only has every nominated and awarded home been subject to a meticulous vetting process but our comprehensive price-checking assures that our prices are consistently the best available.” Given the stringent testing before being accepted as a home rental option, only one in a 100 pass the 150 different criteria set forth by Plum Guide.  It is important to note that such “musts” include only properties in a desirable neighborhood with three places for breakfast within a five-minute walk. Additional “musts” include rooms with plenty of natural light, ample space for socializing, bedrooms quiet enough for restful sleep, showers with strong water pressure and fast Wi-Fi connection.

THE BACK STORY

The origins of Plum Guide are personal, rooted in a vacation home Meyassed booked in Tel Aviv. “I felt like I won the lottery. I asked myself, ‘Why isn’t it always like this? Why is booking a home so hit-and-miss?’” Then he realized, “Every time someone books a holiday, it shouldn’t feel like a lottery.” So how to avoid the gamble? A team of architects, travelers, interior designers, and psychologists was assembled to scientifically decode the secret ingredients of the perfect stay. 150 criteria determining everything from shower pressure to Wi-Fi speed as well as design credentials became the stringent standards allowing just the smallest fraction of homes submitted to be accepted as Plum Guide properties.

THE PLUM AWARD

The Plum Award is a coveted honor. To earn it, homes must pass all four stages of The Plum Test, successfully meeting 150 criteria, with a personal home visit from an independent Home Critic as the final deciding factor. Leaving nothing to chance, with every new city or country opened, Plum Guide creates a database of available homes which are then systematically reviewed. The multi-stage vetting process allows travellers to select from a remarkable selection of the world’s best homes in the US as well as global destinations including Paris, Milan, and Rome. New locations are constantly being added as Plum Guide continues to delight customers with their rigorous selection of only the best homes available from a worldwide catalogue.

Myths About Traveling the World

Do you dream of the open road but find yourself held back by fear? Was that fear planted by many things you’ve heard over the years or impressions you’ve picked up here and there? There are many myths about travel that keep people from following their dreams, and below are just a few of them.

You Have to Be Rich

One of the most common misconceptions is that everyone who travels is rich. Not only is this untrue, but you are less likely to meet rich people while you’re traveling because they are saving money and working all the time. While it’s true that there’s a certain jet set lifestyle attainable only by the super-wealthy, most travelers are ordinary people. Many of them live and work abroad or work while they’re on the road.

Others have saved up for years while working very ordinary jobs, such as waiting tables. If you’ve got a professional job and other assets, such as a home, you’re already ahead of the game. You could even rent out your home while you’re on the road or tap into the equity in your home if you need to get more cash. To find out more about taking out a home equity loan and to learn about recent laws, you can review a guide about the process.

It’s Dangerous

Are there dangerous places in the world? Absolutely, and this includes countries where there is a great deal of political instability or very high crime. However, would it surprise you to learn that there are also countries that are considered much safer than the United States?

Paying attention to ways to stay safe is one of many expert traveling tips to think about. However, there are a lot of other factors to consider as well. Some countries are only dangerous in certain areas where tourists rarely venture. Of course, people aren’t the only danger. Bad weather, dangerous animals and other natural threats are out there too—but you probably have some of them at home as well. Do your research, be smart, and there’s no reason you can’t be as safe as you are in your hometown.

Language is a Barrier

It’s a false belief that everyone speaks English, but it’s also untrue that no one does. The big myth here though is that language is something that should keep you at home. Smart phone apps mean it’s easier than ever to make your way around without knowing any of the language, but it’s also very easy to learn a few basic, polite phrases in any language, which can take you a long way. You’d be surprised at how far you can get with this and gestures.

The key here is to practice travel etiquette and be respectful and not assume that everyone will be able to speak English. Even if you’ve just heard them do so with someone else, it’s polite to approach someone and ask if they speak English before launching into the rest of what you have to say. Preferably, you should ask this question in their language. Let go of your language-based fears and you’ll be surprised at the many ways you can connect with others.

You need to add a widget, row, or prebuilt layout before you’ll see anything here. 🙂

Tips to help you keep your eyes healthy

We all want to protect our eyes, but not everyone knows the best ways to keep them healthy. Whether you’ve been experiencing discomfort or are simply becoming more aware of your health, it’s never too late to start giving your eyes the care and attention they deserve. And don’t worry, you don’t have to do anything drastic – some small lifestyle changes should do the trick. This blog contains some easy things you can do to maintain your vision and help your eyes to feel more comfortable.

Avoid rubbing your eyes

This is easier said than done, but rubbing your eyes is one of the biggest causes of infections, especially if you’re touching them when you haven’t washed your hands. In fact, touching your eyes is one of the most common causes of pink eye, which can leave them feeling itchy and watery. If you often have itchy or tired eyes, it’s worth looking at the root cause of this discomfort rather than rubbing them and potentially making the problem worse. Consider buying some eye drops to relieve feelings of discomfort.

Visit the optician

Regularly having eye exams is one of the best ways to maintain your eye health. While most people see their opticians when they’re due a new prescription, you can actually learn a lot more about your eyes when undergoing a comprehensive eye exam. Depending on your age and medical history, opticians may recommend that you have a more in-depth examination to rule out any health conditions. The best part about these exams is that lots of conditions can be easily treated if they’re spotted early, so don’t skip out on your appointment when it’s booked.

Wear sunglasses

It’s easy to forget to bring your sunglasses along with you when out and about, but the right pair of shades can do a lot to protect your vision from the damaging effects of the sun. UV rays have the power to increase your risk of macular degeneration and cataracts, so you want to avoid them at all costs. When buying a new pair of sunglasses, look for a label that says they offer 100% UV protection, otherwise, you might not be getting the protection you need. It’s also a good idea to choose wraparound styles to shield your eyes from all angles.

Take breaks from screens

Nearly everyone in this day and age spends the best part of their day looking at a screen. While it’s unavoidable for work, it’s important to take regular breaks to avoid getting eye strain. Make sure you’re looking away from your screen and fixating on a far-away object every 20 minutes or so. If you use computers a lot, you could also consider wearing blue light glasses to filter out some of the harmful light emitted by screens. Finally, if at all possible, try to find other activities to do at home that don’t involve looking at your phone, computer or TV at least some of the time.

How Sleep Apnea Affects Mental Health and What You Can Do About It

You might not know that you have sleep apnea. However, your partner can probably tell.

This rule holds even if they don’t kick you during the night to get you to stop snoring. The sleep disturbances caused by this disorder can impact your mood, turning normally pleasant people into snarling grumps. Here’s how sleep apnea affects mental health and what you can do about it.

1. It Makes You Edgier

Do you find yourself snapping at your spouse or children when they ask you an innocent question? Undiagnosed sleep apnea can make you irritable and edgy.

Research shows that sleep-deprived individuals report an increase in negative emotions like anger and a decrease in positive ones. Further complicating the issue is how mood disorders such as mild depression can often disrupt sleep patterns. The combination results in a vicious cycle, with sleeplessness increasing depressive symptoms that only spur further insomnia.

Talk to your doctor if possible. While you don’t want to rely on prescription sleep aids, a short-term course can help you reset your cycles. Over-the-counter aids such as Benadryl also assist some in getting their Zzz’s. A doctor can also help by informing you of what other treatment options exist outside of medication. Many people report holistic methods work well for them. Whatever the case, your mood should improve once you get sufficient rest.

2. It Disrupts Focus

Remember the last time your alarm didn’t wake you up in time for work in the morning? Chances are, you felt “off” the remainder of the day.

Sleep apnea causes you to stop breathing multiple times while you sleep. You might not remember waking up from this phenomenon — but your body absorbs the effects as if you tossed and turned all night. The impact on your cognitive abilities remains the same.

You might not even know if you have the disorder. Approximately 80% of those with severe to moderate sleep apnea remain undiagnosed. The process involves undergoing a sleep study, which isn’t without complicating factors. Many folks find it challenging to sleep with wires taped hither and yon, leading to many inconclusive and false-negative results.

However, you might feel the effects in the workplace. Many people with sleep apnea report feeling tired all day despite getting what they thought was a full night of sleep. Pay close attention to the way you feel throughout the day at work and elsewhere. If you find that your normally detail-oriented self starts missing zeroes on budget reports, talk to your doctor.

3. It Could Spur Compulsive Overeating

Your body contains two stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol. Adrenaline spurs your initial fight-or-flight response, and cortisol takes over when stress becomes long-term, preparing your body for a prolonged onslaught. The problem is, you can’t escape modern stressors like unpaid debt the way early humans outran hungry lions.

As a result, excess cortisol production prepares you for physical exertion that never comes. This hormone makes you crave foods high in fat and calories for lasting energy — but you never burn it off. The result is unwanted pounds that stress you out even more.

4. It Can Cause Drowsy Driving

Did you know that remaining awake for more than 18 hours impairs your driving ability as much as a blood alcohol content of 0.05%? That’s right — drowsy driving is as dangerous as taking the wheel when intoxicated.

Your youth and good health won’t protect you from an auto accident. A wreck causing ongoing health issues, such as those resulting in traumatic brain injury (TBI), can cause severe financial hardship, given the lack of single-payer coverage in the United States. You could find yourself out of a job at a time when you need your employer-sponsored health insurance more than ever and end up buried in medical debt.

Pay attention if you notice that you frequently arrive at home or work with little recollection of how you got there other than knowing you must have driven. Everyone zones out behind the wheel occasionally, but you should call your doctor if it happens all the time.

5. It Can Impact Your Close Relationships

Even if you can blame your irritable mood on sleep apnea and the resulting disruption, knowing the reason doesn’t spare your family the grief of living with a grump. If left untreated, the associated behavioral changes could damage your closest relationships.

Therefore, if you won’t seek help for yourself, do so for the people you love. Living with or even just having a close with relationship with someone who is moody and down all the time can really take a toll on your friends and family, especially if they are trying their best to help you and be supportive but are met with hostility. This kind of dynamic can eventually lead to people distancing themselves from you.

You’ll likely discover that you will personally feel happier than ever too once you address the underlying cause of your irritability. You might even live longer — loneliness increases all-cause mortality.

Methods of Treating Sleep Apnea

What should you expect when you speak with your doctor? You have several treatment options to explore:

  • CPAP: A CPAP machine is the gold standard in treating diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea. It forces your airway open, making breathing possible. If you have health insurance, your carrier will probably cover the cost of your device, minus any copays and deductibles.
  • Surgery: Some people can’t tolerate the mask that the CPAP device requires. In such cases, doctors may perform surgery to remove excess tissue from your soft palate and stabilize your upper airway.
  • Holistic Methods: Many people find that shedding excess weight helps improve sleep apnea symptoms. Elevating your head on numerous pillows can keep tissue from blocking your airways and disrupting your slumber.

How to Take Care of Your Tools

If you tend to use your tools a lot, you’ll know that they can become dirty and damaged after a while. However, a lot of people know that if you take care of your tools they will take  care of you.

Below you will find a few tips that can help you to look after your tools so they last longer:

Use the Right Tool for the Job

If you want to keep your tools in good condition you will need to use the right tool for the right job. This may seem obvious, but you’ll be surprised at how many people don’t do this. If you use the wrong tool, there’s always a chance that you could damage it and even injure yourself.

Keep Them Organized

One of the best ways to look after your tools is to keep them organized. Again, this may seem obvious, but it’s a great way to keep them in good condition. It also helps to prevent you from using the wrong tool.

Imagine not keeping your tools organized, they could end up sitting in a pile on the corner of a worktop. When tools aren’t organized they can break under the weight of others or fall on the floor and become damaged.

Repair Your Tools Right Away

If your tools become slightly damaged, you should repair them right away. You can do this with a good metal adhesive. If you leave your tools to become even more damaged they won’t work as well as they should. In addition to this, they could even cause injuries.

If you don’t think you can repair your tool because it’s completely broken, invest in a new one. Just make sure you take good care of the replacement so that it lasts longer. Your bank account will thank you for this.

Don’t Drop Your Tools

While you might think that your tools are tough, they can become damaged if they are dropped. It’s all too easy to drop your tools on a hard floor after you’re done using them. However, this can damage them. Tools can still break no matter how tough they may be. Treat them with care and they will look after you. If you have to drop your tools, do it carefully and onto a surface that isn’t too hard. However, you should avoid dropping them completely if you can.

Keep Your Tools Clean

You don’t need to clean your tools after every time you have used them. However, you do need to keep them clean. The cleaner your tools are, the less likely they are to work well. Give your tools a clean to get rid of the grime, dirt, and dust. Sometimes just a quick wipe with a damp cloth can make a lot of difference. Just be sure that your tools are completely dry before you put them back in your toolbox

Use the above tips to help you to take care of your tools so they continue to work well for you.

Useful Things to Think About When Moving to a New Home

Moving can be a stressful experience, especially if you are doing it for the first time. Fortunately, there are plenty of steps that you can take to make the process less daunting and more manageable. This article aims to highlight a handful of these steps so that you can enjoy the process of moving to a new home.

Planning Your Move

Easily one of the most important things you can do when it comes to moving is to make a solid and comprehensive moving plan. This helps to keep you on track and guide you through the process of moving. Plus, it can show you how to delegate the tasks that need doing, so that your family can help you too.

Create a Timeline. The first thing you should be doing when making your moving plan is to create an overall timeline for your moving process. By knowing when you need each major step of your move to happen, you can start planning around these events. Plus, it’ll allow you to delegate between your most and least important tasks for the moving process. This is also a good time to start requesting moving quotes.

Set Yourself Deadlines. One of the best ways to make sure you stay on track for your move is to set yourself deadlines for the various jobs and tasks that you need to keep on top of. For example, saying you will fully pack the garage in two weeks’ time allows you to focus on getting the garage sorted, meaning you aren’t trying to focus on everything that needs doing all at once.

Moving Service or Move Yourself? You should decide early on whether you want to hire the services of a moving company or move yourself. Either is a viable option but knowing ahead of time allows you to make preparations for whatever possibility you decide on.

What Are You Packing?

Once your moving plan is in place, the next most important thing to think about is what you are packing for the move and how you are doing it. After all, packing your belongings is how you get everything from point A to point B. One thing to remember, though, is that packing will always take longer than you expect.

Declutter as You Pack. One of the best things you can do to help make your packing process easier is to declutter as you pack. There is no sense in moving items you don’t want, so by decluttering as you go, you can reduce how much you have to move overall.

Is There Enough Room? An important question to ask yourself when you are packing is whether you are going to have enough space in your new home for everything you are packing. If the answer to that question is no, then you might need to consider hiring a storage unit, like the kind you find at storagearea.com. This allows you to keep all of your belongings while still not overloading your new home.

Make Your Move

Finally, all that is left for you to do now is to make your move. Whatever your plan is, you can follow it through now. Relax, enjoy the process, and get excited to move into your new home! After all, it’s not every day that you move into a new place.
