“The rising LA rapper started his rap career just a few short years ago, but he already raps with the kind of wise, world-weary delivery that some artists don’t develop until they’ve been at it for twice as long….He raps his ass off, he tells introspective stories and tackles some heavy topics, and his words and delivery are both sharp.” – Brooklyn Vegan

“Maxo’s music showcases an underlying grittiness that effortlessly matches his stylish sound: a balance of low-key cool with a weariness that only comes from having to grow up too soon.” – Pitchfork

“The video suits the textured track wonderfully, complimenting its inviting sounds. With the swirling camera and gentle color pallette, it’s the perfect introduction to Maxo’s music.” – Complex

ABOUT MAXO

Maxo, 23, started recording his musings just a few years ago, inspired by his older brother’s struggles in coping with the world around him.

“That was around the time of Mike Brown and Trayvon Martin,” Maxo recalls clearly. “Just being a Black man will take a toll on you, whether you recognize it or not. That, in combination with trying to find yourself. It will drive you crazy. He lost his shit.” A middle child (he has a younger brother), it was tough to see his older bro—who loved to rap—hit a rough patch. When society stressed him out of his love of music, Maxo picked it up for him.

Hormone Disruptors

The 5 Biggest Disruptors Wreaking Havoc On Your Hormones

As 2019 dawns, some people are taking a “new year-new you” approach. They’re determined to make self-improvements that provide a fresh, positive outlook and strong sense of well-being.

But sometimes health factors undermine those good intentions, such as depression and its link to hormone imbalances. There are myriad ways both men and women suffer adverse effects to their hormones, says Don Colbert, M.D., and many of them are avoidable.

“We are exposed to thousands of toxic chemicals on a regular basis in the air, water and food,” says Colbert, author of Dr. Colbert’s Hormone Health Zone. “Some of them are hormone disruptors because they disturb your endocrine system, wreaking havoc and creating hormonal imbalances.

“Not only are the effects of all these disruptors depressing to think about; they actually cause depression, along with countless other ailments such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and more. But the basic principle is this: decreasing the number of disruptions will improve your health.”

Dr. Colbert breaks down the top hormone disruptors affecting men and women along with ways to minimize the disruption or stop it:

Lifestyle choices. “Whether it’s weight gain and a lack of exercise, anger and unforgiveness, drinking too much alcohol or some other thing that can be controlled, your hormone levels drop and you begin a slow slide to poorer health,” Dr. Colbert says. “Make better choices, and that dramatically decreases the chances of having any hormone deficiency symptoms.”

Medications. Medications affect the body’s cells, and sometimes side effects manifest in major problems. For example, Dr. Colbert cites Mayo Clinic research showing a prescription statin drug that lowered cholesterol could result in liver damage, memory loss or type 2 diabetes. “I estimate that 55 percent of the entire US population is taking pills that directly and negatively affect hormone levels,” Dr. Colbert says. “Get off these harmful medications you hate.”

Things you touch. Chemicals entering the body through the skin can cause long-term damage. Dr. Colbert notes phthalates, disruptors found in household cleaners, cosmetics, toys and numerous other products. “Phthalates negatively affect both men’s and women’s ability to use the testosterone that is in our bodies,” Dr. Colbert says. “Another is BPA (bisphenol A), found on the inside of metal-canned foods and plastic food-storing containers. Specifically, BPA has been found to cause or contribute to cancer, fertility problems, developmental issues and heart disease. I recommend buying glass jars of food and storing in ceramic containers.”

Diet deficiencies. “The standard American diet is usually low in key nutrients that support a healthy thyroid,” Dr. Colbert says. “Many patients with hormone imbalances have low iodine. The best solution is eat more vegetables, ideally raw or steamed.”

Aging. Dr. Colbert says estrogen levels for women begin to decline around the age of 50; for men, testosterone levels can drop low around age 45-50. “Aging is a natural combatant as a hormone disruptor,” he says, “but we can slow the acceleration of the effects of aging by optimizing our hormones. Healthy habits can make a huge difference.”

“Symptoms of serious problems indicated by hormonal imbalance can be reversed by those who focus on health in their diet, lifestyle and living environment,” Dr. Colbert says. “Then they can enable all of their systems to function optimally.”

Today, British producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist SG Lewis released his brand new collaborative single with Clairo ‘Throwaway’ via Casablanca/Republic Records in North America. The track follows ‘Blue’ as the second to come from ‘Dawn’, the third and final installment of his hugely ambitious three-part concept album Dusk, Dark, Dawn, out later this year.

‘Throwaway’ is the second collaborative track between SG and rising viral US star Clairo, after last summer’s breakthrough track ‘Better’. Clairo’s honeyed vocals on ‘Throwaway’ are perfectly framed by SG’s intimate, downtempo production; “Clairo is one of my favorite artists to work with, and a good friend of mine” says SG: “Throwaway was written in LA one evening – we were both super tired and had some shit going on in our respective personal lives. We sat and talked for ages, and after that Throwaway flowed out in no time at all. Clairo is such a special artist and an incredible songwriter, and I’m super proud of this song.”

Dusk, Dark,Dawn chronicles the trajectory of a night out through its different moods and genres and serves as a tribute to club and youth culture. While Dusk (released earlier in 2018) blended disco, smooth electro and funk and Dark explored distinctly heavier yet still diverse sounds, Dawn is a sonic embodiment of those euphoric sunrise moments and the feeling of togetherness at the end of a night well spent.

It’s been an incredible six months for SG Lewis that has seen the artist sell-out venues across the US, Asia and Europe. Dark lead single ‘Hurting’ has continued to grow, hitting No.1 on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart two weeks ago, and with SG set to play a prime slot at this year’s Coachella, he continues to cement his status as not just one of London’s hottest new talents but also a formidable artist capable of making a splash on both sides of the Atlantic.

SG has previously collaborated with Col3trane, Raye, Ray BLK, The Neptunes/N.E.R.D’s Chad Hugo, Gerd Janson, Conducta and more as well as producing Dave’s ‘100M’s’ proving his worth as one of the most respected and prolific musicians from the UK and a producer capable of working outside of genre and style.

Kevin Garrett Announces North American Tour

Pittsburgh-born and GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Kevin Garrett announces an 18 city headlining North American tour. The run will kick off on April 30th in Philadelphia, PA at The Foundry and wrap on May 31st in Atlanta, GA at Vinyl ATL. Full tour routing below and tickets are on-sale today HERE!

In conjunction with the tour announce, Kevin also drops track “Running From.” The song is the last to be released prior to the release of his debut album HOAX, out next Friday, March 22nd via AWAL. The album is available for pre-order HERE!

BUY/ STREAM “RUNNING FROM”

Kevin said about the song, “My friend Sean made the initial track with which I wrote this song. ‘Running From’ at face value is about being taken advantage of, but it’s more an inward reflection on why we back off from time to time and how we hold back with walls we don’t even know we’re building.”

Kevin introduced HOAX with the stark and simmering 2018 release of his single “In Case I Don’t Feel.” Backed by delicately plucked acoustic guitar and plaintive piano, he relays an unfiltered message. He has also recently unveiled tracks “Faith You Might” and “Don’t Rush.”

HOW CAN YOU GET ADDICTION TREATMENT WITHOUT INSURANCE?

One of the most critical situations in modern society is being alone in a difficult situation. What do we have to do if you found out that you are alcohol or drug addicted? Surely, the first thing to do if you cannot control yourself is to ask for help. However, sometimes it happens that you have nobody to ask for help or people, who wish to help have no possibilities.

How much does rehab cost without insurance?

Actually, there is no correct answer to this question, because different recovery programs use different techniques, different specialists work with you, they use different medicines, and there are many other different conditions, which determine the price. First, look through the types of rehab facilities to choose the one you need. They may be medical detox centers, intensive outpatient programs, holistic rehab center, partial hospitalization programs, standard outpatient treatment, etc.

To talk generally, inpatient treatment usually costs more than participation in outpatient rehabilitation programmes in Bellevue. It is evident as the inpatient treatment foresees that you live in the facility and use all the conveniences, receive food, get medical supervision. The price also depends on how long you stay in the rehab facility and what other services and amenities you require (private rooms, swimming pool, gym, massage, etc.).

One is tempted to ask the question of what to do if you have no opportunities to pay for your addiction treatment? Is that possible to get help for addiction without insurance?

Different social programs may cover your expenses for the rehabilitation programme partially or fully. First, if there are some life-threatening risks of consuming some substance, you would receive emergency treatment and regardless of whether you can pay or not. Hopefully, you will not get into such a situation.

There also exist some options for flexible payment. They may be scholarship, grant, financing, etc. It is important to note here is that cutting corners on recovery programme may turn into future problems. It is of utter importance to reclaim your health and life. The fact is that you would spend more money on drugs or alcohol if you continue succumbing to the addiction than on any rehab for people with no insurance (find more here).

Do not be too lazy to call several recovery centers and find out what conditions of payment they have. First, many treatment facilities may offer reduced treatment costs or a sliding fee scale because of the pieces of evidence that you do not make high enough income.

Secondly, there exist some non-profit organizations or foundations, which may offer you some scholarships. Usually, one of the conditions of getting a scholarship is the absence of insurance. Application for such programs may give you access to Humana rehab insurance with no existing insurance.

Thirdly, depending on your credit score, you may ask some lending institutions for providing drug or alcohol treatment without insurance. The specifications of such cooperation differ in each personal case.

Fourthly, do not be too shy to ask your friends and relatives. Sometimes they do not even know that you need this sort of help. Doctors say that involving family members into the process of recovery may make you closer and you would definitely feel more support. This may also change the views of your family on the attitude before and make it more integrated. A friend at court is better than a penny in purse.

To sum up, do not be afraid of sharing your problems. In the modern world, many people feel sympathy for those, who cannot afford treatment, so the only thing you have to do is to ask.
