Witches × Warlock Paddles

Last Saturday, a shadowy group of Witches and Warlocks created a fun and frightful scene when they took over Morro Bay, CA. Local professional photographer Danna Joy Dykstra-Coy witnessed the event and memorialized the scene with these amazing photographs. “We started this event six years ago to celebrate Halloween,” says Annette Ausseresses, one of the original witch paddlers. “Since then, we’ve seen the idea really take off and now there are Witches and Warlock Paddles happening from coast to coast. So, we decided to add a donation component and make it public this year.” Canned goods and/or cash donations were collected for the Food Bank of San Luis Obispo County, a network of community partners dedicated to alleviating hunger in San Luis Obispo County while building a healthier community.  For more information on all the exciting things to do and see in Morro Bay, visit www.morrobay.org.

NYBG × Kusama

The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) announced that KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature, its major 2020 exhibition of work by internationally celebrated Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama (b. 1929), will open on May 9, 2020. Tickets for the landmark presentation will go on sale January 29, 2020, at nybg.org/kusama.

NYBG is the sole venue for KUSAMA: Cosmic Nature, which will be on view May 9‒November 1, 2020. The exhibition will include works from throughout her career and multifaceted practice, and debut new works created by the artist such as the monumental Dancing Pumpkin (2020). NYBG is a 250-acre museum of plants that lies just 20 minutes from midtown Manhattan and for visitors to New York, it offers a rare opportunity to view works, including immersive experiences, that encompass Kusama’s entire career. Some of the works on view at NYBG will be seen for the first time in the United States.

Kusama’s profound engagement with nature will be represented in depth, with multiple installations, including her signature mirrored environments and organic forms, colossal polka-dotted sculptures of flora, mesmerizing paintings, and her first-ever participatory greenhouse installation. Sketchbooks from her youth portend Kusama’s lifelong fascination with the natural world that has inspired her aesthetic throughout her prolific career. On view through November 1, 2020, opportunities to experience her work throughout the changing seasons from spring into fall will entice return visits.

Carrie Rebora Barratt, Ph.D., CEO & The William C. Steere Sr. President of The New York Botanical Garden, said, “The Garden is uniquely suited to present this once-in-a-lifetime display of Yayoi Kusama’s work for our visitors. An exceptional selection of work invites visitors into her universe, to consider her practice through her unique vision of the natural world. Our subtitle, Cosmic Nature, references her bold investigations of materiality, media, color, form, and pattern that proliferate into an expansive sense of becoming with the cosmos. We are thrilled to mount this focused survey of the work of one of the most influential artists of our time.”

The exhibition will be installed across the Garden’s 250 acres and in several of its historic buildings. Outdoor works will include large-scale sculptures. The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory will display a spectacular horticultural tribute to Kusama based on one of her vibrant paintings. The LuEsther T. Mertz Library Building will feature immersive experiences as well as examples of her earlier work—botanical sketches, paintings, works on paper, biomorphic collages, assemblages—and recent soft sculpture and canvas works. Many of these will be on view for the first time in the U.S.

Visit nybg.org/kusama to sign up for updates and alerts on the exhibition and related public programming. Tickets go on sale for NYBG Patrons and Members on January 15, 2020.

TAILOR-MADE PIRELLI TIRES

FOR THE LATEST FERRARI 488 CHALLENGE EVO

At the Finali Mondiali in Mugello, the new GT car for Ferrari’s one-make challenge will be presented on Pirelli tires that have been especially made for it. This opens yet another fascinating chapter in the exciting 27-year history that unites these two iconic Italian companies

Pirelli has presented the new Pirelli P Zero DHA tire for the new Ferrari 488 Evo for the 2020 season and beyond on all four Ferrari Challenge championships (Europe, North America, Asia Pacific and UK). Racing supercars and hypercars from the celebrated XX programme, as well as historic Formula 1 cars, all on Pirelli tyres, were also featured in the thrilling presentation.

PIRELLI AND THE FERRARI CHALLENGE, 27 YEARS TOGETHER

During the 27th Ferrari Finali Mondiali at Mugello, Pirelli presented the tire for the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo. It’s a tire that meets all the demands imposed by Ferrari, allowing the new racing machine to lap faster than its predecessor. Pirelli has been the exclusive supplier to the Ferrari Challenge since the series made its debut in 1993, in all the regions of the world where these championships run.

SEVEN MONTHS ON SEVEN CIRCUITS

Pirelli’s engineers worked in close collaboration with their counterparts at Ferrari for nearly seven months to create this latest tire. The new tire, available in 275/675-19 DHA size (at the front) and 315/705-19 DHA (at the back) was developed starting from a virtual model, which can also be used for driving simulators. Its characteristics were then validated through indoor laboratory tests, before real life testing was carried out on seven European circuits, including Vallelunga, Mugello, Le Castellet and Silverstone. These sessions helped to assess road holding and integrity in different driving and weather conditions, confirming the all-round performance of the new 488 Challenge Evo. This latest P Zero adopts a new tread compound and is made on the motorsport production line at Pirelli’s factory in Romania, where the company also makes the tires for Formula 1.

MOTORSPORT: AN OPEN AIR LABORATORY

Mario Isola, Pirelli’s head of F1 and car racing, said: “The Ferrari Challenge represents an important technical collaboration as it allows our engineers to develop solutions in extreme conditions that can then be transferred to our road car tires. The latest evolution of our P Zero tires for the Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo demonstrates once again how Pirelli’s advanced technology combines with the best of the automotive industry in motorsport as well.”

Lewis Capaldi – Bruises

After topping the U.K. Official Singles chart for a nearly unprecedented seven weeks, Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” is No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in its 24th consecutive week on the tally and the first No. 1 single from a debut U.K. artist since February 2016.

In addition, “Someone You Loved” is No. 1 on the U.S. Top 40 Radio chart for the second week running, spent 2 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot AC Radio chart, No. 1 on the U.S. Shazam chart for the eighth consecutive week and hit top 5 on the U.S. Spotify chart. Worldwide streams of the track are approaching two billion. Already certified Platinum by the RIAA, “Someone You Loved” has now earned 2.5 million equivalent song units in the U.S. It is certified Platinum or greater in a total of 18 countries. Watch the official video HERE

The 23-year-old Scottish singer-songwriter recently performed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”  He made his U.S. late night television debut on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in June. The following week, he performed “Someone You Loved” on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” and, in a first for the show, Corden invited Capaldi back to perform for a second night in a row. Capaldi recently wrapped a sold-out headline tour of North America and his March 2020 tour of the UK and Ireland sold out in mere seconds, making him the first artist in history to sell out arenas prior to the release of a debut album. Full itinerary can be found here.

Capaldi’s debut album, Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, is the fastest selling UK debut of 2019 with 90,000 albums sold in the first week. To date, it has sold over 1.5 million adjusted albums worldwide and combined global streams now exceed 2.6 billion.

Earlier this month, Capaldi released the four-track Bruises EP, which includes the album version of “Bruises” plus a Live Orchestral Version, a guitar acoustic and the Steve Void Remix. Watch the official video for “Bruises” HERE. After Capaldi self-released “Bruises” two years ago, he became the fastest unsigned artist to reach 25 million plays on Spotify.

Robert Christgau, reviewing for Noisey, awarded Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent an A- and hailed it as “a feat of uncommon emotional intelligence.” The Los Angeles Times says, “Capaldi uses his powerful chest voice to reach the cheap seats. In the weathered grain of his singing, you can hear a performer capable of turning pain into beauty.” Stereogum declares, “Capaldi is establishing himself as a Stateside force…sending shivers down millions of spines whenever he switches into performance mode,” TIME says, “Lewis Capaldi has the kind of deep, textured voice that you could listen to for hours,” and the Associated Press raves, “Capaldi’s album (hits) you in the gut with piercing lyrics anchored by his gravelly voice…packed with emotion and passion.”

Capaldi was hailed as a 2018 Vevo DSCVR Artist To Watch and a 2019 Vevo LIFT Artist, longlisted for the BBC Sound Of 2018 Poll, and won Breakthrough Artist of the Year honors at the Scottish Music Awards. He was nominated for the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice award and named an MTV UK PUSH Ones To Watch artist. Capaldi has toured with Ed Sheeran, The Killers, Bastille, Rag’n’Bone Man, Niall Horan, and Sam Smith, and performed at such festivals as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Firefly, Mountain Jam, Splendour in the Grass, Fuji, and Osheaga.

Ride Vision

Israeli startup Ride Vision to partner with Sara Assicurazioni to reduce motorbike accidents in Italy

  • Ride Vision’s predictive vision system equips motorcyclists with low-cost threat alerts using their patented Collision Aversion Technology (CAT™).
  • Sara Assicurazioni is a leading Italian insurance provider and a partner of the Automotive Club of Italy (ACI).
  • The two companies are collaborating to reduce motorcycle accidents in Italy, assessing the significant reduction of annual premiums of motorcyclists when they retrofit the Ride Vision system into their vehicles.

Two-wheelers are the most vulnerable vehicles on the road. In fact, motorcyclists are 28 times more likely to die in an accident than a car occupant. Sara Assicurazioni and Ride Vision are partnering together to reduce these accidents and improve Italy’s overall road safety.  Motorcyclists insured by Sara Assicurazioni could be eligible for significant discount on their yearly premium when they retrofit their vehicles with Ride Vision’s system. This offer will take effect next year when Ride Vision’s system officially hits the Italian market.

Such incentives have become key to reducing overall collisions on the road. Road accidents are not only costly in human lives but financially costly to governments and insurers as well. Keen to save lives and mitigate these costs, insurers are increasingly turning to the hi-tech industry for solutions. “Road safety has always been our main focus, and we’re now glad to start addressing the area of motorbikes where chances for an accident are higher,” says Alberto Tosti, General Manager of Sara Assicurazioni. “This is why we’re developing a promotional offer for Ride Vision retrofitted bikes.”

While insurer incentives do already exist in the automotive market, they have mostly focused on providing solutions for cars. The high occurrence of motorbikes accidents has left this segment of the vehicular insurance industry markedly ripe for similar collaboration. A survey by ACI-Istat revealed that 41,414 motorcycle accidents in Italy resulted in 755 fatalities and 49,447 injuries in 2018 alone. Our collaboration addresses an untreated segment of two-wheeler commuters and fleet operators to promote road safety. We’re confident that Ride Vision and Sara’s agreement will bring innovation to an often-overlooked community and is a crucial step forward to reduce accidents,” says Uri Lavi, CEO & Co-founder at Ride Vision.

The Ride Vision-Sara collaboration is unique precisely because it is the first of its kind to exclusively target this critical segment. In fact, Ride Vision is the first vehicular predictive system singularly tailored to motorcycles to enter the market. Filling this prime space for safety improvement is paramount as increasing congestion in cities drives up motorcycle purchases. This trend has most notably taken hold of Italy, which, according to FEMA’s most recently available Motorcycle Safety and Accident report, contains over 6,500,000 motorcycles, the largest amount of any EU country.

How Ride Vision Works

Ride Vision developed an Advanced Rider Assistance System with CAT™ – Collision Aversion Technology. CAT™ is a fusion of Artificial Intelligence (Neural Networks) and Computer Vision designed to seamlessly integrate with the motorbikes, utilizing standard cameras as visual sensors. CAT™ recognizes and analyzes relevant threats without disturbing the rider’s critical focus. Ride Vision’s Advanced Rider Assistance System also operates as a dashcam, allowing bikers and 2-wheeler fleet operators to maintain evidence recording in case of an accident. Ride Vision’s CAT™ will be available in Italy from the beginning of next year by Ride Vision’s official distributor Autobynet SpA.

About Ride Vision

Ride Vision is an Isreali startup created by technologists and motorbike enthusiasts Uri Lavi and Lior Cohen. Ride Vision’s computer vision and neural network-based CAT™ – Collision Aversion Technology – leverages standard hardware and cameras to sense, predict, and warn riders of threats on the road. Ride Vision can be incorporated into any new or traded motorbikes of any price range.

About Sara Assicurazioni

Sara Assicurazioni is a principal insurance provider in Italy and offers a host of plans across all spectra of liability, accident, property, and vehicular insurance. The company partners with the Automotive Club of Italy (ACI) and is one of Italy’s leading insurers for motorcycles.

Top 10 Hair Cut Ideas You’ll Want to Try Right Now

If you’re looking to update your look, you need to take these hair cut ideas into consideration. These are the hottest fall looks, and you’ll be inspired.

Are you ready to change your look and try a new haircut but you’re not sure what you want?

Celebrities, Instagram stars, and models can seemingly rock any style or color and look good. But some styles are more flattering (and attainable) than others. Finding a style that looks good on you and is still fashionable can be challenging.

Find inspiration with these hair cut ideas and styles perfect for any season. Keep reading to learn which cuts work for long and short hair and which style is best for you.

Blunt-Cut Bob

Ready to go short for the fall? The blunt cut is big this year leading to chic styles like the blunt bob. The bob is a go-to for many women because it flatters every face style.

Shorter styles also give damaged or over-processed hair new life and make your hair look healthy again. Recently, star Emilia Clarke cut off her long locks and rocked this shorter look.

Elegant Waves

Two of the biggest trends for this year are waves and curls. Gentle waves that cascade down your face look both elegant and feminine. Look to stars like Mila Kunis for inspiration if you want to try this look.

Another wavy hairstyle coming back this year? The finger wave. This style which was popular in the 1920s and 1930s has regained popularity in the last few years.

Sleek and Straight

Sleek and straight hair is still another fall-favorite. Straight bobs and lobs are the perfect lengths for turtlenecks, scarves, and fall sweaters.

Add shine and elegance to this style by straightening your hair and taming any unwanted frizz with some product. Tuck your hair behind your ears or pin it back for a youthful look.

Bardot Bangs

Popularized by pop culture star Brigitte Bardot, this look remains one of many trendy hairstyles that never go out of style.

If you’re tired of your current style and want to add some flair, bangs can transform your entire look. Bardot bangs never go out of style because they’re fun and flirty while still being professional.

Bronde

If you like your current length but you want to add visual interest, consider adding some color. One of the big styles this year is the “bronde” look which combines brown and blonde colors in a natural way.

If you can’t decide on light or dark hair then this style is for you. The warm and rich tones of this color combination are perfect for fall. And as a bonus, it’s also low-maintenance which means fewer trips to the salon.

If you’re looking for inspiration, check out the shadow roots trend. You’ll see all sorts of the latest hairstyles trying to invent a way to work the roots into the look. The shadow roots style allows your natural hair color to come through.

Caramel Highlights

Caramel highlights add warmth and dimension to your hair giving it that autumn sunlight vibe. Consider giving your hair an extra pop of color by adding highlights. This look also transitions well into the winter months and as your hair grows longer.

But what if you already have highlights but you feel you need to refresh your color? Demi-permanent hair color can lighten your blonde highlights and make your hair more vibrant.

Learn more about the difference between semi and demi hair colors so you and your stylist can achieve the look you want.

Wet and Wavy

Do you love that beachy hair look? If so, you’re in luck because wet and wavy hair is one of the hottest styles right now.

If you have long hair, ask for more layers for extra movement and volume. Opt for slightly damp and natural-looking waves. You can achieve this Instagram-worthy look with a curl diffuser.

The wet look works on both long and short hairstyles. With some hair gel to tame those flyaway strands, you can achieve a sleek and fashionable look.

Mid-Length

If you’re not ready for a bob or even a lob, mid-length hair is a good combination of functional and stylish. This classic style gives women a feminine look that’s easy to maintain and style.

As a bonus, you can pull mid-length hair up into a ponytail or bun when you hit the gym or don’t feel like styling your hair. If you want a more modern take on this look, avoid too many layers. Instead, add interest with some gentle waves by using a curling iron.

Mid-length and longer hairstyles look great with warm hats and headbands, making these cuts perfect for fall and winter. As a bonus, this style helps keep your neck warm.

Natural Curls

This is the time to let your full and curly hair shine because natural curls is one of the hottest fall hairstyles to try this year. Ask for external and internal layers to add shape and interest and reduce bulk.

Knowing which products to use is the key to mastering this look. Talk to your stylist and ask for suggestions for your hair type.

Shag Cut

The shag look is still big this year, bringing back those rocker vibes. This cut is artsy, lived-in, and casual. This style works on both long and short hair plus it’s low fuss and requires minimal styling to maintain.

So how do you get a shag cut? Ask your stylist for shattered layers for extra movement.

Sometimes stylists use razors to give layers more movement and to remove the weighed-down look of heavy hair. You can even pair this style with long bangs.

Give These Hair Cut Ideas a Try for Yourself

Trends come and go, but some styles last through the years. These chic and feminine hair cut ideas add interest and transform your look.

These are just a few of the current hairstyles making an appearance on both the red carpet and the streets. The next time you head to the salon, don’t be afraid to try one of them for yourself.

Should I Buy a Diesel Truck? 5 Convincing Reasons to Get It

Should I buy a diesel truck? If you’re asking this, you’re probably unable to make up your mind. Read below for 5 convincing reasons to buy a diesel engine.

Should I buy a diesel truck?

Buying a new truck is a big investment. Should you get a diesel or a gas truck? You’ll find people that are in both camps and depending on what you need to do with it, one might work better than the other for you.

Continue reading this article to learn convincing reasons why you should go with diesel.

1. Bring the Power

If you’re looking for maximum power then a diesel is where it’s at. When you’re driving a diesel truck, you’ll notice that it offers more torque than a gas engine.

Before buying, make sure to look at the torque as well as the horsepower, depending on what you’re going to be using the truck for. If you need to haul a lot of weight then you’re going to need a good amount of torque and that is what a diesel engine can give you.

2. Lower Fuel Costs

When you’re driving a diesel truck, you’re going to put out less money than if you’re driving a gas truck. While you might not see it while you’re fueling up at the pump, you’ll find that over time, you’ll notice that you are putting out less money for the same trips you took in gas engines.

3. Less Maintenance

When you’re reading through articles like this diesel truck battery resource, you’re likely to notice that you don’t have to do as much maintenance on your diesel engine as you do on a gas engine.

Most experts will tell you that diesel engines can go two to three times longer than gas engines before they need major maintenance work. You may put more money out on buying a diesel truck but you’re going to find out that you can save money because of less maintenance.

4. Great Used Value

If you like to get new vehicles and sell them without taking too much of a hit then a diesel is a good way to go. Since diesel engines can run for so long and hold their value pretty well, you can offer a good used value to potential buyers.

If you want to buy a diesel truck used, you’ll usually find that it is a good investment because it still has plenty of miles left in it.

5. Better Performance

While there used to be some serious drawbacks about having a diesel truck vs. a gas truck, those drawbacks are decreasing or gone altogether.

Remember the very noisy diesel engines you’d hear as a kid? Now take a listen to the diesel engines now. Not too bad, right?

Should I Buy a Diesel Truck? – Now You Know

Now you know the answer to your question, “Should I buy a diesel truck?” If you’re not ready to jet off to the dealership just yet, why not keep reading through our site? Check out the rest of our blog today for other helpful articles.
