Smino Baguetti Artwork

Smino – Baguetti

In the wise opening words of J.I.D, “I need a minute to meditate.” On the new song “Baguetti,” Smino (Zero Fatigue/Downtown/Interscope) is joined by Dreamville’s J.I.D and superproducer Kenny Beats to grant us all three minutes to be still with our thoughts. In his typical eccentric manner, the St. Louis artist acknowledges God for not forsaking him while calling out those who haven’t dropped a metaphorical penny into the collection plate of society. J.I.D then wraps up today’s meditation session with a TED Talk-level explanation of his credentials in the music industry. Fans around the world can now set aside their daily time of peace on all platforms after they aggressively demanded an official release following a snippet.

Earlier this year, Smino released his song “Tempo” for his hardcore fanbase. Last year, Smino was featured on the Dreamville posse cut, “Sacrifices,” with J. Cole, Saba, and Earthgang. He also nabbed a coveted guest spot on Chance the Rapper’s album, The Big Day, on the song, “Eternal,” which peaked at #25 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. The duo performed the track for the first time at Lollapalooza. Smino is currently gearing up to release new music.

Vacation in Mendocino County

Now that shelter-in-place has been modified to allow Mendocino County to welcome visitors, it’s time to plan the perfect escape to bypass the crowds and refresh the soul. Visitors draw strength from redwoods that soar to the heavens and are reinvigorated by stunning views and crashing waves. Communing with nature reduces stress and can boost both mental and physical health. There’s even evidence that it helps build immunity. Here are three charming inns that offer specials and packages that enable guests to take advantage of the wild and wonderful woods and water that make the Mendocino Coast magical, along with a heritage train that offers a Railbikes experience, the ultimate way to get up-close and personal with nature.

Let Fort Bragg’s Noyo River wash life’s cares away. Noyo Harbor Inn & Restaurant, a gracious hilltop property with sweeping views over a quaint working harbor, offers a complimentary Noyo Meander Experience for two (via Liquid Fusion Kayaking) and a bottle of local wine with any three-night stay. Guests can relax with a guided float in a two-person tandem kayak along the placid waters of the Noyo River, where all ages are delighted by curious harbor seals, amazed by gigantic sea lions, teased by mischievous river otters, and intrigued by coastal birds. It’s a dry and comfortable 90-minute ride – no special clothes, previous experience, or equipment are required. The inn itself has refurbished and updated rooms throughout that provide spacious comfort while retaining some of the exquisite features left by the Norwegian shipbuilders who embellished the inn. Many of the elegantly appointed rooms boast fireplaces, soaking tubs, and private balconies. Their charming restaurant is currently serving diners on the outdoor patio overlooking the river and boat docks, and at select tables spread out across the lush grounds, and features pre-Prohibition era cocktails and California Coastal Cuisine, including fresh wild-caught fish from the harbor below and herbs and vegetables gathered from the Chef’s garden. Room service (including signature cocktails) is available. The Noyo Meander Experience special offer is available now through Labor Day weekend.

The iconic Little River Inn has a wonderful package for families who love the outdoors. Owned and operated by the same family for five generations, the inn is a turn-of-the-century stunner, surrounded by manicured gardens and just steps away from the hikeable Van Damme State Park and the scenic Van Damme State Beach. The Inn is appropriate for any budget, with 65 rooms – from the affordable to the downright luxurious – all with ocean views. Everything needed for a fabulous vacation is right onsite. The full-service resort boasts an Audubon-certified golf course, regulation tennis courts, a spa, and an award-winning restaurant that is currently serving diners in the heated garden area or at the ocean-view picnics tables set up in the front of the property. The folks at the Brewery Gulch Inn know that no outdoor sojourn would be complete without a bonfire on a (mostly deserted) beach. Their Big River Bonfire Package finds guests watching the sun slip below the horizon and if they’re lucky, they will catch a glimpse of the mythical green flash while enjoying toasting marshmallows on Mendocino’s most beloved beach. As darkness falls and the stars begin their dance across the sky, a warm bonfire crackles, custom-built by the inn’s dedicated Fanner of the Flame. If the night is clear and moonless, stargazers may be rewarded by a picture-perfect view of the Milky Way. Included in this package are all the fixin’s for s’mores; beach chairs; a beach blanket; a Bluetooth speaker; and Northern California’s version of the Map to the Stars. Crafted from eco-salvaged redwood on a bluff high over stunning Smuggler’s Cove, Brewery Gulch Inn is an architectural masterpiece. Named as one of California’s Top Destination Resorts in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards (2020 marks their 4th time making the list), the property encompasses three acres of mature pines and redwoods, wooded glens, wetland ponds, and gardens for strolling. Inside there is warmly glowing arts and crafts furniture and a four-sided glass and steel fireplace. In the rooms, there are feather beds cloaked in Sferra linens, Molton Brown products, Himalayan bath salts, and thick Abyss towels. Their full-time executive chef prepares complimentary cooked-to-order breakfasts and a coveted nightly dinner buffet and wine hour that highlights locally-sourced, organic ingredients. For an additional $75, guests can add the Big River Bonfire Package to any room. Available year-round.

The California Western Railroad’s Skunk Train, a 135-year-old heritage train line that takes visitors deep into ancient Redwood forests, offers an additional and highly unique way to enjoy the tracks – riding them on specially designed Railbikes. The Railbikes run in-between trains and sit securely on the tracks, allowing passengers to enjoy the redwoods in a peaceful, quiet, and highly personal way, observing trees that are more than 1,000 years old. Electric-powered and virtually silent, these custom-built, two-person Railbikes breeze along the world-famous Redwood Route, wending their way along scenic Pudding Creek, crossing over majestic wooden trestle bridges, and journeying into the heart of the ancient redwoods of Mendocino County. Bathed in dappled sunlight and a light breeze, without the need to steer, riders are unbound, able to look around at the wonder of this untouched stretch of the natural world, spotting wildlife such as blue herons and osprey, an occasional lounging turtle, and perhaps a playful river otter. The Skunk Train offers the only experience in the US where riders can enjoy electric-powered railbikes (vs pedal-powered; though riders can choose to pedal as well, or do a mix of both). The Railbikes run out of the Fort Bragg station and cost $250 per bike, with room for two riders. To elevate the experience, there is a luxury picnic package that includes a picnic basket with an assortment of charcuterie for two, a picnic blanket, two go-anywhere wine glasses, and a beverage of choice for $395 for two. The first ride of the day at 8:30 am is offered at an early-bird rate of $195 per bike. For a more traditional experience, the Skunk Train has carried passengers along the Redwood Route since 1885. Riders travel over bridges and deep into the heart of the redwoods, through terrain that has remained essentially undisturbed for centuries. Beginning on June 20, the Skunk Train reintroduced the Pudding Creek Express train out of Fort Bragg. This 7-mile round-trip journey to Glen Blair Junction snakes along the Pudding Creek Estuary, as riders travel over some of the first tracks laid down by the California Western Railroad in 1885. Or take the Wolf Tree Turn train out of Willits. This 2-hour round-trip train from Willits climbs up to the highest point of the line (elevation 1,740 feet), through Tunnel #2, and down into the Noyo River Canyon.

As Mendocino County reopens to outside visitors, they are very mindful of their role as stewards, and ask all visitors to do their part to help keep the area safe. The businesses above have all been self-certified to host visitors to the utmost safety standards and strictest cleaning protocols, above and beyond what is mandated by the June 12 order of the Mendocino County Public Health Office. Masks must be worn in the county when not eating and drinking and people are asked to stay six feet away from anyone not in their household group.

Wherever You Go by The Avalanches illustrated by Mina Tocalini for 360 MAGAZINE.

The Avalanches – Wherever You Go

The Avalanches shared two new songs from their forthcoming album along with a pair of stunning visualizers. “Wherever You Go” feat. Jamie XX, Neneh Cherry and CLYPSO premiered in the U.K. earlier today on the BBC 6 Music’s breakfast show.

The Avalanches, with co-production from acclaimed UK musician/producer Jamie XX, have created an epic track that begins with greetings from planet Earth – sampled from The Voyager Golden Record, a gold-plated copper disk launched into space by Voyager 1 and 2 in 1977 – and erupts in a frenzy. Vocals from the iconic Neneh Cherry and Sydney-based troptronica producer CLYPSO capture this moment in time, when love and music still offer hope in the face of “the whole damn world incinerating.” Mick Jones (Big Audio Dynamite, The Clash) plays piano on the track.

“Reflecting Light” feat. Sananda Maitreya and Vashti Bunyan examines the sounds that haunt our lives and reverberate through space. Sananda Maritreya’s deeply soulful vocals evoke transformation amid a cosmic audio swirl that incorporates a sample of “Glow Worms,” which originally appeared on influential English singer-songwriter Vashti Bunyan’s 1970 debut album, Just Another Diamond Day.

The Avalanches unveiled their first new music since 2016’s Wildflower – the track “We Will Always Love You” feat. Blood Orange, which was praised as “a plush compendium of longing” by The New York Times. “Running Red Lights” feat. Rivers Cuomo & Pink Siifu followed in March, earning attention from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NME, Billboard and The FADER, among others. The accompanying video was created in loving memory of David Berman, and stars dancer/choreographer Erik Cavanaugh with a cameo by Hollywood billboard queen Angelyne.

On their groundbreaking debut, Since I Left You, The Avalanches presented the world with a totally unique sound, crafted by meticulously combining over 3,500 vinyl samples. This approach set a precedent for dance music, inspiring a whole generation of musicians and producers. Released in Australia in 2000 and in the U.S. and the U.K. in 2001, Since I Left You is now regarded as a modern classic, It was named one of the year’s best albums by critics around the world and later placed in the Top 10 of Pitchfork’s Top 200 Albums of the 2000s and in the Top 20 of Rolling Stone’s Greatest EDM Albums of All Time. The video for the title track won Best Video at the 2001 MTV Europe Music Awards and was named as one of the top music videos of the 2000s by Pitchfork.

The release and subsequent touring in support of Since I Left You was followed by a 16-year radio silence, which was broken with the release of The Avalanches’ sophomore album, Wildflower (Astralwerks). It debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Vinyl Albums chart and atop the Australian Albums chart in 2016. Wildflower earned six ARIA Award nominations and international acclaim, with The Guardian hailing it as “a joyous journey” and Pitchfork proclaiming it “better than just about any music ever made” and “an album that could have been made by nobody but the Avalanches.” About Astralwerks: Established in 1993 in New York City, Astralwerks was the brainchild of Caroline Records staffers who saw an opportunity for a label focused on the nascent electronic and ambient scene. Now based at the historic Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood, Astralwerks has emerged as a modern, artist-first label and the #1 market share leader for dance/electronic music in the U.S. Combining a scalable, independent and global-thinking ethos with the ability to tap into the resources of a major label has enabled Astralwerks to sign such artists as ILLENIUM, Jonas Blue, Alison Wonderland, EDEN, ZHU and Alesso. As a testament to its pioneering approach, Astralwerks has amassed 30 GRAMMY® nominations, taken home six GRAMMY Awards and had historic releases from the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Swedish House Mafia, Halsey, Porter Robinson, Phoenix, Eric Prydz, Fatboy Slim and many others. The label has also released such massive singles as the 5x Platinum “Happier” by Marshmello + Bastille and FISHER’s “Losing It.”

The Untitled Space’s Online Exhibitions

The Untitled Space is pleased to present “Lola Jiblazee: True World Story,” an online solo exhibition premiering on Tuesday July 21st. Lola Jiblazee is a New York based artist from Tbilisi, Georgia who primarily works with acrylic paint and digital forms. Influenced in her formative years by strong female role models during Georgia’s Civil War, Lola developed a passion to echo the empowerment of women. Lola Jiblazee’s latest series “True World Story” explores hope, love, and courage during the COVID-19 pandemic. Isolated during the lockdown, Lola turned to social media and asked her followers to share their positive quarantine stories. Those stories inspired her latest series, with each painting including the personal story of her subjects.

Jiblazee grew up in the Republic of Georgia in the nineties during their Civil War. She had been under curfew and isolated, went without water and electricity, and was separated from loved ones for months. She struggled to overcome the PTSD that ensued but the experiences also made her stronger. Through her artwork, she attempts to convey how others can find joy in simple things which can help overcome tough times and remind people how beautiful life can be.

In addition, the Untitled Space continues to present “Tom Smith: STRIP” the first in a series of online summer solo exhibitions. In celebration of LGTBQ Pride Month, “Tom Smith: STRIP” premiered his fantasy installations on Tuesday June 30th, 2020

Indira Cesarine Studio and The Untitled Space showcase “The Labyrinth,” an installation and exhibition of works featuring photography, video, painting, and sculpture, as well as a series of performances inspired by the artwork. The exhibition opened with an artist reception on March 12th, 2020 featuring a special performance by renowned modern dancer Katherine Crockett. Due to the pandemic, the exhibition closed on March 13th, and the updated exhibition dates are June 24 – August 28, 2020 by appointment according to CDC guidelines.

There is also select artwork from Sarupa Sidaarth, Anna Sampson, and Chistina Massey on virtual display at The Untitled Space. Be sure to explore their digital galleries and look forward to socially distant viewings in person.

Botswana eVisa Applications

Travelers to Botswana will soon be able to complete visa applications online and ease their entry into the country with Pangea IT. The new service will be hugely beneficial to travelers as well as reduce the government’s investment of funds, time, paperwork, and manpower allocated for visa applications.

Israel’s Pangea IT, which specializes in digital transformation of government and business services, has been selected by the government of Botswana to integrate its eVisa solution. This will enable visitors to Botswana to obtain a visa online and have a seamless entry upon arrival at all the land and air arrival points in the country.

Online visas are becoming more popular as both governments and travelers are increasingly embracing the digital age. The Covid-19 global health crisis is expected to accelerate the trend, as tourists will be looking at reducing their contacts in their home countries and at the travel destination. In the case of Botswana, this is extremely important since the country has a limited number of diplomatic offices abroad so the eVisa option will make traveling to the popular safari destination easier for visitors from various countries.

Pangea has been active in Botswana since 2003 when the company installed a digital birth and death registration system which is still in operation. In 2010, the Israeli company deployed a computerized immigration and citizenship system (ICS) in Botswana.

“We are in the process of integrating our eVisa solution and expect to have it operational till the end of the year,” said Uzy Rozenthal, Pangea EVP and general manager government division. “eVisa will dramatically speed up the entry process in Botswana and will translate into a substantial savings in both administration costs and time needed without compromising border security.”

Tori Kelly – Solitude

Today, two-time GRAMMY winner Tori Kelly drops her acoustic version of Drake’s “Time Flies” in anticipation for her upcoming EP, Solitude. Her lullaby cover precedes the five-song EP that Tori recorded during quarantine which will be released on August 14.

Tori penned three of the EP’s tracks at home. After recording acoustic demos, she worked remotely with producers Monro, Spencer Stewart and Stint to complete “Value” and “Don’t Take Me Home.” On the funky, exuberant “Unbothered” – a much-needed dose of hope, looking to the good times ahead. The EP closes with the highly personal “Glad,” a soulful ballad that Tori wrote for her husband, producing and recording the song herself. In addition to the work for her upcoming EP, Tori began collaborating with other artists online via her “QuaranTEA with Tori” series and working on new music.

“I’ve never been more thankful for my home studio than I have during this season of being quarantined,” says Tori Kelly. “In some ways, it felt like I was going back to my roots, when I would be in my room, making songs and posting covers on YouTube. A lot of change has happened since my last album, so it felt great to just freely write what was on my heart and be inspired by different stories. I had so much fun creating this EP and I’m excited to share this new chapter of my music.”
