Global Audience Invited to Engage At Home to Celebrate Accessible Fashion

UPPER NYACK, NY (August 25, 2020) –CreakyJoints®, a Global Healthy Living Foundation digital patient community for people with all forms of arthritis, today announces it will present the Spring/Summer 2021 Tumbler and Tipsy® by Michael Kuluva collection timed to New York Fashion Week. As a designer with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and CreakyJoints member, Michael advocates for social distancing and following local guidelines to stay safe and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, “The Newest Normal” collection event –  filmed in Canada where Michael is residing during the pandemic — will be presented virtually and premiere on YouTube on September 16, 2020 at 8pm ET. Immediately preceding the premiere, Michael will participate in a live #CreakyChats on Twitter to discuss the inspiration behind his collection.

As the Spring/Summer 2021 Tumbler and Tipsy® virtual show starts, viewers will meet arthritis advocateEmily Sirotich, whose sleep is disturbed by pain and is seeking support from the CreakyJoints website. It won’t be long before she crosses path with Michael and gets magically transported to the collection presentation. Once there and in partnership with Cherrytree Records, her journey will be punctuated by music from global music superstars including Lady Gaga, Sting, Shaggy and more.

“I’m thrilled to bring my COVID-conscious collection to a global audience because being physically distant does not preclude joint celebrations,” said Michael Kuluva, designer of Tumbler and Tipsy. “My new collection was inspired by my desire to inject light, color, and happiness into our world, which may feel smaller as we hunker down to protect each other during the pandemic. When I get dressed in something that looks amazing and feels great, it sets the tone for the rest of my day. I hope my collection inspires self-care.”

“My involvement in the Tumbler and Tipsy Fashion Show highlights the importance of bringing lived experiences into the spotlight.  Arthritis advocacy can take many forms, and it is inspiring to see Michael Kuluva showcase the experience of arthritis patients on the world-stage,” said Emily Sirotich, a PhD student at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada and a member of the Canadian Arthritis Patient Alliance, CreakyJoints, and the COVID-19 Global Rheumatology Alliance.

The Newest Normal

Michael continues to innovate, filling The Newest Normal with comfortable clothing that is great for lounging around in, but stands out from the crowd with high volume colors and glam touches that will make the wearer feel confident. Always inclusive, Michael’s clothing is easy to put on and many of the collection pieces will have hand-painted, glow-in the-dark details thoughtfully placed to emphasize where people living with arthritis experience pain – on the inside and out.

“The pandemic has upended everyone’s lives, particularly those who are at increased risk because of underlying conditions or living with a chronic disease, like I do. When I need support, I’m glad I can count on CreakyJoints to be there for me. CreakyJoints parent organization, the Global Healthy Living Foundation, jumped into action and launched a Covid19 patient leadership council and support program, available at GHLF.org. Additionally, I can find community day or night on their social media channels, log my symptoms into the ArthritisPower mobile app and participate in their monthly #CreakyChats,” added Mr. Kuluva.

Marsha’s House: Shelter for LGBTQ+

In Greenwich Village near where Stonewall Inn resides, a monument will be built to honor the legacy of Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, trailblazers and history-makers for the LGBTQ+ community. Marsha P. Johnson was a black transgender woman and drag queen, whose outspoken activism and radical vision during the Gay Liberation Movement continues to inspire people today.

A monument isn’t the only place bearing her memory. Marsha’s House- operated by the nonprofit Project Renewal- opened on February 15, 2017 to continue to serve the community as Marsha did, by taking in homeless LGBTQ+ young adults. With the added risks and discrimination that they face, Marsha’s House seeks to provide valuable resources and shelter to these LGBTQ+ youth.

According to a report done by the National Institutes of Health, around 62% of homeless LGBTQ+ youth have faced discrimination from their families. Jazmine Pérez, Program Director of Marsha’s House, stressed the importance of having a “safe space dedicated to [LGBTQ+ homeless youth]” as “New York City had never had housing tailored to their needs.”

These youth face particular adversities that are further complicated when alternative housing options do not have the facilities to aid them, or are outright discriminatory towards them. A study done by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln shows that 41% of homeless and runaway LGBTQ+ adolescents they interviewed have major depression, in comparison to 28% of homeless heterosexual adolescents interviewed.

Marsha’s House boasts a variety of programs catered towards some of the issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face. Pérez outlines services which include “referrals to legal supportive services, education, healthcare, and employment programs.”

Additionally, clients that come to Marsha’s House are assured personalized living arrangements that assist each individual in finding employment and housing. “Our Case Managers and Peer Counselors meet with clients to ensure compliance with their individual living plan. They work closely with our Job Developer, Vocational Counselor, and Housing Coordinator to secure employment and housing.”

Concerns over Covid-19 pandemic are ever prevalent in the context of shared living facilities, like homeless shelters. However, Marsha’s House eases some of this concern by screening potential clients for the virus, enforcing social distancing, and cutting down accommodation from 81 beds to 60 in its 5-floor-walk-up facility. The facility maintains 20 rooms of various sizes, from single rooms to larger rooms that accommodate up to 6 people.

But Covid-19 hasn’t been the only adversity Marsha’s House has faced in recent years. The Trump administration has continued to be a source of disparaging policies and remarks against the LGBTQ+ community. On July 23, 2020, the Department of Housing and Urban Development formally announced a proposal that would reverse the 2012 Equal Access Rule, which warrants protection for homeless transgender people against discrimination by homeless shelters and other federally funded alternative housing.

This comes as a setback and large blow to the transgender community. A 2015 survey done by The National Center for Transgender Equality shows that “70% of respondents who stayed in a shelter in the past year reported some form of mistreatment, including being harassed, sexually or physically assaulted, or kicked out because of being transgender.” The HUD’s rollback on the Equal Access Rule would only serve to undo the progress that has been made to make homeless shelters more safe to the marginalized people that need them.

“The rhetoric and policies of the Trump administration have disregarded the very identities of our clients and staff, especially when it comes to the intersectionality of our existence,” said Pérez. “Speaking personally, as a woman of color with trans experience, I feel like I have three strikes against me in the eyes of this administration.”

Despite these incredible challenges they face, Marsha’s House continues to receive equally incredible help- from the support coming from their progressive state of New York, to the generous donors that help fund Project Renewal, to the operations staff that help run things every single day. “Our Marsha’s House Heroes are our operations staff. As essential workers, they have not skipped a beat with reporting to work and providing the support our clients needed. Being that we are a shelter, we operate 24/7/365, and our operations staff members are always here for their full 8-hour shifts.”

MADISON BEER – BABY

VIDEO OUT NOW

TAKEN FROM DEBUT

ALBUM LIFE SUPPORT

WATCH HERE

Madison Beer release her latest single “Baby” via Sing It Loud/First Access Entertainment on exclusive license to Epic Records. With the drop of the single comes a dreamy voyeuristic video that finds Madison plucked from a picturesque scene and dropped into the dark reality of life. “Baby” is taken from Madison’s forthcoming debut full length album Life Support, out later this year. You can listen to the single here.

“Coming out of a dark time mentally I inevitably had to build my confidence back up,” says Madison. “Writing ‘Baby’ made me feel in control of myself and my body again in the best way. When I wrote ‘Baby’ I was not only reminding myself that I can have what I deserve but also warning the next person that comes into my life that being with me is conditional . ‘If you wanna be my baby’ then know I’m going to be loud, quiet, wild, sexy, shy, high, low. I’m not going to apologize for who I am or shrink myself down anymore so if you can’t deal, then keep walking. I am regaining my confidence and this song truly makes me feel powerful and I hope it supplies anyone who might need a boost of confidence the same thing.”

Madison’s debut album, a strong personal and artistic statement, is slated for release later this year. “Her soon to be released album,” states V Magazine, “will surely pay homage to her years of growth in the spotlight with an entirely new depth of clarity.” Life Support sees Madison where she thrives – commanding complete creative control through writing her own songs, producing and creating her own visuals. The album will feature previous releases “Good In Goodbye,” “Selfish,” and “Stained Glass” which have a combined total stream count of over 282 million. “Selfish” is now also certified Gold in the US.

Prior to signing with Epic Recordslate last year, Madison Beer achieved unprecedented success as an independent artist with her partner First Access Entertainment. Her debut EP As She Pleases boasts over 950 million streams and made her the first independent female solo artist to break into the Top 20 radio charts, after having debuted in the Top 5 on iTunes in 18 countries and in the Top 10 in 42 countries worldwide. Globally, Beer has over 2 billion streams across her catalogue.

She’s attracted the endorsement of Time, NME, V MagazineBillboard who named her among its coveted “21 Under 21” list and Rolling Stone who hailed her as a “raising pop star.” Madison will be debuting “Baby” on The Late Late show with James Corden on August 26th.

ORAVA – NOW I KNOW

With his new music video for Now I Know just released, Orava – the French-born, London-based multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer – is gearing up to release his debut album ‘Behind The Wave’ on September 25th. This rising artist should be on everyone’s radar this year. A graduate of the Musician Institute of London, Orava draws inspiration from French touch, classic electronic, DnB, and traditional rock, blending analog with digital, homemade recordings with elaborate production, and vintage instruments with synthetic textures.

Born Axel Gerard and crafting his music between England and his native France since 2018, Orava is named after a stream in north-western Slovakia that roughly translates as “roaring river.” Inspired by artists like Daft Punk, Phoenix, and Depeche Mode, Orava’s compositions tackle the common hopes, doubts and fears of his generation, drawing mostly from his own experiences.

We spoke with Orava about the inspiration behind his new album, his recent music video for “Now I Know,” and his plans for the coming year.

1. What is the creative inspiration for the new album?

I get inspired by my daily life and my own experiences. This album is about the fears, doubts and hopes of my generation. Musically speaking, I would say that blending genres is the main inspiration of my music.

2. Tell us a little bit about your background and upbringing. When did you start writing music?

I got into music very early as a child. I started taking guitar lessons at age 7 and taught myself the piano after a few years. I remember recording my first demos around the age of 10, using a loop pedal and improvising melodies over chord-progressions. My songwriting pretty much came out of my guitar-playing. When I was 18, I moved to the UK and studied at the Musician Institute of London to become a session-guitarist. I wanted to do more and slowly started to produce my own music. This is how the Orava project and my debut album “Behind the Wave” came about.

3. What drew you to combine genres like house and traditional rock?

I started playing the guitar at age 7 and grew up listening to a lot of rock, punk and metal music. I got into electronic music a bit later, around the age of 20. I just tried to make the type of music I wanted to hear more often.

4. Is there anyone you credit with influencing your style?

Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, Phoenix, Electric Light Orchestra… There are many more but these bands definitely had a lot of influence on the making of my album “Behind the Wave”.

5. Can you tell us a little bit about the message behind Now I Know?

I wrote “Now I Know” to express the difficulty we have as individuals to change our vision on life. Many of us tend to focus on trouble and forget that everything is a matter of perspective. I have struggled with this for a while and writing this song was therapeutic in the sense that it helped me move forward as a person.

6. Why did you decide to shoot the music video at Vercors Regional Natural Park?

The video emphasizes the song’s subject with a mysterious storyline featuring a character running away from his problems. I was looking for big and empty landscapes and the Vercors Park just seemed to be the perfect spot.

7. How did you use the video to show your own creative process?

The first scene of the video is very close from my real creative process. Recording in my home studio by myself is a big part of my life. The scenario is an interpretation of different elements of my music such as introspection, loneliness and the fear of failure.

8. Your album art was shot by French photographer Richard Bellia, known for his work with Kurt Cobain, The Cure, Joe Strummer, and Serge Gainsbourg. What was it like working with Richard?

Richard Bellia shot some of the most iconic artists and musicians of our era and I was a big fan of his work way before meeting him. The photoshoot took place in Metz. (North-East of France) where we’re both from. Bellia’s into analog photography which happens to be one of my main passions besides music. He quickly understood the type of aesthetics I was going for and the session felt very spontaneous. I remember him saying “I think we’ve got it” after one specific shot, which ended up being the cover for my single “Now I Know”.

9. How does your French heritage influence your style?

I look up to a lot of French bands and artists such as Phoenix, Daft Punk or M83. This scene is living proof that music has no frontiers and allowed me to feel legitimate singing in English. I have a strong attachment to my cultural heritage but also feel very English in my way of approaching music. Living in London was an opportunity to discover a broad range of cultures and meet musicians from all over the world. It certainly pushed me to be very eclectic in my creative choices, I tend to mix a lot of genres in my songs, from French touch to traditional rock and electronic music.

10. How do you use vocals to enhance your instruments?

I don’t. I’d say I do the opposite. The instruments enhance my voice. I always compose the music and write the melodies before recording any vocals.

11. Do you use your platform and voice in any way in the community?

My main task as an artist is to convey emotions through my music and lyrics. I guess it’s a positive thing in the sense that my music is full of hope.

12. Where do you hope your career takes you in the future?

On tour! I have spent a lot of time making music in studios this past two years and I can’t wait to hit the stage. My only aim is to have people to relate with the overall message I’m trying to express in my songs.

Ten Slots with the Most Wonderful Graphics

Online slots have come a long way in their relatively short history. Whereas early titles were very clearly based on actual slot machines, advances in computer-generated images and connection speeds have allowed developers to get really creative. Modern online video slots often bear little resemblance to real-world slots. For many players, the wonderful graphics on offer are a big part of why they play slots.

In this article, we look at ten of the slots with graphics, animations, and artwork that really make them stand out from the crowd. Here are our favourite 10 slots in terms of their visual content alone!

Book of Dead by Play ‘n’ Go

Set in a Pharaoh’s Tomb, Play ‘n’ Go’s Book of Dead slot is probably the best looking Egyptian-themed slot on the market today. The game’s reels are sandwiched between great stone pillars and the symbols are all typical images from the forgotten civilisation. Each has been beautifully illustrated and gold detailing really makes them pop off the reels.

Standout performer at all online casinos

The standout feature is certainly the Book of Dead Free Spins mode. We zoom in on the book itself and flick through the pages. The expanding symbols throughout the feature magically transform too, making for some potentially epic winning combinations.

Planet of the Apes by NetEnt

This masterpiece of slot design is based on the Planet of the Apes spinoff movies. The game starts with an extravagant intro with real footage of the apes attacking human cities from the films. The reels are split into two different sets of reels, meaning it’s kind of like playing two slots at the same time.

Being a licensed slot, all symbols are represented by photoreal pictures and there’s no shortage of clips from the movies on which the title was based. Bringing the action to life are the chimps that periodically storm across the bottom of the reels or breakout of the symbols to take part in another destructive rampage. If you enjoyed the action-packed movies, we reckon you’ll love the slot too!

1,429 Uncharted Seas by Thunderkick

This nautical-themed slot with great graphics is by the innovative firm Thunderkick. On 1,429 Uncharted Seas, the action takes place on a treasure map of old. Throughout the game, there are beautiful illustrations of sea monsters, epic voyages amidst choppy seas, and traditional pictures of the sun, moon, and stars – which sailors of the day would use to navigate.

So different makes it so beautiful

Whilst the lavish animations that standout on some of our other selections are absent from the title, we really think the art style alone makes this one worthy of inclusion. The various symbols, the map itself, and full-page illustrations really look like the kind you’d see on ancient maps depicting strange lands. These give the title exactly the vibe you’d expect from a slot based on the seafarers of a forgotten time!

Gonzo’s Quest by NetEnt

Despite being almost 10 years old, Gonzo’s Quest is still one of the best-looking casino games around. The classic NetEnt Aztec adventure slot takes place at a South American temple. The symbols are represented by mysterious symbols from the ancient civilisation and the cascading reel dynamic has become a much-loved staple of many online slots.

The game is brought to life by Gonzo himself who watches over the action, ever ready to leap for joy at the player’s successes. He’s on hand to march us off to the second screen on which the game’s free spins feature takes place too. If you manage to drop a massive win, our intrepid adventurer pal catches the falling prize in his helmet before dancing a merry jig!

Birds on Wire by Thunderkick

Our second selection by Thunderkick, Birds on Wire is an amusing slot that’s all about electrocuting cute little birdies that are minding their own business. Each row of symbols is a different telegraph wire. When you click Spin, the birds jump up in unison, and flutter out of view. They’re then replaced by another set of 15 feathered friends.

Again, this one doesn’t have extravagant animations, but the art style used throughout gives it loads of character. It’s a quirky-looking slot and this matches the quirky subject matter. There are, of course, some animations. Our personal favourite is when you do match three of the same birds along a win line. A current suddenly runs through the cable and zaps them all, with tragic, yet hilarious, consequences!

Attack on Retro by Microgaming

Attack on Retro is a vision of the future from the past. You know how people (particularly movie directors) from the 1980s thought that we’d all be wearing neon suits and have wild haircuts? Well, it’s like a slot version of that.

The game is set in front of a futuristic cityscape and ominous robots scuttle up and down the side of the reels. When they line up with each other, the Attack Feature starts and a swarm of the robots descend onto the reels, adding high value symbols. Along with the garish colour scheme and plenty of animative touches, the artists got really wild with their character and symbol designs. Hoverboards, keytars, and boomboxes, are the symbols because, of course, we’ll all eventually own one of these symbols of the future from the 1980s!

Age of Asgard by Yggdrasil

Age of Asgard is a fantasy-lover’s dream and Yggdrasil’s artists really got creative when designing it. There are two sets of reels, each with their own symbols. The top set represents good and features fearsome female warriors. Meanwhile, dragons, trolls, and soldiers from an undead army are the high value symbols from the evil reel set below. All these high value symbols appear as stacks, allowing for lavish, full-length portraits of each.

Age of Asgard really comes to life when you trigger one of the special features. The Clash Feature pits fighters against one another, conjuring Wild Symbols to scatter across the reels. Then the Randomizer Wheel can transport players to a new reel set for the Ragnarok Free Spins. Surrounded by shadowy creatures and licked by the flames of two smouldering torches, the bonus feature makes the game even more atmospheric!

Arctic Valor by Microgaming

Arctic Valor is another slot that’s sure to appeal to fantasy fans. Again, the character symbols could each be taken directly from the pages of Tolkien. When these form part of epic winning combinations, they come to life with dramatic animative sequences.

At the top of the reels hang precarious-looking icicles. These can fall at random and the player must smash them to reveal bonus features such as Wild Symbols. If you manage to activate the Bonus Feature itself, you’re instantly magicked off to a different set of reels deep within an icy cave. Yet more icicles cascade down the reels throughout the feature transforming symbols in their path. All told, it’s a very impressive offering from one of the industry’s most experienced companies.

Raging Rex by Play ‘n’ Go

This prehistoric slot takes place deep in a mysterious jungle where fearsome dinosaurs are our only companions. The forest background to Raging Rex is alive with various creatures, which makes for a highly atmospheric experience.

Each of the dinosaur symbols animates when they form a winning combination. They’ll let out a bloodcurdling roar or grunt before wins are awarded. Meanwhile, the Primal Rage feature presents players with a stacked Raging Rex. The enormous reptile’s scream provides the soundtrack as the massive, and expertly illustrated, Wild Symbol jumps to new positions on the reels!

Warlords: Crystals of Power by NetEnt

Last on our list of slots with the best graphics is another fantasy-themed game. NetEnt’s Warlords: Crystals of Power starts with an impressive opening sequence that really wouldn’t be out of place on a modern video game. During the intro, we’re introduced to each of the characters and the creatures that support them in battle.

Best game of 2020

Again, as with Arctic Valor and Age of Asgard, the background and symbols for the title are impressively illustrated. They really give the feel of a battlefield and each of the mighty warriors and their powerful beastly familiars have a strong look of their own. They come alive when they form a winning combination and all other wins set the reels themselves ablaze.

Visually, it’s all very impressive and the designers managed to create a real sense of the magic within each of the power crystals that the warriors protect.  During the Free Spins mode, fireballs, daggers, and other weaponry fly. All of this combines to make Warlords: Crystals of Power easily one of the best-looking games on the market today.

You can step on the deck and visit recreated rooms of the legendary ship to get that realistic experience like the Titanic’s passengers decades ago. The organizers assure that those who visited their exhibition at least once would always keep Titanic’s story in their hearts.

This magnificent place will change your vision of entertaining routine as nobody gets bored there. No wonder that this resort is titled the Palace because once you enter its doors, you dive into the parallel universe with the gorgeous halls, Michelin-starred restaurants, and lavish casinos. Things to know when scheduling a voyage to Vegas

When you are in Vegas, you won’t let yourself get bored. However, there are some rules you must know when planning to visit the city of dazzle:

In Vegas, it is forbidden to drink alcohol if you are under 21.

You can’t stop a taxi on the street in Vegas. Taxis can take passengers only in the designated spots. Usually, they locate near hotels, restaurants, and casinos.

You can get married within an hour in any chapel if you provide your ID. Vegas marriages are the fastest and easy-going, though we can’t say the same thing about the divorces. When considering tying the knot in Vegas, better think twice not to pass through a tiresome divorce process afterward.

Take gambling mindfully! Though casinos and wagering activities are allowed in Nevada, there are many pitfalls that gamblers must learn before visiting a gambling spot. According to the WorldBookmakers’ experts, bettors can start wager on real money only if they set up a strategy in advance. A good strategy is a key to hit the bank on wagering and gambling.

Summing up

People who have been in Vegas at least once admit that this majestic city stole their hearts forever. If you plan a trip to the neon city, pick up the sightseeing you want to visit beforehand. You can schedule a shopping marathon, attend the largest museums in the area, go camping to the legendary Canyon, and try your fortune at the luxurious casinos. So many awesome spots and gorgeous places to visit along the way! Vegas is full of opportunities that you can discover firsthand.
