Five Ways Ice Baths Help Post Workout

If the idea of taking an ice bath sounds terrifying, don’t freak out just yet. Ice baths are incredibly beneficial for a number of reasons, and are especially great for athletes and people who maintain a regular workout routine. An ice bath is a practice that involves submerging a substantial part of your body in a tub of ice or ice water for a certain amount of time to achieve a number of benefits. If this doesn’t already make you want to look for an ice bath for sale, here are five ways ice baths can help you post-workout.

It Aids in Muscle Recovery

One of the reasons ice baths are so popular with athletes and people who exercise regularly is because they can help the muscles recover after an intense workout. This is due to the fact that when you are exposed to cold water, the blood vessels in your body constrict and become smaller. When you get out of the water, the sudden change in temperature causes your blood vessels to quickly re-open, which helps to release the metabolic waste products from your body.

It Can Improve Your Mental Health

Regular exercise has been proven to have a positive effect on mental health, which is why taking an ice bath after a workout can be all the more beneficial. Taking ice baths has been proven to increase relaxation and focus, even if the ice cold temperatures can be a bit shocking at first. After your first ice bath, you will probably find the experience to be relaxing and refreshing. If that isn’t “cool” enough (get it?), studies have shown that taking two cold showers a day can decrease depressive symptoms.

It Can Help Improve Your Quality of Sleep

Taking ice baths has been shown to improve quality of sleep, which is great news for anyone struggling with insomnia or any other sleep disorders or issues. This is because sleep and mental health often go hand-in-hand, and because ice baths can be great for your mental health, your quality of sleep will likely improve as well. Spending just 15 minutes in an ice bath can have a positive impact on your central nervous system, which not only helps you fall asleep but helps you feel great overall.

It Can Boost Your Immunity

Studies have shown that taking ice baths can help boost your immunity, which many people will find especially helpful during the current times we’re living in. According to research, those who take cold showers as opposed to hot showers are almost 30 percent less likely to take a sick day from work or school. If you’re someone who gets sick often or simply wants to avoid getting sick, try incorporating ice baths into your daily routine. A better immune system means more productive days at the gym and a better post workout feeling.

It Activates the Nervous System

Taking ice baths triggers a nervous system response that activates the immune, cardiovascular, and endocrine systems, which can help improve hormone production, as well as sleep, metabolism, circulation, AND can help keep your stress levels low. Pretty cool, right?

Mökbar – The Junction at Gateway

AWARD-WINNING KOREAN RESTAURANT MÖKBAR TO OPEN FOURTH LOCATION AT ONYX EQUITIES’ THE JUNCTION AT GATEWAY

New Tenants Also include First Daycare Center in Gateway

Project All Stars, and Seton Hall University

Developer Hosting Competition for Newark-Based Restauranteur to Move into Fully Built-Out Restaurant Space

The Junction at Gateway’s culinary revolution continues with James Beard Award-winning Mökbar owner and chef Esther Choi choosing Newark for its fourth location.  It will occupy 950 square feet in the Market Hall area of Gateway One.

One Step Ahead Learning & Performing Arts Center also signed a lease for 5,600 square feet of interior space and approximately 1,000 square feet of exterior space to be used for a private outdoor playground in Gateway One near the Doubletree Hotel.  It will be the first daycare center in the Gateway Center providing a much-needed resource for working parents as companies ease back into in-person work schedules.

Seton Hall University—ranked among the top tier national universities by U.S. News and World Report—will be opening a student center in Gateway for its Law School and undergraduate students matriculating at its Newark campuses.  The university’s decisionmakers sited the amenities package that will be available to its students and faculty as one of the top benefits of the 930 SF Junction-level space in Gateway Two.

The Newark Project All Stars, a charity that connects the city’s youth with members of its business community—including Onyx Equities—to develop business skills and make career-forming connections, will move into 450 SF for its corporate offices and meeting spaces for its members.

“I’m very excited to get back to my New Jersey roots! What better place to open Mökbar, my flagship restaurant than Newark,” said Esther Choi, Chef and Owner of Mökbar. “I’m ready to get to work and share my Korean culture and cuisine with the downtown residence and workers!!”

“Newark’s central downtown area has always had the capability to be a center of commerce.  It has the infrastructure and locational attributes needed to become a world-class destination, and a neighborhood that local residents cherish and identify with. It just needed for us to turn Gateway inside-out,” said Jonathan Schultz, Co-Founder and Managing Principal for Onyx Equities.  “Our plans to turn the concourse level from a convenient commuter pass-through into a world-class destination is coming to fruition.  It’s very exciting to sign tenants in The Junction who share our vision and belief in Newark.”

“Just as we’ve brought diverse food options from the other side of the Hudson River to the Gateway Center, it’s important for us to share Newark’s local flavor and culinary talent with central downtown commuters, residents and visitors,” said Matthew Flath, Vice President of Asset Management for Onyx Equities of its competition for one Newark-based restauranteur to win the right to operate a fully built-out restaurant space at no upfront cost.

Mökbar and the competition winner will add their unique flavor to The Junction along with Serafina, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, Fresh & Co, Greek from Greece Bakery & Café, Farinella, 375˚ Chicken & Fries, Chip City Cookies and The Brookdale.

Interested parties can download the competition guidelines and entry form here.

The 2.3 million SF, four-building Gateway Center complex draws over 75,000 weekly visitors from the New York Metro area through its skybridges to Newark Penn Station, One Riverfront Center, and Panasonic’s Corporate Headquarters. Its second-floor interconnected concourses, now known as The Junction, is near the completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation to attract retail, fitness, entertainment and dining opportunities as well as improve the pedestrian and tenant experience within the complex.  Onyx’s investment in Newark also includes opening the Gateway Center’s ground floor via a new pedestrian grand entrance and street-facing retail for the first time in the building’s 50+-year history.

Taylor Swift – Billboard’s Greatest Pop Star

Taylor Swift continues to honor her legacy in the music industry as album consumption for both Red (Taylor’s Version) and Fearless (Taylor’s Version) surpass 2 Million album equivalents globally. Taylor was named the “No. 1 Greatest Pop Star of 2021” by Billboard. The work that Taylor has been able to put out this year alone is showstopping, and we can only expect even bigger and better things for her to come.

Causing a global media storm with Red (Taylor’s Version), the total consumption of the album has moved over 1 Million album equivalents in the United States alone. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) is set to accomplish the same successes this December, as well. The release of Red (Taylor’s Version) became Taylor’s 10th album to gain over 1 Million album equivalents during the release week. Following these triumphs, Taylor also became the first and only artist to debut atop the Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100 at the same time three times and in less than 16 months.

The album itself continues to keep leading vinyl album sales week since tracking began in 1991 with 114k sold. Taylor broke this record previously set by herself with folklore’s sister album, evermore. Now, more than 200k Red (Taylor’s Version) vinyl albums have been sold only a little over a month since the release.

Dysport Vs Botox: Which Is Better?

Wrinkles are the creases and lines on our skin. They are particularly noticeable around our mouth, eyes, and neck. Wrinkles are caused by various factors such as advancing age. As we age, the skin loses its elasticity because of reduced elastin and collagen. Exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet light and smoking too can cause wrinkles. repeated facial expressions like squinting, smiling, and frowning can make them worse.

Wrinkle formation is usually seen after 40 years of age. But sometimes, they appear earlier than expected. So how can we make these wrinkles go away so that we can keep looking young? This is now possible, thanks to advances made by modern science. Botox and Dysport are two medical interventions that can remove these wrinkles and make your skin look young and pretty again.

They are both popular throughout the world. Naturally, the question arises – Dysport Vs. Botox – which is better?

What Is the Difference Between Dysport and Botox?

Botox and Dysport are both neurotoxins that work by blocking muscle contractions, thereby preventing wrinkle formation and curing the ones that are already there. Both these injectable cures are derived from the botulinum toxin in small quantities. They are both used for treating spasms caused by neurological issues and some other medical disorders, but their most popular use is in the treatment of facial wrinkles.

There are however some differences between them as well. The main difference is the amount you will need for the cure. For example, Botox is less diluted compared to Dysport. This means, Dysport requires more units of treatment.

botox

Dysport will also react differently after the injection is pushed. It will spread to a larger area. Botox, on the other hand, spreads less, which means Botox treatments are usually more precise. Botox is often the better choice for the skin around your eyes as well. You can choose Dysport if you want to cure a larger section of your skin.

Botox

Dysport Vs Botox Comparison

Both Botox and Dysport are considered safe. This is why the US FDA has approved both these drugs for treating facial wrinkles. Botox received the approval in 2002. Dysport got it much later in 2009 but this product was popular in Europe for a long time before that.

What Is Botox?

This is a neurotoxin that is developed from a toxin – the bacterium clostridium botulinum. In controlled amount, this toxin can be very effective for cosmetic treatments. However, the toxin can be dangerous if it is not used correctly, which is why you must always go to an expert therapist who has a lot of experience in offering this cure. With the right plastic surgeon or dermatologist, Botox can be a miracle cure.

This filler blocks the nerve signals from the brain to the targeted muscles. As a result, the muscles won’t be able to move freely, which makes them relaxed and softer. The lack of muscle movement in the targeted area will eventually remove your forehead lines and wrinkles for some time.

Botox

Follow-up treatments will be required. Your plastic surgeon or dermatologist will tell you when you should visit again.

What Is Dysport?

Other businesses have been trying to come out with their injectable cures since the success of Botox. Dysport was already popular in more than 60 countries. It eventually received the FDA approval in 2009. It has since then also proved to be an effective, non-surgical cosmetic cure.

Dysport

Dysport also uses the Botulinum Type A toxin like Botox and works in the same way. However, it reduces the lines, which mostly affects the glabella, or the part of the skin between the eyebrows. Such lines on your face can extend vertically, upwards, and also towards your forehead. These lines are usually noticed when you frown. The naturally occurring glabella lines can get more pronounced also when you are relaxed. This is because, protein fibers of the skin lose its elasticity as we age.

Dysport is best applied for those with severe or moderate facial wrinkles. In other words, it will not be very effective if your glabella lines are mild. It is best to approach a board-certified dermatologist to determine the status of your glabella lines and to find out whether should get Botox or the Dysport facial cure.

What Lasts Longer Dysport or Botox?

They both last for about the same time, which is between 3 and 6 months, usually. After this, you have to visit the therapist again for a follow-up cure because gradually, the muscles that had been paralyzed will come back to life. How long the result will stay for you will depend on several factors, such as the condition of your skin before the session, size of the treatment area, and the dosage administered. The total dosage you will require is also likely to come down with each session.

Price

Both these neurotoxin injections also have around the same cost, which is usually $400 for each treatment session. But remember, it can be different in various clinics and from person to person.

What Age Should You Get It?

We begin to have facial lines and wrinkled skin for the late 20s because the skin’s collagen production will start to go down after we are 25 years of age. Anyone above the age of 18 years can get these cosmetic cures. So, the early 30s is a good time for these cures. The skin condition will only worsen if you delay. You will then require a higher dosage. It may also take you more time to get the result, which means more sessions.

Dysport, Botox are both good and safe. However, Botox treatments have often been proved to be better for most people.

What to Know If You’re a First-Time Homebuyer in Toronto

Many first-time homebuyers aren’t sure about what they want.  They have a vague idea of a two or three-bedroom home and a budget but aren’t 100% sold on a specific style or look.  Toronto is a city that doesn’t wait for anyone, so it’s important that you know what you’re getting into before you start house hunting.

These are the best tips to learn before you start looking at Toronto homes!

The First-Time Home Buyer Incentive

Buying a home is a huge investment to make.  Because of this, many are worried about the prices or aren’t sure if they can make the down payment.  Thankfully Canada has a first-time homebuyer program that can help you out!

If you’re in Toronto and currently make less than $150,000 a year, this incentive may provide you with a 5-10% down payment to help you get across that first hurdle.  It’s important to take advantage of any help you can get: so talk to your real estate agent about this.

The Market in Toronto is Hot

Much like most of Canada within the last year, the market in Toronto is hot.  Home prices have skyrocketed, and houses have stayed on the market for less than two weeks.  The average had been 20 days as of 2019, but many have been more motivated to buy than ever before.

You must know what you’re looking for, pay attention to every property thoroughly, and make an informed decision quickly.  Don’t say yes to a house just because it’s available; make a smart choice.

Don’t Focus Only on the House Itself

The home isn’t the only thing you’re buying into when you purchase real estate in Toronto.  When home shopping, pay attention to the neighborhood and look at the local schools and entertainment.  Toronto has endless communities in it, so seek out an area that feels comfortable and like home to you.

If you’re planning on starting a family, look for homes near schools and public parks where you’ll get to take your future children.  Vancouver is the most diverse city on Earth, don’t hold yourself back from experiencing some of that in the area you live in!

Consider How the Price Has Changed

All home prices have skyrocketed, of course, but you must consider the home’s price past.  Look for any sudden dips or changes in the cost of the house and pay attention to what may have caused these.

If a home has experienced water damage or fire damage, this can impact the price, and if they repair it, a seller may resist disclosing it.  Get to know the properties and their history so you can see if you’re purchasing a property that comes with any risks.

Toronto is an Awesome Place to Buy if You’re Ready

Although there are plenty of fantastic cities in Canada for industry or art, Toronto is the best of both worlds.  This city has some of the best industries at its fingertips and offers neighborhoods and homes that could suit anyone’s tastes: don’t be afraid to make this move!

Michaels × Project Sunshine

The Michaels Companies, Inc. and Project Sunshine are partnering this holiday season to bring joy to pediatric patients and their families with a new Under the Sea Craft Kit for kids to use during their hospital stay. The rollout begins at Children’s Health in Dallas in December and will continue across the U.S. and Canada next year.

The Michaels and Project Sunshine Under the Sea Craft Kits are individualized packets of materials to inspire play and engagement, spark joy and provide therapeutic value to the physical and emotional healing process. Hedon × Krazy Horse

Hedon Helmets, the manufacturer of the world’s most luxurious and stylish motorcycle, bicycle and e-bike helmets, have a bold and refreshing retake on motorcycle culture. Flying the flags of individuality and style, they defy conformity and champion the eclectic.

Krazy Horse is much loved and highly influential in the UK moto community. Krazy Horse is a group of motorcycle, car and e-bike dealerships started by Paul Beamish as a hobby when he couldn’t get the bike parts he needed locally. Importing Harley Davidson parts, they started the business out of a wooden shed.

Since opening in 1995, Krazy Horse has grown massively. Thousands of customers visit their four showrooms every year to buy motorbikes, cars and now eBikes. They have become destination venues where petrol-heads (and now e-heads) can gather to indulge in their passions.

Paul has an eclectic taste in motorcycles, and currently stocks Indian, MV Agusta, Cabellero, Norton, Paton, Zaeta, Fantic, Zero Engineering, Energica and he builds custom motorcycles under the Krazy Horse Customs moniker.

Customers can also get their vehicles serviced, enjoy some retail therapy in the Krazy Horse lifestyle and apparel store, hang out and eat hearty food in the Krazy Horse Cafe. They also stage regular events at their Bury St Edmunds HQ, with bike and hotrod drive-in nights with bands, food and all sorts of shenanigans.

Krazy Horse have been supporters of Hedon since the start, having offered their helmets in all of their retail stores. To celebrate their friendship they decided to collaborate on a one-off helmet.

Krazy Horse wanted to create a helmet that represented Paul’s unique and bold personality. Paul loves Art Deco, as well as the color silver. It didn’t take long for Hedon’s Creative and Art Director Lindsay to come up with a design that was able to reflect that. Dark geometric silhouettes and shapes are one of the fundamentals in Art Deco which is why the Xtasy design was a great base.

The Hedon x Krazy Horse helmet is built on the classic Hedonist fiberglass and carbon-fiber open-faced shell. Its black diagonal cross cuts across a black base and a white top, with hand applied silver-flake sides. The Krazy Horse logo adorns the rear of the shell with the Hedon logo on the brow.

The helmet is trimmed with natural calf leather trim and lining, with gunmetal hardware and plate. It has Hed armor lining with 360-degree cushion padding. It can be paired with a Hedon shield or bubble visor in an array of colors or can be twinned with goggles.

The helmet is available for the Hedon or Krazy Horse website in early 2022. The price is $495.
