Norwegian Air Customers Donate to UNICEF

$3 Million Donated to UNICEF by Norwegian Air Passengers

Customers of Norwegian Air, the World’s Best Low-Cost Long-Haul Airline and Value Airline of the Year, have donated a total of three million dollars since a donation option was introduced to the booking process in July 2015.

Within its first year, the new donation option raised more than $720,000, and in July 2018, Norwegian introduced onboard donations featured in the personal in-flight entertainment system on its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet. American passengers are among the top donors with Californians donating the most to UNICEF.

Norwegian and UNICEF established its signature partnership in 2007. Since then the airline has supported various initiatives, which also includes its “Fill a Plane” campaign, saving hundreds of thousands of children. Five humanitarian flights carried out since 2014 have brought tons of emergency aid to the Central African Republic; the world’s second-largest refugee camp, Za’atari in Jordan; Mali; to Djibouti for relief to Yemen; and last year, to Chad.

Through the booking process customers can choose to donate $3, $5, $10 or $15, which will go directly to UNICEF. Donations can support the following:

  • $3 can provide a life-saving mosquito net, which will protect newborns against malaria;
  • $5 can enable UNICEF to vaccinate 20 children against polio;
  • $10 can provide an entire class of 20 students with exercise books; and
  • $15 can buy 38 packets of therapeutic food – enough for two-weeks of treatment for a malnourished child.

“I would like to personally thank all our wonderful customers for their generosity. Their donations help UNICEF ensure that even more children around the world get access to the future they deserve. When it is this easy to donate, we notice that many more contribute to such a great cause,” said Norwegian’s Founder and CEO, Bjørn Kjos.

“So much of UNICEF’s work is made possible by the ongoing generosity of partners like Norwegian Air,” said Caryl M. Stern, President and CEO, UNICEF USA. “We are incredibly grateful for the support and commitment of Norwegian Air and travelers to help UNICEF continue to put children first around the world. Every donation – large or small – makes a difference.”

Norwegian passengers donate the most as they also represent the largest nationality of the airline’s customer base. Most generous per donation, however, are the Danes. Among American customers, passengers out of Oakland are the most generous per donation (average $5.50 donation), followed by Los Angeles ($5.40) and New Yorkers ($5.08), although in total, more New Yorkers donated as the city is home to most Norwegian routes.

Top 10 routes where passengers have donated the most to UNICEF during their booking process:

1)  London – New York

2)  New York – London

3)  Bergen – Oslo

4)  Oslo – Bergen

5)  Trondheim – Oslo

6)   Los Angeles – London

7)   Stockholm – London

8)   London – Los Angeles

9)   Oslo – London

10) Oslo – Trondheim

Last year, nine Norwegian employees also raised more than $50,000 by representing the airline and UNICEF during the NYC Marathon. This year, another group of employees will do the same.

“Valee is changing the sound of hip-hop in 2018, one unpredictable verse at a time.”RollingStone

Valee’s innovative style makes it impossible to predict what might come next.”Pitchfork

“Valee doesn’t sound like anything happening in Chicago hip-hop right now.” – Noisey

ABOUT VALEE:
In an era when aspiring public figures broadcast constantly in an effort to maximize their brand value, Valee’s coolly laconic stands apart. With short songs and a soft-spoken style, his unpredictable raps sketch subjects with a droll eye for detail over a bass-heavy canvas. This is trap music for the connoisseur, for fans of clever lyrics and effortless style. Valee grew up on Chicago’s South Side. When he received toys as a child, he would break them apart to figure out how they worked, a method he applies to his own process with music today:  “Sometimes I rap and cut and copy and paste and move parts around and it changes the whole song, for the better.” His music career began when, intent on buying a gaming system, he stopped at Guitar Center instead. “I just wanted to make beats better than what I hear on my mixtapes or on the radio, and I wanted to rap on it. I wasn’t thinking about anyone else at all.” His counterintuitive approach across five mixtapes and his G.O.O.D. Music debut EP, GOOD job, You Found Me, has captured the ears of artists and music aficionados alike, drawn to his unorthodox approach.

Olivia O’Brien “Just a Boy”

OLIVIA O’BRIEN surpasses 1.5 billion global streams & releases new track “Just a Boy” from highly anticipated debut album out next Friday, April 26

“JUST A BOY” FEATURED ON COSMOPOLITAN’S INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT HERE

“deep, soulful vocals” – Billboard

“her truest test of artistry is in her music, which she writes herself.” – V Magazine

“she’s proving to be a name on the rise” – Complex

Olivia O’Brien could go on and on rattling off “lame excuses from guys” that you screenshot and forward to your friends for commiseration, sympathy, a laugh, or often response advice…

You don’t need to ask what to say anymore though because the 19-year-old critically acclaimed Los Angeles based singer and songwriter presents the answers on her 2019 full-length debut due this spring via Island Records.  “I wrote this in a really dark place” she says, “and I hope I can help other people who may be in that same spot. My idea was for you to listen to the album when you’re feeling sad and by the end, you’ll feel better without even realizing it.

Their actions also had her asking if any of those relationships were even real.  On the flip side, you can believe her words, and that’s why she made a major dent in pop music. The purple-haired songstress put up legit numbers, racking up more than a billion streams by 2019.  She arrived as the rare talent who can share a song with everyone from G-Eazy and Drew Love of THEY. to gnash and received early support from the likes of Paper, The Coveteur, NYLON, V Magazine, and Idolator.

Now, Olivia takes everything back by way of her first record. “Obsessed with guitar,” she nodded to influences as diverse as Tame Impala, Kid Cudi, Amy Winehouse, and Fleetwood Mac.  The introductory single “Love Myself” serves as the album’s finale, but it also earmarks the beginning. Hinging on dreamy clean guitar, she turns her voice inward as she confesses in a booming chorus, “I don’t need to know who I am yet. I don’t need to have a solid plan yet. I don’t need to be the same as everyone else. I just need to motherfucking love myself.”

“I should love myself, but I don’t,” she goes on. “I should treat myself better, but I don’t. It doesn’t have the same unattainable note that a lot of happier, confident songs have. So much other shit is like, ‘I already love myself. I’m confident. I’m great’. This is more attainable. It starts with being easier on yourself. So many kids are depressed. I wanted to end on a high note.

Latinidad in American Festivals

Until recently, urbane Latin music has been scarce in mainstream American music festivals. Thus, the 2019 Coachella latino lineup is a huge deal because it’s the largest and most profitable one on the planet.

In the past, only a few latin artists have performed at the prestigious venue – Cafe Tacvba and The Mars Volta. In 2010, Calle 13 was the first urbano latino artist to hit the stage. In 2018, there were a total of 11 latin artists such as Helado Negro, Ibeyi, Los Angeles Azules, Kali Uchis and Cuco. Fast forward to the present, there’s 17 latin artists slated to perform at this year’s Coachella – a total win for the culture! As we all know, this roster will and has already attracted a much more diverse audience.

As of late, J Balvin brought reggeaton and latin urbano back to the stage. His performance included reggeaton classics like “Oye Mi Canto” by N.O.R.E featuring Nina Sky and “Rakata” by Wisin y Yandel. Bad Bunny took to the stage on April 14th and returns again on the 21st to make a second iconic show. Los Tucanes de Tijuana (popular group from the late 80’s) graced the stage playing “La Chona” and other hits.

Chilean singer, Mon Laferte, has sold over a half of a million albums in Latin America and is also listed on this year’s lineup. Her career began on a singing competition show in Chile, Rojo.

In short, the amount of Latin as well as minority artists added to major festival lineups will continue to develop, namely due to Beyoncé’s Homecoming.

Pininfarina Battista Electric Hypercar

Pininfarina Battista Electric Hypercar Debuts in North America

The Battista represents a new reality for electric car desirability in cities, in suburbs and on circuits

Automobili Pininfarina launched its stunning pure-electric 1,900hp Battista hypercar in North America – just one year after the company was introduced at the 2018 Rome Formula E race. Shown in the days leading up to the New York Auto Show, the production-ready model was debuted during an exclusive, invite-only event at Studio 525 in Chelsea by Michael Perschke, CEO and Luca Borgogno, Design Director.

During the event, one of only 150 Battistas, painted in a stunning Grigio Luserna satin-grey carbon with Blu Iconica design accents, was on display. The world-first car was revealed to an excited audience of car collectors, supercar owners, business leaders, automotive influencers and members of the media.

To celebrate its arrival in the world’s biggest market for both supercars and electric cars, a new film of the Battista in action, driving through the streets of New York has been released.

“The Battista’s arrival in New York is a proud moment for the entire Automobili Pininfarina team, as we can finally begin to bring the next generation of hypercars to discerning customers throughout North America” said Perschke. “We’re quite confident that this is the car that makes the United States fall in love with ultra-high-performance electric vehicles.”

Pulling from traditions of Italian design and European engineering, alongside the latest in cutting- edge technology, the company is entering a previously unoccupied market segment with great potential. The new demand for high performance zero-emission vehicles, driven by the increasing emissions regulations in the urban centers of major global cities, puts the Pininfarina Battista at the forefront of a growing trend in the ultra-luxury automobile market.

The Battista’s showing in New York coincides with the beginning of Pininfarina’s search for strategic partners to execute the next phase of its development plans. Following the enthusiastic reception of the Battista, Pininfarina plans to launch a full range of high-end, zero emissions SUVs, broadening its consumer reach in the luxury electric vehicle market.

Deliveries of the Battista to North American clients begin in late 2020, with over half the allocation already reserved.

The Easy & Fun Way to Choose Healthy Products: NEW HueApproved Scanner

If you have ever found yourself looking at labels at the grocery store or online and trying to decide on the best product for you, our HueApproved Scanner will make it easy for you!
Check out how it works here:
Our philosophy is simple:
Food as Fuel to Color Your World.

We are a third party, unbiased, wanting to help you make the best lifestyle choices!

We love simple. Easy home cooked meals. Lots of colorful fruits and vegetables. Nutritious products with clean labels. But cutting a pathway through the clutter can be hard work and we need your help.

Nutrients are important. Using the nutrition label or recipe analysis, we check protein, fiber, sodium, sugar, and saturated fat.

Ingredients are important. We look for recipes developed by our HueChefs made with whole minimally processed ingredients and we look for packaged foods with fewer additives.

Behaviors are important. Making time to cook at home is best but we know you need other more convenient options.

And finally the pattern is important. At the end of a day, it’s the sum total of individual choices that determines the pattern. The more variety you bring into your day, the better.

So we envisioned a pattern for a good food day based on nutrients, ingredients, and behaviors. Then we developed a tool to assess how well a product or a recipe compares to that pattern on a scale of 1 to 7.

We sum the scores to get a final value between 1 and 7. The higher the number, the more we approveand we need your help to test it out for us!
