SUSAN E. FOSTER × CHARMING IMPOSSIBLES

For the many women (and men) stuck at home with abusers, children to care for, and the current stress of survival overall, domestic violence survivor, Susan E Foster, author of the new book Charming Impossibles: How Ordinary Angels Help Free the Hopelessly Stuck (Clovercroft Publishing) provides tips, advice, strategies, and resources to help them escape the invisible strings of abusers.

Foster calls them “‘Charming Impossibles’ – ‘charm’ is their deceptive invisible mask and convincing lure. ‘Impossible to satisfy’ is their secret weapon.”

But, how do you escape the abusers in your life? Why is leaving them behind while moving forward so difficult?

In this very revealing book, Foster shares her personal journey of surviving years of emotional abuse and isolation in plain sight…and the lessons learned. She also shares powerful and moving stories of others, unraveling the mysterious web of confusion surrounding abuse and overcoming difficult relationships.

In her article “Why Do We Self-Sabotage? You may be self-sabotaging without even realizing it,,” Dr. Ellen Hendriksen, a psychologist, states: “Self-sabotage can interfere with the best-laid plans and goals. Why do we do it? Turns out, there are many reasons why instead of shooting for the moon, we end up aiming right for our foot. Self-sabotage is any action that gets in the way of your intent…'”

She further adds, “There are countless ways we sabotage ourselves. So why do we do it? It comes down to four big reasons: Self-Worth, Control, Perceived Fraudulence, and Familiarity of that which we know is preferable to the unknown. To summarize: it all comes down to three words: fear of failure.”

Charming Impossibles is a story that describes a path to freedom for the apparently “hopelessly stuck.” The result is a credible, engaging, informative, supportive, and hopeful story.

Regaining Control in Uncertain Times: Advice from a Doctor/Cancer Survivor

As a doctor and entrepreneur, I spent most of my life seeking control – obsessively studying, planning, and working to guarantee my success. That’s why I wanted to be an entrepreneur in the first place – I wanted to be my own boss, in charge of my own fate. Despite my success, in 2013, I would lose every semblance of control in my life. In 2013, I was diagnosed with cancer.

My cancer diagnosis came with many emotions: anger, anxiety, uncertainty, depression. I felt alone and hopeless, like everything I had worked so hard for suddenly didn’t matter. I just had to “wait and see” if the chemotherapy worked; how sick I would be; if I could have a family one day; if I would ever have my regular life back.

In many ways, I see similarities between the way my cancer diagnosis impacted my life and how the current Coronavirus pandemic is affecting us all. Life as you know it has suddenly stopped. You don’t know when it will return to normal, and you may feel like you have completely lost control of your life.

Even though the unknowns of cancer treatment terrified me, certain strategies gave me a “sense” of control – and often times, that was enough. I hope that you can employ these strategies in the coming days and weeks to regain control in these uncertain times.

Exercise

Although chemotherapy prevented intense workouts, simply walking regularly released feel-good endorphins in my brain, and it’s something I had control over. Similarly, a self-imposed routine may help you cope with the uncertainty of the Coronavirus pandemic. Even though gyms are closed, consider doing body-weight workouts at home, YouTube fitness tutorials, or walking/running outside.

Breathe

You can also change your breathing patterns voluntarily, resulting in various powerful effects. For example, if you feel a wave of panic approaching, try taking deeper breaths using your diaphragm, which will cause your heart rate to slow and your body to relax.

Journal

Exercise and focused breathing are two techniques that worked for me, but it’s also important to remember what activities made you feel the best. Try journaling how different activities make you feel – more/less anxious, more/less in control, etc. This way, you can continue doing things that make you feel good, even when the Coronavirus is a distant memory.

Sometimes, challenging times are the kickstart you need to pursue a better life. After my cancer diagnosis, I completely transformed my stress-filled, unhealthy lifestyle. I overcame cancer, and I owe it all to positive lifestyle changes. If you are ready to start your journey to better health, check out my book “From Doctor to Patient.”

Improve Your Golf Skills With These Tips And Tricks From The Pros

Golf is a sport of the mind more than it is a sport of the muscle. In this game that has players of all ages, your performance depends more on technique more so than any other sport. There are so many nuances to golf and understanding that, then you will understand there are many ways to improve your game. Here are some tips and tricks that will help you boost your game, and lower that stroke count.

Try Swinging On A Plane

To help build consistency and fluidity on your golf swing, it is a good tip to consider the plane on which you are swinging the golf club. By trying to swing on a plane, you will find that this can be helpful for those that struggle with control and curves. The basics of the plane on your swing have you, the golfer, create an imaginary plane. This plane can be imagined as going through the golfer. During your swing, your golf club will appear parallel to the plane from the top of your swing, and right through to the point of contact. By keeping a plane on your mind when you are swinging your club, this can create a foundation, especially needed for beginners or those that are having trouble with consistency.

Posture And Positioning

Some golfers, especially beginners tend to focus too much on the swing and not enough on the stance. Like many sports, golf has basics and fundamentals. One of those fundamentals is having the proper stance and posture. Your posture will create the ideal height for your swing to feel more natural and make. This will give you the appropriate balance to create a seamless and smooth swing. To achieve this, make sure to create a good positioning with your feet, knees, and shoulders. Remember to keep your mechanics tight on your swing and continue right to the follow-through. It takes time to get your muscle memory in tune, but consistency is key to your swings.

Slow Down Your Tempo

Golf is a game of finesse, not power. Yes, everyone wants to have the furthest drive off the tee, but you aren’t just playing the game with a driving range. You need to play the game at your pace. This can translate to your golf swing, concentrating not on power but accuracy, swinging your club under control at all times. And it might even force you to sacrifice some yards off that swing, but you’ll make it up with keeping your total strokes low. At the end of a day at the course, you would rather come up a little short but on the green, than have driven that ball far and away from where you ideally want to be.

Relax

Golf swings are motions that require a lot of muscle movement. A lot of players focus too much on the power or technique of their swings that they forget to relax. This will give you the most and best quality of range of motion not only from your arms and upper body but also will translate down to your hips. Relaxing will also help prevent injuries as you are not tensed up and restricting your body and forcing uncomfortable movement.

Manage The Game

Golf is both a mental and physical sport. It is a game where your mind will get as much work if you allow yourself to see and approach the game that way. As mentioned previously, you can’t always rely on the power and shouldn’t be simply swinging wildly on your drives. Instead, take your time before you even get to the tee. Look at the hole at hand, and understand the best approach to it. Managing the game by making smart and calculated decisions will allow you to minimize the times you get yourself into problem situations. Choose to take shots that are low risk when beginning and learning the mechanics, take shots and use the clubs you are comfortable with. Play to your strengths and understand where your game is lacking. These decisions about playing smart will help you keep your scores low while you continue to improve your game.

With so many things that you can work on, golf is more a sport about improving your own game. If you can acknowledge where your limitations are, you can pinpoint those flaws to adjust and correct your game. This will involve changing both your physical motions and your mental approach, and soon you’ll see that improvement in your ability of the sport.

SCLC FIGHTS FOR POOR

With all Americans bearing the brunt of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis, Dr. Charles Steele, Jr., president and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), today called on President Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress to make sure all Americans benefit from the nearly $1 trillion that will be spent to restore the health of citizens and the economy.

“I want to weigh in on behalf of regular people,” said Dr. Steele, who currently heads the civil rights organization co-founded and first led by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “We have seen this socialist bailout of corporate America before. As the Trump Administration and Congress prepare to help some corporations, hand out new contracts and create new jobs to address this pandemic, we must ensure that billions ends up in the hands of the people who have been historically left behind. Poor people, black and brown people, must be recipients of these gifts of generosity that normally go to corporations.”

President Trump has said efforts are underway to financially assist corporations that have been hit hard by Convid-19, including the travel and cargo industries. He has announced plans to assist small businesses, but there are no specifics how those disbursements will be handled, and he has announced plans to give all families at least $2,400 to help them through the crisis.

“When it comes to bearing the weight, it is not fair that the corporations get the support when the rest of us starve,” Dr. Steele said.  “We saw our government bail out the banks during the housing collapse. We also bailed out the auto industry and Wall Street. Those industries recovered, but we didn’t. Most black and brown people lost their homes. We lost our wealth. Nearly 75 percent of poor people are living from check to check. Many of us have no health insurance. We can’t afford to take a day off work.”

Dr. Steele said the SCLC, which has focused on the plight of the poor and the voiceless since the days of Dr. King, has received calls for individuals and groups who are concerned about how individuals with no jobs and insurance will fair during this pandemic and recover after the crisis is over.

“They are asking, ‘Where are our leaders,’” Dr. Steele said. “They are not seeing them standing up to make sure the real money will flow down to the people most impacted. That is why the SCLC is taking a stand. We must fight to make sure our government does not repeat what has happened in the past. We need more than $1,200 to catch up in America. We will not be left behind this time.”

ABOUT THE SCLC:

Established in 1957, the SCLC, whose first president was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is a now an international organization made up of chapters and affiliates with programs that affect the lives of all Americans: north, south, east, and west. Its sphere of influence and interests has become international in scope because the human rights movement transcends national boundaries. What Does Medicare Plan F Exactly Cover?

Medicare parts and plans are almost always mistaken for one another. There are only four main Medicare parts which are Parts A, B, C, and D. These parts offer hospital coverage, outpatient services, and prescription drug coverage. Part C, on the other hand, is considered to be an alternative solution for the original parts along with other services that aren’t usually covered in Part A and B such as vision and dental care.

Other than the Medicare main parts, there are other available plans to purchase as an added help to your Original Medicare such as Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans. However, they only work alongside your Original Medicare. That’s why enrolling firstly in Original Medicare is one of the most important requirements to be able to qualify for any Medicare plan. Different Medigap policies are sold across all states, including Plan F which is considered to be one of the most extended-coverage plans out there. Read on to discover more information on Plan F so you can determine whether it is a good fit for you.

What Are Medigap Policies?

Medicare Supplement -also known as Medigap- insurance plans are essentially available to help in covering certain out-of-pocket costs that Original Medicare doesn’t cover. If you are thinking about enrolling in Medigap, especially Plan F, then you must read everything you need to know and understand what exactly this plan has to offer. It’s important to educate yourself regarding the plan you are considering to ensure it is suitable for your needs. While Medigap Plan A is mandatory to be offered by insurance companies that sell supplement insurance plans, there are other plans such as C and F that are sold upon the desire of every consumer.

What Is Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan F?

There are ten different Medigap policies that are available. Plan F is considered to be the most comprehensive plan available in most states. People who seek broader assistance with out-of-pocket costs benefit from the extensive coverage that this plan offers. Plan F offers a great advantage for beneficiaries who often use Part A and B which is that it reduces hospital and medical expenses significantly; most of the time, you won’t need to pay for any additional costs. For these reasons, it’s only logical that premiums might be more expensive. Since this plan, and other Medigap policies, is offered by private insurance companies, it might not be available. Plan availability varies from one state to another, so it’s always a good idea to research the availability of the plan in your region. However, Plan F is highly desirable due to its extensive coverage which pushes most insurance companies to offer it.

What Are Plan F’s Presented Benefits?

Most Medigap plans are standardized across all states. This means that regardless of your location or the insurance company you choose to purchase the plan from, you will be able to get the same benefits that are offered by Plan F in any state. However, Plan F premiums may vary from one insurance company to the other. There is also another high deductible version of Plan F that is different from the original plan.

Here are some of the benefits that you get when you purchase Medigap Plan F:

•Plan F offers additional benefits that reach up to 365 days after the exhaustion of Medicare Part A benefits.

•Plan F offers Medicare Part A deductibles, copayment, and coinsurance. The difference between copay and coinsurance is that the first is a set rate you pay for hospital services you have benefited from. The latter is a percentage of the costs you pay after you have already met your deductibles. Deductibles, on the other hand, are the set amount of charges you pay for medical services before coinsurance is activated.

•It covers the excess charges that come with Part B that specializes in outpatient services and deductibles.

•It covers the cost of the first three pints of blood needed. Yet, the medical procedure must be approved and it only covers three pints of blood annually.

•Trained nursing facility coinsurance.

•It covers 80% and up to the Plan limit of emergency foreign travels.

While a Medicare advantage plan offers different Medicare benefits that aren’t usually covered such as dental and vision care, Medigap policies are considered to be an Original Medicare’s sidekick. Plan F offers coverage for most deductibles, coinsurance, and copayment for Part A; it also covers excess charges for Part B. Investing some time and effort into educating yourself on the differences between Medicare parts, plans, and policies will help in cutting costs and saving money while you are taking care of your health in the long run.

Understanding the Influence of Product Reviews on Retailers

When you think about the power and influence of product reviews, you will notice that it can be both good or bad for your business depending on the review and the situation. Ideally, your business would flourish if you get positive reviews, but it won’t fare so well if there was negative feedback. This is just how impactful any product review can be to retailers.

So, let’s dive in and understand a little more about the effects of customer reviews on any business.

Customer’s Trust

Authenticity and customer trust are difficult to come by in the business world, which is why a product review can show customers just how trustworthy a retailer is. Positive feedback and good experiences can prove to people that they should invest in your goods or services, but it would be the complete opposite if the review wasn’t favorable towards you. With enough bad reviews, it could be extremely difficult to try and fix the situation and change people’s perception of your brand. This is why product reviews are so important, especially if they are positive. It would make people rest easy and assured that they are purchasing a product from the right brand. They would definitely come back for more once they’ve established your authenticity and integrity, making their trust in you stronger than ever.

Your Sales

Product reviews can significantly influence your sales and your exposure might end up being positive or negative depending on the number of favorable reviews available to the public. Your goal is to bring in more leads and boost your sales; product reviews can achieve this for you. The researchers and reviewers at http://radarlogic.com/ state that reliable reviews can evaluate any retailer’s product based on the features, quality, and performance. This gives any customer searching for a product an estimated value for the price of the item they’re after. With enough unbiased reviews that help people get value for money, you can see a significant rise to your sales thanks to positive reviews. However, your hopes and dreams of gaining profits won’t be easily achievable if the feedback was negative, and people won’t see real value in your products in that case.

Chances To Be Better

You are guaranteed many chances of improving your business and this works no matter how good or bad the review is. If customers deem your offerings attractive, they will still give you feedback on some of the stuff they wish could be there. This will make you adapt and change to their likings promptly. This is the same if the reviews aren’t so favorable. People will give you the insight you need to consider to make the necessary changes to your product and keep the customers happy. Either way, the knowledge, feedback, and insightful comments will help you build a better and stronger brand that can compete with other rivals in the market. You’d be surprised at just how a retailer can turn in a new leaf thanks to people’s reviews.

The Information Given

People will always want more information through reviews, even if they were good ones with positive experiences. They would want to know why the product was good or bad; lack of details would mean less attention and lower conversion rates. Also, you can’t hope for a product to improve with minimal details. Saying that the product “X” is “good” or “bad” isn’t enough to convince anyone. So, a product review needs to have adequate information to have any sort of influence on your business.

Your Online Presence

Any retailer or company needs a strong online presence because the digital world is how you’d make most of your sales and attract your possible leads. This makes any retailer implement specific SEO strategies that can increase traffic to build their rank on the search lists. If the reviews were nice and people believed that your content and products are credible, then Google will see that and would elevate your rank higher. But if the reviews were constantly negative and people didn’t see any changes, then fewer people will visit your platform. This will create a downward spiral of low sales, traffic, and profits because your rank would be so low on the search engine lists.

Product reviews can be a double-edged weapon that could make or break your brand. The customer base has the power to lift your business to the sky or drag it down to the ground depending on how good their experience was. Word travels extremely fast online and you should never underestimate the digital world with its different platforms that review products. The effect of any review is stronger than you could possibly imagine.
