BBY KODIE – STARTED THIS

BBY KODIE SHARES HIS NEW SINGLE, “STARTED THIS”

Track Is From His Forthcoming Mixtape

“undeniably great music that is impossible to compare.” – Feff & Earmilk

Today, Houston-based rapper-producer BBY Kodie unveiled his new single, Started This.” The track, which was released via True Panther/ EQT Recordings/Motown Records, finds Kodie at his cockiest, addressing haters and letting off bold lifestyle raps as his beats rubberband between horns riffs, pounding bass, and strings. Kodie recorded the song, which is from his forthcoming mixtape, with Yves Godschild, who also produced his recent single “Children.” Download/stream “Started This” HERE.

The FADER placed “Children” on its “Best New Songs” playlist, noting, “His cool demeanor is even more vicious over the song’s beat, which at times resembles a panicked alarm in an underground bunker. Still, there’s no escape from Kodie’s onslaught.” – Earmilk observed, “Children’ is BBY KODIE playing to his strengths: it’s an unquestionably hard, Southern rap song in which he oozes confidence and makes every bar more impactful than the last, he puts together undeniably great music that is impossible to compare.” View the official video for “Children,” which immerses Kodie in a vibrant, visceral tableau that references the Baroque historical paintings of CaravaggioHERE.

Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana in 2000, Kodie was raised by his biological mother’s adopted sister and her husband, who moved to Houston when he was two. There, Kodie grew up with jazz and soul blaring through the house. As a teenager, he discovered rappers Future, Young Thug and Lil Yachty alongside Houston legends like Lil Flip & and channeled his influences into his first beats on Fruity Loops. By high school, he was dropping a song a day on SoundCloud.

Albums like 2018’s Kodie Kardashian and 2019’s Vogue marked gradual steps away from the innocent charm of his earlier songs towards a more polished artistic vision that coalesces on his upcoming mixtape. From the start, Kodie has established himself as a rare, self-contained entity in the music world, an auteur who takes the reins across every element & from music to visuals to merchandise & to further his unique artistic vision.

Rolling Stone said, “BBY Kodie has described himself as Houston’s answer to Drake and it’s increasingly clear how serious he is.” The city has been central to his development as an artist & he played his first-ever show in Houston and began his now-infamous Halloween shows there as well. With his Raven House collective, Kodie is working to usher in a new Houston sound that simultaneously pays homage to the city’s pioneers and fosters innovation.

Big Sean – What A Life

BIG SEAN AND HIT-BOY TEAM UP FOR NEW EP WHAT YOU EXPECT, AVAILABLE THIS FRIDAY 10/29 VIA DEF JAM RECORDINGS

WHAT YOU EXPECT INCLUDES A NEW SINGLE & VIDEO “WHAT A LIFE”

Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated artist Big Sean and longtime collaborator, Grammy®-winning super-producer Hit-Boy have announced their new EP collaboration WHAT YOU EXPECT, arriving this Friday, October 29 via Def Jam Recordings.  Included on the project is “What A Life,” the scorching new single and video unleashed by the duo last week.

Sean and Hit’s long list of collaborative efforts go back to the 2012 G.O.O.D. Music banger “Clique,” and beyond. Last year, the two joined forces for three songs on Detroit 2, Sean’s third consecutive #1 debut on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Detroit 2 is eligible for Best Rap Album at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. “Deep Reverence” featuring Nipsey Hussle, garnered a Grammy® nomination for Best Rap Performance in 2020.

Hit-Boy has emerged as one of the music industry’s most successful and sought-after producers over the past decade, with a discography reading like who’s who in popular music and four Grammys® under his belt for Best Rap Song in 2011 (Jay-Z and Kanye West’s 4x-platinum “N*ggas In Paris”); Best Pop Vocal Album in 2018 (Ariana Grande’s global #1 Sweetener); Best Rap Performance in 2019 (“Racks In the Middle” collabo with Nipsey Hussle and Roddy Ricch); and Best Rap Album in 2021 (King’s Disease by Nas, released in 2020).
Hit-Boy won new acclaim this year for his work as executive producer on the Nas sequel, King’s Disease II (August 2021), which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and #3 on the 200 Albums chart. Hit-Boy was also the executive producer of Judas and the Black Messiah: The Inspired Album.  Its buzz and success was unprecedented, debuting at #1 on the Billboard Soundtrack Albums chart, and rising to #12 on the 200 Albums chart.

Big Boss Vette – Eater

BIG BOSS VETTE TURNS EVERYONE INTO AN “EATER” IN NEW MUSIC VIDEO

Today, St. Louis rapper and singer Big Boss Vette drops the music video for her vivacious rising single “Eater” via Republic Records.
Watch “Eater” HERE.
Listen to “Eater”—HERE.
Directed by Fonzy, the clip opens on a truly high-stakes situation. Newscasters swarm a university, and a S.W.A.T. team readies to enter because Big Boss Vette has taken over! Inside, she manages to turn everyone into an “Eater” with her bewitching bars, unapologetic lyrics, and over-the-top charisma. It’s furiously paced, hilarious, and completely befitting of this blunt banger. You need to see it to believe it.
She unleashed “Eater” a few weeks back, and it garnered looks from Consequence of Sound4 Sho Magazine, and more.
On the track, a hyped-up New Orleans bounce-inspired beat rages underneath her confident and charismatic delivery. She rips through one raunchy, raw, and raucous NSFW bar after another without apology. She previewed the track with snippets on social media, generating tens of thousands of listens and inciting anticipation for its arrival.
No stranger to making bangers, Vette put numbers on the boards with independent tracks such as “Bad Bitch,” “Outside,” “No Fakin,” “Make Em Mad,” and more. This year, she caught the attention of Republic Records and signed to the label.
Now, she’s got even more heat on deck. You’ve been warned. There’s a new boss in town.

WatchTime Introduces New Watches in NY

WatchTime New York wraps sixth event following three days of new watch reveals, expert panels, celeb sightings, and a joyful return to live, in-person events after a year’s hiatus

New watches launched live this year from WatchTime New York included the new Swizz Beatz x De Bethune Dream Watch 5 Tourbillon “Season 1,” the new A. Lange & Söhne anniversary model, and more

WatchTime New York wrapped this Sunday following three days of new wristwatch presentations, talks, and warm reunions as the global watch community gathered for the first live, in-person WatchTime New York event since 2019. The triumphant comeback also marked a notable expansion for the major event, widely regarded as America’s most important public watch event dedicated to collectors, this year offering a packed three-day lineup, held at Gotham Hall from Friday, October 22 to Sunday, October 24, 2021. The event, produced by WatchTime and presented in partnership with sponsors Tourneau | Bucherer and BMW, also marked one of the first large-scale luxury events in New York City to successfully reconvene post-quarantine.

WatchTime New York kicked off Friday, October 22 with a high-energy VIP cocktail event. Eager guests gathered in the Seiko lounge before surging into the show floor under Gotham Hall’s famed rotunda. Well-heeled private collectors and watch enthusiasts got the first chance to mingle with brand executives and influencers in attendance while marveling at the latest offerings from the 28 registered brand exhibitors, including Chopar, Breguet, Blancpain, Seiko, Norqain, Grand Seiko, MB&F, and more.

This year’s longer three-day event format doubled the popular slate of WatchTime New York panels on Saturday and Sunday, October 23 and 24, featuring leading experts and figures from the watch world. This year’s panels, moderated by Sara Orlando, WatchTime Publisher, WatchTime Editor-in-Chief Roger Ruegger, and renowned collector and consultant Jeff Kingston, explored hot topics in the watch world today, from how the watch landscape has changed since 2019 in the wake of global disruption to the state of women’s watch offerings in today’s marketplace and engaging new brand collaborations. The final panel of the weekend covered the ongoing surge in demand and shortage of stainless-steel sport-luxury watches, with featured celebrity panelist and watch lover Aldis Hodge of “One Night in Miami” and “City on a Hill.”

WatchTime New York once again served as a major stage for new product launches. On Saturday, October. 23, recording artist and producer Swizz Beatz arrived to personally launch his new collaboration with De Bethune: the new Dream Watch 5. The new A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Honeygold “Lumen” was announced live from the show floor on Sunday, October 24, coinciding with the brand’s anniversary.

Actor and watch enthusiast Aldis Hodge and recording artist and producer Swizz Beatz at WatchTime New York 2021

Watch lovers who could not attend the show this year had the opportunity to tune in to a digital TimeOut session with WatchTime Editor-in-Chief Roger Ruegger and Senior Editor Mark Bernardo, who recapped some of the event highlights and notable new timepieces exhibited on-site, which included but were not limited to the latest Air Command chronograph from Blancpain and new pieces that included the Bremont Longitude, MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual EVO titanium, Arnold & Son Luna Magna Platinum, MeisterSinger Unomat, the U.S.-Exclusive Seiko Prospex SLA053 and SLA059 “Seigaiha” Editions, and the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar Red Gold Green Dial. First-time exhibitors this year included Chopard, Massena LAB, Norqain, and others.

Sara Orlando, WatchTime Magazine Publisher: “The success of our show this year underlines the fact that the luxury and watch industries are booming right now, and collectors are eager for the kind of face-to-face, hands-on interactions that we have always facilitated at WatchTime New York.” Orlando moderated a thought-provoking all-female panel dedicated to women and watches on Saturday, October 23.

WatchTime Editor-in-Chief Roger Ruegger: “We are proud to have brought back WatchTime New York live and in-person, not just safely, but on a bigger scale than ever before: with an extended schedule, more engaging panels, and welcoming even more exciting new brands this year. Seeing so many important pieces and new introductions, we are thrilled that both the industry and visitors support the event format.”

Reflecting on the project, Oladokun shares, “I’ve been a rabid consumer of Spotify Singles since their inception. Being asked to do one was a dream come true and I wanted to bring in the best crew. I asked Jason Isbell to play guitar on the Bonnie Raitt cover and he absolutely smashed the energy and emotion of what I was trying to do. So excited to have these out in the world.”

The release adds to a landmark year for Oladokun, whose major label debut album, in defense of my own happiness, is out now via Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records. Moreover, Oladokun released a special deluxe edition, in defense of my own happiness (complete), this past July which includes all 14 tracks from her major-label debut, ten additional songs from her self-released 2020 record, in defense of my own happiness (the beginnings), and one new track, “judas.”

In celebration of the new music, Oladokun will embark on her first ever headline tour next spring with newly confirmed shows at Austin’s Antone’s, Dallas’ Club Dada, Los Angeles’ Troubadour, San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall, Seattle’s Neumos, Denver’s Marquis Theater, Minneapolis’ Fine Line, Chicago’s Lincoln Hall, New York’s Bowery Ballroom, Washington, DC’s Union Stage, Atlanta’s Terminal West and Nashville’s The Basement East among several others. KIANA LEDÉ – THIS CHRISTMAS

KIANA LEDÉ OFFICIALLY RELEASES “THIS CHRISTMAS” ON ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS

LISTEN HERE

Ready to heat up the holidays, platinum-selling Phoenix-born and Los Angeles-based artist Kiana Ledé officially releases her cover of the classic “This Christmas” at all streaming platforms via The Heavy Group/Republic Records today.
Listen to “This Christmas”: HERE

Originally unveiled as an Amazon Originals Exclusive in 2020, she has unwrapped it on every streaming platform now. Kiana brings her own sense of sultry soul and simmering spirit to the holiday classic, adding another dimension to the standard and giving it new life.

Kiana’s voice continues to resound throughout the culture. She teamed up with multiplatinum R&B phenomenon Queen Naija for “I’m Her,” clocking millions of streams. Additionally, she lent her smooth vocals to Kitty Ca$h’s latest banger “Just Fine.”

Not to mention, her most recent single “Ur Best Friend” [feat. Kehlani] has amassed over 26 million streams. HYPEBAE described it as “steamy, and UPROXX observed, “Plenty of R&B acts came out to impress last year with their respective projects despite the pandemic making it anything but a normal year. Two artists who did this are Kiana Ledé and Kehlani.” Meanwhile, Revolt raved, “the two fused their R&B talents together effortlessly in the new track about giving into temptation.”

It all paves the way for new music coming soon. She’s kept busy this year with collaborations with G-EAZY, THEY., Niko WaltersD-Nice, and Femme It Forward, flexing her dynamic diversity.

Kiana Ledé is way more than an R&B singer. Her poetic lyrics (set to an alluring blend of early classic R&B, soul, pop, hip-hop, and singer/songwriter genre) and relatability have led to notable success, including the platinum-certified “EX” from 2018’s breakout Selfless EP, and hits like “Mad At Me” and “Chocolate” feat. Ari Lennox and achieved over 1 billion streams globally.

KIKI, her self-described “coming of age” debut album, bowed in the Top 5 of various charts — the Billboard Top R&B Albums Chart, Apple Music R&B/Soul Albums Chart and iTunes R&B/Soul Albums Chart — as well as the Top 10 of the Apple Music Overall Albums Chart. The album has impressively gained over 50 million streams in addition to industry praise from ELLEBillboardHighsnobietyVIBE and many more.

Ledé grew up in South Phoenix, Arizona as a self-described “Black, Mexican, and Native American girl who participated in pageants.” At the core of her music is honesty, which will continue to make her a standout artist.

SPOTEMGOTTEM – KILLERS ON THEY SHIT

SPOTEMGOTTEM RELEASES BRAND NEW RECORD “KILLERS ON THEY SHIT

WATCH THE OFFICIAL VIDEO HERE

Rising Florida star SpotemGottem is back today with thrilling new single “Killers On They Shit”. On the track, Spotem lays out the ruthless logistics of a hit, rapping menacingly while the record pulsates around him with authentic street energy. “Killers On They Shit” has all the aggression and on-the-ground detail that fans have come to expect from the Jacksonville native. Watch the ShotbyGG-directed video for the track HERE, or listen to all digital retailers HERE.

“Killers On They Shit” marks the beginning of a new era of music for SpotemGottem, as he prepares to follow up his critical and commercially acclaimed project ‘Most Wanted’ which was released earlier this year. Most Wanted was the culmination of a rise that began when SpotemGottem released “Beat Box” last year. With a mellow, but ominous trap beat, ferocious bars, and delivery filled with sporadic shouts, the song picked up serious momentum since its release with established artists like DaBaby, Pooh Sheisty, Polo G, NLE Choppa, and more tapping in for remixes. With the momentum of “Beat Box” still at his back, nearly 6 million monthly Spotify listeners, and Most Wanted hitting streaming platforms everywhere, SpotemGottem remains poised to fully take over. Recently, the young talent also made his television debut during the 2021 BET Awards pre-show where he performed a high-energy minute-long performance of his viral hit “Beat Box” alongside JuneBug. Revisit the performance HERE.
