Astro Hippie

Electro-funk star, multi-instrumentalist, producer and life-long stoner GRiZ, today announced the launch of two premium cannabis lines – the THC focused, Astro Hippie, debuting in Michigan, and the nationally available CBD brand, Telescope.

Astro Hippie is a window into the stoner culture of yesteryear, a top-shelf, tantalizingly potent series of flower strains geared towards experimenters and tokers who want to explore life in maximum color; who want to listen to music that tickles their ears and blows their minds; who want to road trip in a beat up van and crank mixtapes. It’s a love letter to the weed culture GRiZ grew up in, and a deliberate rebuttal to the pristine, faceless, private equity brands that are sprouting up post-legalization.

Growing up in Southfield, Michigan, Grant Kwiecinski aka GRiZ, has been getting blazed long before his music career took off, and he remains an outspoken advocate for cannabis, even as he’s risen from playing small clubs to selling out amphitheaters. Growing up selling pot while waiting tables, he’s known the cannabis industry for decades, and previously dropped a bud collab, GRiZ Kush, back in 2017. That experience taught him a lot, and since then he’s been working to create his own lines that pair his values with exceptional products and an embrace of the DIY stoner culture he has been immersed in for years.

Stalking growers, cultivators and fellow lifers, GRiZ developed Astro Hippie with Pure Options, a long-time cultivator in Michigan. With funky out of this world flavor profiles in mind, Astro-Hippie will be available in three different strains G Funk, Mr. B OG, and Tie Dye Medusa, all tested to guarantee maximum THC levels for lift-off. Inclusivity and energy are key to GRiZ’s mission, and he focused on solely working with partners who have decades’ long roots in cannabis culture like himself.

Astro Hippie will debut in Michigan, where it all started for GRiZ, an homage to his home state, where every year he produces the annual 12 Days of GRiZMAS series, which has raised over $200k for charity in the last two years alone.

As his knowledge of the marijuana plant has grown, so has GRiZ’s understanding and appreciation of its medicinal benefits, which led to the CBD line, Telescope, a range of products which aims to bring wellness into focus. GRiZ is a huge proponent of using cannabis for pain relief, and with Telescope he’s created an exceptionally high quality CBD range that allows users of all types to smoke and benefit from the plant without having to blast off.

Telescope’s CBD hemp flower is offered in three delectable flavors, the sativa dominant hybrid Astronaut Ice Cream, that features complex sweet cherries notes with a strong essence of lime and skunky pine; and the indica dominant hybrid Milky Way, a potent mixture of lavender, cinnamon and orange. Cosmic Candy, the pre-rolled pack offerings, blends flavorsome notes of black pepper and perfectly ripened fruits.

The gourmet gummies are offered in a 10:1 CBD:THC recipe with hemp-derived Delta 9 THC, giving users a euphoric experience delivered with precision. The gummies will initially launch in two bright flavors of Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Sunset Sorbet, with additional flavors added seasonally.

The 1000mg Vibe Check tincture is on the leading edge of CBD tinctures in the marketplace in that it features cannabis derived terpenes. These terpenes not only give it a unique and incredible flavor profile but also help bring out the positive effects of the cannabinoids in a process known as the entourage effect. It is a defined spectrum tincture that includes CBD, CBG, CBC, and THC.

MAALOT Roma is a boutique hotel developed around the concept of a lounge with private bespoke rooms. Set in an historical building, the property surprises the guests at arrival. On the ground floor, a central court with a glass ceiling welcomes guests in a winter garden where the Don Pasquale restaurant is located. Sofas and chairs made in silky fabric and vibrant colourful details complete the look and feel to make the bistro an all-day lounge.

Still on the ground floor there is a bar area: a cosy spot in darker hues of browns and greens. Capella Gray – Gyalis

Praised by the likes of Joe Budden & Ebro Darden as being “the song of the summer,” Bronx native Capella Grey debuted his highly anticipated visual for “Gyalis.” Shot on location in his hometown, the Brennan Rowe directed visual captures the heart and soul of New York’s uptown movement. Watch HERE.

Creating an undeniable summer hit, the song has dominated radio airwaves, YouTube views, and has seen remix efforts from Kranium, A Boogie, French Montana, Tory Lanez, Fivio Foreign & more. Described by Chris Brown as being “the hardest shit out right now,” “Gyalis” (a popular patois term to describe a player/playboy) peaked at #1 on Apple’s R&B/Soul charts as well as landing the #1 spot on Shazam’s Top 100 in the United States. Blending the slowed bassline of “Back That Azz Up” over Grey’s West Indian sing-song melody, “Gyalis” is undeniably a hit record.

In the visual, Capella showcases that he’s a modern-day vocalist who can switch from song to rap to chant in the same line, Capella’s smoothed out flow marries his mid-tempo grooves flawlessly. Merging his Jamaican heritage, uptown New York City upbringing and melodic church rooting, Capella Grey has created a new yet nostalgic feel that invites listeners of all generations into his world. Personifying the term “vibe responsibly,” the visual features Capella’s friends, family and fans rallying around him and championing his success. Capella delivers riveting performance shots utilizing a vintage New York City taxi cab, an ode to his time as a Taxi driver during his earlier years.

About Capella Grey

Every once in a while, an artist comes along and reminds listeners what music is supposed to sound like. In today’s trendy viral video dominated space, traditional R&B artists have had to play the background. Hip Hop purists have been replaced. And musically trained vocalists have to trade in their talent for a call and response anthem infectious enough to start a TikTok movement, but not Capella Grey. Attracting people with his talents, charm and great energy, Grey played around different Churches in New York City. There were even times he had premonitions of his “big break” being that of a background singer for a superstar. But one day, an unstructured freestyle would change his life and align him amongst the stars. The 26-year old Bronx native has figured out a way to creatively match today’s sound with the authentic elements of musicianship. Peaking at No.1 on Apple Music’s Top 25: New York City and No. 1 on Shazam in the United States, Grey has already begun to prove himself and why his sound is necessary. As a skilled songwriter, his words are embodied into harmony that translates to the streets, but in a way that doesn’t alienate the ladies either. “I want everyone to catch the vibe. Grab a shorty, do something,” says the young heartthrob who now has ladies crying when he’s on stage. Currently, Capella’s working on his debut Capitol Records project, due out later this year.

24LeftEye – Life of a Henxhman Two

Rising Atlanta rap star 24Lefteye returns with Life of a Henxhman 2, a project that radiates his unaffected, yet inescapable cool. A sequel to 2020’s Life of a Henxhman, the new release includes features from fellow Atlanta standout Benji Blue Bills and more, and it’s laced with colorful production from AR, Falsecut, and 808 Spinz, among others. The project also arrives with a video for the melancholic “Addict.” Watch it HERE

Life of a Henxhman 2 is available at all digital retailers HERE.

Clocking in at 16 songs, Life of a Henxhman 2 is an epic release, full of menacing lyrics and hooks that beg to be repeated. On the Benji Blue Bills-assisted “Let’s Go,” 24Lefteye floats over energetic piano lines as he lets loose quotable wordplay and casual boasts. For “New Opp Pack,” he spits bullet-riddled bars over blown-out bass and frenetic hi-hats. Meanwhile, on “Indict Us” he serves up a half-sung hook that adds kaleidoscopic melody to a project that’s already shown he can do just about everything else.

24Lefteye is also sharing a video for the ghostly anthem “Addict.” It’s a low-key clip that features him and some friends hanging around outside of a tennis court, slowly rapping along to the gloomy beat. It’s another intimate look at his casual charisma.

24Lefteye’s latest project reaffirms his status as one of Atlanta’s brightest young talents. On his February project Money on Head Vol. 1, he chronicled his life in the streets of East Atlanta, demonstrating a knack for careful observation and vivid songwriting. While he’s new to the game, his musical intuition and natural proclivity for dynamic songwriting have helped him develop an expansive group of loyal fans. Already backed by tastemaking websites like Lyrical Lemonade and Dirty Glove Bastard, 24Lefteye is just beginning to actualize his powers as an emerging hitmaker. With Life of a Henxhman 2 and months of momentum at his back, 24Lefteye is poised to continue leveling up throughout the rest of 2021 and beyond.

WIZtheMC – Everything Music Video

South African born, Germany raised, and Toronto based pop/rap artist WizTheMc releases a music video for his latest single “Everything.” Directed and edited by Clyde Monroe, and starring Noa Fisher (Uncut Gems, Betty), the video showcases the highs and lows of a whirlwind love affair. “The “Everything” video is a visual representation of Infatuation, the first of many stages of love that I will be exploring in my upcoming releases,” says WizTheMc.

The video for “Everything” serves as the first in a series of three visual chapters due from Wiz this year. Along with “Break” and “Do It Over”, the three visuals unite to tell a linear cinematic story about Wiz’s experience with love and relationships. The video for “Everything” debuted on Diffus Magazine earlier this morning.

The acoustic guitar driven single follows up the success of Wiz’s What About Now? EP, released at the end of last year on 10K Projects/ Homemade Projects. The EP includes Wiz’s breakout single “For A Minute,” which has surpassed 30M streams on Spotify to date.

Fitting for an artist who spent formative years on three different continents, WizTheMc describes his sound as “borderless music.” It’s an apt description for the 22-year-old singer, rapper, and producer, who combines an ear for sticky pop hooks with nimble rapping abilities, all bolstered by high-octane production and summery guitar loops.

Currently based in Toronto, the Cape Town-born artist is bringing his magnetic records to the masses. As a teenager, he began rapping with friends in the town of Lüneberg, Germany, and like many Gen Z creatives, applied a DIY ethos to music-making.

“For me, it was always the internet. I learned how to freestyle off the internet, how to write songs, how to make beats,” he says. “That’s so beautiful, because no matter where I was, if I had my laptop, my interface, and my mic, I could make music.”

Wiz’s career hit warp speed in the summer of 2020, when his peppy love song “For a Minute” became a major online hit, following his signing with Elliot Grainge’s 10K Projects.  It’s since accrued over 27 million streams on Spotify alone. A charming music video shot in the midst of quarantine highlights Wiz’s natural charisma, easy screen presence, and goofy sense of humor. But now that he’s got more resources behind him, he’s committed to making a world that expands on his music.

Recent videos for “All My Friends Are Stoned” and “World is Fucked” showcase Wiz’s playful and visually creative side, with rich color palettes and surreal humor. “Sometimes, I would just write the chorus and then write the music video concept just off the chorus,” he says. “With everything I’m making, there is just a visual element that’s working in the background.”

In addition to gearing up for live shows including major festival dates like Austin City Limits, Wiz is currently putting the finishing touches on a new batch of songs. He says introspective rappers like Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole have inspired him to pour more of himself than ever before into the music he’s writing; “it’s been my goal to be able to put down my emotions as accurately as possible onto paper. To the point that I feel moved by my own words because they feel so true to me,” Wiz says. “I feel like these songs are the closest to my real experience. These are the most vulnerable songs I’ve written to date.”

Forthcoming singles “Everything” and “Break” have a darker sensibility and an urgency to them, drawing attention to Wiz’s emotive rasp. He uses songwriting for emotional excavation, but maintains that what matters more to him is not what he gets out of a song, but what you do.

“My favorite thing is when I make something I don’t understand or love immediately and then it grows on me,” he explains. “I feel like it’s an empowering idea for artists that we are not really the ones in control to make something meaningful. We don’t have to understand anything to make anything great, we just have to be there and show up and let the music come through us.”

Darren Criss – Masquerade

Singer and songwriter Darren Criss released his brand-new EP Masquerade via BMG available HERE. Listen to his newest single “let’s” HERE.

The five-track EP is a diverse collection of music which showcases Darren’s versatility as an artist. From the rock n’ roll anthem “f*kn around” to the glam “i can’t dance” to the most recently released “for a night like this,” each track allows Darren to explore different personas. Darren will perform songs from the EP live for the first time at Elsie Fest on August 29 in NYC as part of the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Festival at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Full track listing of Masquerade can be found below.

About the EP, Darren shared on Instagram, “Acting and music are, at their core, the same to me. It’s all about identifying an idea and somehow transforming it into an experience, by way of breathing life into a specific masque. As an actor, I’ve always sought to be consistently inconsistent with the masques I put on, and so I seek to follow suit with the music I make. In the same way a ‘role’ can be different from story to story, each piece of music should be treated like a different ‘part’ in a different play. Masquerade is a small collection of the variety of musical masques that have always inspired me. They might not always sound or feel the same, but they are inevitably and undeniably me behind each masque. And that’s the kind of eclecticism that not only makes for a successful masquerade ball- but what makes me, me.”

Billboard described “f*kn around” as “a slick alt-pop single built around a wiggly bass line.” MTV News praised, “With synthy distortions and a banging guitar loop, the song echoes the sharper edges of contemporaries like Shawn Mendes and Justin Timberlake’s with a theatrical flair fans have come to expect from Criss.” Darren made his late-night television performance debut with the single on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Este Haim of HAIM on bass, The Pocket Queen on drums, frequent collaborator and San Fermin frontwoman Charlene Kaye on guitar, and the track’s co-writer CJ Baran on keys.

Music has always played an integral role in Darren’s artistry. As a solo artist, his 2017 EP Homework debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart. Criss has toured to sold-out audiences around the world including headlining the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival with multi-GRAMMY Award nominee and renowned DJ Steve Aoki. In 2019, he also headlined the Balmain Music Festival for the Balmain men’s spring 2020 show. He has been featured on the cover of numerous magazines including such music publications as Billboard and American Songwriter.

As a songwriter, Darren has penned songs for the comedy musical Royalties, for which he was also the creator and executive producer. He received his first Emmy nomination for songwriting in 2015 for Best Original Music and Lyrics for the song “This Time,” which appeared on Glee’s series finale. In addition to collaborations with fellow artists including Rufus Wainwright, Sabrina Carpenter, Bonnie McKee, Jordan Fisher, and many others, he has also written for Apple’s animated series Central Park.

About Darren Criss

Darren Criss is a multi-faceted artist with an illustrious career spanning television, film, music and stage. As an actor, his portrayal of Andrew Cunanan in Ryan Murphy’s award-winning series American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace was met with widespread critical acclaim, earning him a Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors’ Guild Award and Critics’ Choice Award. Having previously portrayed Blaine Anderson on FOX’s global phenomenon Glee for five seasons, he received an Emmy Award nomination for songwriting in 2015 for best original music and lyrics for the song “This Time.” Criss’ songwriting has also seen #1 spots on the cast album charts for music he wrote for YouTube sensation Team Starkid (A Very Starkid Album, Me and My Dick and Starship) which he co-founded in 2009. His 2017 EP entitled “Homework” debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart. In the same year, he introduced his indie-pop band Computer Games with his brother Chuck and released their first album Lost Boys Life EP. About 51 for 51

51 for 51 is a coalition of D.C.-based and national groups committed to equal representation for the over 700,000 D.C. residents who remain locked out of our democracy. The coalition of 20 progressive groups believe American citizens living in the District deserve a voice in Congress and control over their own local laws. Already, President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Senators Warren, Markey, Gillibrand and Hickenlooper have endorsed 51 for 51’s proposed path to statehood.
