NELLY’S DILEMMA Video Hits 1 Billion Views on YouTube

UMe/Republic announced today, Nelly’s single “Dilemma” from Nellyville is now officially part of YouTube’s Billion Views Club. Watch the video, here.

“It is both humbling and what every artist hopes for, to see your work from 20 years ago still getting such love from fans old and new. Super dope that a song made before YouTube existed is getting so much support now and shout out to Nelly fans and to my girl Kelly Rowland who helped make this song a hit when we made it and still a hit today!” – Nelly

Reaching 1 billion views on YouTube, “Dilemma” is one of only a handful of Rap/Hip-Hop music videos from the Pre-YouTube era to achieve this milestone. Nelly joins a diverse and elite group of artists from this era to do the same, including 50 Cent, Nirvana, Queen, Guns N’ Roses, Whitney Houston, The Cranberries and a-ha.

The video for “Dilemma” was directed by and produced by GRAMMY® Award winning Ryan Bowser pka GHOST (Monica, 112, Tyrese, Bow Wow).

The second song released from the Nellyville album, “Dilemma” featuring Kelly Rowland was a No. 1 single across multiple Billboard charts (Hot 100, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop/Top 40/Rhythmic). Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” was No. 1 on the charts, until it was replaced by his own single “Dilemma.” The smash hit went on to win that year’s GRAMMY® Award for Best Rap/Sung Performance.

“Dilemma” secured its place in the hearts of Nelly fans over the last 20 years and has recently been boosted by social media popularity from both existing fans and a whole new fanbase lip-syncing to the iconic song.

Born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr. in Austin, Texas, and eventually settling in St. Louis, Nelly is credited as putting St. Louis hip hop music on the map. The rapper showed early promise, forming The St. Lunatics in 1993 with his childhood friends, MCs “Ali” Jones, Torhi “Murphy Lee” Harper, Lavell “City Spud” Webb, and Robert “Kyjuan” Cleveland. After huge local success and persistence with their unique sound of southern-style hip hop, Republic Records signed Nelly and the St. Lunatics.

Nelly’s Official Artist Channel on YouTube features many of his classic videos remastered in HD.

Harley-Davidson Museum

The Harley-Davidson Museum’s latest acquisition goes on display beginning April 16

Plus, patio dining has returned to MOTOR Bar & Restaurant.

The Harley-Davidson Museum is proud to announce its collection has recently grown with the addition of a 1957 Model FL that was ridden by famed Mexican stunt rider and racer Alfonso Sotomayor Canales.

Harley-Davidson’s history in Mexico dates back to at least 1913. In the 1920s, the brand was more frequently spotted throughout Mexico City as the motorcycles proved popular with the local traffic police who would also perform stunts with their Harley-Davidson® bikes. After racing from the 1930s into the 1960s, Sotomayor launched his own stunt riding career by performing the famed “Salto de la Muerte” or Jump of Death.

Beginning Friday, April 16, H-D Museum guests can learn more about Sotomayor’s feats of derring-do and Harley-Davidson’s early entry into Mexico when this new display premieres. Can’t make it down to the crossroads of 6th & Canal just yet? Mark your calendars for our Virtual Gallery Talk on April 15 for a curator-lead exploration.

This month’s other Virtual Gallery Talks will explore the history of trailblazing women riders, H-D fashions throughout the years and more.

And with warmer temperatures in the forecast, it is time to get reacquainted with the waterfront and cityscape views found only on the patio of MOTOR Bar & Restaurant, home to hickory-smoked BBQ dishes like brisket nachos, BBQ stuffed potatoes, BBQ salads and so much more.

Finally, don’t forget about the H-D Museum’s all-new Annual Pass. Purchase one in 2021 and enjoy perks – like discounts throughout campus and free admission– through 2022.

The H-D Museum is still in the midst of its first step of phased reopening, and City of Milwaukee health officials have approved safety plans for the H-D Museum. Reinforced protocols to support healthy and safe environments for visitors and staff include enhanced cleaning procedures, hand sanitizing stations and online ticketing to ensure social distancing and limiting of capacity levels. Staff and visitors will be required to wear face coverings at all times. Learn more about protocols to support healthy and safe environments.

EXHIBITS

“Off-Road Harley-Davidson” (open now)
In the decades before America paved its highways, early riders had to be prepared for all sorts of terrain: sand, clay or dirt – and wandering those makeshift byways were Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Today, it’s called off-road or adventure touring; back then it was just called riding. Since 1903, Harley-Davidson motorcycles proved their toughness by riding over wooded hills, through stone-choked creek beds and up mountain sides. “Off-Road Harley-Davidson” tells the history of motorcycles designed for rough roads, the people who rode them and the adventures they shared.

“Building a Milwaukee Icon: Harley-Davidson’s Juneau Avenue Factory” (open now)
A recently recovered cache of architectural drawings includes plans for the original Juneau Avenue facility. The pencil drawings, along with archival photographs, demonstrate the whirlwind pace of the company’s early growth. While building an international business—going from producing just over 1,000 motorcycles in 1909 to manufacturing 27,000 motorcycles in 1920—the company’s Milwaukee factory experienced near-constant expansion. Construction through this relatively brief period created the buildings that today, a century later, are still the proud home of Harley-Davidson.

“Building a Milwaukee Icon” provides a snapshot of Harley-Davidson’s formative years and illustrates a chapter of Milwaukee history when the city was known as the “Machine Shop to the World.”

Camaro ZL1 Convertible

by Tara McDonough x Vaughn Lowery

2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible

At the starting price of $67,500 the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Convertible combines a beautiful exterior with the amenities and power to back it up. With a roof that folds down in under 20 seconds and the ability to go from 0-60 MPH in 3.5 seconds, any average drive can turn into a carefree cruise in the sun or the last lap of the Daytona 500. The Camaro ZL1 convertible is the high-speed drop-top to beat.

PERFORMANCE

The Camaro owes its incredible velocity to its 6.2L engine and supercharged V8. The fast-shifting model boasts a 650 hp and 650 lb.-ft of torque, the option of standard six-speed manual transmission or 10-speed automatic, and a maximum speed of 195 MPH. Brembo performance brakes ensure that even the fastest rides can be kept under control. Working hand in hand with the automatic transition are magnetic ride control, limited slip differential and exhaust dual mode performance. Custom Launch Control allows for optimized acceleration and Line Lock to lock the Camaro’s front wheels and enable the rear wheels to spin for maximum grip. The annual fuel cost comes out to $2,800 at 6.2 gallons per 100 miles and 16 MPG combined city and highway performance. The exhaust notes are music to the ears of any car enthusiast, mimicking the sounds of thunder and lightning. The quad exhaust can be compared to the Jaguar F Type SVR, but the Camaro comes in first place. Any driver will feel like a winner in this drag-race style convertible.

EXTERIOR

The Camaro ragtop has a hard tonneau top that reclines by remote activation for easy access and a frame that sits low, comparable to the Lamborghini Huracán. Aerodynamic enhancements like a front air dam, splitter and a carbon fiber hood extractor, along with a carbon fiber rear wing, help reduce lift and increase downforce to keep ZL1 glued to the track. The exterior is equipped with HD headlamps and tail lamps with LED signature and 20” wheels made of forged aluminum for a clean and forceful look. The styling screams power and appears much more refined than its predecessors. The rear end adopts fresh taillights and a revised bumper.

INTERIOR

Despite its roaring engine, the Camaro’s cabin has the quietest interior noise which pairs comfortably with Recaro leather trimmed bucket seats and suede seat inserts. The momentum and performance of the car pulls drivers in and the race inspired Recaro seats keep them there, snugly in place for a wild ride. The styling and refinements are reminiscent of German auto options. Front seats can be heated and ventilated and cuff the body tight on fast paced drives.

SAFETY

The Camaro not only comes equipped for speed, but for safety as well. It’s Stabilitrak stability control includes traction control combined with rear cross traffic alert, park assist and side blind zone alert. Owners are not only safe from driving mishaps, but battery rundown and theft as well.

TECHNOLOGY

Besides coming supplied with standard options such as voice recognition, Apple carplay, 4G LTE wifi hotspot and wireless phone charging, the Camaro includes an enhanced Performance Data Recorder. With the Data Recorder drivers are able to view real-time performance data in order to analyze technique and improve driving abilities. Any driver can train themselves for professional racing. Other notable additions include Chevrolet’s Infotainment 3 software, newly standard forward-collision warning and one of the best Bose sound systems in its class. If the noise cancelling cabin didn’t drown out the Camaro’s thunderous motor, then the concert-like sound experience would definitely do the trick.

The Camaro Convertible ZL1, with its bold rear styling, upgraded technology and insane performance, is equally at home on the road, track or drag strip.

APPLE × SAMSUNG

OF SMARTPHONES AND SUPREMACY —THE NEVER ENDING RACE BETWEEN APPLE AND SAMSUNG

Written by: Amardeep Singh

2016 and 2017 have been strange years for smartphone giants that seem to show no signs of backing out on every front. From Samsung‘s gadgets being seen as potential explosive bombs to Apple admitting its dirty tactics in slowing down its older phones for better sales, from Nokia making a valiant return with the 3310 to Google releasing Pixel. But before techies and phone savants declare their opinions on the best phone for the year as 2017 comes to an end, it’s important to review two of the most happening smartphones that had gripped everyone in hype.

IT’S ALL IN THE SPECIFICATIONS

The iPhone X debuted with a staggering size of 43.6 × 70.9 × 7.7 mm (5.65 × 2.79 × 0.30 inches) showing an absent home screen button when compared to the Note 8’s size of 162.5 × 74.8 × 8.6 mm (6.40 × 2.95 × 0.34 inches).

Initial advertisements by Apple boasted several of the phone’s  features such as a stunning 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display that shows a beautiful 2,436 × 1,125 pixels (458 ppi) home screen. Apple wasn’t just betting on visual appeal to be the main selling point but it seems that the new animated emoji( called animoji) clearly took the stage at the keynote speech.

The phone runs on an A11 Bionic  64-bit architecture with a 2716 mAh battery that Apple promises to power 12 hours of internet, 13 hours of video playback, 21 hours of talk time and up to 60 hours of audio playback. Cameras have seen a vast improvement in the latest release with a M10 motion co-processor being coupled with a dual 12MP rear (both with OIS) and a 7MP True Depth front that captures images up to 4K at 60fps. Video making too has been augmented with users now being able to shoot 1080p at 240fps. Beneath the silver or space Gray exterior the, the provides up to 64GB or 256GB of storage space and the newest iOS 11 framework.

All this for a standard price of nearly a $1000 which is likely to increase in the coming months as Apple hints the possible release of more color variants and even a rumored iPhone 9.

The Note 8 too isn’t much far in that regard when it comes to technology. While slightly heavier than its counterpart, the phone still takes the lead with a 162.5 × 74.8 × 8.6 mm (6.40 × 2.95 × 0.34 inches) size with a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display and a 2,960 × 1,440 (522 ppi) resolution. While the rear camera is no different than the iPhone ‘s12 MP feature, the front has an 8 MP capability. Early reviews stated that the phone hosts features to create videos at 4K at 30fps and 720p at 240fps. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 (U.S.)/Samsung Exynos 8895 (international) processor allows for 22 hours of talk time, 13 hours of internet, 16 hours of video playback, and up to 74 hours of audio playback.

Available at three storage spaces of 64GB (U.S.) 128, 256GB (International) and two colors of midnight black and orchid gray, the phone will cost buyers $ 930.

VERDICT— WHAT THE PUBLIC HAS TO SAY

The iPhone X launch brought some radical changes to its generation of smartphones which were welcomed by some but ridiculed and criticized by most. Despite showing some amazing sales figures when compared to the iPhone 7 which was considered to be no less than disastrous on the public front, the Note 8 still holds a competitive edge against the former.

Buyers are specifically amazed at the uses for Google Assistant and the S pen along with several other features such as Bixy, peripheral ports and its special lock-in procedures.

However, newer versions of the Note 8 have attracted some hindrance after users reported that they were unable to charge even on plugging after using them for the first time. Users are also dissatisfied with facial detection, screen burning and short battery lives on the latest iPhone. And the company too seems to be on thin ice as it revealed details about slowing down ageing phones which took a big crunch at its stock prices.

But only time will tell if either company can maintain a stronghold of their investors and consumers as the year comes to another end.
