TYLA +

With a GRAMMY and two Billboard records under her belt, Tyla adds to the magic of her debut album before returning to the stage and studio with three brand new tracks on the deluxe edition of her debut album, TYLA, and a victorious run through awards season, including three BET + VMA wins

Tyla adds to the fever of her breakout season with the arrival of the deluxe edition of her debut album, TYLA, available now as TYLA +. The refreshed album, which features three brand new tracks from the GRAMMY-winning singer, celebrates the historic run that began in Summer ‘23 and has resulted in the birth of true superstardom.

The new music includes guest features from rising South African stars Tony Duardo, Optimist and Maestro. Stream it here.

[Get: Tyla, ‘TYLA +’]

On TYLA +, Tyla shines a light on rising South African talent, featuring DJ/producer Tony Duardo and singers Optimist and Maestro, on the opening track of the deluxe trio, “Shake Ah.” The following two songs, “Push 2 Start” and “Back To You,” exhibit Tyla’s continued infusion of R&B into her Amapiano-led palate. “When Amapiano would come on, we would see everybody’s moves just change. Seeing the energy of it…it felt so spiritual,” Tyla reminisced to Elle. “I always wanted to mix it with other styles that I enjoy, like R&B and pop—and make it my own.”

Leading up to the explosion of “Water,” Tyla’s chart-dominant, multi-platinum breakout hit, the South African native was adamant in establishing her mission: to push the magic of Amapiano global. She then went on to chart “Water” at a Billboard Hot 100 peak of #7, making her the highest-charting African female soloist ever, and subsequently debuted TYLA, her first studio album, within the Billboard 200’s Top 25, making her the highest-charting African female soloist on that chart as well. “Water” went on to win a GRAMMY Award and earned Tyla a slot performing the song at the heralded opening ceremony for this year’s Paris Olympics. Mission accomplished.

“Water,” as it happens, is still being recognized for its widespread impact. Tyla is nominated for four MTV Europe Music Awards this year: Best New Artist, Best R&B Artist, Best Afrobeats Artist and Best African Act. The 2024 MTV EMAs will be held in Manchester, UK on Nov. 10.

The nominations come on the heels of Tyla’s victorious summer 2024, during which she earned two BET Awards—‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best International Act’—to go with a ‘Best Afrobeats Video’ at the MTV VMAs.

For Tyla, however, there is much more to come. She recently announced a pair of massive tour dates: Dec. 5 and Dec. 7 in her native South Africa, where she hasn’t performed since “Water” was released. It will be a welcomed homecoming for Tyla who, after just one album, is already one of the most globally renowned and successful artists ever from the region. Tickets will be on sale Thursday morning.

There is also more music still to come, as Tyla told PEOPLE in September. “It’s different,” she said. “I’ve grown so much this year. I’ve evolved in so many different aspects that this new music is going to be that version of me, the now version of Tyla.

Dive into TYLA + today.

Erika Alvarez

The Mexican is making fashion waves in London.

It was in 2004 when Erika Alvarez spent a year in California after informing her father of her desire to pursue a fashion career, to which he strongly rejected. She relocated to live half a year with her aunt near San Diego to contemplate alternative career paths if not in fashion, following her completion of a business degree in Mexico City.

In 2012, she made a life changing decision and move to London to chase her passion for the fashion industry. This bold move led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Fashion Marketing, where she would plant the seeds for her future success.

After years of dedication to her brand Erika Alvarez, founder of KOUA, unveiled her latest collection called Acapulco: Waves of Change during London Fashion Week, a collection which blends Mexican heritage with sustainable fashion, all while paying tribute to Acapulco.

Recognised as a creative force in the world of fashion, Erika Alvarez has always looked beyond just style. This new collection uncovers a deep focus on weaving together the artistry of Mexican textiles and social responsibility, making every piece a celebration of traditions, culture, and environmental awareness.

“I’m so excited to release my new collection. Acapulco-Waves of Change. It not only portrays childhood memories I had in the most famous seaside spot in Mexico, it tells the story of how this place have been impacted by environmental and social issues in the recent years.” Erika said.

The collection features 10 exquisite bags, each of which represents a love letter to Mexican craftsmanship. These pieces, brought to life by artisans from Oaxaca and Guerrero, who use sustainable materials like vegan leather and recycled cotton, combining modern design with traditional techniques.

“I know I can’t turn back time, but I can help to bring about change” Erika shared.

While this collection focuses on showcasing one of a kind pieces, it’s also inspired by meaningful moments and crafted with care to leave a lasting impression on both the fashion industry and the artisans who bring it to life.

“I encourage designers to create unique collections with my textiles. In this way, I hope to not only contribute to the artisan economy and the cultural preservation of their designs and techniques, but to also close the gender gap by empowering women fashion entrepreneurs and helping them to reach new markets, together.” Erika Alvarez, Founder of KOUA Mexico and KOUA Studio.

For Erika, this collection marks a significant step in her journey toward building a more sustainable and inclusive future, one that honors her Mexican roots while embracing global design sensibilities.

Reciprocity Jewels Announces Record Designer Submissions

Following Open Call for 2024 Exhibition at NYC Jewelry Week

Industry women, Andrea Jose, Jacqueline Barbosa, Delphine Leymarie, Dana Bronfman, and Olga Gonzalez, organize to support responsible sourcing with miners in the Peruvian Amazon.

Reciprocity Jewels is announcing the expansion of its designer roster for the upcoming exhibition at NYC Jewelry Week this November, following its most diverse open call to date. This year, the initiative has received submissions from over ten countries, including the USA, Netherlands, Peru, Spain, Belgium, Colombia, Japan, Oman, Germany, and Canada, showcasing a vibrant global representation of talent committed to ethical jewelry design. The response underscores the growing momentum behind responsible sourcing and community engagement in the jewelry industry.

Reciprocity Jewels partners directly with miners in the Madre de Dios region of the Peruvian Amazon—first in the area to earn Fairmined certification—knowing each miner by name and forging relationships, not just transactions. Each miner, part of the AMATAF collective, receives training from Pure Earth to mine without mercury and reforest their concessions. The collaboration highlights a dedication to creating a transparent, humanized and sustainable supply chain that benefits both artisans and the communities involved.

In the Andean communities, Awni—or reciprocity—is a timeless, deeply respected principle. Rooted in Inca tradition, it weaves together relationships between people and Mother Earth. The Andean proverb, “Today for me, tomorrow for you,” recognizes that relationships are the jewels that last a lifetime. Reciprocity Jewels embodies this principle in every step of the process, providing and celebrating a vision for a responsible, traceable gold and gemstone supply chain that reciprocally benefits all, from source to customer. The project underscores the power of collaboration on a global scale. It highlights the ethical and responsible use of resources, while offering a platform for individuals from different nationalities to support one another. The co-founders, and soon to be announced exhibiting designer partners, come from diverse backgrounds, making the project an international effort that reflects the importance of diverse collaboration.

Founded by a passionate group of four independent designers, Reciprocity Jewels aims to transform the jewelry supply chain by highlighting the importance of ethically sourced materials, specifically responsibly mined Peruvian gold. Andrea Jose, Peruvian designer and co-founder, serves as Reciprocity’s head of Production and Partnerships, where she plays a crucial role in connecting artisans with designers and overseeing the production process. Andrea travels to the Madre de Dios region to source directly from the miners, and has founded the Jarapay School to train the miners in smelting and jewelry making techniques. With her background as a Business Engineer and with an MA in Design from Central Saint Martins, Andrea emphasizes the need for transparency in sourcing, while understanding the intricacies of both design and social impact. Andrea’s work celebrates the value of female leadership in the mining sector, drawing inspiration from strong community figures. “Through Reciprocity Jewels, we are not just showcasing beautiful pieces; we are telling stories of the miners and their communities. Our mission is to create a transparent and traceable gold supply chain that honors both people and nature,” she explains, highlighting her dedication to responsible sourcing.

Jacqueline Barbosa, Curator of the Reciprocity Jewels exhibition, brings her distinct knowledge and passion for responsible design to the forefront. As Curator, she meticulously reviews and selects the designers and pieces that align with the exhibition’s vision of sustainability and storytelling. Her deep connection to nature, having grown up in Brazil, infuses her curatorial process with a keen awareness of the environment and the artisans who create each piece. With a Master’s in Jewelry Design from Central Saint Martins and a celebrated career that includes features in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and L’Officiel, Jacqueline’s eye for craftsmanship ensures that each piece in the exhibition resonates with purpose and artistry. She views this exhibition as more than just a display of jewelry—it’s an immersive experience that connects people to the stories and ethical practices behind the designs. “Reciprocity is about honoring the artisans, the environment, and the enduring beauty of thoughtful craftsmanship,” co-founder Jacqueline says. “Each piece in this exhibition is a testament to the impact we can make when we design with intention and respect for the world around us.” With her own atelier and store in New York City, Jacqueline continues to create heirloom pieces that not only adorn but also inspire through sustainability and meaning.

Delphine Leymarie, who is heading Finance and Project Management for the Reciprocity Jewels exhibition, plays a vital role in orchestrating the event’s logistics and financial planning. Her responsibilities encompass overseeing budgeting, coordinating timelines, and ensuring smooth execution from concept to completion. With a background in corporate finance and a creative soul rooted in jewelry design, Delphine brings a unique blend of precision and passion to the table, ensuring that each detail of the exhibition is meticulously managed. Her journey from the serene beaches of the South of France to the vibrant streets of Manhattan has deeply influenced her aesthetic—one that celebrates individuality, spirituality, and sustainability. Known for her “sunken treasure washed on a distant shore” aesthetic, Delphine creates amulets and talismans that are meaningful and timeless. As a co-founder of Reciprocity Jewels, she is committed to promoting responsible sourcing through her use of recycled and Fairmined gold, aligning the exhibition with her values of ethical craftsmanship. “Every piece I create carries a story and a spirit. By collaborating with miners in Peru, we are creating meaningful connections that elevate both the craft and the community,” Delphine says. “This exhibition is a platform for change, and through careful management and collaboration, we hope to inspire the industry to embrace sustainable practices.” Delphine’s expertise ensures that the exhibition runs seamlessly while embodying its core mission of ethical luxury.

Dana Bronfman, co-founder leading Communications for Reciprocity Jewels, is the wordsmith behind the initiative’s compelling narrative, shaping its voice and outreach to ensure it resonates with audiences across multiple platforms. From crafting the call to entry, to designing social media campaigns, Dana takes charge of translating the vision of Reciprocity into words that inspire and engage. Her ability to articulate the exhibition’s mission—rooted in sustainability, responsible sourcing, and the artistry of jewelry design—makes her a key driver in the event’s success. Known for her “quietly bold” and modern jewelry style, Dana’s signature “oculus” design, with its circular openings, reflects the transparency and openness she brings to her communications strategy. Every piece of her work, created from reclaimed and Fairmined gold, mirrors the intentional values of Reciprocity. “As a communicator, my goal is to not only draw people in with the beauty of the pieces of Reciprocity but to tell the deeper stories behind them—stories of artisanship and what sustainability actually means,” Dana explains. “Words have the power to build bridges between the art and the audience, and this exhibition is a platform to spark conversations about the positive impact of responsible design.”

Olga Gonzalez, CEO of jewelry PR agency, Pietra Communications, is joining the all-volunteer team of co-founders at Reciprocity Jewels to lead Public Relations, where she will support the Reciprocity Jewels brand growth and help it gain greater recognition in the media and beyond. As a Manhattan-based PR Pro and certified gemologist (FGA DGA), Olga supports independent designers with innovative strategies to grow businesses in the luxury space. She is an advocate for integrity, diversity, ethical and sustainable practices. Olga is a Past President of the Public Relations Society of America New York Chapter and the Women’s Jewelry Association Metro Chapter and is contributing editor for Gem-A’s Gems & Jewellery magazine.  “I’ve traveled to over a dozen mines around the world and have seen firsthand how collaboration and partnerships within the jewelry industry can be life-changing for miners working on the ground,” says Olga. “At Reciprocity, each of us is passionate about supporting independent designers while creating opportunities for miners to succeed. During the exhibition, we seek to share both the designs and the responsible sourcing knowledge of those who share in this collective vision.”

The upcoming November exhibition will feature over 20 designers from around the world, doubling participation from 2023, promising a captivating exploration of the intersections between design, ethics, and community. Attendees will embark on a journey that highlights the mining and crafting processes, emphasizing the significance of each piece’s origin. A portion of each sale will support Pure Earth, a nonprofit organization dedicated to sustainable mining practices.

In preparation for this impactful exhibition, Reciprocity Jewels invites like-minded companies to consider sponsorship opportunities, whether through monetary support or event space support. The collective seeks partners whose values align with the mission of responsible sourcing and community engagement, helping to create a movement that champions transparency and sustainability.

The Reciprocity Jewels exhibition is a transformative experience for jewelry enthusiasts, and advocates of ethical practices. Explore the stories woven into each piece and engage with the artisans behind the designs, joining in community to celebrate the beauty of reciprocity. The Reciprocity Jewels exhibition will run from November 20-22, 2024, with further details to be announced. For additional information, visit https://reciprocityjewels.com/

Each model in the convoy has close links to the Royal Family, carrying out official duties or working behind the scenes on the Royal estates. The display will feature two of the earliest Royal vehicles: the first Land Rover Series I State Review vehicle and a Land Rover Series I. The vehicles in the display include:

1954 Land Rover Series I State Review vehicle

The very first State Review Land Rover vehicle featured a custom‑designed rear platform. It accompanied HM Queen Elizabeth II and HM The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on a six‑month tour of the Commonwealth. This particular vehicle was sent to Australia for that leg of the tour and is now under the care of a private collector in the United States.

1954 Land Rover Series I (NXN1)

Originally ordered by HM King George VI, it was used by HM Queen Elizabeth II and other senior members of the Royal Family at Balmoral. Land Rover apprentices restored it in 2010, and it now resides in the Land Rover Classic collection.

1958 Land Rover Series II State Review vehicle

The second official ceremonial review Land Rover vehicle featured blue side light lenses, which were switched on whenever a member of the Royal family was being carried. This example was a reserve vehicle, which explains its low mileage of approximately 13,000 miles. It forms part of the Royal Collection at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon.

1966 Land Rover Series IIa Station Wagon (JYV1D)

Driven by HM Queen Elizabeth II, this was the first Station Wagon of its kind to be fitted with a six‑cylinder engine. It also features a host of special features, including leather seats, a wooden dog guard, and side steps, to help it fulfill its Royal duties. It now forms part of the Royal Collection at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon.

1974 Range Rover State Review vehicle

The first Range Rover vehicle to take the role of ceremonial State Review vehicle entered service in 1975 and was used until 2002. Its specially modified rear included foldaway seats and a lectern containing concealed umbrellas. An additional exhaust silencer ensured noise from the V8 engine was kept to a minimum for its Royal passengers. It now forms part of the Royal Collection at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon.

1990 Range Rover State Review vehicle

The third State Review Range Rover vehicle featured in the image chosen by HM Queen Elizabeth II for her 1994 Christmas card, where she and HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, were pictured attending the 50th Anniversary of D‑Day Landings in Arromanches. This vehicle is part of the British Motor Museum collection.

1983 Defender 110 V8 (A444RYV)

A personal vehicle commissioned and used by HM Queen Elizabeth II, it was used on Crown estates Sandringham and Balmoral and was ideal for rural transport and Royal pursuits. The car is fitted with special equipment, leather seats, and a special radio system and is finished in dark green paint to Queen Elizabeth II’s choice. With grab handles and footsteps, it is suitable for hunting and fishing trips. This vehicle is part of the British Motor Museum collection.

1996 Range Rover P38 State 1 Royal Review

This is the fourth State I Royal Review vehicle provided by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations and replaced the previous State I Range Rover from 1990.

These bespoke vehicles were used on Royal tours at home and abroad by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip. Like all state vehicles it is painted in the Royal colour claret with a distinctive red pinstripe running down the side of the car, but additionally boasts hand-painted crests on the doors and tailgate. It features the royal crown topped by a golden crowned lion, which is part of the royal Coat of Arms, and is surrounded by a garter bearing the motto “Honi soit qui mal y pense” (meaning shame on him who thinks evil). This symbolizes the Order of the Garter, an ancient order of knighthood.

The specially adapted rear platform for the royal party to look out from was given four foldaway seats, rather than the usual two that are in other state vehicles. This vehicle is part of the British Motor Museum collection.

2005 Rand Rover L322 State Review

This is the fifth State I Royal Review vehicle provided by Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations.
The specially adapted rear platform from which the royal party can look out has the same black leather upholstery as inside the driver’s cabin. The tailgate folds down to reveal a set of stairs so the royal party can easily access the platform. This vehicle was famously used to transport the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry during Queen Elizabeth II’s ninetieth birthday parade in 2016. This vehicle is part of the British Motor Museum collection.
