Robert Grunenberg – Brandon Lipchik

The Robert Grunenberg Art Gallery announces their upcoming solo exhibition by Brandon Lipchik. The show will open on Wednesday, September 9th, 2020 and will be available until October 24th, 2020 in Berlin. In response to regulations concerning COVID-19, the gallery is monitoring the situation and will adjust the opening event according to the rules of conduct. Please stay tuned.

Brandon Lipchik’s work investigates the process of digital collage and painting within subjects of the male nude, queer identity, and Americana. He is often thought about in context with other contemporary painters which investigates identity between the sum of both real and digital spaces. Lipchik uses 3-D modeling software and other digital tools to reconstruct and re-stage figurative settings as a means to begin the painting process. During the process of translation between digital compositions to paintings, Lipchik emphasizes the importance of discovering new possibilities with paint as influenced by digital screens. Opposed to reproducing the flatness that the digital screen provides, Lipchik emphasizes areas of tactile and physical qualities of paint to simultaneously engage in a dialogue between tactility of real-world experience and the flatness and immateriality of digital spaces.

South of Eden Dancing With Fire

South of Eden – “Dancing With Fire”

SOUTH OF EDEN RELEASES OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR “DANCING WITH FIRE”

After their announcement that they have officially signed to Lava/Republic Records, Columbus, OH four-piece South of Eden release the official music video to their new single “Dancing With Fire.”

Watch the official music video for “Dancing With Fire” HERE!

On the music video the band said “ ‘We wanted this to be a personality piece, and with all of us in quarantine we knew the best way to do that was to show what we have accomplished leading up to this release. John Payne, our media man, has been following us around for the last two years! The best thing to show with raw music is raw footage.” The song’s official music video follows the band through months on the road including the band’s first label performance (look out for a cameo by LAVA’s own Jason Flom). It includes footage from South of Eden HQ in Columbus, OH and shows the band in their natural habitat.

Rip-roaring riffs abound on this incendiary and irresistible anthem. Helmed by GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Greg Wells [Adele, Twenty One Pilots, Deftones], hyper-charged guitars and thunderous percussion collide with towering falsetto as the refrain soars to the heavens and back. Emerging with a scorching sound of their own, the boys siphon grunge melody into classic rock-style virtuosity with unapologetic attitude and a whole lot of grit. On the song the band noted: “We knew we wanted our first release to showcase our personalities, both in the music and the visual. “‘Dancing With Fire’ is just that; personality. It’s a song about conflict, and to us that conflict is being a bunch of twenty-two-year-olds attempting to make it as a rock band in unprecedented times. We’re excited to see how people interpret the song into their own lives.”

Listen to “Dancing With Fire” HERE (via LAVA/Republic Records.)

South Of Eden—Ehab Omran [lead vocals, acoustic guitar], Justin Young [lead guitar, vocals], Tom McCullough [drums], and Nick Frantianne [bass]—channel timeless rock ‘n’ roll energy through a modern perspective. Making waves as they shared bills with Puddle of Mudd and Red Sun Rising, graced the stage of rock mecca Sonic Temple and Epicenter in 2019, and recently performing with everyone from Foo Fighters to System of A Down. LAVA founder Jason Flom caught wind of the band and signed them the same year. Now, the group reinvigorate rock on their forthcoming 2020 debut for LAVA/Republic Records.

Tamar Braxton Attempted Suicide

By Eamonn Burke

American singer, actress, and TV personality Tamar Braxton was found by her boyfriend unconscious in her hotel room last Thursday. After an emergency call about a possible overdose she was transported to a local hospital. It’s reported that she had been drinking and using prescription pills that night, and the incident is believed to be an attempted suicide after this note was allegedly discovered:

“I am a slave. I do not own my life. My stories. My pictures. My thoughts or beliefs. I’ve asked my massa to free me. I’m threatened and punished for it. The only way I see out is death. I will choose that before I continue to love (sic) like this. Please help me.”

Tamar’s team has thanked fans and friends for the “outpouring of support that Tamar has received”, which is “a testament to the light that she brings to people.” Her family, meanwhile, asks fans to “pray 4 our family.”

It’s no secret that Tamar was having a tough time leading up to the incident. She sent an email the the bosses of WeTV, her network, shaming them for destroying her family and making her suicidal. She claimed that the show Braxton Family Values distorted the image of her family and caused “disarray” among them, even likening it to “cruel white slave masters who once chained our forefathers.”

Reports say Tamar is now awake and fully conscious, and is being moved to another hospital where she can receive more specific treatment for her apparent mental illness. She will remain there until further action is determined.

Women Suing Fox News for Rape, Misconduct

By Eamonn Burke

Ed Henry, long time Fox News anchor who was fired under accusations of sexual assault this month, is now being sued by two women named Jennifer Eckhart and Cathy Areu. Eckhart, a former associate producer for Fox, alleges that Mr. Henry offered promotions in exchange for a sexual relationship with her. Co-plantiff Areu also accuses him of harassment in the form of inappropriate messages and also mentions Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Howard Kirtz in other “sexual charged” instances.

Fox News responded by acknowledging Eckhart’s claims and assuring that they fired Henry as soon as they heard of them. As for Areu’s allegations, they dismissed them as “false, patently frivolous and utterly devoid of any merit” as determined by a law firm they hired. Mr. Henry’s lawyer, Catherine Foti, does not accept the allegations from either party: “The evidence in this case will demonstrate that Ms. Eckhart initiated and completely encouraged a consensual relationship” she asserted.

Ms. Eckhart’s account of her interactions with Mr. Henry do not suggest something consensual, instead something far from it. The suit, filed on Monday, says that Henry “sexually assaulted her on office property, and raped her at a hotel where Fox News frequently lodged its visiting employees.” Additional information says that Eckhart was handcuffed, and Henry took photos of her afterwards.

The suit also claims that Fox News knew that Henry was engaging in this behavior as far back as 2017, and only did something about it now in order to “get ahead of this suit.” This accusation has major implications, and suggests perpetuation of the misogynistic culture that is rumored to exist at Fox News, which came to the forefront when news tycoon Roger Ailes faced multiple allegations of sexual harassment.

The women are suing for sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment, retaliation, and violation of sex trafficking laws, and are seeking damages.
