As the season begins to draw towards a close, the brand new jewel in Ibiza’s crown, Hï Ibiza announces the first official closing party. Taking place on Sunday 8th October, the closing party features an all-star line-up of Ibiza favourites, including Jamie Jones, Loco Dice and Guy Gerber, residents Steve Lawler, Andrea Oliva, Nic Fanciulli and Kölsch, plus many more! 

The club has had a phenomenal summer since opening the doors to its debut season in May 2017, fast becoming one of the island’s hottest tickets and drawing in packed out crowds night after night. When it comes to Ibiza, Guy Gerber needs little introduction. The Israeli house king will make a welcome return to the Theatre (Room 1) joined by In The Dark DJs Kölsch and Nic Fanciulli, fellow resident Andrea Oliva, local favourites Housekeeping and Mr Doris.

Over in the Club (Room 2), In The Dark resident and all-round Ibiza prodigy Steve Lawler will be taking control of proceedings, joined by French producer Agoria, and Hï Ibiza regulars Bas Ibellini, Dublin, Solardo and wAFF. 

Presented by Ushuaïa Entertainment Hï Ibiza is decked out with one of the most advanced sound and technologies on the island. Hundreds to Gather at National AIDS Memorial to Dedicate Newly Built Hemophilia Memorial Circle to Honor Lives Lost in Early Days of AIDS Epidemic

Hundreds of hemophilia advocates and survivors will come together at the National AIDS Memorial to dedicate the Hemophilia Memorial Circle, a beautifully designed permanent feature built to forever honor all the lives lost in the hemophilia community to AIDS.
 
During a dedication ceremony, the names of the first loved ones whose names will appear in the Hemophilia Memorial Circle will be read aloud and red roses placed in the memorial in their honor. The names include family members, friends, supporters and loved ones in the Hemophilia community who lost their lives to AIDS. Each name will be inscribed in the memorial over the next month and included as part of World AIDS Day ceremonies on December 1st.

 
The Hemophilia Memorial Circle consists of a new stone circle and surrounding landscape with benches inscribed with the names of those in the hemophilia community who have died from AIDS. It also pays tribute to the courage and activism of those who worked tirelessly on behalf of the hemophilia community to ensure America’s blood supply is safe and that the tragedy they lived through never happens again.

 
The completion of the Hemophilia Memorial Circle at the National AIDS Memorial forever brings the hemophilia and gay communities together, bound by their common stories of fear, prejudice, loss and hope.

 
The National AIDS Memorial partnered with the Hemophilia Federation of America and the National Hemophilia Foundation to build the Hemophilia Memorial Circle, which serves as a place where the community can grieve and remember those lost during the early days of the AIDS epidemic. Hemophilia is a genetic condition that prevents a person’s blood from clotting. Common sites of bleeding are muscles and internal joints and organs, including the brain, which can cause injury and death.

In the 1980s, the hemophilia community’s lifeline was a medicine – clotting factor – derived from a large and diverse blood supply. It was only after people with hemophilia began to be diagnosed with HIV that they realized the blood supply was tainted. Eventually, 90% of people with severe hemophilia were infected with HIV from contaminated factor.

 Cries for help were met with silence from drug corporations and the federal government. People with the disease were left to fight this fight on their own, and they have served as the guardians of the nation’s blood supply ever since.

 This year marks nearly thirty years since the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act was signed into law, creating the most extensive federal program that provides services exclusively to people living with HIV. Ryan White, a person with hemophilia whose story captivated our nation and the world, never lived to see passage of the new law, but his bravery, courage and heart will never be forgotten. His mother, Jeanne White-Ginder, a prominent activist and supporter of both the hemophilia and HIV/AIDS communities, was a strong advocate for the new memorial.

Produced by Naughty Boy, Naughty Town is a one-of-a-kind project celebrating the music of Motown, featuring a host of star-studded vocalists that will bring the genre to a new generation of music fans. The first track to be released will be ‘Dancing Machine,’ featuring BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominated artist Laura Mvula, on the 14th September.

 

‘Dancing Machine’ is an amazing re-arrangement of a Motown classic. Starting mellow with a simple synth line, the track gives space for an introduction to a captivating vocal performance by Laura Mvula. Naughty Boy’s production provides a slightly melancholic edge while maintaining the energy level of the original track, instantly giving this 70s classic a catchy modern feel.

 

Of the project, Naughty Boy said: “Motown is so iconic, at first I didn’t want to interfere in case I upset the millions of Motown fans. It took me a while to think I can do this, I can deliver. I realised it’s the coming together of music lovers and great songs.”

 

Speaking of the track, Laura Mvula said: “ ‘Dancing Machine’ has always been one of my favourite Jackson 5 tracks so when Shah said he was doing an album of reworked Motown classics it was my first thought. I grew up listening to and emulating the Jackson 5 so to get a chance to re-interpret and pay respect to some of that genius was really special. Motown deserves endless credit so hopefully this will highlight the incredible catalogue.

“Good Afternoon.  

4 years ago, I started an investigation.  I wanted to find out why every year at renewal time, my company faces double digit increases in health insurance premiums.

We spend $10 per hour to insure an employee with a family, and we spend $2 million a year to provide insurance to all our employees.

 So I took a deep dive into the health care insurance industry in the United States, and I didn’t like what I found.  Every citizen in this country, regardless of their political leanings, must know the truth about this industry.  It is a totally unnecessary middle-man whose very existence costs business a fortune and adds no value.

As a CEO, my job is to find best practices that maximize efficiency.  Over the last four years, I have joined groups of equally concerned business people, like the Business Leaders Transforming Health Care group. And I have studied in depth the health care systems of other industrialized nations. 

There is not a doubt in my mind that the best way to ensure the competitiveness of American business is a single-payer health care system.

Medicare provides better results at lower prices with more satisfied customers than any other health insurance provider in the country.

Expanding that coverage to every citizen will improve both the health of our citizens and the health of our businesses.  

I applaud Senator Sanders and the co-sponsors for introducing this legislation and for embracing this central idea.  

Let me be clear.  The so-called free-market will never deliver the health care system we need if we are to remain an economic super power.

Our new campaign – the Business Initiative for Health Policy – will educate the public and lawmakers about the economic benefits of a single-payer system.

I encourage every member of Congress to leave their ideology at the door and to work with us to build a Medicare for All system to finance healthcare.”
